A FEW OF MY FAVORITES
On the Creating Keepsakes' home page, there is currently a video of me talking about & showing a few of my favorite scrapbooking tools. (Question to self: Do I always talk that fast?) You can watch Lisa Bearnson talking about a few of her favorites too. We did these segments in her home. So no - that's not my office; that's Lisa's super cute room. I know I need to post pictures of my space and I promise - I *will* get to that.
SCRAPBOOK VOLUMES
This is in reference to the picture of my chronological albums (vol. 34, etc.) that I posted on April 28th. Volume 1 began in 1994 when I graduated from high school.

Oh yeah ... check out the locks! That's when I began scrapbooking, so I just started from there. Everything since then has gone in subsequent albums, in chronological order, and - like I said - I also have a bunch of theme albums and now, our kids have their own ongoing albums. In our family chronological albums, we're currently in volume 41. Okay. That's just crazy, I know.
The thing is, I started scrapbooking when I was young & single and it wasn't too long after that that I began teaching scrapbooking and then working for Creating Keepsakes magazine. So needless to say, scrapbooking has been a really big part of my life and I was doing it for 8 years before we had our first child. I also am an "efficient" scrapbooker, meaning that while I totally enjoy the process and the artistic side of scrapbooking, I equally enjoy the organizational and "having it done" side of this hobby as well.
The great thing is I'm never done. Nobody is. We're not in this to be "caught up" by any means, but it is nice to have as much of our life, and our family's life, documented as we can. I've learned a lot over the years, like what I want to be sure to get in the scrapbooks, and what's really not all that important. If I knew then what I know now, I'd probably have fewer volumes with more "important" stuff. Know what I mean?

Looking forward to seeing photos of your space!
Hi Becky,
Your blog is great, I love checking it each day and seing a new entry! Also, thanks for the detailed answer (with photos!) to my question about your albums.
If you don't mind I have another question, what do you do with the photos that don't make it into your scrapbooks? Do you print them out and put them in photo albums/boxes, burn them on cds or are they just kept in your computer? The fear of our computer or back-up drive crashing and losing our photos terrifies me. What do you find is the best way to manage your photos, they accumulate so quickly!
Thanks again for keeping up the blog, we are all learning so much from you!!

Wow! Amazing that you have 40+ volumes.....(and I thought having 4 scrapbooks for my daughter who just turned 4 was a significant for her at 4)...You have great work! Always look forward to see your pages. :)
You are amazing and such an inspiration to many of us. Looking forward to see more blogging!!
I would love to see your scrap space. I also love those articles in the magazine. So post pics when you can, that would be great! You are so organized and I sure need help in that arena! Thanks for all your good advice!
Great words of wisdom coming from an experienced scrapper!
Thanks for the words on chronological-ness. Despite the BPS and SS, I can't let go of my chronological ways. I think it is the mathematical side of me that wants things organized and documented in order. I celebrate moments, too, but have to keep track of life my way.
Big fan of you as a fellow Frederick County girl- I grew up there and graduated LHS in 1992.
Hi Becky!
Many thanks for all of your inspirational and creative ideas, tips and organizational ways! I too am quite the organized gal (my husband would call it fanatic), however, being a mom of two little ones finding time to work on my scrapbooks is often challenging. I do have a question about how you organize your schedule. When and how often do you work on your personal scrapbooks? What is a typical day like in the life of Becky Higgins? Thanks again for the cookie recipe....YUMMY!
Becky,
On the creating keepsakes website, when you did that video of your favorite things, I saw that page of Porter's fourth birthday, but I didn't get a good look of the whole spread and it looked so cute! Any way you could post a picture of it? Do you always include a handprint and footprint on their birthday pages? I saw the one for his first birthday on the creating keepsakes video collection movie I got yesterday. Thanks so much! I love that you are blogging!
Hi, Becky! This is Dina (from the ward you spoke at tonight)...just wanted to post a comment on your cute blog and say THANK YOU for taking the time to come and teach for us tonight. In the words of my almost 12-year-old, "You rock." :)

Yay for chronological scrapbooking! So nice to see someone stand up for it ;) And it's true, we'll never be "caught up," but that's a GOOD thing.
I just came across your blog tonight & it's awesome. I've followed you in CK Magazine for as long as I can remember & my "must have" tool for scrapbooking is your Sketch books. I cant wait for your new one to be released. Your blog is great, especially the recipes!! I love your graduation pic from 1994....looks alot like mine from 1993....long brown locks & all. Must of been the style!!
Happy Scrapping!! Jen
