it's hot.

Oops. This is what happens when you leave a candle in your garage ... in the summer, in Arizona. It's pretty though, isn't it? The cream-colored candle didn't melt because the plastic wrap is still on. Good to know that packaging really does work.

I've been doing more layouts with my June KOTM (kit of the month). This is my current one in progress ... a summer theme. It's so cute to display these pages on the clipboard that the kit includes.

These kits will no longer be available after Saturday, so this is your last chance to order. At midnight on Saturday night, the new July kit will be available (also super cute). So if you haven't checked it out yet, be sure to click here and see all that it has. Such a great price for everything you get.

In response to a few of your questions ...

- My website really will be a functioning place with lots of content. It will likely be up & running by August.

- Jody asked what I wrote inside the bookplate on one of my CKU Sketches class layouts. Here you go, Jody. On that note, I just have to say how much I love using bookplates. Even if you just handwrite a little something, they look great.

- Lindsey asked about my process when it comes to digital pictures & using sketches, etc. Sometimes I start with a sketch and find pictures that work well with that design and sometimes (most of the time) I have pictures and THEN find a sketch that works well for the number of pictures I want to use. I'll be showing you my whole process of putting a layout together - start to finish - soon. Stay tuned.

- Krista asked about printing in "normal" sizes. Yes, all of my printing is done in standard sizes (4" x 6", 5" x 7", 8" x 10", etc.). The key to getting smaller prints is to create standard-sized CANVASES in your photo editing software (like Photoshop). Crop your images to whatever size you need, like 3" x 4" and then drag & drop that smaller image onto the 4" x 6" canvas. You can put multiple images on one canvas ... whatever you can fit on there. Your prints will still be 4" x 6" and then you would just cut the images. This is much easier to explain "in person". I hope it makes at least a little bit of sense.

Dear Becky
This has nothing to do with with your blog but I wasn't sure how else to get in touch with you. I attended the CKU in Anaheim this last month and took the "Snapshot of Me" Album track with you. After arriving home, my nephew got into my box of supplies and colored all over my journalling blocks. I was wondering if I could get either a digital copy of the journalling templates or purchase another copy to replace the wrecked ones? I'm not sure who to contact about this so I'm hoping you will be able to help me out! Lots of people have been asking me if they can buy that album kit somewhere, everybody loves it. I'm anxious to get it done, but I need new journalling blocks.
Thank you!

Hi Becky,

I've admired your scrapping and organizational style for years and was so happy when you started your blog. It's so fun to see bits and pieces of all you do. In fact, I went to High School with Jen Chandler who I've seen in several of your layouts. So fun to see what a small world it is. Anyway, thanks for sharing how you get your "off size" prints. I've been trying to figure out a simple way to get those for a while with no luck. So thanks again for the tip!

Regarding printing smaller size photos, I just wanted to add that before you can drop and drag your smaller prints into the 4 x 6 canvas, you have to have the "move tool" selected. There is a great on-line article on the Creating Keepsakes website from May 2007 that goes over how to do this step by step with pictures.

Thanks for coming to my rescue Becky. Now I have no excuse not to finish my CKU homework. I put together the cutest little CKU album made of pages from the swap we did before CKU. I just love it! Thanks again for your help and your blog. You rock!

Hi Becky - What program do you use to organize your photos on your computer? Also, do you just organize them chronologically or do you do it according to family member, event, etc? Thanks!!

Becky,

I am a mother of two children, as are you, so I was wondering how you organize your scrapbooks. I have pages that individual for each child, but I also have pages from vacations, holidays, etc. that include both children. I would like the kids to be able to take their scrapbooks when they start their own families, but who gets the pages that are more family oriented? Do you make two layouts for each family event? Thanks!

I will be visiting Phoenix in late July and I am NOT looking forward to the heat!

I am excited to see my brother though. We are going to Antelope Canyon so that we can take lots of pretty pictures.

In regards to making wallet size photos, I haven't had the time to figure out how to use photoshop but I did find a great utility called Photosheet. It helps you make a 4 X 6 sheet of 4 wallets with any picturs you choose. You can make bigger size sheets too with lots of different wallet size pictures on it. There is information about it at http://blog.photility.com/ (It is called "Photosheet") I thought you might find this info useful for people who have a hard time with Photoshop.
