creating a layout & grilling chicken
Ever wonder how other scrapbookers put together a layout? I think it would be interesting to watch the creative process of others. That's one fun thing about scrapbooking with friends, right?
The CK website has a really fun column called "Start to Finish". With pictures and text, a scrapbooker takes you through every step of putting together one layout. This month, I'm the featured artist. So for those of you who have asked me, "What's your creative process?", this is a classic example of how I put a layout together ... from start to finish. Click here.
We had some friends (the Griesers - love them) over last night. David and I tried a new recipe (found it on the Food & Family website) - a very simple version of chicken bruschetta. David worked his magic with the grill and we all loved it. Definitely a keeper for grilled favorites. Here's our modified version of the recipe.

[ GRILLED CHICKEN BRUSCHETTA ]
Sundried tomato salad dressing (we used Kraft brand)
8 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
4 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
1 small pkg. fresh basil, chopped
Marinate chicken in sundried tomato dressing ahead of time. Place large sheet of heavy-duty foil over half of grill grate; preheat grill to medium heat. Grill chicken on uncovered side of grill about 6 minutes. Meanwhile, combine tomatoes, cheese, basil and dressing (as much as you desire; we did about 1/2 cup). Back to the grill - Turn chicken over; place on the foil-covered part of the grill, cooked-side up. Top evenly with tomato mixture. Close lid. Grill an additional 8 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
Good stuff.

Becky,
Loved being able to read through your creative process. Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Oh, and thanks for the yummy-looking recipe, too.
Becky is the sundried tomato dressing a salad dressing or something else? Is there a certain brand?
Thanks this looks soooo goood!
Thanks so much for taking us step by step through your scrapbooking process...really neat!!!
Thanks, too for the yummy recipe!!
I so admire your scrapbooking style. Looking forward to your new book too. I will try that chicken recipe tomorrow since it looks so good and my husband loves bruschetta. Have a great day!
We've made that same recipe twice this summer! Love it. I couldn't find the Sun Dried Vinaigrette it called for so we used the Kraft Sun Dried tomato salad dressing also!Even my kids enjoyed it, which IMO says a lot about a recipe.
I loved reading about how you scrap.. I'm a "simple is better" sort of scrapper myself and I've always admired your style.
Yummy food...great fellowship. We love the Higgin's, too!
YUM-MY!!!
I love trying out new recipes. I will have to check out the other recipes there.
TFS
Thanks for sharing your creative process - very interesting!
Hi Becky,
We just bought a Mac. Downloaded the font but am having a hard time typing with it in Word. It won't show all of the letters, the bottom is cut off. Are there any settings that I am overlooking?
Thanks so much!
Blessings,
Alicia J
I have a question about journaling. Of course, it all depends on the font, but it seems like 12 pt is just a little too small for reading through. What do you use?
I made these a couple of weeks ago. I think that I need to make them again. They were YUM, weren't they???? Love that Food & Family mag.
I can't wait to try the grilled chicken recipe! Would you be able to share your recipe for day before cake that was in the layout you posted? It sounds yummy!
Thanks for all the inspiration!

I am so happy to have found your website. Your article is my favorite in the magazine and I often use your designs. I really like how you now include the photo demensions. I recently bought photshop elements, but am having trouble figuring out how to size my photos. Is there an easy way, or is there some resource out there that can easily teach me how to use this software.
Thank You
Sharon M.
That was in the summer (or spring, I forget which one) 2007 magazine for Food & Family. I made it as well and took pictures because it was so pretty. Not only that, but it's tasty too! Love that magazine.
