thankful & random stuff

Feeling so thankful for the concern over Claire. (She's doing great now.) Feeling thankful that those of you that I missed meeting in Kansas City were so understanding about my last-minute absence. I heard you were SUCH an awesome group. Feeling thankful for a very understanding & hard-working Events staff at CKMedia who put on such wonderful events. They're so awesome. Thankful for Micaela, who covered my classes. She is amazing.

And ... Feeling thankful for the birthday wishes. So sweet that some of you knew that. Enjoyed a really nice birthday weekend with extra David-time and family time.

Onto some random topics & answers to a few of your questions:

[ GLASS PEBBLE PROJECT ]

No, the glass pebble art/Christmas decor project does NOT have glass over it because it's really chunky with those glass pebbles. But I did leave the glass piece in the frame, BEHIND the art. Keeps it all nice & sturdy. I bought those large glass pebbles at Target. I'm sure you can also find them at craft stores, WalMart, etc.

By the way, I've gotten a few pictures from some of you who have made your own variation of the project. Anyone else want to share their personal creation? E-mail me a picture. I'd love to share them here on my blog so everyone can see the different styles & ideas.

[ 200 LAYOUTS ]

It took me about 4-5 months to create those layouts for my new Sketches book.

[ TACO SEASONING ]

I told you this was random. When a recipe calls for a specific amount of taco seasoning, I do not use the individual packets. In fact, I don't think I ever use those. We got a big container of it at ... you guessed it ... Costco.

[ PDA ]

The handheld organizer (that doubles as a cell phone, etc.) that I use is the Motorola Q but I REALLY want the iPhone. Of course.

[ BEDDING ]

Does anyone have a great online source for adorable girl bedding? Looking for Claire.

[ SPEAKING OF ADORABLE ]

Attn: Michelle. Michelle Wooderson. Will you please e-mail me? [bhiggins@ckmedia.com]

Hi Becky,
I used a site called
www.grahamkracker.com for my daughter's entire room from duvet, pillow shams, curtains, pillows, etc. They will send you any of their swatches for free and a catelog of the different styles that they offer and you can mix and match and do everything reversible down to the curtains. Makes for great changes as they get older b/c I can reverse the duvet and the pillow shams for two completely differnt looks. I was so pleased with the results!

I made my girlies matching quilts and I supplement with the shabby stuff from Target. (Shabby Rose??) They have a cute drapery/valance thing that I hade out of a tablecloth and napkins. It is much cuter than it sounds.

The Land of Nod is awesome, too. (They have a really fun podcast!)

Thanks Becky for answering the taco seasoning question. I did find a big bottle of it at Sam's (we don't have a Costco around). Looking forward to trying that recipe soon!

Also glad to see Claire is feeling better. Love the cards you made in the picture as well!

Pine Creek Bedding is my most favorite place to buy kids bedding. They custom make whatever you like. They are right around the corner from my house, but they sell to several stores. Arizona has 4 stores that carry their bedding. Their website is pinecreekbedding.com Good Luck!

Pottery Barn Kids always has cute stuff, but a little more $$ than what you pay for something similiar at Target or Bed Bath and Beyond/Linins and things. Have fun redecorating

Hi Becky! I just started reading your blog today. I've been missing out BIG TIME! :) So much fun stuff...

For children's bedding, I would check out SerenaAndLily.com. They are pretty pricey- but if you feel like investing, the beauty and quality looks amazing. Or, you can get some gorgeous decorating ideas from the photos. As soon as we move, I'm jumping on some of their boy bedding for my kiddo.

Have fun shoppin'!

Hi Becky-

We just got a new catalog in the mail from KooKooBears. The website is kookoobearkids.com I think it mentioned that it was part of Sears-funny because the quality looks amazingly better than Sears and is much more pricey!!!

Company Kids is great also.

I work at PBKids so of course I love that...but I also have to look for a good deal.

Enjoy!!!
