weekend project idea
I did this Christmas project in advance because I'll be making it with several friends next month. Thought I'd share it with you, too.

Here's what you'll need and how you do it:
8x10 frame (I picked up my black one at Target)
12 glass pebbles (also found at Target or craft store)
1 sheet 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock for the background (trimmed to 8" x 10")
various patterned papers (I used some from a new Basic Grey Christmas line)
circle punch (I used the 1 1/8" punch because those "fit" my glass pebbles)
28" of ribbon
Mod Podge
sponge brush & plate
hot glue gun for glass pebbles
adhesive tape or glue for ribbon
tin foil for drying pebbles
Punch circles of patterned paper. I also made a couple of circles in a document on my computer (they read "Merry Christmas" and "The Higgins Family"). Using a foam brush, apply a light coating of Mod Podge to the flat (back) side of each glass pebble - one at a time - and place the circle on the pebble with the pattern side of the paper touching the Mod Podge. Place these pebbles on some tin foil to dry while you work on the base of your art.
Cut your cardstock to 8" x 10". Cut 3 blocks from 3 different patterned papers. The sizes are: 2" x 2" (for the top left corner), 2" x 6" (for the top edge), and 2" x 8" (for the left side). Adhere all pieces to the cardstock. Adhere ribbon along the edges of the patterned paper.
Arrange the pebbles where you would like them to be. Using a hot glue gun (or some other strong adhesive of your choice), adhere the glass pebbles to your background.
And with that ... you're done! I'll probably put this on our entry table inside the front door (when I decorate for the holidays). Of course this doesn't have to be holiday-specific. And you could put photos behind the glass pebbles. Oh, that would be SO cute. You could get REALLY creative with this! What a fun project to do with girlfriends or sisters or mom or your kids.
So seriously - if you end up making this project, I really want to see it, okay? Pinky promise me that you'll share your creation. E-mail me a picture at bhiggins@ckmedia.com.

Any chance you can give us a sneak peak at your Christmas Card KOTM???
Great idea Becky! Thanks for your inspiration, I love your ideas. I am so glad you have a blog now, I have been following you forever. Your finished project turned out beautiful!
Becky - You constantly inspire me. Thank you for blogging and presenting great creative ideas!
I love that project! I had bought glass pebbles before in an effort to make photo magnets, but didn't know what to use for adhesive. I tried glue dots, but you could see it through the glass, so i gave up on that project. THANK YOU~! so now, i will re try my photo magnets and this frame project. I will share my creation with you, pinky promise :)
Thanks for sharing all your cute projects! I will definately have to copy!
I don't have a lot of space to display pictures of my 11 grandkids this would be a fun way to do a little picture of each one and not have to take up too much room. Great Idea thanks a ton. I've always wondered if creative people lay awake all night with ideas floating into their heads.
Hi Becky,
I met you in Edmonton this year at the memories wholesale show. I am always checking in to see what you are creating. This project is sooo cute I will definately be making one of these. Thank you for all the inspiration.
Susan

What a cute simple christmas project. You are always very inspiring, keep it coming!!!! I will definietly email you a pic of mine.
Great idea - might have to try this - and yes, if I do I will share it :)
Adorable! I am being moved to a new office this week, and one of these would be a perfect little decoration for those boring old cubicle walls. I think I'll make one with photos of my family & pets. I'll be sure to share if I do! :)

Hi Becky...
You are just too creative!! What a fun project to do. You're always coming up with such cute crafts and projects. You ROCK!!
I also have a confession to make.
I am a closet scrapbook hoarder!!!
I was introduced to scrapbooking some years ago and have continued to buy and buy products but have NOT even completed a whole album. So I told myself that I can buy no more until I begin creating. I have your latest book and I am ready to scrap. However, I have one problem. I don't know how to re-size my photos in photoshop. I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 3 and I was wondering if you can write in detail how to resize photos. I bought an instructional book but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. I won A.P.E some time ago and I am eager to use it.
Please help as I am so eager to get my photos printed and in albums!!
Thank You
Lisa
Becky, I'm getting ready to make one of these, but I have a question. Did you leave the glass out of the frame? I didn't know if it would fit with the glass pebbles. If you didn't use glass, are you having a problem with the weight of the pebbles pulling the whole thing away from the frame?
super cute! I'll have to include this in our mid-week craft classes.
heya becky!
i can't WAIT to do this craft... i actually gathered all of my supplies to start, when i realized that i have the 'wrong' size of glass pebbles for this, and i couldn't find any others at michaels... i noticed you said you used the 1 1/8" punch (who makes that punch, by the way?) which is way too big for the little ones i have... which are only roughly 3/4 of an inch. could you tell me where i could buy the pebbles you used? hopefully i can get them up here in canada!!
thanks so much for your time, have a great day!
warm regards,
janna
this is tooooo adorable!! what a great idea to make with a group of ladies. thanks so much for sharing your bountiful creativity!!
