pics to accompany video #5

[Watch Monday's video (#5) for further explanation on these 2 pictures.]
Here's a fun way to use the chipboard gift tags that come in the November KOTM (there are 20 gift tags included as a bonus). Tie some ribbon around a plate of treats, attach a cute tag and you're done.
If you're just joining us, click here for more information on that kit. As of right now, the Christmas card kits are going fast but they're not gone yet.

Okay, this next picture is a simple ornament idea. Got the wooden blocks at the craft store, painted each side, printed small pictures of the kids, placed a circle page pebble on top of each picture, cut around the page pebble and then adhered a picture/pebble to each side of the block. Finishing touch: Screwed some eyelet screws in the top & tied some ribbon on.

For Porter's 1st birthday (2003), all of his little friends were too young for games & structured activities so WE (the moms/my BF's) made a craft - these ornaments.

wow! you have totally been reading my mind about photo christmas ornaments. my in-laws live out of town and i was going to make them some clear glass ornaments but i was afraid of shipping them but with your creative ideas i can ship them with the greatest of ease. how awesome are you?

i did i have one question, the wooden circles you showed look thick. i have only seen the real thin ones at craft stores like hobby lobby. could you post a link to the thicker ones on your blog?

thanks becky for your creative ideas and for stirring the christmas spirit inside of everyone.

These are fabulous ornaments - I love the craft cube ornament - very versatile.....I did a version last year where I printed my photos the same size (2X2) as the cube, sanded the edge of the photos, attached them to the cube and used the same tan paint I had painted the cube and touched around the edges of all the photos - It gave a great old look/quality (which is what i wanted).....TFS Emily

Becky, these ornaments were such a hit with my husbands family (http://thecandlands.blogspot.com/2006/11/thanksgiving.html). I changed it up a little. I asked each family member to send me 4 photos of themselves throughout their lives (i.e. baby, kid, teen, adult) and after cropping them into 1 inch circles in Photoshop, I used the cheap page pebbles they had at Walmart ($1.20 for 16). I painted all the girls red and all the boys green, then I made my husband put in the eyelet screws. I then used green ribbon on the girls and red ribbon on the boys to hang them. We surprised my inlaws with what we called a "Legacy Tree" and then with the photos I made a video to the song "Legacy" by Nicole Nordeman. Thanks for this idea! It was a total hit. And I bought TONZ of extra page pebbles to copy (again) your birthday cards last year (see #19 on this post http://thecandlands.blogspot.com/2007/06/25-random-things-about-me.html). Thanks for all the million and one ideas as always!
