video day #11
Pull up a chair. This is a LONG one. Like 8.5 minutes long. Maybe this is my way of celebrating my 100th post on this blog (hooray!). In this video clip, I take you through an entire album, page by page, and ... the phone was ringing, I was getting ready to go take pictures for our friends, the kids kept coming through and ... well ... this is life. : )

Thanks for sharing. And it was fun to see life in it's REAL form!
Becky,
Thanks so much for sharing! Looking through Porter's album totally motivated me to get back into the swing of scrapbooking. I have to admit that I was in kind of a slump. Thanks so much!!
Also, thanks for suggesting a "challenge". I have been wanting to make some "Peppermint Fudge" for my neighbors but have been putting it off. I have been a bit shy about introducing myself and have lived next door to them for some time now. Reading your posts about how you often bake for your neighbors has really helped me build up the courage to take them some goodies.
You rock Becky!!
Lisa
Well I didn't mind watching an 8 minute video :) Thank you for sharing the album, I have asked you about family and child albums before and the video was extremely helpful.
I do have one question
When you use the post-it for an upcoming a page do you refer to your journal for the information/journalling for the page?
I'm so excited I've discovered your blog! I loved looking through one of your albums to see the place holders. I've done that too w/post it notes w/ layout ideas on them.
I also love that you grouped holidays and summarized the summer on one layout each. It's nice to feel I have permission to only use one photo from each event. (I don't use every photo, but I feel compelled to use the majority of them--a habit of which I am trying to wean myself from).
And your kids are adorable. Great job.
Thank you so much for sharing that, That really helps me. I've been thinking of redoing my albums to those We R one's they look great! Love your kids--your life looks as crazy as mine--Just add a baby to the mix and you would have my life:)
Cindy
What a fun glimpse into your family. I loved looking at your album. The "sum up" type layouts are such a great way to put a lot of pictures on a page or two. Thanks for the inspiration!
Becky,
I got my kit. LOVE IT! In fact, at first I was just going to send the cards to close family & friends. Now I have ordered 6 more kits to include everyone on our list. Yes, I send out ALOT of Christmas cards. Anyways, THANK YOU! Also I have enjoyed the videos, recipes, and helpful tips. Thanks again, Hilary Austin
P.S. My husband Kevin loved the cards a lot too. He said, "boy we are really stepping it up a notch this year."
Thanks so much for sharing your family and your album with us. I really love the sticky note idea. I think I will use that. I jot things down all the time of what my little ones say, but if I actually add that to a page, I will remember to add that to the album.
Thanks so much for all your tips. You're the BEST!!!!
Tina
Becky,
It is so nice to see that you have a "normal" life just like the rest of us! Life can get crazy!
I love reading your blog and I'm going to miss these daily updates when they are over!
You're awesome!
Tania
Hi Becky.
I am feeling totally motivated now. I love the way you have organised your albums and it was great to see your layouts. I love the albums you use but I'm not sure if I can get them here in NZ. My current albums are post bound and strap bound and I don't like them very much as they make the layouts sit funny. Your kids are just gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing your family and projects with us.
Hi Becky,
Congratulations on your 100th blog entry!!! Thank you for showing us how you put together your albums, it definitely helps spark my creative process. Still waiting for my KOTM. It is taking awhile to get to British Columbia, but it will be worth the wait! Hope your photo shoot went well :)
It's always fun to see other families in their everyday lives. Thank you so much for putting such great ideas and info on your blog! I am such a huge fan and love your new red binders (I'll have to get myself some of these).
I was wondering what you're using to record your daily videos...I think it would be great learn how to do them and add to my own blog. And one final request...could you share a video tour of your studio/scrapbook space...it looks amazing! I'm planning my room in a new home we're building and would love some tips!
Becky, I made your taco soup tonight along with the tortillia strips. It was AWESOME! Thanks for sharing the recipie!
Becky, that was fantastic! I am a chronological scrapbooker and have considered changing, but I just can't break away from it. I LOVE how you organize your albums and use the post it notes for place holders. That is going to help me out a lot. Thanks for sharing!! (I love the videos - it's so fun to see your home & your kids & your bare feet :)).
Alyson
Thankyou so much Becky. I just loved your family and listening the kids accents and I think this is the first time I have heard david's voice, so it's nice to put the voice to the face. Love your ideas and feel very blessed that you have allowed us to see Porter's album. He is a very lucky boy! You have done a great job.
Angie
Those layouts are all so beautiful! And I love all the family interaction, so adorable! Have a great Monday!
Hi Becky!
Thank you so much for sharing Porter's album. It's so beautiful! Can't wait to receive the KOTM. Hope it won't be too much longer till it arrives in Australia.
I have two quick questions:
1. What do you include on your title pages? (I'm always stumped with this area and I still haven't created one for my daughters album and she turned two last Thursday!)
2. Do you print out your pictures 6x4 and then crop to your desired size or do you resize them and then get them printed as the desired size?
Also, thank you for taking the time each day to record your video clips. I have really enjoyed watching them and have learnt so many things!

I have to agree with everyone else... I love seeing that you are just like the rest of us with hectic families! I have been an admirer of yours for years and have really enjoyed "seeing" you in person =) =)
Hope you continue to do a video clip every now and then and thanks for the great inspiration by showing up Porters' book!
Which book do we get to see next!

Re Earlier Comment:
Sorry Becky, You must think I am strage. I am from Perth Australia which is why I loved hearing the kids accents. Thought I should explain this, otherwise you think it strange. Thanks again for all of your inspiration.

Hi Becky - your family is precious! I love your albums!! Where do you get your binder albums? I can't find them in any stores...Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your family with us. Your kids are beautiful and have gotten so big! They grow so fast, don't they?
I am a new visitor to your blog and I just love seeing these videos! Seeing how you organize your albums has been so helpful. I'm trying to go from a crazy do whatever I feel like scrapper to a more chronological style. It's nice to see that it can be done!! :-) Thanks so much for sharing!

hello Becky,
At first, i love the video's on your blog every morning when i watch them.I am going to use the idea of the empty pages in my albums, love that idea.
Some questions; Are you also going to make an ormament for christmas this year? Or other crafts for christmas ? Jetty, from a wet and cold Holland
Becky - Loved seeing the kids and the hectic life of being a working mom. LOVED that you're instilling great values in your kids such as gratitude, etc. and documenting it. And, aren't great block parties the best?!?!
Finally received my KOTM on Saturday and have already put 1/2 of it together. Normally I'd be a lot faster but I have a hectic life too so I'm pretty proud of myself for that one (especially with all those little brads!). Just something to share with your blog readers in case they don't notice... One the blue Happy Holidays card, there is a clear piece that goes on the front of the card. Not sure if everyone has noticed or not, but it has a very fine piece of film over it that needs to be peeled off. It just protects the piece while rubbing up against all the other pieces in the kit during shipping.
Love the kit. Hope you'll do another one for next year! Makes my life a lot easier. Thanks!!

Thanks for sharing Porters album! I love how you did chronological order. I'm not a chronological scrapper but I am doing it in my girls' Disney albums. I'm so happy that I'm not the only one who leaves the journaling blank until I'm ready to sit down while the girls are asleep to do it.
My only complaint is I can't find your new sketches book anywhere. Will it be available locally?
Thanks!
April H.
i've been lurking...and can i just say that you are perhaps the cutest mom i've EVER SEEN. i kind of want to be like you when i grow up (i'm 23 now). thanks for the inspiration....insight...and for sharing your life with out here in blog-land!! i'd love to see more of your house...and more albums!!!

Becky - I LOVE your albums. Where do you get them?
Kim
I am single and trying to decide if I should do a seperate Christmas book or yearly books Starting from Last year. I am trying to scrap in order now and every so often I go back to older pictures and just put in the page protectors and maybe one day can have some sort of order, Thank you this helped alot especially with the Christmas cards I have saved and did not know what to do with them I just keep in a basket! Great ideas you helped alot so glad you are doing these videos so helpful and fun! Thank U! Hugz Grace
Becky,
Thank you so much. I recently came across your site and just wanted to tell you thank-you.
I started "officially" scrapbooking in 2001. I actaully did my own version of it growing up with markers and paper and the unsafe albums. When I began I actually used one of your books - I think it was called The Joys of Scrapbooking. Anyway, it helped me so much. I am a chronological scrapbooker and still do homemade pages too. It takes time and I feel like I will never catch up but I enjoy it immensely and know that I am creating a major keepsake for my family.
So thank you for the last 6 years of inspiration, guidance, etc. I now put your new book (with all the sketches) on my wishlist. I continue to look forward to the wonderful tidbits you provide here with a sense of real life!
Becky!! Thanks so much for sharing! I so enjoy the video clips, and love your albums. You're a joy!! ~ Lisa
These video clips have been such a joy to watch. Thank you for taking the time to put them together. I have so enjoyed your blog and am so gald that I found it. Thank you Becky!
Can we see more pictures of your studio? PLEASE!!
Hi Becky-
Love your videos, too! So inspiring! I was wondering how many pages you have in your albums before you call it finished and move on to the next one. I have a bad habit of over stuffing my albums and then they are very hard to flip through. Thanks!! Teresa
It's great to see that other people have chaotic lives too. Very dear however, you obviously love your family very much. I've enjoyed watching the clips and reading the blogs. Can you tell me any info about blogs and which company you use? Thanks Ranan
Thanks so much for sharing! It is really nice of you to do that. You are by far my favorite scrapbooker, your style is so similar to what I do and with 6 kids and 1 on the way, I need quick and easy pages. You are very inspiring to me and always have been. I have enjoyed your blog, the tips and recipes are awesome. The taco soup was a hit with my family! I too, would love to see a video clip of the whole office/studio area. I love your black cabinets and assume they came with the house. Your tabletop is nice also, is that a countertop, like ones used in kitchens?
I scrapbook chronologically also and that's me too, the way my brain works. I do skip around from child to child's albums and insert here and there just trying to keep up with all of their doings.
Keep up the great tips and recipes. I love it all! I ordered your Christmas Card Kit and just got it and cannot wait to put it all together. I also love the "hybrid" card idea and think I will try some of those also this year for Christmas...do a little half and half.
I also want to share an idea with you that I do for Christmas and it's that I take each child's picture with Santa that I have done over the years with them and have them up on the mantle area (or bookcase area which we are spilling over onto now) and have them in 5x7 size in frames. The kids love to see themselves with Santa, especially my older ones which are now 14 and 12 and I have gotten alot of comments on them. I also do scrapbook pages in their albums of that pic but this is a way we can see it every year. Just thought to share that.
I'll miss your videos, you'll have to do one every now and then, it's a good idea. Take Care!
Love your Christmas card kits! What size is the photo you insert in the card? And since it's smaller that 4x6, can you suggest where to order photos? Thank you!! So excited to mailout!!
Hi Becky - Like other, I would love to take a virtual tour of your scrapbook room - heck! I'd love a virtual tour of your whole house!! I would love to see how you decorate!! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your album.
Do you always do a two page layout?
definitely my favorite video blog yet! i loved it and could relate so well with it with the phone ringing and kids going everywhere!
it was awesome to see that side of you.
tiffany
That was great! Kids and all!Made me smile and giggle! :) I
L-o-V-E your pages! Made me a have alittle twinge in my heart. You see, I don't have kids yet, so ready now, and I can't wait to have my own kids to make these kind of memory pages. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the sharing how you develop your albums - lots of inspiration and organization just in those eight minutes. I think I found a new album that I like. :-)
Great video. Nice to see how you organize your scrapbooks. Don't apologize for the "extras" in the video. I'm grateful for your time to share with us. As was said previously, it's motivating to see what you've been doing. Maybe I'll do a page or two and NOT just card-making.

Three days ago, as I was putting a page together, I though “I wish I could see more than just a page of Becky’s made for the magazine. Today I look at your blog and there it is, exactly what I hoped for. Take this as you will but it is meant with the utmost sincerity. If it was not for you, I would not still be scrapbooking. I would be keeping a journal and I would be taking photos but I wouldn’t be putting them together. I would probably miss any connection between the two. What I mean is that I might journal about a meaningful moment but I might not think to grab the camera and get an image that could later re-enforce the experience. Or, to look at it the other way, I might take a picture of my niece and even make a note of who she is and the date of the photo but I wouldn’t necessarily tell the story of how the dimples in her cheeks make me so happy inside. I might not note to myself that they remind me of my husband and our own hope for a little dimpled joy. I don’t want to miss these connections but I have to say that if you weren’t putting your ideas out there, I would have lost interest. With all the products and techniques and philosophies, it gets easy to become overwhelmed and quit. I’m not saying any of those things are bad but that for me, it is more about documenting my life and less about artistic style or complex techniques. I think it is great that some people get that from scrapbooking. People need to have pursuits in life that make them happy. I enjoy looking at the variety of methods people use to tell their stories but your way of doing things makes it possible for me do what I enjoy and share my own and my families experiences. To me, your beautiful, simple pages focus on documenting the experience and have the added bonus of using just a touch of fun product. The reason I scrapbook is exactly what happened during your video when Porter wants to look at his Pez page. I want to open the book and smile at a memory and have other people do the same. Nothing is more pleasing to me than seeing a smile on someone’s face when they look at the photos and remember their own story or are pleased to be included, to be part of the memory. Or even to know that I have the plan to document it (I do post it’s too). Life is hectic and full, exactly like your video showed. There isn’t always time to do everything you want to do. Your little 8 minute video is life and your ideas have made it possible for me to continue to enjoy a pursuit that I would have otherwise lost in the chaos. THANK YOU so much for sharing with us
thanks Becky for sharing your albums with us. I have a few questions though and hope you'll get to answer them sometime....
1. for those albums that you have, which company are they from? we r memory keepers? I notice you go by colors, that's such a cool idea but what if in five years time, the company no longer sells that exact color, what do you do? I ask this cause I recently experienced this with that company's brown leather albums which I've been using for my family albums. They no longer carry them and now I'm stuck with a few browns then the rest a diff. color.
2. Those pages that have post its on them, do you decide those layouts from ideas that you want to make or are they pulled out from pictures you already have? Like say that Porter's page of things he said, do you already know that that's a layout you wanna make even before pictures are taken or you gather pictures then think of the idea for a page for those prints?
3. I saw some layouts that I've never seen before. Since you're in the publishing world, how do make the decision into which layouts you want the world to see and ones that you want to keep private? Do you even have this dilemma?
Thank you in advance,
Your fan,
Grace Tolman
Just wondering how much time in a week you get a chance to work on non-assigned projects!
Becky,
This is totally off the subject but I have a question for you... I have two children VERY involved in their sports and so far I have done, well lets just suffice it to say MANY MANY cheerleading, football and track layouts. I am running out of ideas... and need some new inspiration. I still have the rest of this Junior Year and a Senior year of Cheer and Track to do and 3 more years of High School Football to do, so you see why I am stumbling... LOL! :) So, do you have any inspiration for me or ways to make it easier for me? PLEASE!!! :)
Mimi Hancock
I love this post... It was great how you totally tried to get through that video in one breathe... Love it... I love that album too. I'm off to check them out... Thanks...
Hi Becky,
Thanks so much for sharing your album organization. It really helped to know that you can scrap chronologically, but still jump around a bit. I also loved to see your wonderful family - sometimes it is easy to forget you are real when we mostly see you and your work on paper. I have loved your video blog over the last week+ and am sad it will be coming to an end soon. Hopefully you will share a video with us every now and again!
Hey Becky,
Thanks for sharing your album with us. Sure did give me some helpful hints, especially marking spots where layouts go. Great idea. You kids are so cute!
That was fun!! So nice to see real life in a "big name" scrapper! Thanks for sharing!! I love your albums and am so inspired by your lack of scrapping every photo...I can't get myself out of it....although I did manage to finally get out of the "must scrap chronologically" mode....I still put them in the albums that way, but don't scrap that way all the time!
Thanks again for sharing! Loving your blog!
Wow. This video was like having 8 1/2 minutes of Becky in her "real" life :) Thank you David for filming your kids in the middle of it all: makes it very natural and as though you're THERE in the office with you all!
Nice to see how your album system operates, Becky :) Thanks for sharing!
Becky,
Just a couple of questions:
1. How many layouts will fit in one of the WRM albums?
2. Do you have 1 chronological year of layouts per album, or do you span a range of time. Is the album titled "2006" or is it titled "Porter's # Year" and goes from birthday to birthday?
3. When the kids leave home will they take their albums with them, or do you do something like Stacy Julian's "School of Life" album?
BTW, I totally loved that your life is as crazy in "real life" as mine is -- an I only have one, but she comes with a bunch of friends!
Thanks for sharing!!!
Becky,
You have totally made my day! I will never again feel guilty about having post it notes "holding places" in my albums again! :)
So refreshing to see that that is just life (for others as well)and these albums are a process and constantly a work of art in progress. :)
Your kids are darling and I hope the shoot went well!
Hey Becky,
Thanks for sharing your albums! I would really like to know what brand your 3-ring albums are. I have decided to switch the to the 3-ring style and really like the ones that you are using. Can you email me the brand name? Thanks! My email is j9billings@kc.rr.com.
Jeannine B.
Hi Becky,
THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing your album. It's so nice to see a glimpse of how my "favorite scrapbooker" works. I cannot wait for the school KOTM. You really inspire a lot of us. I also cannot believe how big Claire has gotten. You have such a wonderful family.
Grace C.
Hello Becky. LOVING this video thing. BTW your children are absolutely adorable. :) I was wondering something. Do you mostly do album layouts or do you do any mini albums for certain events too? My last question is this. I think you have answered this before, but cannot find it anywhere, where do you buy the albums for storage of your 12x12 layouts? Love them so much but I don't even know who makes them. Thanks so much.
Nicole Mantooth
Another Thank you!!
I loved the video clip
