displaying Christmas cards

Wow - you guys really want that market bag! : ) I still haven't finished reading all of the cute ideas you have been doing for neighbor gifts, but I'm really inspired with so many great ideas already (for next year)! You guys are so awesome.

So our lucky winner of the striped market bag is Holly (a "southern scrapper"). YAY Holly! E-mail me your address (bhiggins@ckmedia.com).

Some of you asked about how we display our Christmas cards. We tape them to a wall. That's it. And I'm known to leave them up through at least Valentines Day most years because I love seeing so many loved ones in one spot. : )

(Paint color is Oak Harbor, Dunn-Edwards brand)

In our last house, we did this:

Just ribbon and clothespins.

One last note for today: My Best of Becky Higgins Sketches books are on back-order and should be ready to ship again by late January/early February. Some of you have ordered it at CK online and in case you wondered, I wanted to be sure you knew. All customer service questions can be forwarded to orders@ceatingkeepsakes.com.

Glad to know i'm not the only one who leaves them up long after the holiday! (cards)

Yep your latest and greatest is so hard to find, i'm trying to order my one for my Mom (as her house is one of the scrapbook pages). Everywhere I go it's backordered and I think "Way to go Becky" :)

I'm super glad I have my signed copy to show off :)

Merry Christmas!

Unfortunately I too had problems mailing my KOTM cards. I also had to actually tape the envelopes closed. The stickers just didn't hold. I love how they turned out--just thought you would like to now for future projects.

We tape our cards up as well!!

Becky,
I absolutely love your KOTM tags. I used up all the labels for my Christmas cookies which is by the way a HUGE hit here at work ( the Andes Mint cookie). Gone in less than an hour. Muah!!! Muah!
God Bless You,
Grace

Since our fam spends most of the time in the kitchen, I tape mine up on the kitchen cabinet doors. I LOVE how so many of your cards have photos with them. Not the case with the cards we receive, unfortunately. Oh well, cards are still great! :D Thanks for sharing your photos! Would love to see a photo of your Christmas tree. Love to get ideas from others how they do theirs. :D

Merry Christmas, Becky! I am now addicted to your blog :)

Living in a urban setting, our dining room windows look out onto a brick wall... not too attractive. So, we tape our cards to our 3 windows to disfuse the view.

Peace and Joy, Lesley Q

I love the ribbon/clothes pin idea! We just tape ours up to the doorway-- but for sure going to do the ribbon thing next year!

Just wanted to wish you a merry Christmas! Have a great holiday! Can't wait to see what you have in store for the new year!

Hey Becky!
Since you are so good at all other advice, it seems. What are your favorite Christmas CD's? Mine have gone missing since last year and I am having to replace. Any suggestions?
Thanks and Merry Christmas!

I like leaving my cards up too... in fact, I would probably leave most of my decorations up too if my husband and our housing organization would let me. I love the warm feeling I get from the lights and the stockings.

How many of your own KOTM cards did you receive? I see 4 in the picture. My pet peeve is people who send you a card and sign it from/love John & Jane, sometimes not even 'from' and sometimes not even to----. What's the point of that??

WOW! I got excited when I saw a "Holly" won the market bag! Not me! Oh well. Still LOVE the bag site. Can't wait to order. The ribbon and clothes pin idea for cards... so creative! Have to try that one next year! Thanks for sharing the pics! One of my favorite things that I do at Christmas is wrapping and making my gift tags!! LOVE it! I would LOVE to see a picture of your gifts and tags if you do anything special. Merry Christmas!

P.S. LOVE your layout in Feb. CK of you and your daughter! Can't wait to scraplift that one!

Ok, so I wanted to add a friend gift that was so extra fun this year.
I got an initial mug for my girlfriend and a little of her favorite warm drink-happens to be spicy hot cocoa. Then I attached a tag to the mug that read...

Here's one for you, there's another at my house ready to fill up & have a chat.

I got a second mug with her initial at my house so when she comes over for coffee, cocoa, whatever she has a mug among ours (with our initials).
She LOVED it, almost cried that she has one at my house too.
Anyway, had to share since everyone had such fun ideas.
Merry Christmas

P.S. my fav initial mugs are from Anthropologie.
& I also hang my cards up strung with natural twine and small clothes pins that I glittered! Love the sparkle! wish I could attach a pic! :)

I love that! We have a cute card hanger, and we love that, but my cards are "outgrowing" it, so I needed a new way to display!

I scrapbook all of my photo cards in an 8x8 after each year, so then at Christmas I have the books out, for us to see and look at the cards from the years past!

Kids grow up, trends (and hair!) change!!!

Thanks for sharing, Becky!

Silly question... the photo card above the "Santa on a surfboard"... does it say on the back where it was printed? It is such a beautiful pattern!

Becky,

Just a quick question. I was reading the "about" section and you mentioned your husband was an anesthesiologist. Years and years ago I met you at Scrappy's in Plano. (I won a drawing and you wrote the word AUTUMN for me). I thought back then he was in dental school. Sorry if this is a weird question. My brain remembers everything but recalls the thoughts at odd times. By the way I have photos from that day if you want them. Thanks so much.
Elizabeth

P.S. I am making the block photo ornaments this weekend. I hope they turn out nice.

Becky, thanks for helping me make the cutest Christmas cards ever. I love how they turned out.

I was a bit proactive after reading all the comments on this blog, and I used just a tiny slice of double-sided tape to seal up my envelopes for the cards before using the cute little circle seals. It worked perfectly and wasn't an inconvenience at all!

I have no complaints about the kit, even with all the brads! It made them look that much more "handmade". I'll definitely buy again next year if you decide to put together another kit!

Thanks!

C

I like all the ideas about how to display Christmas cards. I am going to tape to my wall in my kitchen next year.

Today I took the pretzel hugs (made with red and green M&M's) to work. They were a huge hit! I shared the link to the recipe, some of my co-workers plan to make them this weekend. They are so easy and so good!

For those of you who would like to make your own cards, but don't have time (can't imagine why not...)there are some really cute ones at www.tinyprints.com. We have used Shutterfly up until now, but these are cheaper, and the designs look "cooler," just thought some kindred spirits might want to know...

Love the way you displayed your cards. Is that picture of President Hinkley on the shelf? If so where did you find it. I love it. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Becky,
I've been reading your blog for a few weeks now and I love how down to earth you are!

Here is what I've done to hang up my Christmas cards this year (you can view it on my blog www.4kreativeminds.blogspot.com) I have an nice ceiling fan (courtesy of the military) and it has this hideous chain that swags across the ceiling and down the wall. So I punched small holes on the corner of our cards and tied a piece of ribbon to it and tied it onto the ugly chain. I used to hang them on our garland at our old military house, but we couldn't put it up this year that way, so I had to improvise! ;)

Have a very Merry Christmas and joyous new year!

Hugs,
Vida
