centerpiece idea

Found these at Ross recently (so you KNOW they were a great deal) and thought they'd be perfect as a cluster of three on our dining room table. Except I'm not a big fan of raffia. So I bought some pretty ribbon, pulled off the raffia and did a little switch-a-roo.

Do you have something around your house that just needs a little tweaking, or it just needs your personal touch? Feel free to share your home decor tips related to this idea.

Hi Becky,

These arrangements look great!
Sort of a happy tropical feel.

I was recently redecorating our girl's bathroom and I wanted a plain wispy wreath in there. The natural brown color did not fit the scheme. Well, I bought a can of white glossy spray paint.
That's all that it needed. It looks
perfect against the blue sea breeze walls.

Hey, I tried to print the time capsule documents you uploaded but couldn't open the files. My daughter is helping with a friend's party tomorrow and we thought it would be a great thing for these teen girls to do.

Thanks and have a great day!

Great arrangement! I never go in that store. We need something new for our dining room table so I might have to check it out.

Hope you are having a great week!

I love the Better Homes and Garden website for inspiration. I use it when I am looking for wreath ideas. It's www.bhg.com. Lots of good recipes too.

Definitely like the ribbon so much better. I love Ross for decorating too. My other favs for great decorating finds are Tuesday Mornings and Kohl's.

I'm moving my two boys in together, to prepare for baby #3, and finding the "tweaking" to make it more both of theirs very challenging.

I have two questions/request...

You may be sick of this question, but I was so excited about your plan to do a KOTM school album, and having been holding off on my son's in hopes of getting that...or at least seeing it. Can you give us any indication of when it will be available? Thanks!

Secondly, I'd love to know how you organize your kids' rooms. I love getting hand-me-downs from friends but it is getting overwhelming...especially with 2 sharing the same closet & dresser. Give us a peek when you get a chance!

Thanks!

How do you have such a good vision for "tweaking" something like that? I would have just gone "ugh" and looked right over them, if they weren't to my liking....
Wow, what an amazing effect they have now.

I (and I'm sure many others) would love to see more of your home and it's decor, Becky. You have such an amazing style.

Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

I love adding ribbon to things. Speaking of ribbon my mom and I have a serious love for ribbon and we had so many spools we needed a new storage solution. [we used to store them on a dowel that was stuck into a square piece of wood.] So a few months ago we were looking around the house and I found a small quilt shelf, removed the rod and added a dowel that fit the holes of my ribbon. For the rest of the ribbon I took brackets that you use for draprey rods and screwed them into the wall and added another dowel. I like that second one better, you just lift it right off. And it is a super cheap solution.

I have glass cabinets in about half my kitchen. I have put some homemade canned items towards the front of some of the shelves to give some color since they are white cabinets.

And the ribbon does look better.

Becky,
I have used this same ribbon before to embellish frames for my house. There is a frame designer called Bella Fiore frames and they use lots of silk flowers, paint and ribbon to embellish wood craft photo frames and I have duplicated these same ones using simple items purchased from the craft store and this ribbon since it looks kinda like leaves for silk flowers.

Hi Becky, I love what the ribbon has done for these centerpieces. It's a perfect touch! My favorite center piece is my two tiered wire rack. I keep it on my dining room table and switch out the contents for each season/holiday. I attached a link to show my Valentine centerpiece. It's a nice way to contain a bunch of items in one spot. Check out the recipe at the bottom too for my Sweet Party Mix. I know how much you like recipes. Hugs!
