serious about my goal
I really am serious about getting 31 layouts completed this month. While I won't be posting/sharing all of them (I think I share a lot through my published work already, and most of these layouts I'm getting done right now aren't meant to share with the world. They're just for us. Thanks for understanding. : )
But I will share a few that I get done this month. Here's one.

In addition to all the layouts I've completed (they were mostly done, but just needed finishing touches or journaling) in the past couple of days, this is my official Jan. 1 layout that I did "from scratch". And as you can see - I'm in this to get layouts DONE, and to enjoy the process too. This month's layouts will not likely be masterpieces, but I know I'll love every one. For this layout (which is from our first trip to South Africa in 2004 - see? I'm really behind), I kept it as simple as can be. No products. Just pictures and journaling.

Good for you! Thanks for sharing this one with us.
Hi Becky,
Made the nutella rolls this morning...used apples rather than bananas. They were great! Thanks for sharing recipes as well as scrapbooking!
Have a great day,
Wendy
Thanks for sharing that challenge Becky. I'm so far behind with my scrapbooking, but I printed out most of my 2007 pictures from my digital camera and I'm going to try to do a 2007 Reflections book with them for the challenge. Speaking of which, I need to go finish today's layout!
WOW that's fantastic!!!! Oh yes, I totally understand about the not sharing *all of them* ~ I'm the same way....some are just for us!
I adore that 2 page layout with only the photos and journaling :) it's perfect!!!!
Hi Becky!
My husband and I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE your recipe for garlic chicken farfalle! Do you create your own recipes or get them from another source? This is definitely a favorite recipe! Keep them coming!
I did my 1st layout for January this morning - thanks for the inspiration to do it!
I spent New Years evening catching up on your blog entries (I'm making your taco soup tonight!) - you talked about an album you have for announcements that you receive (birth, wedding, etc.) Your comment was that you keep it simple and it's just in an 8 1/2 x 11 album. I would love you to share it like you have some of your other albums. I'm having a hard time imagining your book looking like what I envision when I think - "just put it in an album" I imagine you have some type of theme going on or you are matching paper to the announcement??? Yes? No?
Thanks in advance.
You're great. My husband calls my daughter (who is 6) Becky Higgins because she is always making cards and scrapbook pages for everyone. She may not realize it yet, but it's a huge compliment to her.
THANKS for pointing out & sharing that some layouts CAN BE just about the photos & journaling! very inspirational. need that every now & then! i am hoping to do 31 also :)
I'm not to the layout page stage yet but I am finally getting everything organized so I can get to the fun stuff.
Look at you go! I am not that far in my new years scrapbook progress yet...but I have a scrapbook question for you. I think I've seen you using the top load sheet protectors...do you find that the top of your page gets dusty after awhile? I had a friend who used top loading sheet protectors for years...but she just recently replaced them all because there was dust all over the top of her pages. Have you found that to be a problem? Just curious which way to go.
Also, I was wondering if you could add some labels to your side bar to make posts on specific topics easier to find.
Thanks Becky for reminding us that it should be about the photos and the story rather than the embellishments. I sometimes find that I don't scrapbook because I can never seem to come up with the perfect layout, or the most artistic one. I think my 2008 goal might be the nike slogan 'just do it' and see what happens. I'll let you know how I get on.

Becky,
I wasn't feeling the itch to scrapbook today until I read your blog and saw your layout. Thanks for sharing, as always. I think we all totally understand that you don't have to share everything with us - we do love seeing it all though! Happy scrapbooking!

Becky, I cannot even tell you what an inspiration this LO is to me. I have so many pictures and I want to include all the good ones but it seems so difficult to really highlight them all. this is just the ticket. Thanks!!!! THIS LO makes me WANT to scrap!

Great layout Becky. Thanks for sharing.
I have yet to get my scrapbooking stuff together for a layout. :-(

HI Becky - good luck with the layout per day challenge! Another question, that I am sure that you have answered before - do you print your smaller photographs (like on the great page about South Africa you've just done) yourself on your home printer or get them done at a lab? Thanks for sharing with us :)! (and go you for taking a toddler overseas with you! now THERE'S a challenge!)
Hey Becky - Fabulous layout! I love the pictures (especially the one with your husband and Porter in the mirror...really cute!!). No need to apologize for not sharing all of your layouts, you are beyond generous with the things you do share...especially your TIME!! Good luck with your challenge!
Love the layout. It zeros in on the photos without any distractions. I almost always use your books when deciding on a layout to use. They have helped me so much.
Becky~
I am going to really try to do 31 layouts/projects in January and have 2 done already. I need your help though. The picture frame in Jan. issue with the 6 pictures of Porter and then a quote about "boy". Well I did that for my son but now I need to do something like that for my daughter and am having a hard time finding a quote that special. Any suggestions?
Thanks for sharing so much with us. I'm glad to hear you keep some just for your family though too!

Thanks for sharing your layout!! I ordered your DVD today, and I am looking forward to receiving it. Thanks for all of your inspiring ideas!!
b4 i even read your blog, i had woke up on the 31st of january and said, "i will get all of quinn's school book done today." he's only in 4th grade, and i had decided a long time ago to keep it simple and only 2 pages per year. 1 page for VIP picures and 1 page for keepsakes about that year. now i keep going back to it, thinking that it's "not enough". the LO in CK are very busy and intense and they make me feel like i always am not doing enough on my pages. thank you for this one, it makes me feel like i'm doing just fine on mine. i just want to get the pages done. i don't have enough time to spend tons of time on my pages. i have 2 boys and a very busy sports life with them...I JUST WANT TO BE DONE!!! not second guess myself all the time. have a great 2008!!!
I love the layering on your page. It's awesome... Happy New Year...
My scrapbook goal is to do (on average) 1 layout a day!!
You are such an inspiration!!
Did you get the idea or are you participatingin the class (free BTW) on Big picture Scrapbooking (http://www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com/janchallenge.php)
Hi Hecky I just love your LO! I also love travelling through Africa :) Love your pictures, colors and the beautiful style!
Hi Becky - I'm doing the page a day too! It's Summer here in NZ and holidays so it's great not having to rush off to school and after-school activities (I say this as I sit here in my pjs and it's 9.40am - & I've just completed another page - I just hope nobody comes to the door!) - Angie NZ
thanks, Becky, for the reminder that we don't need to create every layout as if it's for publication. I love this simple but complete story.
Love the layout! It`s so simple and elegant. It really brings all your attention to the pictures rather than embellishments! You work always inspires me and you have wonderful ideas!-Sonja, NS, Canada
I LOVE this layout!! When I focus too much on trying to create a "masterpiece" I lose focus on the reason why I snapped the photo in the first place!
Gorgeous layout, I am attempting the 31 in 31 too wish me luck, I have not done any yet!!!
Just found your blog and am back reading some...I didn't officially take a challenge, but Jan is a great scrapping month for me...BEFORE we get some good snows for sledding!
Great simple approach...the nice color of the stock pulls it off. I need to do less "linear" work...very nice.
