april sketch
If you've received your April issue of CK, you may be familiar with my sketch for this month. I created an entire mini album with the sketch ... and it was completely digital (a first for me)! You can see several layouts of Claire's First Year mini album here.
I also wanted to share a simple layout I did using the sketch:

Plus, if you didn't notice on p. 50 of the April issue, I did 23 bonus sketches, all based on layouts throughout that issue. It's one of those tear-this-out-and-keep-it-handy pages. Hope it helps you get a few more pages done!

thank you for all of the sketches! I love them...sometimes I am inspired by layouts, but sometimes I need a clean sketch to get my mind going in the right direction. Your sketches are fantastic! Speaking of digital - did you see the April/May 08 issue of digital scrapbooking yet? My chemo induced bald little head is in there as well as an updated photo of me with my curly hair. I'm still working on my family history photos - this year I am scanning and fixing tons of old photos my grandmother gave me. I even organized the photos and put them in white 3 ring binders. Thanks for that tip as well!
I haven't gotten my issue yet, but now I can't wait! You are always such an inspiration. Thanks!
love the pages....
I took similar pictures just need to get them scrapped...
would love to be nosey and ask what size you printed and as a digi scrapper myself...
what did you think?
ready for more digi?
she is adorable and great book!
Thanks for the sketches! I really love them the way you present them! It works for me! Thanks for all your hard work! :) (Can we make this a permanent fixture in CK?!?!)
Your sketches are 1 of 2 things that kept me going past the January 2008 redesign (studio a was the other). I was really excited to see all the extra sketches this time - what a bonus! And I recently bought your "new" sketch book & have already put it to great use! Love the sprial format... now if only we could get the monhtly magazine like that too! Thanks for sharing your hard work and talent! :o)
I just got my CK magazine today and laready have those pages flagged!!! I love your sketches because it really helps me focus but does not make me obsess over a specific paper or embellishment I do not have. Also, I am a scrapper who uses a lot of pictures on my pages (I just cannot not use a photo of my kids!) and your sketches really allow for that and give variety to my books. Hopefully will scrap tonight --- yeah!
How do you like the digital thing??? I keep playing with it, but I am a real paper person and having trouble letting go of my traditional methods. The act of scrapbooking is one of the reasons I enjoy it so much!
I'm taking one of Jessica Sprague's digi classes right now and loving it!
I can't wait to get my hands on my April CK issue! Thanks for the heads up Becky
Great sketch Becky! I love that mini book!
Thanks for the sketches and the inspiration. Lovin' them.
Love all of the sketches. I was so excited when I turned the page and there were a wawillion more sketches! So fun. Thanks so very much for the inspiration.
Becky,
I LOVE the sketches in the magazine this month. I think that should become a regular feature! (My fingers are crossed.) It's such a great reference to have your sketch to accompany all those great layouts. I was so excited to see your first completely digital project. Thanks for everything!

I can't wait to get my April issue Becky. Please don't go all digital! I love what you do with paper!

Hi Becky - I love your digital pages!! I wouldn't even know how to begin to do it, though. We did something similar each month of our two girls' first two years. We have a book called "the chair book" and we took a picture of each daughter in a specific chair each month. Then, I journaled what happened in that month...it was a lot of fun, and even more fun to look back on now!! Happy Easter!
Love what you did digitally! I crossed over from "the dark side" as we digi scrappers call it this past Autumn thanks to Jessica Sprague's classes. Really it is so easy and LOVE not having to have a room to store all my supplies, get to have my digi paper forever and ever, can scrap on the go with my laptop, and I can print my pages 12 x 12 and go pick them up at Costco. Digi scrapbooking is incredibly cost effective.
Oooh...thanks Becky! Can't wait for my hubby to bring me my April issue tomorrow when he meets up with us for Easter Break. Thanks for the inspiration!
I am so sure everything in this april issue will be wonderful! But I so don't want to go digital with scrapbooking, I can't even get my "new" computer to attach my pictures to emails. just had to vent!! LOVE everything you do Becky!! Susan
You have a great talent. I love your style and creativity. When you did your digital scrapbook, did you use the new Photoshop Elements that you refered to in a prior entry?
I love all the fun sketches that you provided in the April issue of Creating Keepsakes.
Can you help me out? I noticed on page 11 of the magazine that they mentioned a "binder-ready version" of your article that would be available on the website? I am having a hard time locating it.
I am looking forward to taking the April challenge and doing a layout next month of each sketch. Wish me luck!!
I don't get CK magazine, but I did just buy your Best of sketches book. I'm super excited to tet digi-scrapping using the sketches. I love the simple, practical style. Thanks!
I just picked up my April issue tonight and you should have seen the look on my face when I saw all those sketches! And then they teased us by saying you did layouts using them and we'll see them in May. Can't wait!!!!!!
Thank you for those bonus sketches. I'm wondering though, would it be possible for you to include more 8.5 x 11" sketches in the future? It's the only size I scrap and it can be difficult to to do the math to downsize your 12 x 12" sketches. Thanks! :-)
Hi Becky,
Thank you for the bonus sketches. I can't wait to get my April issue. I also have a question for you, what printer do you use for your journaling? Is it a "inkjet" or "laserjet"? What brand is it?
Sorry for all of the questions.
Marta :)
Hi Becky,
I can't wait to get my issue. I save all your sketches. They really help out when I actually get to scrap.:-)
Take care,
Tina
Hi Becky-
I am excited to say that I have ordered two of the We R Memory Keepers leather albums and will start converting my children's post/screw albums over. However, I wanted to ask you what you use for page protectors? I didn't see any for 12X12 only for 6x6. Thanks!
I am going through recipe withdrawl. Do you have any more good ones to share with us? Garlic farfalle was DIVINE by the way.
Thanks

Hooray! Another classic Becky layout! Cute album of Claire. Congrats on your first digital album! I'm sure it was fun putting it together.

Becky,
Cute album! Any suggestions on learning Photo Shop would be very helpful!! I've looked for books but haven't found a good tutorial for photos and scrapbook pages. Did you take a class, learn it on your own??
Thanks!
Becky,
We would love to see more recipes added to your blog. Whats cooking?
I didn't get my CK yet, but I took a sneak peak at the grocery store the other day. I was hoping there would be more info about your baby album-- the size of album, size of photos, etc. Also, I was wondering if you made the frames yourself, or if you downloaded them. I'd love more info-- I'm thinking of making an album like this for my son!
