Good, solid, sound parenting insight. Very much in line with my parenting philosophy and helped me solidify the way I feel about different scenarios and disciplining concepts. So yes - I'd recommend it.
I LOVE the Love & Logic parenting way!! My husband & I have taken a couple of classes that were great. It has made a huge difference in our home, and I love seeing the results in my children!! Have you read the one from Birth to six years- very good!
Dear Becky, I know there are many readers like myself who balance 3 kids (all under 6), schools, sports, wife duties, etc. A couple of weekends ago my friend invited me to a weekend to just scrap. I needed it greatly because my baby was turning 1 in just 1 week without a scrapbook. (I know very sad:)) I want for you to know that I completed 48 pages..completed with journaling and all by using your layouts and the decorative stlyes in the CK issues. I took the layouts from at least 12 issues including several other tagged pages that I loved. So, thank you! Thank you for you determination and encouragement. I was able to try new things, create cool layouts, and feel accomplished. So to all who love to read but get scared to "just do it" well...JUST DO IT. No more excuses! Again, THANK YOU so much! To more layouts, Tabitha
I love that book! Have you read The Parenting Breakthrough by Merrilee Browne Boyack? I highly recommend that one. She is mormon. And, she talks all about teaching your children how to do eveything they need to know before they leave the house. She also talks about allowance and teaching them to save. It's the most useful parenting book I've read for kids 5 and up.
Have not read Love & Logic, but it sounds like a good one.... I thought you once mentioned that you were a Babywise mom too.... we thought those books were really good too and they seem to really work for us!
I love-love-love the Parenting with Love & Logic Books also. I get them on CD so I can listen in the car. I love the example stories they use. I found Love & Logic when my now almost 9 year old son was just 3.
I have read pretty much every parenting book there is, and along with most everything written by Richard and Linda Eyre (of JoySchool fame), the Love and Logic books are the ones that are dog-eared, highlighted, and constantly referred to at my house.
Love and Logic Magic for early Childhood is also a good one to read if you are dealing with toddlers! I love all the Love and Logic books! Great stuff - so... logical! ha!
If you like Love and Logic, you'll love anything written by Scott Turanksy and Joanne Miller - "Good and Angry" "Parenting From the Heart" are two of my faves. We've taught both books as seminars and also use them in parenting our own six kiddos. Gotta love advice that makes sense!
Just got my copy of CK and again your sketches and your article together with Ali E's were the best in the magazine. Hence why you stay on and others come and go.
I love reading your ideas and find your sketches so very helpful.
As for parenting books another good one is by Steve Biddulph called Raising Boys. I attended a talk a couple of months ago and found it extremely useful for my 3 year old twin boys.
Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your idea,
I'm a teacher, and this is the discipline plan many schools in Michigan employ, and I use it, myself, as a parent. I have seen Jim Fay speak many times, he is amazing, you should check out his website and see if he's coming to your area - it is well worth it! = )
I'll chime in on this series too. Teaching with Love and Logic is another good read. We were introduced to the ideas in one of our adoption seminars. (I don't know if my dad ever read the books, but his thought process was very similar when I was growing up.)
I love these guys- I've listened to them on tape, but never seen them in person - I forget which one I heard, but his voice is sooo kind. Wonderful, logical and loving.
Hi Becky! I was going to email you, but I didn't see a link. Just wanted to share a find with you. At the beginning of July you were talking about some divided page protectors...well I'm thinking the same thing! I had 25 days in Europe and I feel like those pictures need to get in a book! Here's the link: http://www.pebblesinmypocket.com/main.cfm?categoryoid=308 . Hope this helps. Jenn Gibson
Hey...love your website! I'm a li'l late on the pickup, but just wondering if the July KOTM is still available...I didn't see a "SOLD OUT" on it, but can't figure out how to order. Already ordered the August one, it looks FUN! Thanks for your sketches and advice!
I'm a middle school principal and wholeheartedly endorse the Love and Logic books. Another good read for parenting adolescents is David Walsh's "So That's Why They Act That Way" and "How To Say No" (not the exact title). His website is a great parent resource, just google him for more information. I have several parent groups meeting and reading these books. The gift of children is an incredible responsibity and joy. Happy parenting.
Yes! I love Parenting with Love & Logic. I have read "Birth to Six Years." I am able to discipline without using anger or yelling (I have a temper). My daughter (Evie) is only 18 months old - I began using L & L a couple months ago - it seems to be working. Although Evie can be very sweet, she is also very strong-willed, stubborn and independent...like her Mom :)
Am always looking for good parenting books. Thanks for the recommendation. Hope you're feeling well and you're staying comfortable as you near the end of the pregnancy. Do you have any back to school traditions you can share with us? Would love a few ideas (scrap or non-scrap) as dd is starting school after Labor Day. Thanks.
I have only met you once so you probably don't remember me. I am Drew Davenport's brother. I actually go to church with Brian Tippetts, so we have another mutual acquaintance. He says I should scrapbook, but blogging is as close as I get. Not a lot of male scrapbookers out there (except for Tippetts). Some one told me that male blogging = male scrapbooking, so that's where I am at. Just saying hello and tell your husband hi for me. My blog is golftilyoudie.blogspot.com. Check it out.
I love Love and Logic as well. I got the books aon tape and listened to them in my car, really inspiring. I'm looking for your downloads for the "All about me album" featured in the newest CK edition. I couldn't find them on the website. Thanks! Cindy from Maine
I have used love & logic for a long time. Now as a teacher, we actually use this in one of our school systems in Idaho. I to would like to find the downloads for the "all about me album" ... thanks. michelle

I keep this book on my nightstand all the time and refer back to it whenever necessary. A great recommendation.

I read this book 10 years ago and I still rely on many of the principles taught in the book. Excellent book!

Hi Becky,
Just wondered if you've done anything with Lisa Bearnson's new August KOTM. Would love to see some examples of yours if you have.
Still loving the school and expansion kit. I just ordered a second one since they are so versatile. Thanks!
Lisa In Kal
My husband and I have also taken a class. We love it too. It just makes sense and feels natural.
