questions. answers.

It's great to hear that so many of you have received your baby kits. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the kit. It makes me happy that you're seeing this as a solution ... something to help you in what might otherwise be really overwhelming. For those of you who want to read reviews on the baby kit, there are a number of insightful comments on the last post.

You guys also asked several great questions and I want to give you some answers.

[ baby kit versatility ]

Many of you are finding how versatile the kit is for adopted children, single parents, etc. It's definitely adaptable for older children as well (those who were babies a while back), since some of you are asking about that. You can just not use the specific journaling cards that include lots of detailed questions that you may not remember.

Someone asked if I am using this kit for my other kids' baby albums. While I am using this baby kit for Crew's baby album (did I mention how much I'm loving it?), I am not going back and re-doing what I've already done for Porter's and Claire's baby albums. That would mean having too much time on my hands! Besides, I love what I've done for them in their albums. However, I do have a few layouts left to do in Claire's album and I've been using my baby kit for those extra pages.

[ new kotm site ]

Many of you who are ordering the Holiday Card kit have noticed that the web site is different from the original place (on Lisa's site) that you used to order KOTM (kits of the month). We've had several changes lately. First, new & improved web sites. And also, we have a new shipping warehouse in Denver. The new site uses the existing customer user names and passwords. The old site let people log-in with user name OR email address, then the password. If you are having trouble logging in you can click “forgot password” and you’ll get an email with BOTH user name and password.

[ shipping time ]

Orders placed by 1:00 pm will be shipped the same day. If you are pre-ordering the Holiday Card kit, those will begin shipping November 3-4. You'll have plenty of time to get those done in time for the holidays.

[ customer service ]

If you don't order online, you can call toll free to order: 800.453.1173

If you are international, here are the non-800 phone numbers for ordering & customer service.

720.374.3628 (phone for international orders)
720.374.3720 (fax for international orders)

Customer service hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. MST (GMT-7)

[ baby footprints ]

To preserve the sweet, small size of baby's feet I use acrylic paint, easily found in craft stores. I use a foam brush to apply it to the bottom of their foot and then carefully press it against cardstock to get the footprint. This is also how I have been doing our kids' handprints for years (see my Jan. 9, 2008 post titled "Handprint Tradition").

Added note: Acrylic paint is so easy to clean off of skin (and most hard surfaces too). Absolutely no staining.

[ albums ]

Since you get to choose the album you want to use with the baby kit, some of you want to know MY choice. There are many great options out there and I've chosen the We R Memory Keepers leather 3-ring albums. Yes, the baby kit comes with 12x12 page protectors and they are designed with 3 holes in the edge, which is perfect for most (or all?) 3-ring albums. You can certainly use whatever page protectors you want if you have a specialty album that doesn't fit these page protectors.

Back to the We R Memory Keepers albums ... check your local craft or scrapbook store or you can try some online options, like going here or here.

Added notes: Porter's albums are green, Claire's are yellow, and Crew's are blue. Also, Kasey (fellow blog reader) informs us that these albums are on sale at ritzcamera.com for $19.99 for the month of October so act FAST on that if you're interested.

This was a lot of text. Note to self: Include a photo in the next post. : )

I love how your albums look so cute together. I have the same general colors in my home and have been trying to decide what colors to use for my boys that will look cute together. What color are you going to use for Crew's albums?

How do you get the acrylic paint off your children's hands and feet? Doesn't it stain them? I have wanted to do this for a while but am afraid I won't be able to get the color off of them.

Hi Becky:

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer all of our questions.

Also, just wanted to let you know I was able to preorder the November kits. It took a little time, but it all worked out in the end. I had to register on the new website, once that was done, I was good to go.

Thank you once again for creating such amazing kits. Can wait to see what you come up with next year?

:)

Hi Becky!! I love the Baby kit, thank you!!!!!!

I was wondering.... I really like the look of the We R Memory Keepers albums, but can't you tell me on an average how many pages can you fit in one album? I have been buying the "The perfect album" but I love the idea of keeping everything color coordinated by child.

Thanks in advance,
Aneliz

Yes I agree I loved the video tips from last year. Fun fun fun! I know your time is so limited right now but any more tips or recipes hint hint for the holidays would be great.

Also is there a place where we can view other baby kit pages? When I logged on to the new KOTM site I couldn't see any archives or page ideas for any kit new or old.

Thanks,
Andrea

Becky
i preordered two baby kits on 10/3 and still waiting. I live in Seattle and usually receive items fairly quickly!?

i have contact customer service via the number provided and email and have yet to get a tracking number.

i think the products you are designing are great (typos aside) but the customer service/delivery end is another matter. I love CK and what you design and the price - but would like to get what i pay for in a timely manner, especially when purchased as gift items.

i'd love to see this 'format' also for birthdays and/or anniversaries.

Hi Becky!
I ordered the baby kit so that I could finish my three baby albums (my youngest is TWO!) Anyway, when it arrived, I busted it opened and managed to finish my daughter's album in one night. I have so much stuff left over I'm planning to finish both my boy's albums this week. YAY! I posted a pic of one of my layouts on my blog. Thanks for this kit!

hey becky, found your blog via simple scrapbooks email.

as i read more about this fabulous baby kit, is it versatile as to what size to make it? i do mostly 8x8 albums for my girls. would the 'custom page protectors' clash with this size?

thanks for sharing your creativity with us! :)

Becky, I had been looking for a new album style for a while. My son is 2 years and 4 months old and I just started doing his baby album but I noticed that I kept having to take the more recent layouts out and moving them back to re-arrange for the layouts that should have come before them in chronological order. (I have 24 layouts done after only 2 weeks of working.) After like the 12th time in one weekend it became frustrating. So, I read that you used the 3-ring albums. I went to my local scrapbooking store and purchased one. I transferred his layouts to the new album and LOVE IT!!! What a time saver! If something is out of order, all you have to do is insert another page protector and move one layout to the back of the new page protector. Wah-Lah - you now have room for another 2 page layout. So convenient! I also just purchased 2 more albums from the 20% off deal from ritzcamera as well as 2 pkgs of page protectors. The shipping was ultra reasonable ($6.95 for the entire order) so it really does save you money. These albums are $29.99 at my local scrapbooking store so finding them at $19.99 was a bargain. Thank you so much to Kasey for sharing that! And thank you Becky for the idea of the 3-ring binder system!!

Sometime maybe you would consider sharing with your loyal readers some thoughts on Time Management. You obviously have a very busy life, but still manage to do things you enjoy. I know that I have a difficult time balancing things i have to do/things i want to do/things i need to do/etc. Seriously, I think you could give some great insight to so many of us. A daily schedule of sorts? Think about it (smiles).

Hi Becky,

I've already commented about how much I love the Baby kit and with 2, I can get 2 complete ones and 1 with leftovers for all those extra pages, which for my first I don't need to add all those details, I actually did one of those non-scrap baby books...

I wanted to point out in case you are unaware (and maybe to point out to your readers), that for PAGE 1, the embellishment for "weighT" and "lengtH" on the pink side are missing the last letter. I'm off to let cs know, but we've heard how that is.

Fabulous kit though and so excited to have 2 of them!

Becky,

Do the 3- ring albums hold page protectors of different sizes, such as 8.5 x 11?

Love my two baby kits. If you have the girl kits with the weight/length error email vivian at vgrothe@ckmedia.com and she will arrange for a fix. It worked for me.

Also love the ritzcamera sale on albums. My scrapbook store has been out of Kiwi for months (I guess they're popular). Even with shipping at ritzcamera I paid the same price per album as at 40% off at my local scrap store.

I ditto the comment about 12 days of x-mas videos. Love them!!!

Thank you Becky for all your efforts to help scrappers everywhere. We appreciate it.

I'm curious if the Becky Higgins line is available anywhere other than through CK?

I preorded two sweet baby kits early October. I called mid october when they still had not arrived. I was told the order was lost and I had to replace the order. I did that and just today the package arrive and I recieved two school pack expansion kits - not the kits I ordered. I needed them for an event tomorrow. I called and they said they would try to overnight them to me and I would recieve an email by the end of the day and a phone call telling me if it will be here tomorrow or not. Needless to say they failed my expectation again and I did not recieve a call or an email. This is the first time I've ordered from this site and I'm not happy. I'm leaving out many phone calls that I had to make in the meantime.

SOOOO. I'm still waiting on the sweet baby kits. I have no idea when I will get them. The kits look awesome so I'd like to know if in the future I can purchase them some other way since CK has lost me as a customer.

Hi all, if you are still looking for We R Memory Keeper's 3 ring albums, Wolf Camera has them 20 % off again this month. So they are $19.99 and if you get 5, which I know sounds like a lot, but you do get FREE SHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!!! Just thought you would like to know another option. :)

This is the first time I have ordered from CK and I am NOT happy. After multiple phone calls and e-mails spanning 2 weeks, I still have not been helped. I will NOT be ordering from CK again. It is unfortunate that CK is ignoring so many of its customers.

Update...After many attempts (and contacting vgroth as noted above) customer service has finally resolved my order issues and have sent me the proper order. I honestly feel like I had to fight to get my product that was already charged to my card. On the up side - the baby kits are AWESOME! I'd be hesitant to order again in the future but I'd probably do so only because these kits are so amazing. Thanks! :)

This international number does not work. CK is the hardest company to get ahold of. I ordered 2 baby kits and have recieved the Holiday card kit and not the baby kit. And I have no phone number that works for me here in Canada. Toll free or direct dial.
I will try email. But a phone number would be nice.
