for example ...
So if you're keeping up with my blog, you know that Sunday, December 28th was my day #1 for Project 365. That was yesterday (as I'm writing this on Monday). Many of you made it your first day also. Some of you doing it next Sunday. Some of you are starting your week on Monday so that a weekend can be viewed together. However you're choosing to approach this, I can sense your excitement.
I know I'm just repeating myself but remember: You do not need to have the kit to get started with Project 365. You just need to be taking a picture every day. Of ANYthing in your life. It could be the Christmas decorations that are still up, your kids working on a puzzle, the inside of your refrigerator, the trash sitting on the curb waiting to be picked up, your toothbrush sitting on the bathroom counter. A-N-Y-thing.
For example, this is my picture from yesterday.

Great picture? Not really. Do I love this picture? Absolutely. It's a piece of our life yesterday. It's our little world. It's video-chatting with my brother in Utah, a few of his kids, and my parents who happen to be visiting them right now. And it also happened to be Kevin's birthday.
Oh -- and what's even further telling, is the other "stuff" in the picture. As I'm taking the picture from my office chair, you can also see that I'm giving Crew a bottle, Claire is climbing behind me, I have my blog open since I was reading your comments over the weekend, my inbox is showing, etc.
This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about. Just take a picture of something that you are doing today. Take your camera to work, on your errands, to your friend's house. Or just snap around the house. My approach to this album is that it's a family effort. Even though my children are young, I'll be passing the camera over to them once in a while. David too, of course. And I'll get my kindergartner involved in writing. And our pictures? I'm thinking random. No theme, really. Just whatever strikes us day-to-day. A "total" picture of our life.
Maybe once in a while, we'll do a theme of the week. Like ... for a whole week, all of our pictures will be school-related or chores-related or people-we-love-related or prices-of-life related (keep receipts that week, take a picture of the gas pump, the McD's drive-thru menu, show pieces of a few bills, etc.).
I hope the wheels in your head are spinning (in a good way), and I also hope that you see this as a fun project that will NOT be overwhelming. A different and liberating approach to scrapbooking in 2009. If you're just now tuning in, scroll down and visit my recent blog posts about Project 365. And for those of you leaving comments, I'm not ignoring your excellent questions ... I'm going to address those soon (before the kit goes on sale this Thursday).
In the meantime, since so many of you are wondering the price, I'll tell you that it'll be UNDER $40.

I. can. not. w a i t!!!!!!
Already started yesterday and I think I've convinced a couple of friends to join me!!
I also started yesterday!! My sister is going to order one too! How exciting!
Thanks again for the great ideas :o)
I started yesterday, too. But I haven't decided if I will make my book start on Mondays. In any event, I took my photo yesterday.
I love the idea of the trash...seriously, we have the biggest toy bag possible filled with wrapping paper. I just want to make sure it gets picked up by recycling, not garbage!
I'd just like to know WHAT TIME the kit will go on sale on Jan. 1. I want to make sure I can get it before it sells out!
I've said this before, but I'm really excited about Project 365! I think I'm going to start on Sundays as well and went ahead and took a pic yesterday. I've also decided that I'm going to carry Project 365 over to my blog and share my photo and journalling there every day. It's going to help me keep up with the project until I receive my kit and also I'll always have something to blog about...even if I don't have anything to blog about. LOL Should be fun!
This is going to be so much fun!!! I j=hope I can stay as motivated as I am right now for the whole year.
Question? How do I get this kit? Must have it!! I'm like my daughter on Christmas eve who couldn't sleep cause she was way too excited! Do we order online? Is there a phone number we can call? I'll be in Disney World on Jan1 and I need to get this kit! Don't want to wait til I get home it may be sold out!!
My first photo was yesterday- my 2 year-old hugging his 99 year-old great grandma. I am super excited!
I'm looking at this as a photo project more than a scrapping project so my brain realizes I only need to take photos and capture moments- and save the creative part for my other pages. I think then it seems more do-able for me.
I also do not print my photos from home so I'm planning on having a folder on my computer with the photos organized. I'll hold the place for each photo with a post-it so I know what goes where.
Becky- I'm amazed that you are tackling yet another KOTM and 3 little ones! Good luck on your 365, too!
Question: Will this kit be offered again next year? I'd like to try it out this year and if I like it, buy another next year. I don't want to buy several now incase I don't like the concept.
I am so excited. I had not thought of starting this yesterday until I read your blog this morning. Good thing I took a pic yesterday! I am also keeping a small journal in my purse so I can write my thoughts for the day and my pic so I can keep up with this. I can't wait for the kit. I also wonder if I can call a 800 number since I won't be around internet on the 1st.
Becky, Are you having problems with your website? I tried to place a book in my cart but it wouldn't let me order it. I thought it was my computer but my husbands computer had problems also.
Will the kit have "year specific" items? I did the 365+1 project this year and I'm not sure I want to do it again for 2009. However, I'd like to buy a kit and do the year next year - maybe an ongoing, every other year project. I'd buy a kit now, but would rather not have if it has a lot of 2009 embellishments. Also, if this kit will be offered again next year, I could wait til then to order one. I really wish I would've had the kit for the past year. It would've been easier to use that what I did.
I can't wait to get started! I like the Mon-Sun. idea to get the weekend days together.
I'm curious too if you plan to offer it every year, or if I will need to order a whole bunch of them. :)
OK, here's my only hang up...I have a hard enough time widdling down the number of photos I take from an event or a trip to make them fit in a two page spread. I kind of like the idea that it will be just one picture from an event, but it kind of worries me. How are people thinking they are going to deal with this? Thanks!
Becky,
I've never ordered one of your kits before, but I'm totally wanting this one. I snapped my first picture of the week yesterday. Funny, I've been carrying my camera in my purse for about two weeks now, just to capture every day life while I'm out and about. Who knew that would be good practice for this 365 project?!
Stacy :-)

Hi Becky! I just have to ask...you mentioned in a previous post that this will be how you document your life from now on. Does that mean that you wont be doing the sketch type layouts any more? I'm really excited about participating in this project, but a teeny bit bummed at the thought of you not doing "normal" layouts anymore. Please clarify for a long time fan! ;)
SWEET!
I am so excited to start this project and am resolved to stick with it! (a new's year resolution) as too many years have gone by way too fast without scrapbooking those memories...
I started yesterday with a picture. We were all in the car on an 8 hour drive home from my moms in Vermont...the picture? The kids sitting in their carseats in the car!
Thanks for the inspiration Becky!
I love your picture from Sunday. I took a similar picture from our ichat with my sister and her family on Christmas Day. They are in Ukraine adopting a little boy and we got to see and chat with them all - a wonderful holiday memory! I am looking forward to 365 and documenting life in 2009 - Happy New Year to you and your family!
Kristine
I am really looking forward to this project...although I am not starting until the 1st and I also plan to carry it over to my blog. I am a little afraid though that they kits may be hard to get a hold of...that they may sell out...which would really be a bummer.
I love the idea of Project 365. Thanks, Becky!
Because I'm an organization freak, I plan on putting this album in my own binder that matches my other family albums. (I like the unity on my shelf.)
I also think that in the future, I would like a kit, or individual products that are sold seperately(stickers, page protectors, etc.) that allow me to use my own choice of colors and paper for the cards. Yes, I know that it would be more work, and I still like what's available in the kit, but I would love to have a little more customization. Just a thought for future product development...
Sooo excited to get started!
Looking forward to it! It'll be tons of fun! :D
Becky,
I so love this idea! I have a question about the page protectors. Will both horizontal and vertical pics work in them? This will be good to know since I have started snapping my pictures.
Thanks,
Jewel
SO EXCITED about this!!! I started yesterday, but am thinking about doing the Mon-Sun thing now, so weekend days can be together. LOVE your ideas about "theme" weeks. I'm thinking my husband contributing a week would be cool, since he travels for work. I can get a glimpse into his week. Love the questions: 1) will this be offered each year? and 2) will both horizontal and vertical pics work in the protectors? Also, will you create a group somewhere where we can share our "weeks?" I think you did that for another kit of yours.
Thanks Becky!

Hi Becky!
I love checking your blog every week and I'm sooooooo excited about this project. I've been sharing my excitement and info about your kit with my boyfriend, his mom, my sister (whose name is Becky!), my son, my mom-everyone!! It didnt occur to me to start taking pics on sunday until you mentioned it-so I've already taken my picture for yesterday and today and are keeping notes on paper until I get the kit from you. I'm going to have so much fun with this project and actually do not feel overwhelmed at all about doing it as well as continuing our family album for trips etc. Thanks so much for the info, your thoughts and inspiration!! I LOVE the 2 school kits and baby kit I've already gotten from you previously-they were great quality and value! I'm looking forward to Thursday!
love, Rachel in Virginia
This is such a fabulous idea and I am so excited! I started yesterday and can't wait to order the kit :)
Thank you for the great idea for theme weeks! And sharing the photo/journaling duties! Love these!
I live in Canada and am wondering if I can purchase the kit as well? This is TOO good to pass up!!!
Becky...I can't wait...I do have one teensy concern however. I have had so much trouble buying kits on the website since the new design and way of ordering has gone into place. No matter what I do I always have to call and place my order. Here's my concern. I really must have this kit, but I know that on jan 1st CK offices will likely be closed, so what if the kit sells out online? I realize this isn't your problem, but I think I might just cry for 365 days if I don't get this truly awesome kit. Also, I don't know if anyone else is in the same boat I am. Do you have any suggestions? You can bet that on Jan 2nd I'll call in if I can't place my order online. I just know that in the past your kits have sold out really quickly and I believe this kit will sell out faster than any other kit you've ever had because non-scrappers will likely buy it too. OK...enough worrying...Have a very blessed week with your family.
i am very interested in this, but i'm not sure that i'm prepared to forego all my other scrapping methods. i really love 8.5x11 size too... wish you'd do a kit in that size.
love all your thoughts on this becky ... they're exactly how i'm looking at this project. totally random, everyday photos ... of anything and everything.
and just my thoughts to the person asking about narrowing down pics from an event to just one photo. it really can be that simple ... just one photo. just because you do this project ... doesn't mean you still can't scrapbook the events in full detail. this is just a simple overview of the year ... of whatever you want this to be. then you can scrapbook any and all photos in any other way you want ... in your regular scrapbooks. that is where you would focus on getting larger events and stuff down on layouts .. with lots of photos!
I took my first picture today, and as I loaded it on my computer I was wondering how you are organizing your pics. 365 is a lot, are you doing monthly subcategories? or do you print them out at once and put them in everyday folders that make more sense?
I am so loving this idea and cannot wait till the first!
Side note....I know you are a super busy woman, but are you going to make another printable calendar like you did last year? I have loved it all this year and would love it if you did something similar again this year!
What a wonderful idea! I can't wait to order & get this kit. I would love to know what pen you used for your example in CK. I love finding just the right pen & want to be prepared!
cant wait for all the questions to be answered sadly I will be away till new years so will have to read them when I return (luckily with the time difference NZ time here) i can do it...sadly the only thing that is holding me back is the postage to NZ... it's double the price of the kit.. and then with the exchange rate!!!!!!!!!!!! mmmmmmmmmmm not sure now
love the kit though
This is really exciting! What a great idea, Becky! I started taking pictures just in case I decide to start my album on Sunday...not sure yet!
I have a question...IS THERE GOING TO BE ENOUGH OF THESE KITS FOR EVERYONE??? LOL!! Sounds like everyone wants one!!! Can't wait to get it!
Can you give us an idea of how you are going to organize 365 'random' photos on your computer and stay on top of printing all of them? That is my only hang up with this whole concept.
With Project 365 do you intend to still scrapbook pages and where will you put them? Will the album for Project 365 just have that kit in it or will you incorporate other pages you scrapbook throughout the year?
Thanks.
I have seen this comment with a couple of other people, but I am wondering where I buy this kit when it goes on sale on January 1st. I would like to buy it as well as soon as it is released so that I can make sure to get one before they sell out. Will you let me know? tamberine02@msn.com TOTALLY EXCITED!!!
Hi Becky
I would love to order this kit - but live in New Zealand - so is this possible????
Thanks!
WEBSITE PROBLEM!! Becky, Sherri's comment was that she AND her husband were both having problems with your SHOP site. I am also having that issue. When you are in SHOP and you click on BUY NOW it directs you to a blank page, the tab will toggle back and for to CONNECTING and COMMUNITY CREATING KEEPSAKES and at the bottom it will toggle back and for to DONE and to the box that fills up while searching. Am I making this clear, could you have a look at it. Are these kits going to be on the creating keepsakes web on January 1st or just on Your site. If so, I'm in a pickle unless I can access your site. I contacted the web personnel who gave me a 1 800 number to order a Becky Higgins DVD but they didn't know anything about PROJECT 365. I'll send you my email address if you need it. Thanks for any help to how I get this handled.
Are this available Thursday right after midnight or regular business hours. We stay close to home on New Years EVe, so I will be ready to buy right after midnight.
My Ami, and I are starting our year on the first and making our week go Thursday to Wednesday.
Opps, Becky. It wasn't click on Shop- Okay it goes like PRODUCTS, hen SEE DETAILS, then BUY NOW, then you get the toggle back and forth. I know I'm making this confusing.
Hi Becky!
I am excited about this! I actually have done this for 2 years now, but on a more rudimentary level. I have taken a picture a day and placed it in a day planner (just one of the spiral bound ones) and then write a little about the day. I used a 5x7 one last year and am finishing up an 8x10 one this year. It is so much fun to look back on everything and I still feel like I'm scrapbooking. I am going to do this with you and can't wait to see the progress! Thanks!

Dear Becky!
I am a grandmother and mother of two daughters in the scrapbook industry! (Joy Macdonell & Kesley Anderson) It is hard to keep up with their creativity, but, as I looked at your product line, I realize how many of your books I own and depend upon rather heavily! Thank you for all those layout ideas! My scrapbook store owner (Elise) here in Mt. Pleasant, SC is encouraging us to work on our 365 Days and focus on ourselves, making the book our own observations about life, our activities, our thoughts! So, today (my first day) I took lunch to ELISE and got a manicure and pedicure! It was all about me, and I have a picture of my toes to prove it! I know that my precious 13 grands will sneak into the book often, but what a great way for me to be me! Thank you for all your ideas and inspiration! Good luck to everyone who undertakes this project!
Sincerely,
Ginna Fishburne
OK, I am into the kit (totally) but what happens at the end of this year? Will there be another kit? You see here is the thing, I can't afford 50 of them, but at the same time, how can I know how many to purchase???? Will this be something that you come out with every year or so so that we can keep this up year after year?
Becky, does this have to be done every day to make the kit work? Life is inevitable and sometimes things happen where you're not capturing it w/pictures (the whole family getting sick, etc). I love the idea but am afraid that I won't be able to complete it when things get busy. I don't take pictures every day. I was wondering if I could maybe focus on two weeks of the month instead and just have more pictures/journaling. Thanks!
Hi Becky,
just a quick question. With Project 365 as your new way of Family Scrapping - will there still be more sketches for those of us who need to use up heaps of supplies and scrap the old fashioned way. I love your sketches and basically each and every one of my layouts is based on one of your sketches!
Happy New Year
Suzanne
For those who are concerned about not having the kit, I did this project this year with just a photo album with 4 photos/page. I want to get the kit because of the extra spots for journalling, etc., but I will probably still do 365 without it if I have to. Also, if you you feel that not taking a picture EVERY day means you "fail", don't be afraid to take a few extra ones now and then and use them for "nearby" days when you don't have a day-specific picture. For example, does it really matter if the picture you take of your coffee pot is put in for today, tomorrow or the next day? Takes the pressure off a bit I find!
Pam
I can't wait to get this kit! I started taking my pictures yesterday and today I convinced my friend to do this project too. Thanks for putting this together.
Ok. I am super pumped about doing this project. It actually seems like something I can keep on top of and actually complete. :)
Just a few questions -
1. Are you going to keep doing sketches? Cause they are super helpful to me.
2. How do you recommend keeping the pics organized before they get printed in order to keep them straight?
You are AMAZING!!!!
Becky, this kit looks so perfect! I'm in graduate school, and have about 10 minutes of free time every day, and this project looks completely do-able! I love the quality of the KOTM products too - and I received lots of compliments on my KOTM Christmas cards this year!
For all who want some more info on the kit here's a link to CK:

Thanks again, Lori, SLC
Not sure if someone messed up or what, but if you go to http://community.creatingkeepsakes.com/store/category/kit_of_the_month then you can order the kit now.
Hi Becky,
Just a personal preference question. Do you plan on using the 365 album for yourself or are you going to keep using the We R Memory Keepers albums you have in the past with the label on the spinel?
MHedstrom, I go thereand only get a blank space where the item should be. Is my computer just full of gremlins, or what? Has anyone gone to the SHOP site and found this for sell already.
it goes on sale thursday morning.
I'm definitely interested, but I'm worried that I'll get behind during a busy week and then won't be motivated to stick with it. Anyone else?
Also, how are you organizing your pictures to be printed so that you remember which goes with which date?
Lastly, are you planning on replacing your traditional scrapping with this for 2009, or doing this in addition.
I'm very excited about this project. In the past, I've always been very "caught up" with my scrapbooking, working on the previous year during the current year. But since starting to homeschool, I've fallen way behind. It got to the point where I figured I would just close up shop and sell my supplies on Ebay!
This project has given me the push to keep on scrapping, just in a different format. Plus, with the current year's process simplified, I won't feel overwhelmed by the previous years that still need completion! Hooray!
My hubby's the photographer in our family, and he has taken a photo each day so far this week, so I guess I've officially started!!
Looks like they've fixed the error at the CK site, but it did show up before, let me order, and give me an order number too. I'm guessing someone jumped the gun and put it up too early.
So excited.
An Aussies out there that have worked out the time difference - can you tell me WHEN we should order - is it Friday morning or what? I am too tired to figure it out - just SO don't want to miss out!
Also do you order off Becky's site or CK?
Thanks
Aaaaack! The waiting is just killing me. I HAVE to get my hands on one of the Project 365s. I'm not sure when I'll start mine, but I took pix yesterday and today, so I'm already on a roll.
Do you know what time the release will start?
oh my gosh!!! I'm so excited about this! I want to get this for my Mom & me! She got a new camera & I think this is a perfect way for her to definitely get some use out of her camera. My Dad's usually the one taking pictures. So it's new for her to be the photographer. LOL
Thanks for always coming up with such AMAZING kits/projects!!!
Hi Becky! I'm concerned, as others are, about getting this kit. I just hope you have plenty on hand! Please give us instructions on how to order.
My best friend and I are having a planning session and planning out what we will take pictures of (for days when not much happens), so it doesn't sneak up on us. Please continue to share your ideas on the pics, I LOVE the idea of one week being about prices, etc.
Will you be sharing your pictures and completed weekly pages here? I hope you share as many as you can.
can we buy this in the uk?
For the Aussie girls - I read that the kit is released at 9:00am MST so I think for us, that is 2:00am (brisbane) on the 2nd Jan.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong ;o)
The Beatty's said...
OK, here's my only hang up...I have a hard enough time widdling down the number of photos I take from an event or a trip to make them fit in a two page spread. I kind of like the idea that it will be just one picture from an event, but it kind of worries me. How are people thinking they are going to deal with this? Thanks!
My plan for this kit (and why I LOVE the concept so much) is to pick a key photo of the day. I like the possibility of variety here and really capturing it *all* in our daily lives. Those tri-fold journaling cards will allow me to write journaling for those big events that I normally get behind on and forget all the good moments that I would have wanted to journal.
So the 365 will give me a basis for future layouts - which I will never give up creating (and it doesn't matter what size you do - ppr size can always be modified from 12x12, which IS included in the kit) - that I can go back to later. Anything important enough to follow up on will be there to find.
I think what is key with this kit is that since you may not always have some big deal event to include, it forces you to think about what little details you could slip in - I think Becky mentioned a receipt. It could be a paint chip, piece of a bag where you shopped that day, piece of a news article, picture of something on your wish list, title of a book you are reading, scan child's art/writing, etc. Think about the mundane things that make you/your family who you are.
I just want to be sure about where I am ordering from? The CK site?
This blog? At 10 CST right?
Jill
What time will the 365 be available to order?
What lens do you have on your camera?
Thanks
Missy
I plan on sticking with this project too! For those that are worried about event pictures... I have some extra page protectors from her Baby Kit with the 12-slots and the long journaling tags. I think I will use them with this kit on weeks where it is my daughter's and son's birthday, fourth of july, and Christmas. I'll just stick it inbetween the normal weekly two-page spread. If you don't have this kit, I think that Cropper Hopper makes divided pages as well. As for the verticle pictures... Did everyone see the sample pages that Jessica Sprague and Elizabeth Kartchner did? They just put the picture where the journalling would be. They looked very cool!
... now to hope that the kit gets here within a resonable time!
OH I miss your mom and the apron. Never seen without wearing it.
J
I plan on starting on Thursday, January 1, but running my weeks from Monday to Sunday. My first week will be a partial week which I will put on the right side of the first sheet protector where you showed your introduction page. I plan on using one of the 12 x 12 pieces of paper that comes with the kit to develop a basic introduction page of my own. The year will end on the left, or back, side of a sheet protector and I can do another 12 x 12 for the end of the year. Not sure if I am wording this correctly or not. Anyway, my mom and I are very excited about doing this together. I also plan on having my husband take a picture a week and maybe my three-year-old daughter do some "journaling." Thanks so much!

Becky,
I don't know if you will see this, but I've been trying to leave a comment on today's post all day and have been getting errors.....

I am so excited about this project! I hope there will be enough of this kit to go around. My mom and I are each doing our own album. We both started on Sunday. I took a picture of some invitations I spent the day making, and she took a picture of her new popcorn popper that she tried out for the first time. We each bought a desk calendar so we can write down what picture we took each day and why. That will help us until the kits get to us and it will help in case we get a couple weeks behind putting things in the actual album.
I can't wait!
Trying to decide to get the baby kit for my daughter or this kit.
Tough choice. Either way, I'll probably do an online version for extended family.
I have been trying to leave a comment on your post for today (Dec. 30th) to try and win a Project 365 kit but it's not letting me leave a comment. I'm thinking blogger must quit taking comments after the buzzilioneth comment - I can't believe all the comments! So I thought I'd try my luck posting n another post - sorry, but I want to try my luck at winning one of these kits. Love, love, love this idea!
Denise in Las Flores, California
I also have been trying to post to win - but I keep getting an error message, I'm sorry, but this is too wonderful to pass up!
This is the greatest project I have ever heard of it! I am so going to jump in and do it - starting the 1st of the year! My family and I deserve to do something special together, it's going to be sooo much fun :) TFS!!!
Happy New Year!
