holiday tip of the day

Got a lot of envelopes to lick? David's big contribution to our Christmas cards this year, was sealing all the envelopes (oh - and fixing the temper tantrum that our printer had at one point). Know what smarty-pants did? He used a foam craft brush, got it wet and used THAT instead of his tongue.

There you go. A tip from David. : )

You go, David! I use a sponge and do about 8 at a time.... Just line the envelopes up on top of each other so only the adhesive part is showing and then wet all 8 at a time...close them quickly!! Merry Christmas everyone!!

My trick is to affix the RETURN ADDRESS label over the seam. No *licking* or *brushes* necessary!!

Have a wonderful Christmas!

If you don't have a foam craft brush, a corner of a wash cloth works pretty well. Just make sure you wring it out and when it gets too dry just dip it in a bowl of water again. Didn't think of a foam brush though.

Becky,

I haven't licked an envelope since my girlfriend pointed out a report on roach eggs. Evidently roaches eat the type of glue used commonly on envelopes. Subsequently they also lay eggs in the glue on the envelopes in the factories.

I'm glad David used a brush!

I use a glue stick...I guess anything other than getting papercuts on your tongue is a good thing!

That's a great idea. I just used a wet paper towel. By the time I was done the paper towel was brown, so I'm glad that wasn't my tongue.

My hubby got that task too, and he came up with the exact same idea! Smart guys! I think my hubby was like...hmmm...she's got so much stuff in that room, there has got to be something I can use for this! Oh wait, remember the gazillion brushes we bought when Michaels had them 20/$1???

I took a shallow dish of water and used my finger with just the tiniest hint of water and ran it along the edge of the envelope. Happy Holidays everyone!
