understanding the concept of project 365

Hope you enjoyed your weekend! Our family got a little snow fix a couple hours up the road and into the mountains a bit (Flagstaff, AZ). We may be in the 60s right now, but snow isn't too far away.

Crew stayed pretty toasty warm with lots of layers (3 hats should do it!). Here's the little snuggly bug snoozing in my arms while Porter & Claire were sledding and playing in an igloo with their cousins.

You guys have great questions about the Project 365 kit. I will soon be addressing those specific questions with a little Q&A. Today I wanted to further explain the concept of this project, this kit.

It’s a simple idea, really. Perhaps you have heard of this before. Maybe you’ve even done this yourself. Preserve a piece of your life every day this year. Can you imagine the end result? Really – I want you to imagine it. What an awesome representation of your existence.

A note to the scrapbooker: Project 365 is not another scrapbooking project to add to my list. Rather, this is actually replacing my traditional way of scrapbooking for the past 15 years. This is truly revolutionary for me as a scrapbook artist and family historian.

If you’re like me, there has always been so much focus on events, trips, and “favorite” pictures. But what about all the in between stuff? The everyday stuff that really is our LIFE? The pictures we take around the house “just because”? What happens to all of that? THIS IS IT. This is how we show a truer representation of our life … and, of course, the “big” stuff too!

A note to the non-scrapbooker: I can’t think of a better way for you to get a scrapbook without actually scrapbooking! Are you excited!? Do you get it? You literally are slipping things into page protectors. That’s it! Could it be any easier?

This is fantastic for anyone – male or female, adult or child, single or married. Never touched scrapooking in your life before? No problem. No skills needed. Seriously. Oh, except the ability to slip things into page protectors. Can you handle that?

Back to everyone: I tried this concept of taking a picture every day last year. After being frustrated with not being able to find the perfect way to store and display my photos, I knew this would be the next kit I wanted to develop! The Project 365 kit is custom to highlighting a week at a time for a full year.

Getting involved in this project will make you even more aware of your blessings, your priorities, and your surroundings. Don’t think you do anything worthy of photographing? Think again. What you think is mundane and ordinary is actually a collection of very cool & unique factors of your life. Not someone else. YOU.

Still think you’re life isn’t worth recording? Then let this project be the motivating factor to get out there and do something! Go for a walk (with your camera). Host a dinner party. Fly a kite. Try a new restaurant. Re-decorate a room.

Like I said, this is revolutionizing the way I scrapbook and already feel so liberated with this new approach to preserving and recording my family’s life. Are you with me?

I'm so excited to start this project for 2009. I've never thought about taking a picture everyday to look at life. How wonderful it will be to look back at the completed project to reflect and cherish all the blessings we have been given. I plan on ordering a few kits, like many other scrappers. So hopefully there will be plenty available.

I'm with you. I'm very excited about actually getting something done. However, I'm a little nervous about only being able to do one photo per day. What about those days where so much happens and you get tons of good photos?

My first thought was, "No, this one is not for me." But then I look at all the years I have backed up and so want to do but seem overwhelming the further I get away from them. Unfortunately, I like chronological. That's a hang-up. Now I'm thinking, maybe this will be the way to stay current. But what about the big things with lots of cool pictures? Can't wait to see it in more detail.

i'm so excited for this kit! i was wondering though, if it is 2009 specific, or if i could buy a few kits for years to come and 2008 since i did project 365 this year.

beautiful snow pictures! so pretty, and snuggly bug so very adorable. and um... is six degrees here today, so i am JEALOUS! ;o) and i'm very anxious about the 365 project! i started a photo-a-day since brayden's 2nd bday in september (which you can see on my blog if you're interested). so now i want a "family" type one and this is perfect!

Ah 60's sounds so wonderful right now. It's -17 in beautiful white Lakeville Minnesota right now...even three hats isn't enough for that.

Love the Project 365 concept! Can't wait to order it!!

This sounds like a great project- our family has a lot of changes planned for 2009! I think I will do the photo a day and then, if it is a special occasion, scrapbook the rest of the photos. I am thinking of this more as a photo journal of life and picking the best photos to display. It is definitely "do-able" for me...I am planning to print once a week and slip them in the protectors. I love the KOTMs!!

After getting a sneak peek of this kit during my golden ticket trip to CK and learning of the concept I for one am very excited about this kit. As I look back over my scrapbooks my favorite are my year in review and what better way to review the year. Thanks Becky and I think the kit will be a hit.

I think this is a wonderful concept. To be able to review an entire year of your life it wonderful. It is a way of appreciating what you have and growing closer to family by looking at everything everyone does in a year. Thank you once again for creating the kit.

Becky, Thank you! I can't wait to take this on! For me, it's more of a "photo journal" than a family scrapbook - because I plan to make it from "my" perspective and the way I see what's important in our day. The kids all have their books about the highlights of their lives - but this one speaks to my heart - about the way "I" see it! I love this concept and can't wait to get the kit!!

We are going to make this project for my sister with stage 4 cancer so that her kids have at least this much of the last months of her life. I hope there are enough kits available because I think this will be a MASSIVE ordering nightmare from all the attention this kit is getting. I plan on getting 3 myself. Thank you, Becky, for this awesome idea. Merry Christmas to your family!

Becky- Merry Christmas from Cleveland- If you are missing the snow, you can have ours- It's 6 degrees, (-25 degrees wind chill) and snowy here. When are you doing a project 365 give away?

I'm with Lindi, anything Digital? I could never manage this on paper, kit or no kit, but a Shutterfly book to drag and drop and print, maybe by month, I'm so there! I'm normally a traditional scrapper, but not 365, although I plan on participating.

Ok until I read the post from Mary in IL I wasn't so sure I was on board...all I could think was my life is so boring...well this will be something my family can look back on the little details of life that may not seem so important now but really are!

Thanks again for your insipration Becky and may God Bless your sister and her family "Mary in IL".

Can you design one that would cover 5-10 years too? THAT would be the ultimate!!
Have a great Christmas with your family!

I'm not so sure about this yet. Are you not going to scrapbook anything else in 2009?

No more following sketches for layouts? No Christmas layout with lots of photos?

Just curious...not sure I'm ready to let go of everything else.

Yes!! I am with you!! This is so amazing! I can't wait to get started.

I'll still continue to do some layouts, just because I love the process...but this will definitely lessen the guilt about not doing EVERY event!

Thank you so much for yet another GREAT kit!! I can't wait to hear more....

And yes, please advise if you plan on doing another one next year?? I would hate to try to come up with all this goodness on my own! (I already know I'll be an addict about this Project and will want a new one EVERY year!)

Again, thank you so much!!

Sounds intriguing. I'm looking forward to seeing more about the kit. I am not a kit kinda person, I like to do my own thing but I may get one just as a foundation to alter... I tried doing the 365 photos for 2008 and totally blew it. I Only ended up with about 100 days. I didn't take a single photo in the month of February!

Just wondering if you have any idea how much the postage will be for international buyers prior to the kit going on sale so that I can work out if its going to be too expensive or not.

Thank you for your help

Are we excited yet? I was looking at the image of the supplies, I did not see page protectors. Are these 6 or 8 pockets? Where do you get them, in bulk. Did a brief look in internet but did not locate them. Can anyone give me a clue--that would be very "elf-ful" Merry Christmas.

Hi Becky, well you would love South Africa,we have aicons on all the time. Last night at 8pm we were at 31c today a bit cooler at 29c. This is an awesome project but the international postage is so ridiculous, it pretty much stops us from ordering. Wish you had a distributor in South Africa for your kits.

Love this idea - and for days when there are more pictures I will just do a traditional layout for another album and keep this as my "diary."

What size are the printed pictures? I am having a tough time figuring that out from the photos and video.
