evidence of someone

Do you have evidence of someone's existence in your home? This photo, submitted by Abby W., is evidence of a certain cutie little person in her family.

And this piece of evidence was submitted by Denise:

And Kristen took a picture of something that might even be a familiar piece of evidence in your home:

Look around to find little evidences that you just may want to photograph today.

Empty toilet paper roll, so right on. At my house it would be the empty roll with a new roll balanced on top but never actually put on.

Fun ideas. I am having a blast thinking of photos for each day. This has made me think of what I want to remember about my families life.

Thanks everyone!

Love that other people have the same problem with the toilet paper roll in their home too! Really? He can take the time to get a new roll but he just sets it on top? It's too hard to put it on the roll? It drives me insane!

Love these ideas, Becky. Keep them coming. You are continue to inspire. I want to be sure that I'm still doing this project on August 27th, and October 27th, etc. It's already increased the number of photos I take in a month, which is great. Thanks again!

Man, am I loving this 365 thing!!! I wasn't fortunate enough to get a kit, but have posted every day on my blog and yes, I have found things every day to take pictures of. They may not be important to anyone but me, but it has shown me how very blessed I am. www.threadsandscraps.blogspot.com

i love the idea. i'll probably do something a little different though. evidence of someone missing. my husband is deployed to Iraq right now and there is definitly someone missing in our house. I'll have to take some time to think of a picture for it though. Maybe the empty spot on the bed. Or the cammies all packed up, not being used. Or the phone, because it is my only link to my husband (when he is able to call). Thanks for the idea Becky.

I am really loving this project. I like that it is small attainable steps toward a big result (the album). My kids enjoy helping me figure out what the picture of the day is and often are using their own cameras to capture the day as well. Not being super computer savvy I was wondering if you had any advice for printing on the journaling tags with your computer. The way they are connected in three pieces... is it possible to set the printer to print on each one. Is there a certain setting you know of to make this work? Thanks in advance,
Heidi H.

oh, love the toilet paper roll.

also, wanted to say despite all the issues and e-mails from ck with this kit, i.am.so.lov.ing.it!! i am approaching mine more as a weekly project and putting pics from the week (even if there are 4 from one day-like my youngest's 1st b-day last week) and journalling for each day that i have taken pics or for each picture-whatever works out best for me. i got my kit on the 12th and didn't REALLY love it until i got my pics printed this past weekend and most of my notes done. i just need to finish up last week and i'm caught up. i plan on updating it weekly. thank you becky for such a fab kit!!

Becky, one quick question. I did receive my kit and I love it but I decided to use some of the digital images you posted too. So, I am typing one week of journalling and hand-writing the next. But there has to be an easier way of typing these. I am using Adobe Photoshop 7 (I have PSE7 too but still learning features). Is there a way to set up a text box so the text will line up with the pre-printed lines? What font? What size? Please let me know. I may give up on the digital portion if I can't get it done faster. Thanks.

I, too, love the empty toilet paper roll. Who couldn't relate to that picture?

I am still enjoying and keeping up with the picture a day. Even my co-workers ask....What's the photo today going to be!

Here are my thirty pictures that I've done so far.

Shawn- I might be able to help you with your digital text box question. I use PSE 6 for the Mac but it's for the most part the same at 7. First draw your text box by the clicking on the text tool and making your box. Type something in it immediately (at least one letter) before clicking away from it or it will disappear. This frustrated me until I figured out the text boxes. Type in your text and don't worry too much about the formatting, then when you are done, make sure your text box fits within the tag the way you want it. After that adjust the point size and the LEADING (the space between lines)....the leading values are pt value just like font sizes and the leading box is in the top bar right next to the font size box. The leading will help you text sit on the lines, and adjust your text box up or down as needed.

After you have one "good" box made, just copy it onto other tags and change the wording. You won't have to go through that ordeal more than once.

I hope this helps. I struggled for a while learning PSE and text boxes, so I felt your pain and had to post!

Shawn- Oops, okay so the "leading" box is not right next to the font size box but it's the only other fill-in-the-point-value box on the top when selecting the text tool. ;-)

I love the idea of the "evidence" left around the house. As soon as I saw that first picture I laughed because it looks SOOOO much like my house -- always little things left set up around my house -- evidence of my daughter, and her active imagination. There is so much going on in her little world of make-believe!! It always makes me smile when I see the little things she's left set up like that -- especially in unexpected places, and I love the idea of documenting it!

Also, I loved the comment by "Fontaine," about also documenting the evidence of someone missing. That is a huge part of our familiy life this year, as my husband is deployed as well. One of the main reasons I wanted to do Project 365 is to document the happenings of our lives that he is missing this year by not being home. But I also very much like the idea of documenting specific things that are different in our home without him here -- such as empty side of the bed, (as Fontaine suggested), but also photos of my computer screen with emails to/from him, photos of care packages that we have gotten together to mail to him, and also the mundane household chores that he would normally do if he was home, but that I have had to pick up in his abssence (i.e. putting out the trash, etc) All of these things are a HUGE part of our lives this year, so thanks to Fontaine for the reminder to also include evidence of who or what is "missing" around here on a daily basis! :)

When I thought about this project at first, I just thought to myself "I don't have anything of interest going on in my house" and yet the pictures above are so simple - I love all three. Normally the boys in my house like to leave trains or cars on or at the very bottom of the stairs or their wellington boots strewn between the back door and the front.

I am going to have to be more vigilant about what I can capture albeit simple :-)

Cheryl,

Picasa 3 has an option to put text on your pictures. Double click on the picture you want to add text to. On the left side of the screen there is a box listing different options. Under "Basic Fixes" choose "Text." You can then choose what font you want (from those listed), size, placement, etc. When you are done, click "Apply." Then click on "File" - upper left corner - and "Save a Copy..." Now you have the changes saved and can print out your new photo.

Oh, I love all three pictures but most of all the first one, I will most definitely document all my sons toys spread all over the house.
Our son is adopted, we longed for a child for years and from one day to another our life changed completely as this amazing three-year-old stormed in to our hearts and home. I still, more than a year later can’t believe how lucky we are to have him in our life and I so want this to show in all my scrapbook pages and project.

I live in Sweden and didn’t get a kit but I use page protectors from Fancy Pants and just print Beckys awesome journaling cards and write my journaling on them, like this http://julpysslarensvra.blogspot.com/2009/01/jag-rullar-allts-finns-jag.html. I don’t even bother to separate them, I just slip them in after using my corner punch and I love the result. I’ve even ordered more page protectors and will do a similar album for 2008 even though I don’t have pictures from every single day (but enough to fill 52 weeks, that’s for sure!). Making these year-albums is such a wonderful idea, you document a whole year and still have so much more time left to scrapbook all the funny and important little stories and events with more depth.

Thank you Becky!
