misc. 365 questions
Noticing a few more questions about Project 365 (specifically about the kit this time, not just the concept).
Q: What's the ribbon for?
A: Anything you want! Just a fun extra that we added to the kit so that you can incorporate it throughout the album if you want. This is what I'm doing with it once in a while -- cut a short piece, fold it over the top edge, and staple:

Q: Any other ideas for how to include multiple pictures when you just can't choose one photo for a particular day?
A: A fellow blog reader (Amy Z I think?) shared a brilliant idea in the comments at some point. I'd love to share this with you, along with a visual to help you grasp the concept. (Thanks, Amy.) Just re-size a few pictures to fit the tri-fold journaling blocks that are in the kit. (For this example, my photo size is 2.25" W x 2.75" T.)

Q: What's your approach for journaling each day? (This great question really is more about the concept and doesn't have anything to do with the product.)
A: Sometimes I do a blow-by-blow for the day and make a list of the happenings. In this case, the picture for that day usually comes from one of the things I listed. Or sometimes I focus my journaling completely on the thoughts/feelings/details/information about just the picture I'm highlighting. I don't feel like I need to have the exact same approach to journaling every single day. I enjoy mixing it up a bit. Keeps it interesting.
PRODUCT TIP: In case you haven't already figured it out (I'm not sure if I mentioned this or not) ... those 4x6 transparencies that came in the kit ... they have a protective film on them. You should peel this off before using it as a photo overlay.

Added note: Same goes for the monthly bookmark-style dividers. Peel off the protective film!
MORE TIPS: If you haven't checked out the KOTM blog lately, the past few posts have been awesome tips. I just learned about a new gadget I'd never seen before!
RANDOM SHOUT-OUT: Just wanted to say a very special HELLO to Mary Kadry, who did something ultra kind for Alyson, who is now able to do Project 365 because of YOU. : )

Thanks for the tips! I especially like the extra photo idea... I've been thinkning about that!! Also, do you journal everyday or when you print your photos, and how often do you print your photos. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips. One thing I'm adding to my album is one of the ETC. memorabilia (sp?) pockets that I got from the School years add-on kit. For ex., I'm putting my Time magazine with all of the inauguration coverage in there. This way I have a place to store the bigger "extras" from my year.
Thanks for keeping up the great work Becky!
I have a suggestion for using multiple pictures for one slot. I had to take 6 pictures of my jewelry case in order to capture everything in each drawer. My boyfriend found a free photo editing software that allows you to incorporate 6 (or as many as you need) into a 4x6 photo size.
Also, I created a 365 blog just to keep my pictures and journaling organized and up to date.
Hope this helps someone...

Hi Becky! I know there's a lot to talk about with 365 and all that, but I'd love to see pics of the new baby, and if you have anything hanging from the eyelet screws in your kitchen right now, etc. :)
I just printed some of the downloads you gave everyone. LOVE THEM! Is there a way we can get the rest of the journaling blocks? :)
First of all, Becky - LOVE YOUR WORK!! You are an inspiration!
Second, forgive me taking advantage of your large group of readers, but I am hoping to see if there is anyone out there looking to find a home for an "extra" kit. I'm using the downloads (THANK YOU BECKY!!!) and still taking pictures, hoping to hear of a re-order. But, in case that doesn't happen (I know there's a lot involved with that process), I'm definitely interested in seeing if someone has an extra!
Thanks!

Thanks for the tips, Becky. Do you have any idea what the KOTM for February is going to be? Is there going to be a KOTM from now on? We haven't heard anything! Thanks.
I can't wait to get my album, so far I'm just posting my pictures on Facebook . . . thanks for all your tips :)

Love the extra vertical photo idea on the KOTM blog. It is great fofr any special occasion.
Thanks for great ideas,
Kathi
Is there any chance we'll be able to get some more JPGS from the kit since it will most likey not be reprinted? I'd be happy to pay for them. I'd just like to have some mor variety. Thanks!
Becky- I have been a fan since the very beginning. I love your work and you are an inspiration to me on a regular basis. I didn't get a kit but I'm taking the pictures and journaling, unsure about how I will put them together. Among my friends we are all crossing our fingers there will be a re-print of the kit. Many are willing to do it Apr-Apr, or May-May. I understand you're not in charge of ordering, but I thought you should know there are many out there who would still buy it. You're the BEST!!!
Becky,
Thanks for keeping these wonderful tips & ideas coming...absolutely LOVE the idea of putting the small photos on the folded journaling card...why didn't I think of that!
I am loving this kit, but more importantly, I am loving the concept...I really enjoy the challenge of taking a photo each day...& it really is capturing EVERYDAY life! I walked into the bathroom last night & guess what I saw...yep, the roll of toilet paper sitting on top of the empty roll...jeez...
If anyone is interested I am keeping my Project 365 updated on my blog with photos of my layouts too...nothing too fancy...really want to enjoy this process & KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!

Thanks, Stacy
great tips! thank you! I especially love the one about putting photos on the trifold journaling card - genius!
LOVE the tri-fold idea! I will definately try this one. Keep the ideas coming...like the one of a photo of the TV. My husband saw me doing that and said it would never work. Hmmmm, proved wrong once again.
thanks!
LOL at the protective film on the transparencies. I wasn't sure if those were meant to be peeled off, but all my life, I have loved peeling stuff like that off; gives me great pleasure! I used to peel the protective coverings off my Golden Books as a child. So, when I noticed it on those transparencies, I thought to myself that I didn't care if I shouldn't or not, I couldn't resist doing so anyhow. Glad to find out I was supposed to do so. haha Great kit, by the way. Oh, and if I have extra pics, I like to shrink them all down to fit on a 4X6 canvas in photoshop so that I can have a bunch of pics all in that once space. I did a series of pics of my daughter making pizza in her Easy Bake oven, and put them all together in a sequence this way. Fun!
Hi Becky - I love all the ideas you've posted. I do my journaling the same as you - some days I just write about the photo. Some days I write more about the whole day and other days I might just write one word to sum up my feelings of the photo or the day. There are no rules - and I love seeing how every one else approaches the same thing but in a different way.
cool, I am too excited that you mentioned me by name on your blog! LOL! what an honor!
I am so loving this project, it is just terrific! Thanks Becky!
Hey Becky-
I know I'm a little late on this but I noticed that some of your viewers have bought extra kits and have them sold them to other viewers. I am really interested in getting one..and I know you said they probably won't bring them back. So if you know of anybody that is willing to sell me one. That would be SO awesome.
Please contact me or have them contact me at lilmegancaroline@yahoo.com.
I love, love, love all you do and hope that you will do something like this again next year.
Thanks, Megan
Thanks so much for all of the wonderful ideas! I was not able to get a kit, but I have kept up with taking a photo a day. Loving the concept!
Like another reader posted, I know that there are some who ordered extra kits by mistake. I have one of the original no longer available Becky KOTM School Kits (the actual kit, not the add on) brand new still in the original box that I would be willing to trade for a 365 kit! If anyone is interested please contact me at cindi.fatzinger@gmail.com. Thanks!
I too have an original school kit that I would also be willing to trade for a 365 kit. What a great idea. If Cindi, who came up with the idea, trades hers, please contact me at christinewbold@hotmail.com. I know this may be a long shot, but at this point I've got to try :) Thanks!
Love that multiple photo idea on the tri-fold journaling card. WOW!
What if I wanted to share something with you Becky, how do I send it to you?
Thanks
Missy
Love the idea of the photos on the tri-fold cards! Brilliant! Also, I have to say Vivian over at customer service was so helpful and on the ball today answering my questions! Just wanted to give a shout out that I appreciated her quick response!
Hi Becky,
I love the idea! I was just wondering once you have done 2009 - how do you get more supplies to continue this from year to year? Will we need to buy enough kits for a few years or will this be available each year (possibly with new designs)? This sounds like a fantastic way to do the family alums.
Suzanne
Here's an idea.....
Sometimes I feel sorry for all of those past photos that I do not get to look at a lot...put them into 365
...15 years ago today I got married
....4 years ago today my grandpa
died
....3 yrs ago I had a baby girl
....1 yr ago today my oldest child graduated from kindergarten (or high school or sunday school)
....remember that huge snowstorm last January?...remember where we were?
...I went on an airplane for the first time 12 years ago today
I do not have a kit..well maybe we'll see, but a few things I have learned through Project365 are...
....how nice D-ring albums are
....how nice it is to remain current in my photo processing
....there are supplies out there for this project even if you didn't get this kit
...how I am learning more about my camera
Thanks...
Hi Becky - Love your blog, project 365 and you!
I'm taking the pictures and capturing those daily things I probably wouldn't have otherwise and think this will be great. I now just need to print and journal formally but I'm keeping an online log.
I found a side benefit of this. My boys (ages 5&3) who were sometimes reluctant to have their picture taken have started in the last week to ASK for their picture to be taken. Take a picture of me doing this Mom! I can be playing with a car or putting Mr. Potato Head pieces in an apple simple but important things to them. I love it. I hadn't told them what I was doing but they are noticing the camera out daily and the enthusiasm and ideas they have are infectious and building even better memories because they are contributing too.
Thanks for all of your inspiration. I am going to have so many great memories for all of us to cherish for years!

I just wanted to add my thoughts on the CS side Creating Keepsakes. I had a few problems ordering my 2 Baby kits back in October. Once I was put through to Vivian and then to Stephanie, they actually apologized for the mix up and threw in my 2nd Baby kit for free!!! Since when does that happen? Anyways just wanted to enlighten people out there that there is always something positive to ordering KOTM from CK. I too missed out on the P365 (I ended up buying off Ebay) and I'm consider myself lucky even though I paid through the roof.
Let's keep the positive vibes going, this will turn around.
Carolyn
thanks for posting the journaling cards, etc. from the 365 kit. so sweet of you! i certainly haven't taken a photo everyday, but i am sure i could scrounge up something to include for everyday. i am excited i can still participate in doing this w/o the full kit. Thanks for sharing this!
Hi -
Thanks for all the tips, especially the ribbon one - I want to incorporate it but couldn't think of a good way. I also want to mention that the film overlays are on the month dividers as well.
Have a great day!!
Jennifer
Becky,
Have you tried to print your inaugaration day photo at Costco yet? I tried but apparently they are refusing to print them because of a possible copyright problem. They are having to tell hundreds of people no, I'm sure because so many are using it for project 365!!
I'll just print it at home! But thought that was interesting!
I love the idea of this kit, but unfortunately don't have the kit. I have printed off the digital downloads from the website, but wish there was more variety. If anyone has a kit they would like to sell, please e-mail me at mrsd97@hotmail.com.
Thanks!
Hi, Just wondering if you think any more 365 kits will be available this year. I found your blog right before the new year. I did not get to order when they came out. I have been taking pics and reading about the alternative ways to still do the album. Thanks.
thank you for your kind comment, becky, it was my pleasure...
Oh Becky... you have NO idea how sad I am I too couldn't get this kit... but I am trying to figure something out on my own!! I am loving the tips...
your decor is always inspiring too!! Thanks!
see ya soon!!
Janice
I hope this is okay.....but I am a digital scrapbook designer and have created a DIGITAL 365 Kit that is based off of the design of Becky's kit. But all digital. I also have some add-ons to the kit as well and several templates. So hopefully you will all find it useful! I sell at 3Scrapateers, Digitals, Divine Digital and on my blog. I hope you will check it out! It's called Digital 365!
