on to the next chapter.
Today is my last day with Creating Keepsakes.
After 12 years with the company, I have chosen to resign as an employee of CK. I am doing this with nothing but the best feelings. It's just the right time for me to step down and move forward. I am so grateful for the ride that I've had and want to assure you that ride is not over. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not dying. I'm not quitting this hobby. I'm not running away. I'm totally here. (And so is CK. I wish them all the best!)
I'll never forget that day in 1996. I was a young, newlywed college student. As I was coming home between work and class, I picked up my mail. I started heading upstairs to our apartment as I sifted through the pile. And there it was. A little mailer piece that introduced an up & coming magazine called Creating Keepsakes. A magazine about scrapbooking. A whole magazine dedicated to scrapbooking!? This was my hobby.
A short time later, I happened to meet the magazine editor's mother in church one Sunday. Clarine Downs. Mother of Lisa Bearnson. The rest is history. My first article was published in the 4th issue of CK.

[ copyright Creating Keepsakes ]
My niche in scrapbooking (and what I was really known for in the beginning) was creative lettering. The next thing you know I'm writing a couple more articles, traveling to teach at a consumer show, making a television appearance and ultimately becoming an employee of CK. I was their first Creative Editor. And I really didn't know what I was doing. ; )
Fast-forward. I can't even count how many articles I've published (I have had something in every single issue). No idea how many consumer shows and trade shows I attended. Taught class after class after class. I did 9 books. Made some QVC and other TV appearances. Traveled to visit various scrapbook stores. Left the country a few times to spread the good word of scrapbooking. Created a handful of products. All the while, brought 3 beautiful little people into the world with my husband David.
So many good memories. So much that I learned. I feel like I grew up with CK as I was only 21 years old when they took me on-board. I don't even have the words to express gratitude to my dear friend Lisa Bearnson. And so many others at CK who became my friend. But it was Lisa who saw something in me in the first place and helped me to realize that my passion & my gift could reach so many. Giving me the opportunity to be involved at that level opened so many doors.
Who knew that I would get to share ideas on a global level? Who knew that I'd have friends from South Africa to Canada to New Zealand because of a hobby? Who knew that scrapbooking was going to actually explode into the industry that it became?
I feel so blessed to be a part of it all and look forward to continual sharing. It's what I love to do.
(Yes, I'm still blogging.)

Wow, congratulations!
Are you by any chance starting your own line of kits? With maybe a Project 365 being the first one?
Wow! Good luck, Becky. I know you'll be successful in your next endeavor. Honestly, your sketches were the only reason I've continued to subscribe to CK! (Simple Scrapbooks was my fave.)
Will certainly miss seeing your articles and sketches in CK. Best of luck in all you do!

Becky, thanks so much for what you have done with scrapbooking over the years. I too love your sketches in CK and it's the reason I get the mag. I'm wondering as well if you are working on creating your own line with P365 since you said you were trying to figure out if another one was possible. Of cousre I'll continue to check your blog and all that you share with us. You are an inspiration to us all. Thanks again for all that you do. :)

I'll miss you in CK and can't wait to see what your next thing will be.
I've really enjoyed all the YW stuff you shared and we did the life histories for an activity and they loved it. I was a scribe for one of the girl's because she had a broken arm and I loved getting to hear the stories she shared.
Congratulations! And enjoy the additional time with your precious family!!
Thanks for all the inspiration!
WOW - tough decision I am sure - but best wishes as you continue on your life (and scrapbooking journey) Keep us posted as to where you next steps take you. (You will be missed at CK - by not just the company but by all of the faithful readers)
You will be missed in the magazine but I will stil check the blog daily. Loved the skethces in every one too.
I have that issue that was your first!!! You have been in my life since then! I wish you well on your new endeavors and hope whatever you do you find as much happiness as you did with CK. I'll be looking for your next first out there.
*gina*
Best wishes Becky. Your work has been much appreciated here at my house. I love your classic design. Spending time being a mom is the best decision anyone can make.
I just started subbing to the magazine, I will DEFINITELY miss you in there, if only I would have been a little sooner.
Anyway, good luck in your adventures and can't wait to read more on your blog! Happy Creating!
I have truly LOVED & been so inspired by your work in CK; it was always one of the very first things I flipped to in the catalog. You will be missed greatly! But I know that even greater things are in store for you!! Thanks for keeping up the blog inspiration! :)
Thank you Becky, you are amazingly talented! You have shared so much with so many--including me! :) Love you! Amy Higgins
I agree with everyone else - you have truly inspired me in so many ways... thank you! You have such a beautiful family - enjoy your extra time with them! I'll continue to look forward to your blogs & recipes... a few of those recipes have now become favorites in our home :) Thank you!!
you will be missed! i love your style and inspiration. good luck with whatever you choose to do in the future.
Thank you Becky- you are inspiring in so many ways. You once helped me for my senior project back in high school 10 years ago, I always looked forward to your CK articles and now I'm a mom of two reading (and loving) your blog. I'm sure your life is crazy with three kids and a busy full time job- thank you for sharing it with us. I am glad you can enjoy more time with your family now. I wish you the very best!
Best wishes for your future endeavors, Becky. Thank you for all you have given to the scrapbooking world!
I am also a devoted fan since your Secrets Book. That was my BIBLE until the first sketches book then the second sketches and now the combo which I still use daily! Thank you so much for your tenure and your contribution to this important art/memory form.
Best wishes in this new chapter of life! I'll miss your contributions to CK.
CK won't be the same without you! i loved all your contributions over the years! (I feel like we could hang out since I've read all your stuff and learned all about your life and my kids are the same ages as yours and my hubby is a resident right now :) ) Glad to see you'll still be on the blog!! Thanks for sharing so much freely. It's sooo good of you :)
Wow! What an amazing journey! I will miss seeing your sketches ect. in CK! So glad I still have your blog to read! Good luck with the next chapter!
Good luck with your future, I had no idea that you were "retiring" from CK - I just had to add a comment to let you know that you have been my fave ... your sketches rock, I have your book of sketches and use it often in my scrapping. And then you put in that picture of the "Fill in Font" ... I can't even tell you how many times I used that ... anyhow, your imprint has been left in all of our scrapbooks - thanks and good luck and glad you will keep your blog going, I am certain you have more to share!
Becky,
We'll miss you very much. Is there still an e-mail address we can send you correspondence? Will you still alert us as to Kits of the Month?
This is a sad day.
Georgia
Becky - I will miss seeing you in the CK magazines! You were a BIG reason why I subscribed! I hope you will continue to use your amazing talent on some more kits and projects.
All the best!
Good luck Becky! (with whatever you decide to do...if anything besides being a SAHM and blogger)
You were definately the reason why I subscribed for all these years. Have a strange feeling the magazine has similar plans as yours. Hopefully, we will see your work in other areas soon!
Wow I don't even know what to say. I'm pretty sure I actually gasped out loud when I read the news. It's totally weird but I feel like I know you and yet I have never even met you. I have subscribed to CK since the very beginning and your style has always spoke to me. I don't even know how to scrapbook without your sketches!! You have such a beautiful family and whatever your next endeavor is, I hope you have a great time. Thanks for sharing your amazing talents with us and I look forward to seeing what is next. (Hopefully lots of Becky products for us to use ;)
I have that first creative lettering book! I have loved following you all these years, and am happy to have found your blog. I odn't scrapbook as much as I used to, but I still believe in it:)
I have to admit that I have mix emotions here. Happy for you of course. Being a mom of 2, I know how busy everyday life can be and adding work as a CK contributor is very hectic even on a part time basis. The other part of me is extremely sad because I LOVE YOU CK articles. You're also one of the reasons why I subscribe to CK. I also have almost all of you kits. Actually working on the school kit right now. ( Deep sigh)...I didn't even get a chance to attend one of your classes. On the other hand, I'm happy to know you're still blogging. And whatever you do, I just want to say that I will continously support your products or things you endorse. That's my way of saying THANK YOU for everything you share.
Good Luck!
wow - wasn't expecting this, but I'm so happy for you!! sounds like it's just time to take on something different - move on to other things - I wish you all the best!! but I'm SO still here keeping up with your great ideas :-)
Becky: I am so sad you won't be in CK anymore. I hate to say it because I've been with CK from the beginning too but these days, the only reason I read it is for your articles/sketches. My style is very clean and simple and I just can't relate to anyone elses like I can to yours. In fact, pretty much all pages I do now are based on your sketches. So thank you a million times for sharing your brilliant gifts with all of us. My hope is that you have something even bigger "up your sleeve" but I know that is sooo tough with 3 little ones. Whatever you choose to do know you have a huge following and we will always be here. Take care and God bless!
WOW! Congrats on your new chapter. I know you will be very successful in whatever you choose to do next. I do hope you will continue to share you scrapbooking with all of us. I feel so blessed that you have shared so much of yourself with all of us already. I am a complete fan of yours. I began scrapbooking back in 2001. I had just moved to Chicago, all by myself (from a small town.) I stumbled upon a scrapbook store. I had no idea that a store existed just for this! After talking to one of the workers, she handed me this purple magazine called Scrapbooking Secrets. She said that it was a “must-have.” So of course I took it home. Well once I walked through my door of my lonely little apartment, I curled up on my chase lounge (the only thing I had yet), and spent the entire night devouring it! I was so excited. You made me fall in-love with this hobby that I now consider the best thing that I have ever done. Eight years later, I am still going strong. My two little ones will always have a wonderful record of their young lives because you showed me how to make it simple yet so meaningful. And you gave me the creative release that I need as an engineer. Thank you.
Hi Becky! I hate to hear that you are leaving. I love your article every month and you are the reason that I receive the magazine! I will miss your articles and wish you luck in the future! I'm glad that you will continue to blog!
I had a feeling this was coming! First Lisa leaves QVC and now you are leaving CK. CK will not be the same without you!! I've admired your style - - it is the one that most closely matches my own. Clean and simple. Pictures and words.
I do wish you the best! Enjoy those 3 little ones - - time goes by way to fast! You will LOVE being able to devote your time and energy to your family!
God Bless!! Thanks for continuing your blog! I'd be lost without it!! My kid's favorite meal is your Garlic Chicken Farfelle!
Thanks again!!!
The only reason I still receive the CK mag was because of you! You leaving will be felt!
Thank you for all the sharing and wonderful ideas you have provided to so many throughout the years.
I wish you all the best and will continue to read your blog!!
Your's was the first scrapbooking magazines and books that I ever owned and I love your simple, yet beautiful creativity. Please keep taking pictures of your house and your decorating ideas too, I love them. You really are a person I hold in high esteem, not only for your creativity, but for your values placed on the family and home. I could always sense that from your layouts and designs. Good Luck and thanks!!
Oh, how I will miss your monthly sketches and variations!!! They are the reason I got CK in the first place! Your sketches were the thing in scrapbooking for me that made me go "AH-HA!" and really start to make layouts that I ADORED. CONGRATES on the "next thing" whatever form that takes!
I've never commented on your blog, but wanted to take a minute to thank you for all that you have given to the scrapbooking community. It was because of you that I subscribed to CK. It has been fun to follow you in your life's adventures. You just seem like the girl who is everyone's friend and that feeling will be missed in the magazine. Good luck to you in raising your family.
Becky,
You are amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I, too, always flip to your article first in CK's magazine & you will be sorely missed. Good luck with all your future endeavors!
Jennifer
PS. I met you at a RS class you taught in my ward (before you were famous). You taught a class about wedding albums & I told you that yours was the 1st wedding album I loved that wasn't cheesy. :) I loved your style from the very beginning. Thank you!
Becky,
I was saddended to read your newest post, but wish you the best of luck in your next endeavor.
The whole reason why I continued to subscribe to CK year after year was because of your contributions. Your sketches have saved my life, as far as scrapbooking goes. I want to thank you for sharing all your ideas. You are truly a gifted person.
Becky- I'll definitely miss your sketches, one of my favorite things in CK! Good luck to you in whatever you pursue next, I'll look forward to reading about it on the blog!
I am excited for you to be able to devote more time to your growing family, and wish you all the best!
Thank you for your inspiration, and influence on my life. You have a timeless style, and a darling personality. I will miss "seeing" you. :)
Becky - I just have to say thank you for all your contributions over the years. Your articles are always my favorite thing in the magazine - no one else seems to be able to capture that style of clean but not plain the way that you do. Your work has been such a inspiration to me and a blessing in helping my change my scrapbooking methods so I actually get things done. You will truly be missed but I am so happy for you and hope you'll be able to spend more time with your beautiful family. Thanks for continuing the blog - I think I would feel seriously deprived without some form of BH inspiration.
Wow. I've been scrapbooking for as long as you've been at CK, so from my standpoint your name has always been synonymous with CK. It goes without saying, you will be missed. Hmmm...how many sketches do you think you've created over all this time? Does anyone have a Becky Higgins sketch vault? :o) Best wishes to you Becky!!
You will really be missed Becky! Best of luck to you on your future endeavors.
Becky,
Wishing you nothing but the best...I'm sure this will be the beginning of bigger and better things...hopefully you'll continue to share your creatitivity and ideas, and maybe find someone to do kits for you...I love your kits!
Good Luck with your future endeavors - I'm sure 3 kids will keep you plenty busy along with whatever your future holds. Thanks for sharing your talents and ideas with us these many years. You truly will be missed and so will your articles in CK.
Best Wishes in all that you do!
Becky,
I have that first creative lettering book and the other magazines and books that follow! I have loved following you all these years, and feel that I have grown up with you (I started scrapbooking in 1998 right after I graduated from college). You are the reason I scrapbook the simple and organized style, and get my pages done. Thank you so much, and I wish you all the best.
Carm
Please tell me this is some bad dream! :o) You have been my favorite column in that magazine since back in the days of creative lettering. In fact, I have all of your creative lettering tearsheets in a binder in my scrapspace, along with your books and so many other sources of inspiration. You will sincerely be missed! I hope that you will still feel the urge to share a sketch or two on your blog (I love those sketches!), and that we'll still get to see plenty of your work on your blog. It won't be the same to have an issue of CK with no Becky Higgins. But I wish you the best of luck. I hope you're moving on to something that is inspiring to you personally--whether that's the life of a full-time mom or something else creative. Best of luck to you!
I am so excited for your future as I am sure it will only hold great things. I am, however, sad that you will no longer be contributing to the magazine and kit of the month (as I have actually only purchased your kits - love them) for CK. I look forward to what you will introduce to us on your blog!
Becky,
I am so sad that you will not be a part of CK anymore. Your sketches are the first thing I turn to in the magazine every month. What are we going to do without you!?! I wish you all the best.

Wow! I feel like the wind was just taken out of my sails! There's nobody like you Becky, and you will be deeply missed in CK. You truly are THE ONLY reason I subscribe to the magazine. Your style is timeless, and you have inspired me in SO many ways....you ARE scrapbooking to me! I only hope leaving CK means you have more creative tricks up your sleeve.
Thanks for all the inspiration, and best wishes for the future.
Michelle
Wow... best wishes with your future endeavours. I will miss looking for articles written by you. You are truly a talented and inspiring artist. Thanks for all that you have done!
So sad to hear about this news, but I understand having different "chapters in our lives". I recently had to resign from a dental hygiene program because I couldn't justify neglecting my children. A hard decision. I'm sure you will continue to have influence in different ways. I just recently got into CK, even though I'm a scrapbooker. And even more recently dumbed into your blog. I've taken the project 365 challenge and it's literally been life changing on so many levels. I can't thank you enough for the inspiration you are to me. Totally LOVE your CK Becky font. I use it all the time and it's my all time favorite. I just shared the link to all my blog readers yesterday. www.weloveiowa.blogspot.com. I wish you continued happiness and success with whatever path you choose.
Congrats on starting a new chapter on this journey we call life. Good luck and God Bless you on all that you set out to do.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:o)
Blessings to you and your family as you begin a new chapter in your life.
This is sad news but you have to pick your own priorities for yourself and your family. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
Best wishes to you, Becky! Thank you so much for all your time working for CK! You were the first scrapbooker I could identify with in regards to style. Seeing your pages finally made me feel it was okay to have simple, classic pages! THANK YOU!!!
Glad to see you will still be blogging! In addition to your posts I also enjoy your recipes...as does my family!
Amy
Becky, You will certainly be missed by many!! I feel like I have gotten to know you alittle thru CK. Watched your kids grow up. They are beautiful, by the way!! I will miss your sketches. Thank you for all of them!! I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!!
Please tell us that you will be back! Love CK; but more I love your articles, sketches and your clean style. I crave more every time I put the magazine down. I tell my husband constantly that YOU should have an all Becky Magazine. Can't wait to see what you bring us next. You are such a great inspiration. Good Luck with your new endevors and (more importantly) your family.
I will SERIOUSLY miss your "Sketches" every month and am SO glad I got to meet you at the Phoenix CK convention I attended last fall. What a blessing you have been to this hobby and what an inspiration you have been to me and to so many others.
I'm just glad you're still blogging - I can continue to scraplift ideas from you!!!
Becky,
Thank you for the many years of creative inspiration! I subscribed to CK because of you - when the new issue arrives, I cannot open my copy fast enough to your section...I will miss that. Checking your blog daily has become a joy of mind. Wondering what I may find, what kind of inspiration you'll provide to me that day or what yummy recipe I'll try on my family that week. You are a mom and are so openly real - just like us. You have had this amazing opportunity with CK, yet you have stayed so grounded and have so much graditude for life. Thank you for the continual inspiration as a mom and scrapbooker. Please do keep blogging as you've become such a wonderful part of my daily routine.
Sincerely,
Denise

As someone who changed from a full-time career to part-time work to be with her growing son, I understand the need for change. I wish you all the best (and am selfishly thankful that you will still be blogging!)

I am very sad for not seeing any more of your Sketches in CK, but am excited to hear about your next endeavor!
I have so enjoyed your articles and this blog during your time with Creating Keepsakes and will miss you! I saved all of your lettering articles in a binder! Who will make sure we get our new "Project 365" kits in January??? Good luck to you and your family in the future.

Remember when you were newly married and looking for a place to rent in Provo? You came to our little house where we were renters, also newlyweds looking for the next couple to call it home. You left your name and personal information which I passed on to the owners. I recommended you guys to the owners because your handriting was so perfect. It was such a reflection of your style and I knew you would take care of their house. The part of our conversation I remember was your excitement to find a rental with two bedrooms so that you could have a room for your "lettering." We were both working at Provo Craft at the time, you were teaching "lettering" classes. It was the beginning of a wonderful hobby, talent and career for you. You're an inspiration for good to so many! Who knew doodling, glueing and cutting could bring such joy! Good luck to you as you move to the next adventure!

So sorry to hear that you are leaving CK. You are the reason I subscribe. You will be truly missed!! Please continue to share your albums and pages with us. Best of luck to you, Becky.

Oh Becky..... We all just love you. Im so greatful that you are Becky.... thanks for all the help with Christmas card and so on... Cant wait for the next chapter.
Becky,
I have so many great memories of working with you all those years ago at CK. Thanks for all you taught me and for being such a great inspiration for so many years. Great big hugs to you!
I knew you were something special from that very first article you wrote. I've been a faithful CK subscriber from day one. I made my husband a tribute album like you made for your husband 11 years ago and I still think it's one of my favorite albums that I've made. Good luck to you Becky and all of your future dreams and aspirations!
I am sad to hear this... yet excited to see the next chapter!! I am sure you feel the same way, LOL! I have SO enjoyed your articles, products, blog, etc. through the years and hopefully there is more in store through another avenue. :) Best of luck to you Becky!
Hope this means more time for BLOGGING which I love the most of what you do.
Thank you thank you thank you! You have been a major inspiration. I will miss your article in CK, it just won't be the same. :( Your book Scrapbooking Secrets was the first scrapbooking book I ever bought.
So glad you will still be blogging with continued inspiration.
Best wishes!

You have been a inspiration to scrapbookers everywhere. I will miss your Sketch column in CK...it was my favorite.
Best Wishes with whatever you will do in the future.

I feel like crying. First Simple Scrapbooks stopped publication. Then Lisa left QVC. And now you. Sigh. Best of luck, Becky, and I hope you keep your blog going and we will still have you as our inspiration with whatever you decide to do next. This news and a picture of your blog on my computer screen will definitely be in my Project 365 for today. It's that important to me.
Love you, Becky. But I do NOT love CK who, in my opinion, has deteriorated in the past few years and left many of us hanging.
So glad to see you are moving on. Looking forward to seeing what you will be up to next!
Wow - you certainly will be missed, in part, you WERE CK to many of us. I remember that first article and every other one after that. Good luck with whatever you do next. I am so glad for your blog so we can continue to get your good ideas. ~TanyaS
I will miss you lots, but I'm sure your decision was a tough one to make, and one that you weighed very heavily. I want to thank you as it was your columns and sketches and LOs that inspired me to a higher level of scrapbooking. I took your class at CKU in Nashville a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish you the best of luck.
God Bless You and Your Family,
So sad - I get CK just for your articles. I will miss them.
Life continues to surprise me when it gives the gift of coincidence and serendipity! Just today I was thinking about you… for whatever random reason…. not knowing that later I would open up your blog – which I have never done before! Not knowing that I would read that this is your last day! And I reflected back on my scrapbooking career - which started 8 years ago and the first magazine I bought was a Creating Keepsakes - Becky Higgins Sketches. Since then my love affair began…. And your layout ideas are reflected in some manner in almost all of my scrapbooks. Thank you, Becky. Your talent and your ideas will live on in ways that you cannot even count! Abundant Blessings to you!
Becky-Your presence in CK will be missed more than you will ever know. Like many others, your article is one of the things I love about CK. It is always the first thing I turn to when I get the magazine. I am glad to know that you will continue blogging (your blog is my homepage!)and I hope that you will continue wonderful kits in some way or another. Your kits are my absolute favorite and I hope you will develop more. Good luck with whatever comes next and keep us all posted!
Congratulations on the next stage of your life, whatever that may be. I am a recent devotee to your blog and have gone back and read all of the archives. I love your videos and the pictures and descriptions of the everyday stuff around your home. You truly seem so down-to-earth, warm and friendly. Please keep on blogging and keeping us up-to-date on your adorable family. Carol S.
You will be truly missed. I read the magazine because of you. You are such a gifted and fun lady to read. I pray you have the time to keep in touch with us on your blog. Good luck in your ventures!!!
Hi Becky! I can't say I'm super surprised because so many changes have been taking place in my beloved industry recently. You and Cathy Zielske are the two people who literally changed this hobby for me forever. I always look at your column first in the mag because it and Ali's column are simply the best part of the mag. I'm betting CK really feels the blow of you leaving but I understand that life changes. I truly hope I will continue to be able to see your work on a regular basis. I read your blog always and look forward to seeing anything about organization or any new pages you've done. I feel like I know you well since you've been in my life so long! I took a class once from you at CKU in Nashville - for that I am grateful. God bless you! I'll be checking back here soon to see what you're up to.
I have a request......could you name your 9 books? I thought I had all of them but I don't think I have that many! Thanks!
Your presence at CK will be missed!!!! YOU are one of the biggest reasons I bought the magazine!! Your article is the first one I always read!!! Now I will have to become your blog stalker... ;) What will you do next??? I'm going to miss your articles and layouts soooo much... you really have no idea!!!
I hate to hear that you are leaving. I love your article every month and you are the reason that I receive the magazine. Well It is always nice to start a new chapter in life. Will you still do page ideas and more products. I will miss seeing your articles in the magazine.
I'm soooooooo sad!
Thanks for being a part of my life.
Best of luck, will continue to read your blog. Love your work and hope to still see some in future
Becky, I wish you all the best in your new chapter! You'll be great at whatever you do!! I have to admit that whenever I get my issue of CK I always flip to your column first!! It has always been my favourite! I LOVE your style!! And your Family History book is my all time favourite!! I wish you all the best and will continue to follow you on your blog!! You're the best!
I'm with so many of the posters as your column in Creating Keepsakes is my favorite! I started scrapbooking back in 2002 and your sketches magazine was what got me hooked!! I had never seen scrapbooking done so well and so creatively. It fit for me and I was excited. Thank you for all your inspiration in that magazine over the years! I will be visiting your blog like always though to check in and see what you're up to!! :0)
Oh my gosh, Becky, I will miss you! Your sketch is my favorite part of the magazine! I wish you the best of luck in the future and have to say, the magazine won't be the same without you.
Best of luck to you! I hope you still stay in the business in some way.
You will be missed so very much. You have been my scrapbooking inspiration with your sketches and I have always loved your layouts. Project 365 has been my main goal this year. I did it digitally and my Jan-June book won Best of Show at our fair. I feel like I'm losing a really good friend. I hope you continue to share your creative talents with us in someway. Good luck with the future!
Best wishes to you... and I must say I am so relieved you are going to continue to blog!!!
You will be missed, I am certain! I have loved every one of your articles and own almost every book that you've written. CK has been blessed to have you.
I hope you will continue to share your love of scrapbooking with us in some way, even just through this blog!
i will miss you in CK! i remember meeting you when you were pregnant with Porter at the 2002 CKU in Provo. What a treat! i was with a "dorm" from Monticello, UT, and we were just thrilled you were expecting! Best wishes to you and i hope to continue to see your work.
Most sincerely,
amy
Becky, like so many others, the only reason I subscribed to CK was for your sketches. I also enjoy Jessica Sprague and because of her I went digital. I HOPE you go digi too! To have all your sketches in templates would be a dream!
Anyways congrats on your "retirement" and look forward to your next adventure.
Becky-
I second everything said!! I LOVE your style and sketches and use them all the time!! I also turn to your section first in CK to see what you have come up with. Congratulations on a new chapter in your life. I want to thank you for sharing your life with us and being so generous with your time and talent. Please know that you have really helped shape the whole industry of scrapbooking and have helped so many of us document our families....okay i think you get it :-)
kari
fargo, nd
I can't imagine how you have been able to work and meet deadlines with 3 small children. I wish you luck as you face the future. Best of everything and God Speed.
Like Dorothy said to the scarecrow, "I think I will miss you most of all."
Best wishes to you, Becky! I'm sure it was a difficult decision to leave CK, but I hope you will be blessed in your next steps in life's journey! Thanks for sharing your gifts with so many of us for so long!
Best wishes, Becky. I'll miss your contributions to CK but am glad you'll still be blogging and sharing your gifts & talents.
We'll miss your contributions in the magazine, but best of everything to you and your famliy. Enjoy it all, and please...keep blogging! I need it!!
Becky,
I will be so sad not to see your contributions regularly in CK but I understand a need to move forward to something else. I so look forward to seeing where life takes you next. I loved meeting you at CKU Stamford in 2005 and hope our paths can cross sometime in the future. Good luck and I will keep checking back on your blog to see where life is taking you!
Wow, you will truly be missed. I have every single book you wrote you were such inspiration to us all. I have loved all the kits that you have created and bought them all. I wish you all the best in whatever you choose to do next. I hope you will continue sharing your inspirations.
Good luck! CK mag will never be the same without you.
I have loved your work right from day one Becky! You have been an inspiration to me in so many ways and I am so glad that I was able to meet you in person and become friends. Thanks for all that you've given to CK, and to us, over the years! Best of luck to you in your future endeavors!
Cindy
I hope you will continue sharing your AMAZING ideas. Project 365 was so great! Will you do anything like that in the future? What is your new plan?
Thank you Thank you Thank you.
Becky you are an amazing woman. You have enriched so many of our lives. You are a inspiration. I can't wait to see where the next road takes you.
I have kept every single article you wrote. I love your books. They are priceless.
Thank you.
Oh, I hope this isn't the very last we see of you in the CK world! I'm seriously sad thinking I won't see your articles and sketches anymore - like many others, it was my 'must read' and usually the first thing I turned to.
I hope you enjoy the new adventures that come your way - even if those adventures just involve more time with your adorable family!
Becky Thank you for all you have given to your faithful readers. I am so grateful your blog will continue. I wish you the very best in whatever you will be doing in this next chapter as you move on. Are you coming out with your own line of supplies or kits? I will support you if you do. I absolutely love your kits. I will miss your Christmas Card Kit this year. Take Care and May God be with you and your family as you move forward with this next chapter of life. Hugs, Tracie
Congratulations on your next step...hopefully taking some well deserved time with your family in between! I'm like so many others and am going to miss seeing your sketches and contributions to the CK mag...but I'm really excited to see what you have next. You are by far one of my favorite designers for scrapbooking. Keep thinking of us "fans" on your blog :) Best wishes and continued sucess to you!
Brittany
Becky, you will be sorely missed by your readers, fans, and I'm sure your former colleagues as well. But as a career coach, I know, there comes a time when you have to move on.
Wishing you personal growth and happiness in your new choices, whatever they may be.
Everyone's life changes through the years. Love your work and what you've shared with everyone all of this time.
Can't wait to see what your next endeavor will be.
Becky, I have admired you and your work for soooo long. It's sad to know you won't be a part of CK, but I totally understand the need to move on. I wish you the best in whatever you decide to do next. (Maybe one day you'll surprise us with another book? I'll buy it!)
Good luck with your new path, Becky. TBH, you are the only reason that I still buy CK--I am a sketch-type scrapper and love the sketch columns. So wherever you go, I'll be sure to follow!
Wow! I'm shocked to hear this! You were one of the reasons I still checked out the magazine once in a while. Losing you is HUGE! I'm sorry to say, but CK will suffer without you!
Good luck to you and all of your future endeavors!
Good luck Becky in this next new chapter in your life. Change is hard but is great. Enjoy your family but PLEASE don't disappear, you're a great inspiration to all of us!!
Carolyn
Wishing you all the best in your new venture and so happy to hear you will still be blogging.
I still have a very early copy of Creating Keepsakes and your early contribution in it.
I will miss reading your articles in that great magazine.
Sending you good vibes.
becky, i've always admired your grace and class in this business. it's because of your article on how your style had changed over the years that i got back into scrapbooking. you'll always have a special place in my heart. i wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. i hope you have a little more time now for the best job ever–mom :) thank you.
the magazine won't the be same without you.
best of a new journey to you!
thanks for all you brought to us these past many years!
God Bless.
Your articles will be missed! They are the first thing I flip to when I get a new CK magazine. Happy you are still blogging and I wish you the best.
Thanks!!!!
I want to thank you for sharing so much of your talent and personal perspective over the years.
You are probably the first inspiration I had to jump into this craft. You have made my world a better place for it.
I know whatever you do and wherever you are headed you will do it well and bring joy to those around you!!!
"The best is yet to come"
CK will not be the same without you.
I wish great things for you and your family.
I love your blog (my favorite) and am glad that you are going to keep blogging!!!
Best Wishes :)
Thanks so much for the inspiration your provided to so many. Your column was always the first one I looked at in each issue. I do hope that you'll still show up in the magazine from time to time as a special guest.
So sad Becky - I loved your contributions to the magazine. You will be missed. But yes - great for your family.
Any thoughts of Big Picture Scrapbooking or the new Ella Publishing? I know I for sure would love to continue to see your work and have the chance to take a class from you! And as someone else mentioned - your sketches in digital form would be incredible! All the best to you and yours. I look forward to seeing what you will be up to next. Keep on blogging!
Sad to be losing you! I've always looked forward to your articles and ideas. You've put in a lot of work so you should feel proud and I'm sure you deserve a break. Raising a family takes a lot of time and your little kiddies need you 24/7! :) Best of luck to you in this new chapter of your life.
Dear Becky,
Good luck in your new adventures in life. You will be missed. You were one of the reasons I followed CK. I really love your style. I am glad to hear you will be blogging still. Take care and enjoy life with your hubby and kiddos!!!
Tina
Best of luck to you Becky! Your articles are the first I flip to and the magazine won't be the same without you. Your talent is amazing and I can't thank you enough for the inspiration you've given me and so many others who share this hobby. I absolutely love your blog and am tickled you will still be blogging. Enjoy this new chapter of your life!!!
You were the best thing about CK! I use the 2 sketches and the purple book every time I scrapbook! I noticed you out of everyone else in the very first magazine I got, which was October 2000, I believe. I think I even told you at CKU-A Chicago in 2006 that the Yahtzee layout was one of my favorites! You have influenced my scrapbooking in so many ways and CK owes so much of what it became to you. I'm glad you'll still be blogging!
First things first, good luck. However, the world of scrapping is changing so much! Scary and thrilling ... but I am sad to see you go. I loved your story of how you got to where you are today. It seems like so many of you working in the upper levels of scrapbooking got there by chance meetings (not to say you didn't have the talent! That is obvious!) Gives me hope to one day break in and 'do some damge', lol. Of course I am a bit older than you were starting out ... sigh. Good luck to you!
PLEASE tell us that your next chapter is doing kits, and that you'll be doing another P365 kit on your own!!! I've been hoping and waiting for another one since I missed out this past year.
Good luck with whatever you do!
I will miss your articles. You have been an inspiration to me for years. Best of luck to you and your sweet family.
I feel like I have taken the ride with you! I started "scrapping" my senior year of high school ('94) and came across the magazine in much the same way. You have been one of my FAVORITE trailblazers (along with Stacy Julian, Rebecca Sower (remember her?LOVED her) and of course Lisa B.)! I have huge stacks of magazines with ear turned pages and two gigantic binders filled with clipped articles (from the mags I finally parted with). I also have most of your books and refer to them quite a bit. They are timeless.
Anyway, I am sure you get plenty of LOVE comments but just had to shout out! So bugged you are not going to be a part of CK anymore but I totally get it. I am a mom of three as well!
Good luck! Glad you'll still be on the blogosphere!
Oh no!!! What will I do without your creative sketches and seemingly effortless scrapbooking inspiration?! I will miss you SO much as a contributing editor to CK; it's the article I most look forward to, but I wish you all the best in your next endeavor. God Bless you! Lori
Becky,
I have always LOVED your articles, videos, blog, etc.I hate to see you go but glad you will still blog. I check it daily. I have most of your books, kits and Christmas cards. I totally understand how hard it must be trying to juggle all that you have to do. Being a mother/wife is first. Hold tight to your babies for they will be grown before you know it.
I am hopeful we will see a new "Becky Higgins"product line and who knows your own magazine!!!!! Best Wishes in all you have planned.
Sally H.
I will miss your articles in CK magazine. I always looked forward to seeing your sketches! Best of luck with everything you do.
I will miss you articles and sketches in CK. Congratulations and good luck in whatever you decide to do.
Sad to see you go from the mag. When I think of Ck, I think of Lisa, you & Ali Edwards. It will be strange without you. Will look forward to what you come up with in the future!
Best wishes on the next chapter! I will miss reading your articles and being inspired by your layouts. Can't wait to hear what is next for you.
Good luck!
you will be missed.
LOVE your kits! You should have your own product line :)
Good for you! I'm sure the next chapter will be as exciting. Can't wait and best of luck.
I'm so sorry to see you leave CK because I love reading your articles each month, but I know that you'll be something else that will touch so many other people (hopefully, it's still in the scrapbooking industry!). Good luck!!
You are the only reason I have a subscription. Your Becky's Sketch and varying articles are what I look forward to. I'll not be renewing when my subscription runs out. I wish you all the best, and am glad to see you'll still be blogging! I check your site a few times a week.
Thanks for everything you've done to help scrapbookers everywhere!
~ Astrid
You will be greatly missed and I wish you all the luck in the world as you move on to whatever you'll be doing (or not doing;). Glad to see you'll still be blogging!
Oh what a sad day when you leave CK, you will be greatly missed in the magazine by all of your readers!! You have inspired myself and many, many more I am sure! Love your sketches (pretty sure I have them all! :o) Have loved buying your kits either on QVC in the past or the KOTM, hopefully you will have a resource to create and sell more in the future. At least we still have your blog, a favorite I like to check in on daily!
Please continue to inspire us and just enjoy your babies! They (yours, mine & every other mothers on here) are growing up on us all too quickly!
As a high school student, I spent hours and hours practicing the creative letters in your first book. Since then, your articles in CK were my favorite, and I always saved them before throwing away my old issues. Good memories!
Thanks, and Good Luck!
Hi Mrs. Higgins,
I'm 15 years old and I've been reading your blog for a while. I am sad you are leaving CK, you are my favorite editor, but I know that the Lord has GREAT plans for you! May He bless you, Mr. Higgins, Porter, Claire, and Crew in the coming years!
Ellie
I've been a fan of yours since the beginning and I'm sad to see you leaving CK! Thank you for sharing your ideas and so much of your life with us. I'll miss seeing your work. Good luck on your future adventures with your beautiful family.
:)Miranda
Your column in CK was the reason I look forward to the magazine each and every month. I hope that your new path in life brings you much happiness and joy. Thanks for sharing your style, creativity and life with us.
I tore out that fill in font article and kept in a binder - funny as I never knew you were the author of it.
Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors.
Thanks for providing so much inspiration.
I will miss CK magazine. I won't subscribe as I'll miss your monthly articles. Good luck. Colleen
Congrats Becky- I know this is not the normal thing you hear in a situation like this but I have to congratulate you on your wonderful years of success, and the wonderful opportunities that lay a head. I’m not sure if you are planning to do more business stuff of your own or just enjoy more time with your beautiful family but either way it will be challenging and wonderful so good luck to you in all you do!
I know you must get millions of people telling you all sorts of stories, of how you inspired them, and how much they love your work, and my story is no different. And I will thank you now for taking the time to read my story to you. I have been scrapbooking since I was 15. When I got married and moved to Provo in 2001 so my husband could go to school I started working for Provo Crafts that is when I found out about CK and have loved it, your article and style have always been my favorite. I’m a traditional scrapbooker, and have had a hard time with everything going digital, in fact the only reason I still read CK is because of your sketches articles. I love them! I ALWAYS start with a sketch! I love your simple yet so beautiful style.
I have many of your books, and I have loved getting to know your family through your beautiful art. Thanks for letting us into your life, as I’m sure it is hard to meet the demands on you between, work, family, fans and even some time for yourself. Over the 8 years I have fallowed your work, you have inspired me in so many ways thank you for sharing your talents! I have a blog where I keep the recipes that I love, and the scrap pages and other projects that I do (well a few I have many I have not posted yet) and if you care to please take a look, as I’m sure you will recognize many or yours within them. Thanks again for taking the time to read my thoughts. Thanks again JoAnn Toronto- now living in Ohio http://joanntoronto.blogspot.com/search/label/Art%20Work
Becky
I love your layouts/sketches! CK won't be the same without you!
- Lisa
You totally need to do something with all these stories everyone are telling you! What great memories!
Becky I wish you and you family all the best as you move forward in your life. I can't even begin to thank you for the wonderful concept of the Project 365. If it weren't for you I would have never done this (still doing it Day 259 today). I've made some great friends thru this project. Thank you so much. Please keep us informed as to what you end up doing. CK will not be the same without you.
we will all miss your smiling face in each issue of CK!!! Good luck to you in the future! I'm glad you will still be bloggin, I love to see all the fun ideas you have.
wow, sorry to see you leave CK. but I know you have something up your sleeve.
I hope you get a chance to enjoy being a SAHM. it is the hardest and best job EVER!!!
Good Luck and God Bless You and Yours, Sandi in Phx.
All the best to you and yours Becky... you have been a wonderful inspiration in the scrapbooking world. I remember the first issue of CK I got had you and your new baby Porter on it. I picked it up because at the time I was 8 months pregnant and couldn't wait for my little one to make an arrival so I could start scrapbooking. Thanks for all your creativity!
Becky,
Good luck and the best wishes in your "new path"!!!!
I hope you create a new project 365 for next year!!!
Thanks for all your ideas, books,... I really LOVE your work.
Thanks again!!!
Karina
Glad to hear you're still gonna blog!
Thanks for sharing your creative talents with us for so many years and for sharing so much of yourself in the process. You will be missed at CK for sure.
I am SO glad that Lisa found you all those years ago. You are great and I can't wait to see what is in store for you next!
Sorry to see you leave CK, but glad you've had such a fun ride! Good luck with your future plans and thanks for sharing your talent!
I wish you the best. We will TRULY miss you, you are the main reason i subscribe to CK. Glad you will still blog so maybe you can continue to share your talent from your blog. Your family is precious, fun watching them grow through your pages. Thanks for the last many years.
I'm so sad you're leaving, but I know it's best for you! You were such an integral part of the magazine and your absence will leave huge shoes to fill. Thank you for sharing your family with us for the past 12 years :)
Love,
Heather
becky i'm so sad. you will be missed! you are the reason i subscribe to the magazine. thank you for encouraging and inspiring so many of us! blessings on the next chapter! -taya
I've loved seeing your sketches and the other amazing work in CK. I will miss reading your columns.
Best wishes!
I am hoping your products may continue somewhere else!?! I LOVE the baby kit and have been looking forward to a Christmas card kit as I LOVED last year's!! Best Wishes in whatever God has in store next!
180 comments at this point... I have read quite a few and there isn't anything I'm going to say that is different... But I can't let the opportunity go by without telling you that you are so incredibly inspiring to me. I feel like you are an old dear friend as well. I subscribe to CK mainly for you and Ali Edwards' truly amazing contributions and inspiration, though I probably relate more closely to you in style. Your sketches have become the way I scrapbook. I will miss you so very much.
But I am not surprised because the time to move on comes for all of us at one point or another. I will anxiously be waiting to hear what you will be up to next. I am so proud of you and wish you nothing but the best. God bless you and your beautiful family always.
You will be so missed - you are one of the main reasons I read creating keepsakes. When I get the magazine in the mail, I flip to your article(s) and read that first :o) Thank you for all your ideas and sharing your talent! I will still be checking in with your blog!
Hi, am kinda new here.. I'm from Manila, Philippines and have been subscribing to CReating Keepsakes for 2 years now. I felt sad knowing that will no longer see your article in the mag every month. But, I know there will something better in store for you.. Best of luck...
I am new to blogs and therefore may be doing it wrong :) I just wanted to wish you the best of luck. I honestly learned to scrapbook watching you and reading the mag. I love all the designers at ck but your work has always inspired me. I love your style. I was once asked who my favorite scrapbooker was and I said, Becky Higgins, hands down. You are my muse. I will learn to blog and try and keep up with what you are curently working on. Please keep writing books. I love your sketches and would love to keep seeing your work. Thanks for inspiring me so. Good luck!
Just wanted add that you are my favorite scrapbooker. I love your sketches and your simple style. Whenever I get my CK magazine, the very first thing I do is flip to your column. I would buy any kit you designed (and have bought them all even though I don't even send out Christmas cards) and any book you write. Seriously, I'll preorder your next kit/book right now. Just tell me where to send the money. :-)
I have always appreciated your reason for scrapbooking (saving memories for your family)...but I also love your style too! Thanks for always being so genuine. Good luck in the future, hope you still are in the scrapbooking world!
Good luck and if you are retiring for awhile, enjoy every moment with your family. I'll miss the sketches every month! I use them all the time!
Carol
i am so sad to see you go, but so happy for you and your family! you have been inspiring me for all 12 years!!! but as long as you keep blogging...:) good luck to you!
:) melissa
Boo hoo...boo hoo...boo hoo!
I'm such a groupee. I've met you, gotten your autograph and a photo, and was lucky enough to take a class WAY back in the early days. You're such an integral part of that magazine, how will they fill the hole left behind? Seriously, is the magazine in trouble, shutting down, getting sold, etc? It is not the magazine it used to be and nearly 1/2 the size.
I wish you all of the best in your new journey. You have been an inspiration to me. I will miss seeing you in CK but look forward to seeing what you do next.
Best of luck in whatever you decide to do next. You are so talented and creative, and such an inspiration for so many women. Thank you for all you have done for the scrapbooking industry. Although it's a sad day, it's still pretty awesome that we get to connect with you on your blog!
This post has been removed by the author.
Best wishes Becky. I will miss your columns but luckily I have them all torn out for future reference. I, like many, love all that you do. Keep up the creativity and hopefully we will see a P365 kit -and more???- out of you. You know the line will be miles long for anything you offer.
Kudos to you, as always.
I'm sorry to see you leave. I have loved every one of your articles and books. Best of luck in whatever you pursue.
Oh my goodness! Your article has been my favorite for years. I dearly love my sketches book and all the kits! Good luck with whatever you choose to pursue in the future!
Best of luck Becky in all you do in the future. I will sincerely miss seeing you inside my CK magazine. It was always (ALWAYS) the first place I went when I got my magazines. I am so sad to see this announcement but sure you made the right decision.
Wow. Thank you so much for all you have contributed these past 12 years. I've been a CK reader since the very first issue, and you were the #1 reason I made sure I never missed one. I wish you and your family all the best, and commend you for putting them first. I hope you'll continue to share what you love when you can. If you do stay active in the industry, I hope that you'll go in a direction that brings you happiness and satisfaction, without all the stress. All the best-
I will truly miss your creative sketches column. I think I have all of them in a binder. I wish you nothing but the best of luck in the new chapter in this book called LIFE. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
YOU are the reason I started scrapbooking! I fell in love with your style and fonts and sketches! Best wishes on your new endeavors! I KNOW you will do just fine without CK!
Becky - I will certainly miss you in the CK magazine. I also have been following along with your blog and really, your life as I have seen so many of your layouts in the magazine over the years. I so love your kits and have many of them. Just love your creativity! Good luck Becky and looking forward to what you do next. I will continue to follow your blog!
