Q&A: Friday
Q: After reading 212 questions, are you wondering what in the world you were thinking when you created this post? : )
A: If you've been visiting my blog for a while, you know that I invite your questions from time to time. I know you have questions. I'm happy to answer them. Obviously I can't get to all of them, but I'm doing my best to get to lots of random topics. I think you guys are pretty super and I'm happy to share. That's what my blog is for.
--
Q: Do you have any Halloween decorating ideas?
A: Autumn is my favorite season but this year I'm not as seasonally decorative as I'd like to be. We have so many other projects going on. But ... I did put a cluster of pumpkins (collected over a few years) in the center of our kitchen table. That's our reminder of the season ... even though we're still pushing 90 degrees right now. : (

--
Q: How do you organize your laundry? (I know that's random, but there has to be a better system than I'm using!)
A: Our laundry baskets are in our master bedroom closet. It's very simple. Plastic baskets are from Target. We like sturdy. Not bags. One for whites, one for colors, one for towels. The reason we wash towels separately is that we don't use liquid fabric softener with our towels like we do with our clothes. Why? Because it can cause the towels to be less absorbent. How do we keep those towels soft? Fabric softener dryer sheets. I don't do laundry on a certain day or schedule it or anything. I know that works for some people. I do it on an as-needed basis. Incidentally, right now I have piles and piles of clean laundry that I need to put away.

Q: I am desperate for the file for the Adult life story pages. I need them for an activity for this Friday 10/23 and the link is not working anymore.
A: Here you go! Good luck with your activity. And I'm attaching the teen version again too, since some of you were asking for that.

Q: What CK issue will be your last that I can expect to see your work?
A: The December 2009 issue of Creating Keepsakes will have my last article in it. I believe that issue is now available, or will be very soon.
--
Q: Can I just guess that you are going to be asked the status of the 365 kit about a billion times? lol But seriously, my question is "do you know what's next for you in the scrapbooking industry?" You have such great ideas, I hope we can continue to see them!
A: Yes, you can guess that. While I didn't get a billion of those questions, it was absolutely the most popular question. No, I am not "bringing back" Project 365.
I have been working on a product that is better and more flexible. This kit is perfect for those who want to (and are able to) keep up with taking a picture a day. AND ... it will be a kit that also works for those of you (and those you know) that would prefer a slower pace. It's better. It reaches a broader audience. It's going to be the perfect gift for someone you know. And it's so stinking fun. More on this very soon, as we're trying to make it available before the holidays.
So that's what's next for me in this industry. I'm not looking to work full-time. I'm just really passionate about creating solutions for people that want to scrapbook without all the time & money that scrapbooking sometimes entails. So that's where I am. Just have a couple things up my sleeve.
--
Q: Are you going to do another Christmas card kit?
A: This is something else that I will address in more detail soon, but I wanted to at least let you know that I've been working on a solution for your holiday cards that I think will make a lot of you really, really happy. ; )
--
Stay tuned. There is obviously so much more to come around here.

About your project that is better and more flexible, will it be available to those who posted a number in your comments first? I am so excited I cant wait to see what it is and I don't want to be let down like last time with the ordering issues. I have made my own kit and have kept up but yours is much cuter and easier I,m sure!
HOW DO YOU DO IT?!?! I am convinced that you have every SINGLE one of your blog readers absolutely on the edge of their seats!! I read this post and thought "She has done it again!" You are amazing Becky! I love that you love this hobby (and so much else in life) and that radiates to all of us who "stay tuned" to your blog. THANKS for being so inspiring and for sharing so many fun things with us! Can't wait to see what is to come! :)
You've inspired me with your laundry baskets. It makes so much sense to have separate baskets for whites/colors and to only have baskets in the master closet. I'm going to try this system!
Hi Becky - you never cease to amaze me!! Do you think you could post a video of your ideas to come! I am always so inspired when I "see you in action." Would you ever consider bringing back your 12 days of Christmas? You really don't have to give out prizes, we just love your great ideas!!
I am so looking forward to your Christmas cards solutions and ideas! Can't wait....Thanks for sharing your everyday life.
I'm so excited to see what you have up your sleeve!!! You're so inspiring to many of us!
Carolyn
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions!! I'm also VERY curious to see what your other projects entail!! Looking forward to see what comes next... :)
ok. you completely have my attention... like you ever lost it ;) I CANNOT wait to hear more about your projects!!!
I'm so excited to hear about the projects! Can't wait to see them!
I'm so happy to hear you have another 365 kit & holiday cards! I've had the best time tracking something everyday this year. And I've always done your Christmas cards, so now I have 2 things to look forward to getting! Thank you so much!
Hello! I am doing Project 365 on my own. I wasn't able to get a kit at the beginning of the year :( But I have LOVED your freebees that you posted on your blog and have used them tons. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to pring them lately. I get a message that it is forbidden on my server. Please help! Thank you--
Jodie Reiminik
You continue to inspire me. Can you take pictures of every room in your house and tell us how you organize everything? hahaha! just kidding!
I love the scrapbooking stuff because I've been a scrapbooker for 13 years. But for some reason, whenever you highlight and picture how you've organized something in your home (laundry, recipes, supplies), I'm ALL OVER IT! Thank you so much for sharing!
I don't use liquid softener on my towels, either (same reason). Instead of dryer sheets, I actually put a bit of distilled white vinegar right in the wash with the detergent (about 1/2 - 1 cup, depending on the load size). It works! Keeps our towels soft AND I think they come out fresher and cleaner than detergent alone. They're khaki, so I can't use bleach on them! I do the same thing to our sheets. And no, you can't smell the vinegar on the items when they come out of the wash.
all I can say is.....
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!
Yeah! I can't wait. I kind of hope it's digital. Love the ideas, keep them coming. It makes my day to read your blog.
Looking forward to your projects! Thanks for keeping us informed.
Thanks Becky! I am hoping to get some ideas on making homemade Christmas cards combined with a picture. Do you have anything ideas to share? Thanks!
Wow, I'm so very excited to hear about your upcoming kits!!! I LOVE THEM!
Thanks for keeping us all posted and for sharing so much of yourself!
You rock!
Becky, I just am enjoying your blog. While I have been following you thru CK... since before Porter being born...I remember reading (and seeing the LO's) when you had Porter. I have many a magazine, including your two sketch mags. I am happy that you have other things in the mix. I am glad to still be able to keep up with you. You are wonderful!! Love your sketches, your pages you make, the recipes, the decorating ideas. Your home is beautiful. BTW, Crew is too cute! Love the pic of him in the last post. How fast they grow!! I am glad you are doing well. I will miss seeing your sketches in the magazine.
Just had to say for the organizing laundry, that is how I used to do it too.. separate laundry baskets for all the different loads. I have since gone to a wire basket system that stacks. They are pretty decent sized baskets. I had to because of the limited space in my laundry area. I ordered them online.
I, too, have a bunch of things from IKEA!! Love that place.. great stuff, especially organizational things!!
Have a super weekend, Becky!!
I'm all for another kit similar to 365. I'd even go for one that was targeted just for the month of December! I can't wait to see what it is. :)
I'm way excited and happy to hear about your project 365 AND to have the Adult Life story pages here to print off...was wondering what happened to that link! Thanks!
I can't wait to see your new project 365 (just like every other scrapbooker on the planet!). :) I'm wondering if it will be something I could apply for my kids? With my third baby coming this Spring I know I'm going to have a hard time keeping up with books for all three of them. I have your school kits for all of their school stuff, but am wondering if I could do a picture a day or week for each of them for their individual books? Just trying to figure out how to simplify once baby #3 comes along!
Thanks so much for all of your creative inspiration Becky!!!
Hey Becky,
I love that you read everyone's question, even if you can't answer them all. If you still need one more questions here goes . . . What do you do with your kids' birthday cards? Part of me wants to keep them all and then the rest of me wants to declutter! I've been following an idea from Ali for Christmas cards where I do a square punch layout, but I'm not sure about this as a solution to Birthday cards.

Sounds like there are some exciting things in the making! Every think about coming out with another School Years kit? :)
Can you hear that sound??? It's me - doing a happy dance! I am so excited that you plan to revamp & continue P365, I had to read your blog twice just to make sure I read it correctly. I hope you can make it available internationally.
Thanks for letting us know what's to come. x
Okay, so maybe you don't think you're organized enough to do I book on organizing (we all think that, though). But you should still write a book...about lifestyle. Call it "Becky Higgins SOLUTIONS". You said, "I'm just really passionate about creating solutions for people." Over the years you've solved scrapbooking problems, homemaking problems, party-giving problems, and decorating problems for so many of us. We'd all buy another Becky book!
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer some of our questions. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us.
So excited : ) You have made my day/week about a 365 style kit and a Christmas card kit !!! Yay
I need help! My laptop and hard drive were stolen and all of my sketches (downloaded through the years!!) are gone! In an attempt to print less, I kept them all saved... I am so sad! Is there a place where I can go and download them all at once????
I am so sad...
I do my Laudry the same way, in the same order (Towls, colors and whites) and it is in our Master Closet too, but wider baskets (also from Target) and on shelves from the container store going up instead of the floor.
Looking forward to hear about your cards and kit.
this is soooo great...although i definitely don't do all of these things (because i am soo not organized) your blog inspires me to do this one day...
Wow!! It sounds like you have some great projects in the works! I'm excited to see what you have in store for all of us. I hope you'll still find some time to do more sketches. I literally can't scrapbook without them! Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to your blog followers!!
Becky I think you are super mom, super organizer, super chef, super scrapbooker, etc. THANK YOU! Hilary
Oh girl, I am super-dee-duper EXCITED about the possibility of a holiday card, expecially since you told me no a little while ago. Now, if you need any help moving that project along, you let me know, cuz I have a personal stake in it. It is time to get it going, so I don't have to come up with my own ideas :-) Signed, Happy, happy mamma of twin toddlers and a kindergartener who would rather scrap than take the time to make Christmas cards!
K this is kind of random, but I just heard about the Project 365. I don't know much about it but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how I get a kit?
OOOOHHHH, I am so excited for your version of 365. I missed out on it and tried to do my own thing, but I find myself not completing it unless I have a kit. What I did do did find its way into the SB though. Thanks, and I will keep checking your blog. Keep creating, CindyML
Hi Becky,
So excited to hear about your new projects. I have bought all the kits you have designed and I have always been 100% happy with my purchases. I hope your kits will be available internationally as I live in Australia.
Looking forward to hearing more details........
Jo
Just like someone else mentioned - I had to go back and read your answers again about the Project 365 idea you have. Wanted to make sure I read it right. I am just thrilled that you are coming up with something new for us. I have kept up with my picture and journaling every single day, but am thinking something slower paced might be a good thing too. I can't wait to see what you're planning.
Thank you, thank you, thank you...the suspense was killing me and then the answer was even better than I expected! I'm so excited to see what you are up to!
Thanks so much for reposting the links to the Life Story pages!! My girls are excited to do it. Thanks for being so willing to share your time and talents with all of us!! And thanks for all your inspiration!
Ooohhh Becky, I can't wait for your big reveal on what you have up on your sleeves... :)
