baby announcement & more Q&A
Hi there.
We've been burning lots of midnight oil getting ready for this week's launch of PROJECT LIFE. In the meantime, a quick bit of reading material for your day. First, a simple baby announcement idea and then a little more Q&A.
This is sweet Cameron.

I love the non-traditional shot of Cameron in my friend Kari's arms. This emulates how loved this sweet babe is. Adding text in Photoshop took me all of about 5 minutes or so and the baby announcement was ready to print.
Added note: The 2 fonts (and likely the 2 most commonly used fonts on my computer) are Rockwell ("cameron thayne") and Gill Sans Light (everything else).

For those just joining the party, I invite my blog readers to ask questions from time to time ... and I answer a handful at a time. Here is the next batch.
Q: Everyone wants to know about the necklaces for their daughters...I want one for me. :)
A: They're the cutest, huh? And it can be such a fun addiction to sit and bead and bead and bead. So relaxing. Anyway, I believe my friends got a lot of beads at usbeadery.com and craft stores (Michael's, JoAnn) and who knows what other random places. There really are a ton of online resources for all kinds of beads.
--
Q: I was just wondering if you could PLEASE re post the meal planner PDF?
A: You bet. Here is the Word doc (in case you want to edit for yourself) and the PDF.

Q: What's your favorite adhesive?
A: For all-purpose paper-based stuff (like scrapbooking, card-making, etc.), I like the Duck brand Permanent Easy-Stick adgesive rollers.

--
Q: Did you take a photography class to learn to take such great photos?
A: Yep, a couple years in Photography in High School. And I got a D one semester. True story. The only D I ever got in school.
--
Q: Cookies are always on my mind...do you have an all time favorite recipe?
A: So hard to choose THE favorite, but I'm going to have to say Andes Mint cookies. I posted that recipe here.
--
Q: Do you let the kids watch DVD's in the car?
A: Only if the drive is "longer". Not around the neighborhood or running quick errands. I like talking to my kids. I also appreciate "quiet time" to think or make a phone call. So yes, the DVD player totally comes in handy for entertainment. Let's be real.

Q: What is the first scrapbook project you would recommend for someone who has never scrapped before?
A: I seriously love that someone has asked this question because I seriously feel so strongly that PROJECT LIFE is the perfect first-attempt-at-scrapbooking type of project. You don't have to "scrapbook" (cutting & pasting & figuring out what goes where). You don't have to spend time choosing papers and embellishments. And yet you get the most awesome end result. And album with a far more complete & interesting look at your life than what most of us get with the traditional layouts we've been doing.
I'm a believer.

Becky,
Last year at this same time, there was an article in CK that you wrote about Family History and there was a link to some worksheets that had questions that siblings could fill out about each other and their parents. I have both of your family history books and those particular questionnaires are not in either of them. I can't seem to find them online either. Could you direct me to where I could find them. I loved them and I really want to use them for Christmas this year.
Thanks,
Cambria
Becky,
I love the duck adhesives, also. I used to buy it in the packages like you have shown, at Wal-mart. But, Wal-mart hasn't carried them for years (in Utah). Where else can you buy them? I miss them.
Thanks,
Kimberly
LOVE the baby announcement! Do you mind sharing the names of the fonts that you used?
Becky, I'm happy to the Project Life will be available soon! Would you also please consider offering the page protectors separately? I don't know if you are using the same method as you did for Project 365, but if not, could you consider offering them as well.
Thank you!
Sue
becky, sorry to add more questions: but, what fonts did you use on the baby announcement? that's darling!
thanks Becky for all the Q&A.....I didn't send mine before because I thought most of everything had already been asked....BUT
now I have a archival question... I have tubs, several! to be exact of photographs from my Father-in-law that are all dumped together & OLD!! Of course they are one of a kind & delicate. I received this when he passed away & no one else showed interest in them (can you believe it??!!! I was so honored) anyway, this was actually what started me scrapbooking 5 years ago.......that moment of sorting through people I don't know, no clue what the event was or when....very overwhelming. I didn't want it to happen to my precious pictures. So I've been stumped as to how to best archive them. I am nervous about using adhesive directly on them, making them into "today's" style of papers etc.
So, what would you do? The other roadbump for me is, I have 5 kids ages 13-2! How to split up their heritage, so to speak!? Have you tackled something like this before?
Thanks for the inspiration.....
~Ada
p.s. hey people, she wrote the font right below the picture!!!!
thanks for being through Becky! (you knew we'd ask)
I am about to order Christmas cards from an on-line source and I'm bummed because I've used your Christmas cards for the last couple years and had hoped you would post more information about the cards. I've loved, loved them in the past. Totally understand you have a life as well though....:) Maybe next year!!
I so want to be sure to get Project Life - please say there will be enough available!
Hi Becky, I vaguely remember you posting the template you use for your To Do layouts a while back. If my memory serves me correctly, could you post a link to it again? Thank you and looking forward to Project Life!
Hi Becky, thank you for sharing on the beads and the project life update. I have to say I love the duck adhesive as well.
Can't wait to hear more about the project life and other stuff.
I love the idea of the simple fonts, it looks so clean and doesn't interfere at all with that beautiful baby! You are so wonderfully creative and I was wondering if you do your own blog themes, they are so "you". Have a wonderful day -- I'm in Tempe and can't believe that it's November right now with the temps!
Back in February you shared your system for Christmas cards/photos. You also mentioned that you had a system for baby, graduation, and wedding announcements. I am curious to see what that entails. Thanks for all you Q&A's. Keep them coming, and I'm anxiously awaiting Project Life.
Totally off topic but was just wondering if you've decided to vaccinate your family for the H1N1?? I'm really conflicted. Just curious!!
Thx
Carolyn
Thankyou sooooo much for re posting the menu planner : ) You have seriously made my day.
xx
The baby announcement was nice and clean. You have me on the edge of my seat waiting to see Project Life. :)
It would be nice to have a download section here on you blog where you could list and link all the downloads you have done. This would maybe help people to find them easier.
Thanks for all you do,
Kathi
I have purchased the "duck" brand tape at JoAnns - love the 40% off coupon.
Kathi
Just purchased the Duck brand tape last night at JoAnn's. Used the 40%off coupon, too!
Loved the 365-- and slacked a bit so since there was a bigger event each month I filled one week each month with the photos of bdays, valentines, st patties, easter, bday again, camping, summer adventures, back to school, halloween, thanksgiving, christmas and so on. Then did a highlight of my kids that year- favorite photos/ memories, and things that I was grateful for... so I made it my own and can see this being so easy to do again with the project LIFE which I have ordered and am so excited for. Great work and Thank you.
A photo says a thousand words, and in my busy life I just don't have the time for a thousand words a day - yet I do it with a click!

Hi Becky, thanks for the bead link but seriously, where did your friends find the cupcake beads?! They are TDF! Did they make them or did they find them on etsy or what? Please please please ask them? Thanks!
