thankful #2

I am thankful for the fact that changing diapers in this same spot every day is, well -- just that. A part of my life. My every day world. This scene is a reminder to me of the miracle that it is to have sweet, healthy children. No one should take that for granted.

Oh, and for SURE I'm thankful for disposable gloves. Handling raw meat, changing a nasty diaper, random painting projects ... you name it. I use them daily.

I am thankful for the chore of doing the dishes. Because seeing this mess reminds me that we have food to eat -- plenty of food -- every day. And running water and electricity to get those dishes clean. And loved ones to join us for a meal once in a while.

I am thankful for these anti-bacterial hand soaps from Bath & Body. You'll find them at every single sink in our home. And I'm thankful they go on sale once in a while because that's the only time I buy them.

Yay!! I'm not the only one who has a huge number of those B&BW soaps under the sink. :) I, too, only buy them when they go on sale, and boy, do I stock up when they do!

I want to thank you for being thankful for your healthy children. I have one healthy child and one 16 month old miracle baby. Mighty Max has undergone 5 surgeries to date and is currently tube-fed. It makes me so sad to see people who take their healthy children for granted....so thank you!

Over my kitchen sink, I have this saying frame. "Thank God for dirty dishes. They have a Tale to tell; while other folks go hungry, we're eating very well. With home and health and happiness, we shouldn't want to fuss, for by this stack of evidence God's been very good to us." On my frigerator I have a photo I took of a bag lady's shopping cart filled with her life--to remind me, there but for the grace of God go I.

I really appreciate today's post.

Wow! OdessaW, I am definitely copying those wise words above. Becky, I eagerly read your blog each day. And today I'm grateful for you! For taking the time to remind us of the small things or really not so small things! Because it's not a small thing when you have no food to eat! I Adore your blog!

Becky...

I have decided that I am going to complete my "Project Life" with the "What I Am Thankful For" theme. I have already asked my husband if he will take the camera every once in awhile and record what he is thankful for as well. You inspire me ALWAYS and look forward to reading your blog!

Thank you for such a great perspective on things that a lot of us grumble about. I swear dishes dirty themselves in this house. :-)

You know, Becky, I use gloves to change diapers, but I pull the first one over the soiled diaper, by holding the diaper in that hand, and then pull the second glove over the first one to make a nice "no odor, no mess" package for the thrash. Try it.

Love that I'm not the only one who sometimes has a sink that looks like that, when I see mine next time I'll think it's ok - I'm not the only one.

Love it all. I am so going to make a layout in the next few days on the things I am thankful for. I want to order the Project Life and start it out as doing a picture a day as well. I had every intention of doing it last year, but just never started.
I do have a silly question for you. Those dishes on your counter. Where did you get those? I love the colors.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day and a Happy Thanksgiving.

I am also taking 'gratitude' pictures this week. Love the inspiration on your blog Becky and also the comments of the other readers. Kind of cool how everyone gets inspired and feels the urge to 'do something with it' in her own way!

Have a great thanksgiving everyone!
