say hello & a project life update

First of all, a Project Life update: If you are a U.S. customer and tried to place an order in the last couple of days, you noticed the shopping cart was temporarily unavailable. Everyone's orders are safe & sound. Please note that the shopping cart is available again. We apologize for the inconvenience.

WE HAVE NOT SOLD OUT. Happy Project Life ordering!

You guys. Seriously. Thank you so very much for your Project Life orders! Incredibly exciting to see so many of you enthusiastic about this movement of preserving pictures & stories in a much simpler format. So many of you who are so ready to let go of the "creative pressure" that happens with traditional scrapbooking. So many of you who are seeing this as something you want to share with others who need a solution too.

Speaking of sharing ... my fanatical spray-painting post the other day took up so much room on my blog that it quickly shoved an important post out of the way. In case you missed it, it's worth repeating. Because I know many of you would love to give the gift of Project Life this holiday season, but you know that the kits will not quite arrive in time ... I have a solution.

Download this picture. Print this picture. Put it in an envelope or box or picture frame. Put it under the tree.

Sharing this in 2 sizes. Take your pick.

Now ...

I would like to introduce you to a few lovely people. Say hello to the folks who helped bring Project Life to ... well, life.

Say hello to Lori Whitlock.

Gorgeous, isn't she? Lori is the graphic designer behind most of the products that I've developed over the past couple of years. Most importantly, she is the graphic designer behind Project Life. She is so good at taking my sketches & rambling descriptions & ideas and turning it into actual, real design. She is responsible for the look & feel of Project Life. And you can find Lori blogging here: lorilynnwhitlock.blogspot.com

--

Say hello to Andrew Allgaier.

Andrew is witty & charming & smart & entrepreneurial & sharp & attentive & creative all wrapped into one. He is my youngest brother (can you tell I'm a proud big sister?) and the genius behind my web site. Like Lori, he is so great with interpreting what I see in my mind's eyes and making magical things happen in web land. He built this site that you're looking at now. And he's helping a lot of other clients build their sites, their companies, and most importantly - their brands. You can find him @ andrewallgaier.com and follow him on Twitter here.

And for your half-time entertainment ... Andy & me back in the day:

--

Say hello to Taylor Shupe.

A family friend for many, many years (I knew him when he was a little punk) Taylor is now all grown-up and a business smarty pants. Without Taylor, there would be no Project Life. He is responsible for getting these kits manufactured, as he is the liaison between us and the folks in the factory. (You should hear him speak Mandarin!) He is running a successful business called Isis Dei (you've gotta check out their funky laptop sleeves & accessories) and Taylor is also helping other clients grow their businesses with his mad production & product management skills. More information on that found @ impcor.com.

--

Honorable Mention: Say hello to Kevin Allgaier (a.k.a. my "techie" brother)

So everything I said about Andrew holds true for Kevin. Seriously. I come from a crazy-talented family. All 5 of my brothers are just so darn smart in their respective fields. And Kevin's field is information systems. Technology is not only his work but his play. He's obsessive ... um, I mean ... passionate about technology. More than anyone I know. So the reason for this honorable mention? Kevin was the final push for me (us) to get our first digital SLR camera in 2002. Kevin was the main influence for me (us) to get our first Mac computer a couple years later. Kevin has taught me a LOT. About technology and life. Oh, and he did that awesome video tutorial found in the "Free Holiday Cards" section HERE. He's on the web @ kevinallgaier.com and on Twitter here.

Thanks for letting me gush a little about these fine people. I'm just so proud to work with them & learn from them. And I'm so grateful for their invaluable contributions to Project Life. Without them, Project Life would not have happened as quickly as it has.

Wow, what a great team you have. You should be very proud of yourself and your team, you are doing a terrific job. I have a question about the digital side of this wonderful project. Is there any new information or updates for this. I am really hanging out for it. I actually turned to digi scrapping when I couldn’t get a hold of you P365 kit (from Oz) last year and have almost completely turned to Digi scrapping - so I am hanging out down here! Thanks again.

Sounds like a great family and great team. Surround yourself with talent and love and you can't go wrong. The only think that would make Project Life better is if it was manufactured in the US. In these times of double digit unemployment and economic hardship, I am really trying to re-focus on made in the USA. I'm even willing to spend more to do that.

It's neat to see the behind-the-scenes people that make it all happen. Such a talented group. You guys did a great job putting Project Life together!

I have a question...when will the digital version of Project Life be available? Just curious!

Great job! Out of curiousity, is everyone you work with/interact with in this industry from the Church of LDS? I must admit that when I began scrapbooking, I felt like such an outsider not being of that religion and taking on this hobby. I still don't know why there are so many die cuts of bee hives....just askin...

Project Life Question- Is there an "age-appropriate" guideline? Kind of like on board games, it always tells you the age. Would my almost 11 and almost 14 year-old girls be able to do this? They both have digital cameras and we've got an Apple. I haven't seen you mention this age group in following your blog. Also, if I scrap through blogging (I print my blog and all the pictures I've taken through the year) would I still want one of these kits? It seems that I'd be doubling my work load.

Thanks a mil!

Fun to read about your "staff," Becky, thanks for sharing!

I have to ask again...can your brother please-please-please add RSS to your site? I have just about all the other blogs that I follow right there in Outlook RSS and it's SO handy! You and Lisa B are the only holdouts. :-) Can't be that hard if everyone else is doing it, right?!

Becky, I remember well when the word got out -- "Becky Higgins went digital!" It was big, big news and the reason I took a digital camera to my first CKU in 2003 where I used it to take your picture!

Looking forward to getting my three, yeah three, kits come January. I'm looking forward to scrapping my life for once.

becky, are planning on doing anymore 'video greetings' like you had in Christmas 2007? you don't even have to do giveaways--just seeing your home decor & scrapbooking ideas (as well as page layouts for your kiddos & *things* about their everyday's to document)?? i LOVED them...& continue to watch them as reference materials even today...

so...say yes? we'd all love it!

Thanks for sharing your "team". I was wondering if you know of a website that would help me with the time capsule page in your baby kit? My kids are older and I never thought of getting that information when they were born. Thank you.

I'm anxious to order these, but I've been kind of waiting to see some sample pages! The concept is awesome and it's just what I was thinking of doing to make things more simple! I'm also hoping to order one for my daughter for Xmas. Any chance of getting a few completed page sameples?

to awesternman I understood the first window to say the charges would be immediate. (like a preorder). I think you could go to the Project Life to the first popup that asks if you want to proceed or order later to see that. Hope that clears up your question.

I am curious about the digital version as well. Will it be a typical digital kit? Or will it be what you produced for the Project 365 which were more printables vs. what I would consider a true digital kit? It would make a difference on whether or not I purchased this one or waited until the digital release.

What a great team you have assembled!! I hope we'll see products from them for years to come... :D
I just purchased the kit after weighing some options and finally decided that I really want to do this! My mother passed away just before Thanksgiving and I have decided that by doing the POTD method it will help me to keep my promise to honor her every day. Thank you so much Becky for this gift. Merry Christmas to you and your entire family!!!

P.S. My mom's name was Becky also so I know you are a good lady.. ;)
