answering your questions.
The digital Project Life is new and exciting and different. And so you're going to have a few questions. And that's great!
May I suggest ... no ... May I strongly recommend that you please take a few minutes to do 2 important things? If you watch the instructional video and read through the FAQs, you will get all sorts of information and answers. This goldmine of information is found right HERE.
PS - I do believe I need to do another give-away here on the old blog. Has it been a while? Have I really been that busy? Well then, we will just need to do something about that.
Stay tuned. That's coming up! : )

Project life sounds like the perfect give away!!!! This is truly a wonderful way to document my adopted son's 1st year of life. THANKS so much for making that journey an easier one and fun to boot!
I was sort of hopeing that the digital product would be something I could down load and edit in photoshop to add and enhance the physical kit, it this something that you have considered.
A DIGITAL Project Life sounds like a great giveaway! I am love love loving working with Project Life since my package arrived that I can already think of 100 ways to use the digital version already! I enjoy taking my potd so much that I have been duplicating it on my new blog so I can share with family and friends! http://kellyhill365.blogspot.com
You rock Becky! Thank you sooooo much for getting me my PJL here in Canada!
I read through the FAQ's. There's some good info there. My question is about the pages. Are they sturdy? Will they hold up to lots of little hands looking through the books? My kids look at the albums over and over so I worry about pages not in protectors getting torn and whatnot.
Congratulations!!! What a huge accomplishment. I've just spent a little time on the site but it looks GREAT!!
I have made my first 3 weeks and I LOVE IT!!! Great job Becky.
I've been messing around with the book tonight, and love the concept. My only problem so far is that when I insert vertical pictures, they stretch and skew. Is there a way to fix this? Hoping there is an easy fix. I watched the video (twice) and also read through the FAQ's and browsed the rest of the web site to no avail. Any ideas? (Resizing photo only makes it a smaller stretched square.....)
With the digital...1. I accidentally deleted a background. I went to put the original background back and it did but without the numbers at the top. 2. Some of my pictures look distorted when I go to drop them in--how do I change the orientation of the photo blocks to accommodate a vertical photo? 3. I had a group picture to insert and when I did it cut off the people on the end. Are there ways to fix these problems? Ellie (I'm having too much fun!!)
I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this !!
It's beautiful! Perfect for digiscrappers who want to customize EVERY lil detail, and easy and perfect for people who just want to plop pics and add journaling!
Be Thou Humble... I did the same thing with the background! If you view it in the big screen, the numbers are there.
Amanda D... I have about 30 photobooks from Shutterfly that range from 5x7 to 12x12 and they are pretty sturdy. My 2 yr old hasn't trashed one yet... and he trashes everything! :o)
So excited about this! Here's my question: I plan to use it to create photo books for my daughter and her 3 best friends who are graduating from high school this year. They have been super tight for the last 4 years and I have had the fun job of documenting the highs and lows! My question is, can I create 1 book and order 4 copies, and if so are they each $99? Thanks Becky!!
What size are the pictures in the digital book? I want to crop my pictures before I download them to the site.
THANKS!! Way excited about this!
Quick Question:
How do you resize photos that don't end up square? Everytime I click on "resize" my photos stay square and just get larger or smaller.....I'm trying to resize to a more rectangular shape as I saw in your book example.
Any hints?
Let me just say Becky that the digital version of Project Life is better than sliced bread! WOW! Thank you! You have just made my life easier!
Next year, PLEASE release a digital kit for digital scrappers. I'm sure some people like the current format with this book, but there are *at least* as many of us who are sorely disappointed and taking our business elsewhere.
Wow! Just started playing around...very cool and easy! This makes this project so simple! No problems with the program except I wish there were a "magnify" button like in Photoshop b/c my computer monitor is difficult to read with some of the very small print. (took me forever to figure out that in the text box it said "insert text here".)
Otherwise, having fun!
Yes, I really need a magnify button. Using the enlarge button still doesn't help me read the text.
i am so excited about project life!
I tried the digital version out last night and I confess as a digital scrapbooker with a year of experience and a few Shutterfly books under my belt I was a disappointed. I watched the video and read the FAQ so that's not the issue. Here's what I didn't like:
1.) Even in preview mode I can't see enough detail ie: can't view my layout big enough to really see how the text lines up on the journaling card in particular.
2.) It's very hard to edit the size of the text box and move it around to be right on the journaling area.
3.) Once I found out how to edit the photos that worked fine, but it wasn't as intuitive as I would have liked.
4.) What I would REALLY like as a digi scrapbooker is a template that works with Photoshop and is Shutterfly -- or some other printing service -- ready and a kit with the papers, journaling tags etc...
I wasn't sure what to expect - I love the ease of this program and for someone who is just starting to go digital I think this will be a relatively painless way to get a whole year done without getting really far behind. I do hope you'll do a digital kit or templates that would be compatible with PhotoShop in the future. I think in years to come I will want more flexibility and control over what my pages look like.
I've already got my first three weeks done except for a few vertical pictures. I'm having the same problem as others - my kiddo looks all distorted and extra wide no matter what editing I try to do to the pic. I also really wish for an undo button... I'm sure that's something you are already working on!
Thanks for all of your hard work. I think this is going to work out perfect for my family for this year and I'm excited that I will actually have something to show for the year come next December. I can't tell you how many books I have partially completed! This takes the pressure off and will be a fun and relatively easy way to keep up. Thanks Becky!
Becky, it looks great! And I really want to do it this way, but I'm having the same problems as a couple other people.
I have a few vertical photos, and they're just not working properly. I read the FAQ that said it supports vertical photos and also watched the video, but no help there. :(
Also, I totally second whoever said that it needs an undo button!
I didn't think I would be buying, but I've been playing, too. Three things are keeping it from being completely user-friendly for me.
- no undo button
- can't figure out how to resize photos
- lack of date strip clip art (for when you accidentally delete the background!)
If you are adding onto the FAQs, please consider these subjects... perhaps the features already exist, but it isn't intuitive.
I'm planning on using the digi-version to make a 2009 book using photos/journaling from my 365 blog, but after reading the above comments I am concerned b/c most of my photos are portrait/vertical, rather than landscape/horizontal.
I can't wait to get started! I'm going to use the digital version to make an album of my daughter's first year, I have pics from almost everyday already! Awesome job on the design, and it looks so easy!
If you are taking daily photos, be sure to link them on Project life Tuesday on themomcreative.com! Loving all the great photo ideas.
I just bought my KIT on Amazon!!!!!! I am soooooo very excited!! Can't wait. Said it should be here by Friday...Whoo Hoo!!
Looks great - Can't wait to play around! Thanks Becky - Great JOB! Bridget
Hi Becky;
I just received my Project Life kit from Amazon and it looks amazing! I do have one teeny-tiny little problem with my binder though - the middle ring won't close properly. Can you let me know where to direct replacement questions?
Thanks!

What size of photos should be downloaded. I have my digital camera set to high quality so they download at 4 or 5mb. I typically shrink them down to 4x6's in Photoshop. But I wondered what size you'd prefer to see on your system. Thank You!!

I am trying to decide which kit to use--- the paper or the digital. Is there a way to get larger journaling cards on the digital version (month at a glance version) for days/photos I have a lot to say? I do not see them anywhere. I believe someone else also mentioned no date stamp clip art. Am I missing it?
I'd love to try this first step at digital because it actually sounds do-able. I'd like to do one digital book for my daughter + one for my son.
I love this concept! I have started the digital project life but am experiencing problems as many others have commented. (I too have watched the video and read the FAQs)
The problem with putting vertical or horizontal pictures into 'square' frames is that it cuts off much of the picture. When I try to 'edit' the photo it will not allow me to reduce it to make it fit.
I too have difficulty in seeing what I have written in the journaling boxes and wonder if what I have written can be read in amongst the patterns.
I really hope that there can be a solution to this! Also a date stamp would be a great idea!
Thanks,
