post-it love.
More on love today. Wanted to share with you an idea with Valentines Day coming up. This is actually something that we did for a few friends at Christmas time. The idea behind this -- with love being on my mind so much lately -- is that love is shown in so many different ways. Small and big.
One of the small ways that we can show love for our family is to leave quick notes for one another. Notes of encouragement, paying a compliment, expressing gratitude, saying we're sorry, and even just a simple "I love you". I have fond memories of my brothers & I putting post-it notes on the bathroom mirror for my parents. My mom kept them collaged all over the inside of the cabinet door for years.
Little expressions of post-it love. That's it. Simple.

This is how we shared some post-it love with our friends. You can find little containers in the organizational section of WalMart or Target or the dollar store.

1. I "decorated" the top of the box with a simple label (attached with a piece of clear packaging tape). I'm more simple when it comes to decorating, but you could get really creative with your presentation.

2. The first thing you see when you open the box is a card with a note from our family, explaining what the post-it notes are for.

3. The next little card is a scripture to remind us that love is a commandment.

4. Then you see a couple of pens and post-it note pads.

5. And who wouldn't love some candy at the bottom? Some fun red & pink wrapped Valentines candy would be so fun.

In case you'd like to do this for Valentines Day, here are a couple PDFs, ready to print.

Scripture card: scripture.card.pdf
The personal note from you should be, well ... personal. So while I'm not sharing my file for you to print, here's what our note said (click on it to see it larger):

Thank you so much for sharing. This is such a cute idea, and perfect for Valentine's Day. Thank you again.
What a great idea! My family is spread out, but how neat would it be to just a little post it note in the mail! Thanks for the great idea!
You are so kind to share this idea. I love the whole concept, and I'm so grateful you gave us the whole run-down on how to do it for our own families! : )
You are way too cute--love this idea!
LOVE this Idea,
I am getting ready to teach a Bible study on marriage and relationships. I plan on giving one to each of the girls in the study. and encouraging them to do the same.
Thanks again.
Kris
That is a darling gift idea! I LOVE it. :)
What a great gift to share! I'm always looking for fun, inexpensive, but personal gifts. I'll definitely be "borrowing" this! Thanks!
When I still lived at home, my dad would leave a post-it note for me on the microwave before I left for a youth group retreat, saying "Have a great trip!" or "Have fun & be good!"...his handwriting is atrocious but I could always read the note. Of course I've saved them. I love your "love notes" idea and I plan to share with my friends on Valentine's Day. Thanks for the fab idea!!
I think this will be a great gift to all the members of my Arizonan host family..Thanks a lot for sharing, Becky!
I LOVE this idea! Thank you for sharing the "kits", I'm going to put some of these together!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing! How about sharing the fonts you used so we can keep the "note from our families" in the same style? Thanks!
Becky this reminds me of a TV commercial here in New Zealand ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEfXqM_B4Mc
Hi Becky. I have a visiting teaching blog, and I posted this idea about post-it love notes a few months back. I love this talk by Elder Bednar. It reminds me of what you've been talking about. Very much appreciated.

LOVE this!! Wow, how great is this :) V-Day here I come :)
Sweet idea! Thank you for your creative expressions.
I love to leave love notes, especially for my kids, because I am a dance teacher and am gone in the afternoons when they are home from school. I often leave them in hubby's van (since he picks them up from school) or on their bedroom door, the pc or tv screen, the toilet seat, the fridge, the microwave-you get the idea..so they know that I love and miss them in the afternoons. Actually, one of my POTD in my album was of a note!
You're sweet!
I actually received a beautiful letter from my husband to me and our girls this morning!
thank you for sharing this!
it is such a super sweet idea!
many blessings

would you be willing to upload a BLANK personal note card, with the words LOVE Note written at the top so that I can have the same font, color size etc?
I'd finally figured out my childrens' class Valentines but this will be LOVE-ly for the special adults/families in our lives!
LOVE that you're doing this with your blog, Becky!

I loved putting notes in my boys lunches (after they had made them and put them in the fridge the night before). Now I leave them in their rooms as getting one at school when you are 16 isn't cool :)
Thanks for sharing this great idea.
love this idea and will be storing it away for the holidays
I love this idea and is what I am going to leave on my kids beds for valentines day, so they play along and show their gratitude towards others aswell. Thanks for the great idea, I have just downloaded your font so I could make the Happy Valentines Day Card to go in the box with the scripture, you are just amazing :)
Oh I love this! We have been doing this for years in our family but we never used a cute little box to let others join in and I just LOVE that idea!
Thank you for sharing such a great idea! I especially appreciate that you provided the pdf's!!!
What an absolutely thoughtful gift! Thank you for sharing. I think I need to go make some of these now!
Hi Becky - this is such a beautiful idea! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!!
What a GREAT idea! Spreadin' the love...
Wow what a great idea! Thank you.
What a neat idea!!!
LOVE LOVE this idea!
It amazes me how you manage to come up with such interesting, yet simple, ideas that are so creative and just plain lovely. :)
Oh my goodness. I blogged about this very thing the other. Well not about the whole gift box idea, but about how we should show our love everyday and not just in February (I even mentioned the post-it specifically). I am so stealing this idea and doing this for Valentine's gifts instead of the ordinary. I love how someone else feels the same way. YAY!!!
I am just LOVIN' your idea!! I *cannot* wait to implement it in my life and the lives of my family and friends!! Thank you for sharing with us and for being a constant inspiration... :-)
I love these ideas, keep 'em coming!!
I did have one question for you though... what camera(s) are you using? All of your blog post photos are great and I was just wondering what point and shoot and SLR cameras you have been taking them with! Thanks :)
PS.- I'm a newbie to your blog- found out about Project Life (and bought it off amazon immediately!) and I have to say THANK YOU for such a down to earth, awesome approach to life, love and the pursuit of scrapbooking!
How cute! You are so creative!!
Becky--I'm back with another comment & a question. I just have to ask... what font did you use for the word "notes" and "one another." It's fresh and I just love the little details in it. It's definitely not Courier.
Wow. That is one of the best and most creative ideas I have seen in a while. Thanks for sharing--I am definitely using this for Christmas 2010!!!!
