First, a quick little shout-out to Karen, a fellow blog reader in Round Rock, Texas. I believe today is her 50th birthday!

So am I the last ones to try these little containers?
First of all, my kids have never liked Cheerios as a snack. But really — Cheerios was totally smart to come up with this little number. And honestly, it’s the best container I’ve been able to find (without doing an extensive online search) to house some snacks for my little ones. Picked them up at WalMart.
Tip of the day: Use a label maker to easily identify what’s in the container and have a few options on-the-go in case your child decides that NO! They don’t want goldfish! Or NO! They don’t want animal crackers! Heaven knows, I’ve had my fair share of Target meltdowns. I’ve been “that mom” that gets the looks of seriously-you-can’t-tame-your-child?
I’m still learning that snacks can be the magical solution to combat that kind of behavior. That, and a pep talk in the car before we get to the store. Which, as we all know, does not work with an 18-month-old.

Great idea! I love these containers. and swear by my label maker. Snacks soothe the savage beast in my wee ones as well.
Thanks, Becky!
I am definitely not above bribing my kids with snacks. I have a 4yo and 19mo and the 19mo is a terror at the grocery if we're there more than 30 minutes. I'm all about the snacks.
Where are they at Walmart? Near food or containers? Thanks =)
They also have goldfish shaped ones. That is my 4yo favorite!
These are a favorite in our house. The are great for little hands, attach to the stroller/cart/etc. and are designed to not spill!

"Spill Proof Snack Buddy"
Can we have a peek in your diaper bag ? What do you keep in there ? I feel like I'm always hauling too much stuff and I have to dig and dig to find what I need !!
I hope these hold up better for you than the goldfish one I purchased. My 2 yr. old snapped the built in lid right off the top after the first use. Bummer! They are very cute though!
Okay, so I seriously thought my daughter was the only one who did not like Cheerios! How comforting to know! And I love the snack container idea!
Love these containers. My eight-year-old still likes having snacks in them. With three boys, I have had my share of meltdowns also!
Food always works!! We love the Munchie Mugs at our house (I have a 5 and 2 year old) and they have held up very well for the year and a half since we purchased them: http://www.munchiemug.com/
I use ones that are like the ones that KristynG has a link for, only l get mine at walmart in the baby section with the sippy cups.
Becky, you are the sweetest! Thank you for the "shout out". It is indeed my big 50 today but instead of feeling "old" I realize I am very blessed as I have a wonderful husband, three incredible boys and great friends. Life is good, really good! Your website will be my POTD!
Yes, you must be the last one to discover these *wink* I used them whem both my girls were little (now ages 9 & 7). I also find they didn't spill to much when dropped.
Hi Becky,
I really like the snack trap. The only downside is that it doesn't have a lid that seals it completely so you can't store something in it for too long. But it's great to fill it up just before going to the store. The cheerios container didn't work for my kids. They always managed to spill their snack.

We have one of those Cheerios containers floating around our house (I mean it….I have no idea where it is or which kidlet has it, but its been in the house for years and just when I think its gone, a kidlet brings it out of their room with legos in it or seomthing!) and it got used for little toys more than anything. But, it is cute and easy for a little one to hold. :>
My daughter kept spilling any and every container we used for her when she was a toddler, until we found something similiar to what Cindyh was talking about (snack trap)…only I think we got ours at Walmart. Even Hubby said that it was the best invention ever!! He was a wee bit sick of spilled goldfish! :>
I hate it when my child has a melt down, but I think it's really rude when other people give you the look, like they're child has never threw a fit in a store before! I love the snack containers, going to go get some today.
Temper Tantrums in the store? Ha! Ha! We have all been that Mom – so there with you – though I'm sure there are a few who would never admit it. Love carrying snacks in my bag, too! They are great. Good luck on your next shopping adventure!

Although my kids are now 13 and 10 I used those containers way back when. I also always kept in the car…bottled water, baby wipes for messy hands and faces and paper towels for any really big messes. In the summer with those days at the park an extra t-shirt or leggings in case they had so much fun they got really messy!
Have you tried chocolate cheerios? That's new favorite in this house! Love the container! Will have to check it out. You are one of my favorite gurus!
Becky,These littlw snack containers are great for other things as well such as little barretts that we all get lost on outings and also you can put in a wet wash cloth and it will stay wet for quite awhile. I had one of my kids that didn't like the feel of wet wipes so cloth it needed to be!

Hi Becky!
Along the same line of organizing… I think I saw where you keep your canned goods in soup organizers much like those found at the grocery store. I've looked at IKEA and The Container Store. If you wouldn't mind sharing, I would really like to know where you were able to find them. I'm trying to organize my pantry. Thank You! Suzi
I really like the Snack Trap for my 18 month old…they can put their hand in the soft top but the raisins, crackers etc. don't come out when it tips over. It's SERIOUSLY awesome. They sell a similar one at WM now, not sure how well it works.

Looking at your picture, I can tell which container's contents! my kids would choose immediately! (Hint: the most colorful)
I don't think people look at you and think you can't tame your kids. They look and think, "that is SO funny when it isn't happening to me!" I giggle to myself, because I totally know how that mom is feeling.
Those little cheerios containers are great, but I'll tell you what, I stumbled upon the BEST snack container ever (imo) a couple of years ago. They are called On Tray 2 Go (http://www.ontray2go.com/). They are the size of a sandwich container, but they snap right onto the shopping cart! They are fabulous and were invented by a Stay-at-Home Mom.
No WAY! I had something before you— my domestic goddess—did? (sincerity, not sarcasm, intended here) The world has officially stopped on its axis. These have been around for what seems like forever, but they went in to hiding for a while. They are awesome, especially when working on portion control or taking a little bit of finger food to church to occupy a toddler.
I found a way to reduce tantys down to almost nothing – there is a very funny clinical psychologist here called Nigel Latta (http://www.goldfishwisdom.co.nz/) and one tool is the Ladder of Certain Doom. Draw a ladder on a piece of paper – bottom rung is the time they get home from playgroup.kindy/school, the top rung is their normal bed time. Mark down in 15 minute increments but start each day fresh at normal bedtime. Move the child's marker down whenever they break the house rules and within a week, I had beautiful manners and lots of "yes, mum!'s" or "how can I help?" So much better than pocket money in our house!
And it's not a "can't you control your kid look". Usually it's a "I've been there and I'm so sorry it's your turn…hang in there mom" look.
They use to come free in the Cheerios box!
That's where I got mine!
LOVE IT!!!
Pretzels? NO! Cheerios? NO! Crackers? No. M & M's Sniff, sniff, ok.
I loved your blog today and totally heard the little ones. Thanks for the Cheer up!
I need to purchase a Project Life kit for a wedding gift. When and where will they be available again?
I had one of those containers when my 17 yr old was a tyke…well maybe 2 of them…had 2 kids back then…she still uses it once in a while to impress the high schoolers. She'll probably take one to college!
I'm going to have to look at the links above at the other containers…these are our favorite and an automatic gift for the 1-2 yr old crowd:

They're available at Amazon too. Pricer, but for me, it is all about time. And mess. The cup makes the kids take longer to eat their snack which means more time for me to finish my shopping. And they can't dump all the cheddar bunnies on the ground:-)
Hmmm…haven't seen these yet, either. I don't have little ones, but can see these being useful for me to take when I go out birdwatching. Bagged snacks always get crushed in my gear bag, these might just work! Thanks!
I just wanted to ask you if you like pineapples? No, don’t be like wtf. Just say if you like them. It is important lol
Please, are you able to PM me and notify me couple of far more thinks about this, I’m really fan of the weblog…

I admire what you have done here. I like the area where you put you are doing this to trade back but I would try on close all the comments that this is working instead of you as well.
Weighty stuff as usual…
That is some inspirational stuff. Never knew that opinions could be this varied. Thanks for all the enthusiasm to offer such helpful information here.
If you can answer affirmatively to any of the above questions you may find that bargain clothes shopping is very worthwhile. There are several ways to go about bargain clothes shopping.
have you ever considered using those formula dispensers? You know the ones from Target that are blue and have a green lid. It has three compartments and you twist the lid over the right compartment flip open the top and pour out the contents. Well, my sister in law uses hers for snacks. She’ll put raisins, cheerios, dried fruit, trail mix, gold fish…you name it. Its cool because it extends the life of the nifty container past bottle age. Just thought I’d share!
