Know what this Saturday is? May 1st. Right. Good. Know what else it is? National Scrapbooking Day. Did you know that? True story. But you know what ELSE it is? I’m kicking off a little party here and you’re invited.
That’s right. It’s time, people. It’s time for my big photography giveaway! In honor of National Scrapbooking Day, we’ll be giving away photo shoots. As in … remember when Kara Layne and I did that giveaway last month?
Well, many of you know that I found that to be just way too fun. Couldn’t stop there. Nooooo. HAD to be all inspired to do it again and again and again. Had to open it up to photographers everywhere, didn’t I?
Oh yes. It’s true. I did. Remember the map? Right. That one. With a few dots here and there, marking where photographers were interested in being a part of this whole thing.
Well, folks. The map has filled in. I have been swarmed by emails from all over the country this month. (And even a few countries outside the U.S.) And it’s awesome. It’s photographers everywhere who want to GIVE AWAY a photo shoot to a deserving family in their neck of the woods.
How cool is that, right?
Very. It’s very, very cool that they’re willing to do it because when a photographer – a true artist – gets behind the camera, it’s so much more than just “taking pictures”. It’s work. And it’s work that they love, but it is work. So major kudos to all the photographers who are participating in this. Amazing people. Sharing their gift, their talent, their time.
And many, many of you are about to be blessed with the news that your family has been chosen to be photographed by one of these cool, talented people.
So be sure to stay tuned in. We wouldn’t be celebrating National Scrapbooking Day if we didn’t have scrapbooking. And we wouldn’t have scrapbooking if we didn’t have photographs. So we’re celebrating BIG — to honor all of that, and … because I love my blog readers.

Wonderful, thank you! We haven't had a family photo done since my boys were very little and now my oldest is 16. Time has gotten away and I feel terrible about it. Would love to have a professional shoot before they begin their own adventure, especially since my oldest is going to join the military.

Very cool. When does said announcement happen? Unfortunately I'll be spending my National Scrapbook Day by being in classes ALL DAY, like 8:00 a.m. -9:00 p.m. kind of all day. I'll try to sneak on here before I head to my first class though!

Thanks for the great giveaway. It's because of you that all of these artists are willing to do this for someone. I've always wished for a photo shoot! My daughter has always been pretty photogenic, but in a year we still have yet to capture the 3 of us (Mommy, Daddy and Ava) on film! And it saddens me that I can't put a family portrait up in the house. Anyway, I'm sure many feel the same and have similar stories…so this is just fantastic!

Becky – I have been a fan of your for a long time (CK)…I'm not sure how one would sign up the gift of getting pictures taken but I guess I'm going for it and hopeing to throw my hat in the ring. My youngest son is 3 and we have not had family pictures taken for the last two years – why? Because he has autism and getting him to take the 'sit, smile, be happy' is very difficult for him and for us. I would love it if someone who feels up to the challenge would try to take a picture of our family of 4 (oldest son is 6)! I am a stay at home mom who has 3 small children. Our son Kaden whos 4..our daughter Taylor who is 3 and our dear sweet Gracie whos 1.. I think about all the moments I would love to capture of them just palying with eachother, laughing; loving and yes even fighting. I want to remember their carefree days. The way the are right now. I do the best I can with our camrea but Its never the same as having a professional capture these precious moments! It would be a true blessing to win something like this. As the mother of the groom I was devistated to find that the parents of the bride had not hired a professional photographer for the wedding! I’m sure your readers can empathize with me! Although I am trying to “move ahead” and do what I can to pull together an album of my son’s wedding, I long for a professional photoshoot! Can’t wait to see who you post from the Sunshine State!
What an amazing idea, I would love a professional photo shoot of my family. I just personally hate my picture taken as I am not the size that I would like to be. But be that it may, I would still love the photos as I am not very good at them myself.
