the pantry.

I promised I would show you what our recent organizational project was. THIS is what did with those Snapware containers:

But that won’t do. You want to see more.

We maximized the space in our pantry last year by having the shelves torn out and putting in drawers. Makes a whole lot more sense so as to not forget what is hiding in the back. And of course … it’s so much prettier. There’s just something about a pretty pantry.

Labeled pulls were a must. We found these online at Spokane Hardware.

We know what’s in each drawer. We know exactly where to put stuff away and where to find things.

I labeled the drawers (and everything in my house) with our handy dandy label maker.

A few other things found in the pantry, such as grissini (new to us).

Familiar with them? They’re all natural, low calorie, low fat, low carb kind of breadstick. I enjoy a couple of these each day and reach for them instead of Oreos, peanut M&M’s, and other delectable but not healthy snacks. I’d rather have the other stuff, but we’re working on some habits and these are actually tasty.

Back to the pantry. Let’s see … a few aprons.

I know you’re curious to have a peek inside one of those drawers, right? Alright. But don’t judge.

And because everyone loves before & after shots, here you go my friends.

If you happen to be local (AZ) and happen to need any woodwork done, John Broderick is the man. He is genius with anything wood and has done a few amazing projects for us. bbfurn@juno.com | 623.566.2232. I’m sharing this with you like I would share a great resource with any friend. Not because John asked me to say anything (I’m not sure he even knows how many people read my blog) but because he is just darn talented.

And I like to share.

  3. bugg says:

WOW I would have never thought to put in drawers. GREAT IDEA. they are now filed away on my must do list LOL

so awesome – love the new look :)

  5. k says:

oh my goodness. This is INSANE> (and I mean that in a good way!!!) Just beautiful. I'm w/ Rachel…I (who don't have a pantry) would've been delighted to have it the "old" way too, but…don't you just SMILE when you walk in there now? Can I ask what is holding your spices in place? It looks like they are just perched there w/o thought to the lovely children who might come in (at least at MY house) and disturb them. Do tell. Thanks for sharing Becky. Amazing!!!

  6. Courtney says:

While I do love the after photo- my eye was centered on your rotating can racks.. did you get rid of them? Is your new system as efficient?

  7. **Doris** says:

That is perhaps the most beautiful pantry I've ever seen. :)

  8. sabakose says:

DUDE – I loved your pantry before .. and now it's just amazing .. and shouldn't even be behind closed doors!! :-) WOW .. hands down the prettiest pantry EVER!!!!!!

  9. Kathi says:

Is that framed art I see on the wall. You are making everywhere lovely.
I would like to know if your pantry holds as much now as it did before. I would think not, but am curious.

  10. Just Rhonda says:

Looks AWESOME! I would have never thought of drawers either! But it looks awesome!

  11. Denise Jonas aka Aunt2Jaymz says:

WOW….. I love it. Both before AND after! I'm so jealous!!!!!

  12. csca says:

    Hi Becky!
I had inquired some time ago where you found your can holders in the "before" shot? Do you mind sharing or would you mind selling your old ones? Thank You!

  13. scrappingmom says:

just beautiful! I don't think I've ever said that about a pantry before. : ) Love the square storage. Very nice. Thanks for letting us into your lives. You have certainly filtrated ours.

  14. Lori says:

Hi, Becky! The transformation is amazing (though it was wonderfully organized before). My question is: Where are your canned good now?
I wouldn't think those would go in drawers because you would only see the top of the can, but maybe I'm wrong. Would love to hear your organizational thoughts….
    Thanks!!
    Lori

  15. Teresa says:

That is beautiful. I wish I had even a portion of that storage space. My house doesn't have a pantry or a linen closet.

  16. Elizabeth says:

Um, you're coming over to my place next, right?? : )

  17. ClistyB says:

Please tell me you let things go and worry about other things sometimes? Please? :)

I bet those drawers keep the pests at bay pretty well.

If I knew you, each time I came to your home, I would switch the contents of two of the drawers, and then tell you a year later. For the heck of it.

  18. Andrea says:

oh my! I thought my pantry was disorganized before I read this…I may have to cross everything off my to-do list this weekend now! That looks awesome!! Do you get those grissinies at your local grocery store. Never heard of them before but would love to try them.

  19. Rebekah says:

beautiful pantry! You've got to try Penzeys Spices (http://www.penzeys.com/). Their stuff is so much tastier (and less expensive) than the grocery store brand.

  20. Autumn says:

It looks great! I noticed that the spice rack is the same, just repainted. It looks better in white :) Thanks for showing the before and after pics.

  21. Diane says:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your pantry.

I love it. That is so for me. I need this. I love how organised it is.

Hmmm, mind ticking over… how can I do this to mine. Off to chat to my husband right now! LOL

  22. Heather says:

Is it sad to covet a pantry? I hope not, because I'm awfully jealous of yours, Becky! We don't have a pantry at all…just kitchen cabinets. Boo hoo! :(

  23. Alayna says:

That's SOOOO much better than a Pottery Barn Catalog! :) I would never ever have thought of drawers but you're right, they make total sense plus they hide the mess. When I actually get a pantry I am talking my husband into making some for me

  24. Sonya says:

WOW! I love it! The drawers are so much better than shelves! If I ever get to build a dream kitchen I will remember that for sure! Our current pantry would be perfect for drawers, if we weren't renting it!

  25. jennifer says:

That is a gorgeous pantry – I am jealous!

  26. Lisa says:

Gosh Becky…thanks so much for sharing…I love to decorate and see everything that others do. You did a great job!!! Now I wonder how good I would be at refilling those awesome jars from the bags everytime???

  27. Kim says:

I'm jealous…I don't have a pantry, just plain old kitchen cabinets. But then again, I'm blessed with plenty of them.
I must say, Becky, your before shot doesn't look bad either. Great job!

  28. Lynette says:

You are the queen of organization;-)

  29. Alijoy says:

All I can say is OMgoodness! Beautiful! One question though – do the plastic containers hold the entire package of cereal/ pasta etc and if not, what do you do with the leftovers? I've loved this idea but have had a hard time finding containers that hold it all – otherwise for me it requires double storage and then I forget what I still have… I love the uniform look though and am definitly envious.

  30. Lori says:

wow that is awesome – thanks for sharing!

  31. The Usletons says:

So fun to have an awesome looking room that just happens to be a pantry!! I was just wondering what you did with all of your food storage stuff? Is it still in there?

  32. Melissa says:

I have to say the you are quite possibly the most organized person I know. Not everyone would have thought to put the spoons in the drawers with the applesauce. Amazing.

  33. Rebecca says:

Wow, that looks soooo fabulous!! What did you do with all of your Cansolidators?

  34. tccba says:

Wow! I am drooling over the pantry space alone, but then to have gorgeous drawers and handles and…I barely have three feet of counter space in my kitchen. This is beautiful!

  35. Denise says:

Thank you so very much for sharing. I never would have thought of doing something like that, but I must say it totally works! Fabulous! Thanks for sharing! One quick question – what is the framed recipe/artwork/? above your spice rack? Any organizational tips for the laundry room?

  36. Janna says:

Wow! Now I want drawers in my pantry. Such an awesome idea! I love how you have organized your pantry. Mine is in serious need of being redone.

  37. Jennifer says:

    Love IT!!!
    I have a project life question…..
I have about 7 days total with NO pictures….(blank spots in my albumn) I work 3 times a week 7am-7pm as a nurse, so I cannot take pics at work and on those days I am at a loss of what pics to take? Then I get behind, frustrated, etc. Any ideas? I just feel like some days are so similar,at a loss? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

  38. Christa says:

What did you do with your tall bottles of oils, vinegars, etc.?

  39. Michelle says:

That pantry would make my heart sing.

    It's beautiful.

  40. Kristen Duke Photography says:

I am moving this week and will have a huge pantry and I'm so excited for organization. I love the container store containers. I,too, wonder about the canned goods and want to see inside EVERY drawer!

  41. Kirsten says:

I have the same questions about the cans as well!! Both pantries look amazing! How do you store the cans? Do they roll or do you keep them upright? You are the organization queen!!!! After residency, we sure as better have a pantry in our house and I will be doing this! ;-D

  42. Chris says:

It looked pretty darn good before, I'd take it. But, looks gorgeous now!!

  43. kat-in-texas says:

The Before and The After both look good to me….ha. Thanks Becky!!!

  44. Karen says:

Love the drawers (and really love that you keep the spoons next to the apple sauce…talk about an easy grab and go!). Our pantry isn't walk in (how I wish it was!), but its two shelved cupboards, floor to ceiling. They are really narrow and Really deep and I am always loosing the stuff in the back! I want Hubby to convert them to roll out shelves for the same reason you had drawers made. Looks like you have a beautiful & efficient pantry! :>

  45. stephanie p says:

This is just what I came to your blog for. May seem funny, but we are building a new home and instead of leafing through truckloads of “idea books” and pottery barn catalogs, my first thought was to stop by your blog to see more of YOUR solutions! I have been a fan of yours since your beginnings in CK and I know you are an orginizational NUT! This pantry is out of control! I can’t wait to show my builder:)

  46. Gina says:

Uh-mazing. Totally amazing! LOVE that pantry!!!! And I love that you’ve done drawers. We’re in the process of thinking about a total kitchen re-do (our house was built by a bachelor FOR a bachelor…we have four children…nuff said? lol) and are thinking all drawers instead of lower cabinets and a pantry with almost all drawers. Thanks for the validation, Becky!!!

  47. Jany says:

What will you do with all the old can holders (cansolidators?) and baskets? For sale? Free to a good home? :)

This may be off base, but how about changing the theme every now and then? Maybe not if it won’t look right, but I just get tired of seeing the same thing all the time. My own computer has about 1000 wallpapers that randomly rotate every 15 minutes, lol. Adult ADD I guess. Good post though, thanks.

    Hi, Becky!

Since it’s been a few months since your pantry reveal (which I loved), I was wondering if I could ask you a question. How are your SnapWare containers working out for your cereal and snack storage? I’ve been highly considering ordering some, but I noticed on the Container Store site that someone had commented that hers didn’t seem to seal tight enough.

    Thanks!
