BIG PHOTOGRAPHY GIVEAWAY: Let’s get this party started!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

Today, May 1st, is an exciting day for scrapbookers everywhere. Around here, we are kicking off the biggest giveaway to ever hit my blog. It’s so big that I can’t contain it to just one blog post. In fact, it will last all month long. Starting today, and every single one of the 31 days in May … you will want to swing by for some eye candy and inspiration.

(Go ahead. Tell your friends.)

Why am I doing this?

1. Every family should be photographed. I am guessing that most of you reading this are usually behind the camera. Right? You need to be in the family pictures too, my friend. I am excited to share with you talented photographers in your area that you may be thrilled to learn about.

2. You probably love taking pictures. As you look at the photos taken by talented artists with various styles, be ready to be inspired. You will improve your own photography skills and gain confidence in the wonderful art of preserving your family’s memories.

3. I want to honor and celebrate family and photography, two of my greatest loves. And let’s be honest. What’s not to love about a big, giant giveaway, right?

What to expect:

- Every single day in May, five photographers from different geographical areas will be featured, each in their own separate blog post.

- When you see a featured photographer in your area, leave a comment on that person’s post for a chance to win a free photo shoot with that photographer. Or nominate someone you love. Be sure to leave at least your first name & city. You are welcome to leave a brief comment or explanation about a family that you may be nominating or why you’d love to be the winner.

- I will announce the winners in chunks of about a week at a time.

- Keep in mind that I did not contact any of these photographers. All 150+ of these individuals contacted me, wanting to be a part of something special. They are givers. Each one is incredibly generous to share their time & gifts with another and I think that’s pretty darn cool. Many are full-time professional photographers, some are budding semi-professional photographers, and a few are not professional at all, but they’re good behind the camera and want to benefit a family in their neck of the woods. Bless them all.

- The daily postings are going to be like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get. You won’t know ahead of time which state or country will be represented. So I suggest that you make it a little ritual to check in every day so you don’t miss a photographer in your area.

- 34 states are represented. Some states have as many as 10-15 photographers (such as California, Washington, Arizona, Utah, and Texas).

- Represented countries outside of the U.S. are Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Scotland.

- Yes, I will still have “regular” blogging interspersed throughout the month as well.

Okay, enough of this chit-chat. Let’s get started! Have a look, click on their links if you want to see more, and enjoy the month-long celebration! Here. We. Go.

Becky… This is just the coolest thing I’ve ever seen done through a blog! I’m so thrilled and proud that my daughter in law, Denne’ Boring (denne’ alyse photography) is participating for the San Jose/Santa Cruz area. She is so amazingly talented and I can’t wait to see the family that is chosen for her to photograph. So cool that 150 photographers are donating their time and talent for this very cool event! Thank you for doing this!

    hi becky,

BUT, yes, not too many pix of me w/ my whole family.Any chance of a photographer giveaway in Hawaii (where I live); Kailua, Oahu if i want to be totally egocentric! 14. Barclay says:

Wondering if there is a way for my hubby to be one of your featured photographers!?

  15. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
