brings a smile to my face.

** Originally posted on friday, 5/21 **

A lot of things make me smile right now. A lot. Here are just five for right now.

1. My friend Stephanie stopped by last week, just to give this to me (and a sweet note). I mean, how happy is this? I feel so loved. She learned to make it on notmartha.org.

2. I seriously love this magazine. I’m only two issues into it and think it should grace everyone’s home. I just really love their purpose and their mission. Thumbing through pages of enormous everyday pictures and simple recollections from people about family, love, home, and life. I just love it. I am especially inspired in: mothering, creating memories & traditions, homemaking, writing, and photography. Learn more on seeingtheeveryday.com.

3. I just had almond butter for the first time in my life. Love. David picked it up at our local grocery store where you can grind the almonds yourself and this is what you get. I’m almond butter’s newest fan. The flavor, the texture, the pureness. Mmmmm. I’ll be putting this on some celery today for a snack. (I even like it better than the freshly-ground peanut butter that he also got. And I like peanut butter.)

4. I love when our children do things that remind me of my own childhood. The older they get, the more my recollection is awaken. Like this moment, when Claire spent so much time organizing her dolls and animals on her bed. And there was barely enough room for her to curl up at the end of the bed for a snooze.

5. The spray-painting strongly continues in my life. I just spent this morning outside with the kids (school’s out!) painting several more things. Each of these items was begging for a color makeover and I happily attacked. My creative energy for home decor has been at an all-time high lately and once this Big Photography Giveaway is all wrapped up, you can expect a lot of home-related-idea-sharing on my blog in June.

I can’t wait to hear about your home decorating tips. I’m currently redecorating my home. On another note, my daughter does the same thing on her bed. So full of toys that you can’t even find her. Have a blessed weekend.

  5. Kim says:

Wow! Love the flower. Will be making one for me and my mom in law soon. Wish my mom was still here for one. This is right up her ally, she loved flowers and pins of that nature.

The pic of Claire is priceless! I used to do the same thing, except at the other end near the front of the bed and I had so many pretty pillows, I would sink down into them. I worried my mom many a time when she couldn’t find me!

I am a fan of almond butter too! It’s great! My mom in law turned me onto it. I am also wanting to get into spray painting some items around here. I sure love what you have done so far with yours, and cannot wait to see more in June!

Thanks for sharing! I love your blog and I check it frequently to see what’s new with Becky! I sure miss seeing your layouts from your kids albums! Those were always inspirational for me! If you ever get a chance, please post some new ones! I can bet I’m not the only one who would love to see some! I do albums for my kids too. I am still using your sketches for their most recent layouts I’ve done. Still love your sketches too! And of course, Project Life is Project Awesome! Love It!
    Keep Smiling :)

    Hi Becky,

Thanks for showing us your happy things, nice to see all of them. I can’t wait for you to show us your new items that you sprayed. Love Claire’s bed so pretty and funny with her animals on it, I think all girls do that. When did your kids get out of school, that’s early. Mine still have 2 weeks to go, when do your kids start school? What are your plans for over summer with the kids?

  13. stephanie p says:

Oh my heavens!!!! I cannot WAIT until this photography thing is DONE and we can see more goodies from your home! I am building a new home right now and I am tired of leafing through Pottery Barn type idea mags. I want to see YOUR take on your surroundings and try to apply. I love everything you do color wise, organizational idea wise and decor wise!

In the mean time, I will head over to that new website you suggested. I love periodicals. Scratch that. I am addicted to good periodicals!

    Becky,

Im new to Phoenix area and have not found a store that you can grind your own peanut butter. May I ask which store you get it from? I lived in the Utah and drove 35 minutes out of my way in SLC to get to a store that I could grind it.

    Thank you
    Jill :)

Seeing the Everyday looks like a really nice magazine. Yesterday, when I first read this entry, I quickly subscribed to the mag once I realized I could not find them on the shelf. Thanks for the tip (they are going to love you for mentioning them!)!!

If you like this mag, then you may want to check out a website called Once Upon a Family. They have great products encouraging family and the importance of everyday things.

    Happy Sunday!

  30. Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
