pumpkin makeover

Oh, for the love of Fall decorating.

All crafty pumpkins are not created equal. But most of them tend to have some drab little stems and leaves at the top. I mean, I get it. It’s kinda realistic and all. It’s just that … I just want my pumpkins looking a little more peppy. That’s all. So this is what I did. Super simple. Super easy. And super quick.

For these particular pumpkins (that I’ve had for years … probably got them at Michael’s or some craft store), they happen to be made of a very lightweight foam or something. So I literally pulled out the original stem and stuck in my new (happier) sprigs of faux green berry-like foliage.

No matter what material your pumpkin is made of, the point is this: If there’s something you don’t really love about it, just change it. No need to go and buy new stuff, you know?

I hope you know this post isn’t just about my silly little pumpkin makeover. I hope you are thinking about other ways you can be creative with changing  just a little something here or a little something there. We are creative creatures. Add your personal touches to your stuff.

I love the whole picture. It is so Fall. Thanks again for sharing… My whole house needs little tweaks here and there… but first I need to declutter. Any decluttering ideas you’d like to share?

Great tip….how many of these Michael’s pumpkins with the plastic-like leaves do I have?! And you’re right, much better with some different greenery, etc. I’m on it!

PS Tried your french dip sandwich recipe. Awesome and kids loved it :)

I love it! I’m reminded that when we are satisfied with what we have, we will find greater happiness. Such a simple way to spiff up without having to go out and buy all new.

Sometimes just gotta look at those magazines or whatever and SEE what they did, and you would be amazed how many times you have the “stuff” right in your own house. Thanks for sharing Becky…I must get my hands on some of those green ball/beady kind of thing you had in the post the day before…those are YUM!!!

  11. Becky,

I just wanted to let you know I am the winner of the Project Life that Kara Layne was giving away. I cannot even begin to express how EXCITED I am to have one of these Amazing Kits!!!!

BTW, I am friends with your fellow Arizonian, Miss Brenda Reed. We used to work together when we both lived in Columbus, OH. I may have already told you that… if so, sorry.

Also BTW, I love your hat in the previous post’s photo. You look adorable. I’m going to have to go out and buy one of those. And… I think I have that same ring you’re wearing.

    Anyway, sorry for rambling.

Becky you are going to get my decorating inspired this weekend I was going to scrapbook Disney land now I have the irresistible urge at 12:30am to pull out the box of stuff our wedding and repurpose the fall decorations. Scrapbook quietly or decorate and risk waking hubby with the sound of falling boxes. Decisions decisions! Thanks for the inspiration!

Such truth! We don’t have to make major changes to make a big difference — little changes here and there can really create a new look. Something to remember for our scrapbook pages, our wardrobes, our lives! :)

Becky, I am IN LOVE With your backsplash. Would you describe the color as peacock blue? I am thinking of painting a wall in our master bathroom this color. I LOVE it!

Just wondering when you started decorating for fall. I’m so ready to bring out my cute pumpkin decorations, however, I’m not sure if its too early.
