Life is full of big decisions. For everyone.
That’s why it’s just fun – once in a while – to make a decision that’s not serious at all. Not life-changing. Not big.
Like this.
I am pulling together another 15-minute floral. (Remember these and these?) Just something fun and fast and a beautiful splash of Fall color for our entry way.
Love the pot (already had it). Check. Love the big flowers that I got 50% off (Hobby Lobby’s current sale). Check. Love the green filler stuff. It’s pretty. But … do I like it in this context?
With: Kind of fun and a little unexpected. Helps lighten it up and possibly adds some needed character?
Without: Simple is good, right? Although without the greenery, I’d shorten the stems a bit more so they’re a tidge more cozied into the pot.
Okay, I know. I’m a nerd. But humor me and put in your vote.
With? Or without? What’s your opinion? Majority will win. : )

Hmmm, that’s a tough one. I’m leaning toward with the filler. Also, aren’t there some sort of rules or guidelines on how high the arrangement should be relative to the height of the vase? Do you even care about the guidelines? : ) I’m just curious. I love all of your vignettes around your home. They’re great! I’ve tried to make my own arrangements, and I just get frustrated and quit.

With!
Yep. . .with!
I’m in the minority early on, but I like things simpler lately. So, without and closer together!
This is fun.
Forsure, with, just because I love green!!!
I agree – without and closer together
Ususally, I am a simple clean kinda girl but in this case I like it with.
WITHOUT.
With is good, but WITHOUT is more like, “hey, I had these great flowers growing in my garden, and I plucked them to put in this cool pot.” Just more random – not so “planned” looking. I like it.
Without.
without!
I vote with–just cause I like the extra color in there!
I say with…
I say without!
With and I would still shorten the stems very slightly.
Both are nice, but I like with. It’s not too much, but just enough to make it extra special.
without & closer
Without and closer— the color of the pot against the flowers adds enough contrast:)
without
I like it best WITH! It adds an extra POP of color!
And I must say I love the colors together! So very pretty!

without and closer.
Without – shortening the flower stems is a good idea… The contrasting colors are terrific already, doesn’t need more than that really…
I’d have to say without!
with. very pretty!
with
without
Without … and I do like your pot!
without
without!
With!
However, if you want change down the road you could always remove the extra and it will still look nice!
I LOVE the colors!! I saw without and closer together…
oops…I meant “say” without!!

Less is more:)

With. Love the pop it gives.

without, looks more fallish
with!
With! The splash of green heightens the rust color of the flowers.
with.
without ….arrangement is too loose
I say without!
without!
Without and closer together…you always inspire me!
without
Without!
Without the extra greenery….Sometimes simple is just better! This is one of those times!
Love the colors, but definitely without!
With. It adds a little something.
with
Hmmm…love just the orange and the blue. If you added the greenery, maybe just a small peek of green ring around the mouth of the vase below the orange flowers ?
Without. I like the simplicity of just the blue and orange.
with
WITHOUT
Wow, this is tough, I really like them both. If you would add just a touch of the greenery, maybe once strand, it would be perfect, if that doesn’t work, without.
Without…:)
without. simple is really best
WITH, for sure
Without. It’s simply pretty that way, without going overboard.
without – keep it simple
Like it better without!
With. It adds flow — gives the eye somewhere to travel
Thanks for asking
WITH, WITH, WITH…
I’m going for “with”! Loved your post on the pumpkins too. Just saw a neat idea at a shop in Sedona, AZ. They had pumpkins made from gorgeous velvet, stuffed and then real pumpkin stems sewn on top – all beautiful deep colors, burgundy, brown, orange…really pretty! I think they would be easy to whip up!
Without!!
My vote is for “without”!
With!

With I feel like it completes it

Without… I like the simple, pretty look!
I like it “with.” Gives it that little extra pop.
I think WITH looks a little more complete. Love your blog!!

Without. Love the vase and color combination!
WITH. A florist I love once told me that you need to have everything in threes. Three colors or three types or three sizes etc… blue vase, fall flowers and green whimsy
With, it looks unfinished without
Without
Without, but both ways are gorgeous so it’s a win-win.
without
Without. My first thought was with….but the longer I look at it…I like the without more. Have fun either way.
without!
Without.
WITH!
without!
Without. I think the greenery makes it look untidy.
I like it better with. Fills in some of the nooks and crannies, just like in a wildflower garden.
With!
without- I like it just simple
without and stems trimmed.
i am laughing b/c i just got back from joann’s with my three girls (10, 4 and 20 months) where we picked out our spray paint and florals and foam to go in a container (picked on another outing) which was all inspired by your previous posts!
With – since it’s for your entryway, it gives it a little more personality to say “Hi, welcome!”

Oh yes…with. I like the contrast it gives.

Oh without – so simple, so beautiful.
WITH!
I see on this page I am not in the majority. I definitely vote without. But I wouldn’t shorten the stem very much either. I just like it the way it is. Good luck.
Without
Looks like I’m not with the majority either – I like it better without. I think the flowers look great on their own
)
without
Definitely with!
I’m in the minority it looks like, but WITHOUT!
Happy Weekend!
With.
without.
simple is good.
Without. While the white filler is unexpected, it takes away from the natural beauty of the vase & flower.
With, I like them both, but if I had to pick, it would be with:)

with!
First, LOVE the vase. Second, LOVE the color of flowers to go with the vase. So my first vote is without because the two colors are lovely together. But the filler looks very nice as well. So I’m not sure. Wasn’t that helpful?
with
WITH!!!
without
I’m going without- simpler!
with, but if I had my choice, actually would be with but with a little less
Definitely with!!!
with – it matches the pumpkin you made!

absolutely, positively.
Without… simple is good!

With….adds a bit of contrast in the colour choices
Without, like to keep it simple. But maybe more of the large rust flowers to fill it up.
Without – just love the orange and blue together.

P.S. I can not wait until all the teenage boys finally leave my house so I can have cute stuff like that!!!
I say without. I am a simple simple gal. Either way is beautiful though! You have inspired me to go back to Joann’s and buy some sunflowers I saw there. Now I just have to find a vase! Shopping here I come! :0)
Without. And I’d leave the spacing.
Without
Love the simplicity of just the big flowers (but I would shorten them a bit like you mentioned)
Without
with, i think it makes it look fuller and prettier.
I think without, but they both will look great, whichever way you go!!!
Without-maybe add some of those little fun sprigs you put on top of your pumpkins instead? So cute!

With
And could you teach us how to make the fabulous floral arrangements you do?
With!
Without, because sometimes less is more
With. With. With.
You need the greens to balance.
with for sure!
without. simplify
I vote “with” and here’s why…the filler helps separate the flowers and you need something light when you are using dark flowers, it makes them pop! When you don’t have the filler in there, the flowers just blend together…
I love the color combos and can’t wait to see your final product.
With, just looks more natural
without, less is best……
definitely with!
Without – the size of the smaller flower needs to be slightly larger – these flowers get lost among the “huge” orange blossoms. Love the look. May have to run to H.L. to find some new additions to our home.
Without. And I wouldn’t shorten the stems. It looks more natural and artsy this way like you just walked through a meadow picking flowers and dropped them in a vase when you walked in the door and took off your wide-brimmed sun hat that you set on the table next to them.
definitely WITH!! the fillers really make the flowers pop.
Without

I see people are pretty equally split on this one – I’d go WITH, personally!

Without!!!! Looks more simple. Good luck with your decision!
With…just looks more fun.
Without…. and don’t shorten the stems either!

I am thinking WITH! It’s really fun and visually appealing.
Without – it looks clean and simple. I agree shorten some of the taller ones though.

WITH!
With, but don’t shorten them to much. Just a touch so they add some whimsy.
with
Like I said on FB, without. The greenery is too distracting. I also wouldn’t change the stem length. I think tighter would make it seem too cramped. Would perhaps need to see it first, though. (Easier to take away than add back, though. *sigh*)

With.
I’m a sucker for simplicity…but for some reason, i really like the hint of green.
With, totally.

They both look great but I vote for with.

With!
Without – I love those deep, rich autumn colored flowers.
without!
It is pretty stuff… but I think it’s more stunning WITHOUT
without – I think it is more “you” with out (from what I know about you from the projects you have shared on this blog- so my knowledge of “you” is limited- but to me the clean look is more “you” and I think it makes the orange pop more)
with, it looks more complete

With. It makes it feel finished.
I do agree that if you did it without the stems need to be shorter.
I like it with!
I vote without, but to shorten the stems. I like it the simple way, and think the color of the flowers is more the focal point then.

Pam
With. I love the nonuniformity the greenery adds. Much more fun for fall.
WITHOUT, and I agree…trim the stems down to make the appear fuller and snugger in the pot.
Tough one. As is I have to vote for with. But if you do tighten up the without stems- I could go for that.
