Well I have been ‘crafty’ as far back as my teens….but my official scrapbooking start was in 1998….when the choices were limited…and I used regular glue (the horror)…and cut all my pictures into weird shapes!! LOL

I started scrapbooking when I was about 8 or 9 and my mom bought me a Polariod camera. I took a bunch of pictures and was constantly begging for more film. At first I didn’t know where to find paper and all that stuff (I’m not sure it even exsisted!) so I cut holiday and birday cards, stuff from magazines and stickers to decorate my pages and I journaled on the bottom of the polarid photo. No matter how busy I am I have to do a little something creative everyday! It makes me happy!

I started taking pictures in the 2nd or 3rd grade (remember the old 110 film?) Hard to believe that was 27 years ago (yikes!) My early scrapping attempts were in the old magnetic-paged photo albums and I would cut out words or phrases from magazines. From there I graduated to scrapbooks of my sister’s sports clippings in high school (and mine too) with rubber cement on non-acid-free paper. Thank goodness someone showed me “the way” of acid free adhesive and paper. These days I’ve got a scrap room full of stuff (I love my stash!) and a stack of books that are in the works, including a wedding, a honeymoon, 2 trips to Europe, my daughter’s first 4 years, my current pregnancy (technically, I’m still up to date on that, yay!) and a Project Life kit that I really need to catch up on. But I love it all!
Since I was 15…I remember I picked up my first issue of CK and it was the October 2000 & I absolutely LOVED your Yahtzee layout. Since then I was always on the lookout for your layouts. I also got the Hall of Fame 1999 book, that had two girls on the cover splashing in the mud. I was recently browsing the card section of my grocery store and there was the picture of the two girls on the card! Anyway, the magazines really helped. My first project was redoing my baby book, which I did without ever seeing another person’s layouts, and when I look at it now, I cringe! 12 years…wowza!

I have been scrapbooking for 30 years. I started scrapbooking in 1980. My newborn daughter Julie died of SIDS in 1980. I had so many pictures and keepsakes from her birth and her funeral. My mother had been doing geneology books for many years, but they were more fact oriented and very monochromatic. I wanted something more interesting. I wanted to something that would show her personality and where I could express my feelings and journal my memories of her.
I was looking for a way to keep my memories of Julie close, and I found that with Scrapbooking. Of course that wasa only the beginning. After I was done with Julie’s book, I went on to do a basic scrapbook for each of my other children. For myself; my scrapbooks are extensive volumes of events, moments, memories.
As all my family have gotten interested; Scrapbooking has become a way of getting together regularly. As my daughters have gone out on their own, we’ve made it a point to get together and scrapbook regularly. I, my sister’s and sister-in-laws get together every three months for a sister’s weekend.
So scrapbooking has become the way I remember all the big and little moments of life. Scrapbooking keeps the memories close and the details of those memories remembered.

I would cut random shapes in pictures and paste them to white paper and make captions with my sharpie type pen…. I love my stuff! And of course these kits. I’ve been paper crafting probably close to all of my 46 years
– for as long as I can remember, I’ve been making things with my hands. When cardmaking & scrapbooking came along it was only natural for me to hord all the “stuff” I could get my hands on!! Again 
– so, if I win, I will add to my growing collection a wonderful new kit. My hording does lead to some pretty neat creations and does not “all” sit idle…tee hee…enjoy your paper crafting lives out there – memories fade but acid-free can last a life time!!!
