Thank you for the most genuine, kind, heartfelt comments on yesterday’s blog post. I am so grateful that video “spoke” to so many of you.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me, and tell me how you were touched, and how you feel motivated to move forward with documenting your life in 2011.
Thank you for all the kindness & feedback on all of the videos that were a part of my 12 Videos of Christmas series.
Thank you to Charlene, a fellow blog reader who happily and eagerly volunteered to do all the transcriptions for the videos so that no one missed out on anything that was said. I know several of you benefitted & are grateful too. (This is Charlene with her hubby.)
Thank you for your patience. We’re just about ready with the new web forms, in case you having any missing or damaged items. We’re also really close the arrival of the Journaling Cards & the Divided Photo Pocket Pages sold as additional items outside the kits. These are scheduled to arrive at Amazon the first of next week. I know some of you are waiting for these additional items so you can purchase with the kit, to save on shipping (which is smart).
Thank you for all the Project Life SHARING that’s going on — between you & your friends, the mentions on your blogs, the conversations with family members, and especially over at the Project Life Community, where there is a lot of great idea-sharing.
Thank you for all the Project Life glamour shots you’re sending in. Loving these. Will be sharing more. (Anyone can submit their picture anytime you want. Email it to projectlife@beckyhiggins.com.)
Yes, that’s Ali Edwards (top, center). This will be her second year doing Project Life and I’m honored that she has made it a part of her life-documenting journey, like so many of you. Anyone who knows Ali knows she’s an incredible example of telling stories & documenting life.
If you’re interested getting a peek at Ali’s 2010 Project Life, click HERE. She will likely be sharing her plan for 2011 soon.
If you’re interested in Kelly Willette’s plans for Project Life, click HERE. She’s a super talented photographer & designer.
I know I’m just scratching the surface here. Again, I’m so grateful to all of you who are blogging about your plans for Project Life. Please feel free to share a link to your blog post if you’ve done something similar. You know how I feel about inspiring each other.

Hi Rachel: Thank you so much for your kind words. I truly enjoyed doing this for everyone that needed it!
It was a true blessing to me!! Happy New Year!
I have LOVED all your 12 Days of Christmas videos!! I have shared several of your links and your videos on my blog as well. I have ordered my first Project Life Kit and it was shipped a few days ago – I can’t wait to get started!!
I have already started a Project Life category on my blog and am hoping to keep up with posting weekly, sorta like several others have done.

I am still finishing up 2010 (umm…journalling from June on…oops) but will look forward to purchasing my 2011 stuff toward February. Last year while my husband was deployed he told me he wanted to buy me a massage for Valentine’s Day. I told him I’d rather have Project Life because (a) it was cheaper than an hour massage, (b) it would take me much longer to complete than an hour massage, and (c) I would cherish it a heck of a lot longer. Needless to say, I’ll be asking for 2011 PL for Valentine’s Day again this year.
Becky, thanks so much for sharing so much of your personal life with all of us. Enjoyed the videos, the how to’s and the music. Loved it all. Most of all, thanks for your constant inspiration to all of us in cyberland. Happy 2011.
Hi Becky,
I really do enjoy your blog. I am looking for a suggestion/idea. I started Project Life last year and really enjoyed it until April when it all fell apart. Now, I have 4 beautiful months documented and nothing else. I would like to start again this year, but the question is: What do I do with only 4 months of a completed album? I am looking for some good ideas because so far I have not been able to come up with anything. Thanks.
Lynn
I am no Becky, but 4months is better than NONE! I am so excited to do project life this year, but to be honest I am horrible at follow through. I have given myself permission to fall on and off the photo a day wagon. I just want an easier way to document the daily moments so that I have time to do other types of projects and still feel I am capturing the stories my children will cherish forever! Good Luck and Happy New Year!
Hi Becky
I am a ‘newbie’ to your blog. I have ABSOLUTELY loved your 12 days of Christmas videos. You provided me inspiration, etc. Also….I am just about to order the PL for 2011. I love reading about how you and others use it. As a full-time working mom, not sure that I will be able to capture that daily picture, but I plan to keep my journal cards in my purse, desk, car – so when I have a few moments, I will capture that daily memory. With three kids, I am a little behind with their baby books/scrapbooks. This will force me to become organized. Thanks again – keep up the great work in 2011 and so looking forward to your blogs!!!! Happy New Year! P.S. your home, family and you are beautiful!
This past Christmas Day my 5yo son experienced a completely unexpected medical emergency and went from being a healthy 5yo to fighting for his life before he could even open one Christmas gift. We are still at a Children’s hospital (I’m here visiting at 2am’ish) – he’s in critical but stable condition – and I wanted to tell you two things (yes, I do have a point): 1) Your blog has helped to maintain some ‘normalcy’ in my life. I only get to the computer 2-3x/day for very brief periods, maybe 5-10 minutes, but yours is one of the three sites that I’m sure to visit, and 2) Project Life, once I get around to ordering!!, is going to take on a whole new meaning for us this year. This is the year that my son fought his biggest fight AND WON. This will be the year of his recovery and I’m very excited that we will be able to show him every step – every leap – that he’s going to take along the way! <3 HAPPY NEW YEAR to you, your family and fellow blog readers. Every day truly is precious. <3
Poor little guy, your family is in my prayers. Your project life this year will be a treasure for your son as he grows up & what a terriffic way to show him just how strong he is.
I’ve decided to do Project Life a bit differently this year. My kids are pretty much grown and I live out on a farm far from town, and last year I got pretty tired of pictures of goats, cows, dogs and my husband. But I LOVE the concept! So this year I’m going through my MILLIONS of pictures, knowing that I’ll never scrap them all, and I’ll pick out a random photo a day and write about it. That way I’ll have 365 wonderful stories that might otherwise never been told.
What a cool idea! I think this will be great for days I miss taking a photo (I am sure there will be more than a few…lol).
What an awesome idea!
What an excellent idea!!! I can think of so many ways to do this. . . oh my, off to plan.
I want to take the time to thank you and offer encouragement to your customers who have purchased your kits and (like me) fell woefully behind.
Yesterday, while my kids were happily occupied I took the time to play catch up with my Project Life and….errr….uhemm….gulp… Project 365. I ordered prints online, took a separate disk up to Walgreens and ordered prints and came home and inserted them in my albums. Wow! The thing I had been putting off because of time constraints and just plain guilt and shame was so much easier than expected. The payoff???? way beyond my wildest imaginings. My kids went wild with excitement looking at the pages, the moments I had forgotten already were there in front of me and the album didn’t have to be done perfectly (a picture for every single day) to do what it was intended to do – show our daily life.
I suffer from tremendous mom guilt at times (maybe we all do). I feel that my second child hasn’t gotten the attention, the “one on one with mom moments”, and all the other benefits that my first child received (how could she when there are two, but there’s that mom guilt). I have convinced myself that I missed so much with her. But there on the pages of my album I see proof of all those things i had convinced myself I hadn’t been able to do and I see all those things I have already forgotten.
Sometimes I hesitate to pull out the camera, I don’t want to run back inside, run upstairs or lug it along with us. But more often than not I do and it is SOOO WORTH IT to see those pics now. So today, the day my 2011 Project Life is set to arrive, I am ready to jump right in…stay caught up…and see what happens in our daily life in the coming year. And with a niece getting married this year and one expecting her first baby I will be ordering two more kits…I don’t want them to let those first year moments slip away!
My advice for the woefully behind:
1) It’s not too late to catch up! With digital photos the dates are readily available to help you in your organization.
2) If you missed a day here or there (or even several days) that’s OK.
– Use multiple photos from one day and spread them out over a few days or week.
– Use the small journaling spaces for cropped photos or split photos and use the larger spaces reserved for photos for journaling.
– Let go of “perfect” and realize that some weeks can include a picture a day and other weeks may use one day’s pictures or keepsakes.
– There is nothing wrong with “filler” photos. Take photos of places you go, home decor, your mailman, garbage collector, neighbor, unfinished project, favorite show on TV…you name it… and pop it into a vacant photo slot – chances are those people or things are part of every week of your life…not just the one with a missing photo. You can always go online and look up a date to print out a news headline, blurb or photo that depicts what was happening on that “day in history”.
Hope I helped at least one person who might be behind. Becky – add my words of thanks to the chorus of people singing the praises of this awesome tool for documenting our lives. Like many, I can think of so many seasons of my life that I wish I would have had something like this to help me document what was happening.
Happy New Year.
Jill, Aurora, IL
LOL Jill see post below yours, I typed it in before I read yours and wow your are right on track with how I have been feeling too. I think I have wayyyy more photos in the second half of 2010 because I let myself crop thos photos and used the journaling spaces for pictures. Basically my approach to PL this year will be MAKE IT WORK and SIMPLIFY. Thanks for confirming what I was thinking Donna
Hi Becky I just wanted to tell you of my “light bulb moment”, I fell about 6 months behind in Project Life. It just seemed to be to much for me to keep organized, I ordered and have recieved both new kits, but before I would let myself dig in to those kits I made myself finish 2010 PL album, now to my point, I was being wayyy to picky, pics had to be of the exact day, arrows, stamp, day stickers all had to be in place, journaling way to detailed. Now for the last 6 months I have let go of the perfectionistic (not sure if thats a word) ways and voila I am almost caught up with 2010 PL only Nov and Dec to go and seeing they are the most recent they should be a piece of cake. Project Life is truely a do it your way get the job done sort of scrapbooking. LOL it only took me a YEAR to figure that out. Thank you so much for all you do to inspire and simplify this awesome hobby we call SCRAPBOOKING. Donna
Thank you and I’m looking to add some of your ideas as I capture our LIFE!
Just wanted to give a little tip on Amazon shipping for free! Amazon Prime is free shipping on any price in 2 days. That’s how I got my Project Life. They have a free trial right now and no auto renewal. Just click no! Or Amazon Mom has it included in their membership as well which is free.
Then you can order the journaling cards and extra protectors for free without the $25.00 limit! That’s what I’m doing!
Just wanted to pass it along!
[...] « thank you. [...]
Planning on doing the same thing this year as I did with my PL albums last year (books for my kids). LOVE that there is a boy version and a girl version. Thanks again Becky!!!
