When I announced on Tuesday that I was giving away a set of 40 handmade cards to someone, I didn’t expect nearly 600 entries, most of which were on behalf of a wonderful cause. I am deeply touched with how involved and concerned you are with various organizations and fundraisers that bless individuals and families.
For those of you directly involved causes in any way, bless you. My heart is always warmed to see people reaching out to help one another. Serving others results in an unmatchable feeling and increased love. There is most definitely a need for this now more than ever. We need to continually lift one another, build each other up, and look for ways to serve others. Always.
Life is too precious, too short for negativity. May we resist urges to criticize, gossip, belittle, and assume things about people too quickly. Instead may we continually seek to do good and speak kindly about one another. I already knew my readers were awesome. It is now even more clear to me how good you are. I love you for that.
……….
So who is getting those 40 cards? Let me just say it’s a good thing I wasn’t choosing based on who “should” get them, because there were far too many wonderful causes. So … congratulations to Amy Sorden, who was randomly selected.
Amy said: I would love to win these BEAUTIFUL cards ! I have the perfect place for them….you see, there is a 5 year old little girl in our community that was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Her name is Aly and we are having an all day breakfast, lunch, and supper benefit for her, along with a bidding auction and a silent auction. We are trying to raise funds for her family as they have to travel for her medical needs, let alone all of her medical bills that have piled up. This is a very sweet family with 5 children who needs our community support. I think these cards would and could bring in some money for a great cause! Please pray for little Aly! She IS a fighter! Thank you in advance for your consideration!
Amy, I will pray for Aly. With close friends and family members that have had Leukemia, we too have been affected by this. I will happily send you these cards for your efforts in helping Aly’s family raise money. Send an email to projectlife@beckyhiggins.com with your mailing address and I’ll hook you up!

Congratulations, Amy! My 7 year old daughter is a Leukemia (A.L.L.) survivor. We’ll keep sweet Aly in our thoughts and prayers.
Congrats to Amy!
Thank you Becky for your generosity!
Becky, I would love to donate 40 cards…I have them ready to go, and can mail them to one of your wonderful readers. To see some of them, I posted lots of pictures on my blog. http://Www.stampwithronda.type pad.com. Sending a homemade card just brightens someone’s day. Just let me know. Rondo@stampwithronda.com
Congrats Amy, I hope you make a lot for Aly, I will be praying for hero.
i hardly ever comment, this story lead me to, had to say ditto about everything you said Becky and Amy you are an angel to aly and her family, made me feel overjoyed to read this post today!
My prayers go out to little Aly and here family. This giveaway has inspired me to create 40 cards to send to the folks at Operation Write Home. I learned about this organization reading the comments on this blog and I feel that this is the least I can do for those bravely serving our country.
That’s great! Congrats Amy! I hope y’all pull in a lot of money to help her out! <3
Congrats Amy!! That is a wonderful reason to get these cards!! Prayers for Aly and her family.
many prayers and blessings as these cards will help immensely for Aly and her family
Congratulations Amy!
Now, here is another way we as your loyal followers should pay it forward!
Amy should allow us in on the auction for the cards…I bet some readers out here in Becky Blog land would cough up a nice donation towards such a worthy auction to benefit little Aly and her family.
Just an idea…
So happy such a great cause will receive the cards.
PS – I forgot to add – I have a special place in my heart for those families who are faced with huge medical costs for their children. One of our twin sons was born with a kidney ailment that forces us to travel to a bigger centre for treatment with a specialist. All I can say is that the costs are unreal and sadly, most insurance doesn’t cover much. I can only imagine the financial burden they are facing.
Sending blessings to Aly and her family…
With many blessing to a successful fundraiser for Amy. You will always be in our prayers!
Congratulations Amy!
I am glad you won for little Aly. I was just going to say the same as Steph…if you let all of the”Becky fans” on here know about the auction I am sure you will raise a lot for litttle Aly and her family. I sure hope so. God bless you as you care for her and her family.
Congrats Amy, and what a wonderful cause. I hope Aly does well, hugs to her and her family.
So nice…wishing the best Amy for that little gal…my heart aches!!! Thanks Becky for thinking of such a neat thing to do with your cards. Ahhhhhh loving this blog:)
I noticed in your post a few days ago that you threw out your old Christmas cards.
A couple of ideas for those leftover Christmas cards in the coming years:
1) I’ve punched out circles from the designs I liked or friends’ and family members’ photos for my
December Daily album and create simple 3 photo by 4 photo layouts from them.
2) Instead of throwing away old Christmas cards, you can recycle the card fronts and help a good
cause by sending them to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children where the children re-use them by
creating brand new cards to sell.

Becky,
This is unrelated to this post.
I am wondering what kind of pens you have used, or currently use, in scrapbooking and card-making. I have used a few different archival safe pens, but haven’t been convinced that one is better than another. Do you have anything you love?
Thanks.
Sarah
Becky,
You picked a perfect winner! After reading, I was wondering if there was some way we could donate $$$ to Aly’s cause? Imagine how much money this family could raise if we each put a few dollars in a card and sent them to Aly.
Just a thought.
Awesome—I hope they bring in alot of money in the auction. Best of luck to Amy and prayers for Aly.
Dear Becky and fellow bloggers,
Thank you so much for your generosity! I have followed your blog for a long time and have enjoyed your creativity, tips, and recipes, and seeing your family grow! I was so excited to see that you selected me for your cards! I know they will be a great addition to our auction. You have no idea what this means to me! You have the best blog followers……..You and your readers astound me with the sheer amount of hope and humanity presented here on your website. I would like to post the website for Aly so that everyone can read her story and keep her in everyone’s prayers. Here is the link to her story: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/alyssaschuetz/journal Words can’t explain how good this makes me feel, knowing what a difference this will make to Aly and her family having so many more people praying for her! THANK YOU SO MUCH………Amy Sorden
