I love knowing that many of you have taken your camera to work with you. I love knowing that many of you have followed your spouse, sibling, parent, or friend to work to document that corner of their world.
Here are the results of the WORK Photo Challenge — my personal favorite dozen submissions. Bakers Dozen, that is.
…

…
Photo by Deirdre in Moab, Utah. This is her husband Brian who runs the fuels program for the BLM in southeastern Utah. Deirdre says, “Our boys normally just see him working at his desk when they visit him at work. When he fights wildfires in the summer, they obviously don’t see it and there isn’t time for photos. This time of year he directs control burns so the wildfires in the summer won’t burn as hot or big.”

Amazing shots. My favorite is the horse shoe hands!
I love all of them! Esp. the farming one!
These are all great! The photo of the hands TOOK. MY. BREATH. AWAY. Amazing.
Wow–those hands! What a lot of hard work they have seen. That photo moved me to tears. It is very powerful!
These are fabulous-I love the one in the grocery store and the amazing hands….
LOVE the hands!!
Amazing shots! That looks almost as bad as my laundry pile…
These shots are absolutely stunning. I love how they all tell such wonderful stories.
LOVE them all!!
I love so many of these but my favourite may be the one of the child watching the tractor.
Hands ALWAYS make a great picture. I remember when Becky did a layout about her hands in CK a while back, it was awesome. I remember my late grandfather’s hands and wish I had a picture. I will absolutely take a picture of my mother’s hands this week. Thanks for the inspiration!
I was going to try and pick a favorite… I just can’t. I love them all! But oh those hands… wow!
Awesome photos! Makes me want to go take pictures of my hubby working
What great pictures!! So inspiring!!
Love these pictures. They are great!!
Love these! Very inspiring. I need to take a picture of my office
Wow, that is a lot of fun to see all the different work environments!
Those hands are amazing! A lifetime of work all right there.
wow, those hands!! and the little boy watching his Dad in the field, great pics. Something in every one…every picture really does have a story to tell, and each picture here speaks volumes.
These are all amazing shots, I LOVE the hands! I would have never thought to take a picture of those!
Amazing pictures! My favourite one is the gorgeous pic of horse shoe maker’s hands.
Love the hands! What a life story right there.
My fav? the shoer’s hands and the little boy at the farm watching Daddy work. Awesome.
Ha! My 6 yr old just walked by and saw the last photo of laundry and said “Hey, is that our couch?” Incredible photos. Thanks to everyone for sharing!
wow love the farming picture.. tugged at my heart
Lynley!! Lol awesome….I remember when my lounge looked like this!! Love it!!
I think the winner should be the black and white shot of the hands!!!! amazing!
wow what a great variety – tho i have to say – those hands were BREATH TAKING – thanks for sharing. made me think too, i taught for about 10 years ( im a SAHM at the mo) and i have very few photos of me teaching – such a shame as it’s such a HUGE part of my life and who i am and what i did for 10 hours a day for years …. umm have to take more photos …. cheers
Great photos – but love the hands, now wow, they tell a story or two. They look like they belong to someone with a big heart.
My favorite was the little boy on the farm. Took my breath away. I grew up on a farm, so this photos speaks volumes to me. My work now is pretty boring compared to all these exciting professions. I’m an office manager in a law firm and I wracked my brain for a week to find something interesting to photograph at work, but nobody wants to see a stack of law books. Booo-ring! Kudos to all these wonderful photographers (and their wonderful subjects) and thank you Becky SO MUCH for sharing! What a great inspiration! I can’t wait for the next photo challenge!
Yay—thanks for including our photo (the control burn)…my sons loved seeing in this context of what other people do for a living.
We agree–the photo of a hard-worker’s hands is AMAZING! Also loved the one in the science lab, love seeing the ordinary that is so very rarely captured.
So enjoyed the great variety of “work” that’s showcased here. Absolutely LOVED the photo of the blacksmith’s hands–it touched my heart and just spoke to me! Also enjoyed seeing the photo from the UCDavis lab (it’s nearby we’ve had animals treated at their vet school). And I learned something new, too; had to look up “perfunctionist”–what an interesting and vital job that is! Thanks to everyone who shared, and thanks for the jobs you do.
Oh heck! That last post should have said “perfusionist”! LOL!
Have to look-up “perfusionist!!” Loved them all.
Stunning photos!
Thanks to all for sharing!
Wow, these are all great photos. I loved the black and white photo of the horse shoer.
I agree! WOW! These are all wonderful. Love them ALL. Aren’t we blessed to have people serving in
all these capacities to take care of our food, our health, our needs.
Love them all, especially the grocery store one since I am a Columbia, MO resident also. The ones of the hands is amazing. The stories those hands could tell.
My niece-in-law took that photo of the hands so I am a bit prejudiced but it was AMAZING. The photo fo the little boy watching his dad in the corn was priceless.
thanks for this challenge and sharing the results. All such fabulous and inspiring photos. I went back on your blog to dig out the link for this to send to a friend and realized that you didn’t have it categorized with ‘photography’ – would be great if you could add that category to this post to make it easier to find again in the future.
