behind the scenes of making a video

In case you’re brand-new to my site or just joining us here after a little slumber, be sure to check out the VIDEOS section of my website.

I’ve done a handful of videos. But that main featured video? Never have I put so much heart & soul into one piece. I so want to help people document life. I so want you to embrace the life that is yours. And should you feel inclined to record that life, Project Life is one option. I explain more about this philosophy in the video.

I just wanted mention that the person who put even more hours into this project than me is my brother Andrew (left). He recently visited us, along with another equally-handsome and equally-talented brother Kevin (right), a.k.a. the “techie” one.

This lovely scenery, with the Designated Smoking Area sign, is at the airport.

Andrew worked his magic, did his thing, and I am truly grateful to have collaborated with him on the project. Many of you also know he’s my web guy, making all magical web things happen here on my website. When I say “I love my web guy”, I really, truly mean it. I have pretty awesome brothers. And since there are five of them altogether, I’m only scratching the surface here.

Does this look complicated or what? Andrew took this screenshot at one point while editing.

…..

I also wanted to send a very special thank-you to two fellow Project Lifers who allowed me to share their fantastic layouts in the video. Many, many thanks to Michelle Wooderson …

And Deb Duty …

I am also grateful to the lovely Kyra (our niece), the always darling Grieser family, and my own family who make appearances in the video.

And while I’m thanking special people … thanks to my Mom & Dad who, without ever formally teaching me, somehow instilled in me a love for taking pictures and documenting life.

Thank you, dear readers, for being so awesomely & continually supportive. I’m so grateful you love using Project Life to document your world and your happenings and your blessings. Even those of you haven’t jumped on the PL Bandwagon, thank you for stopping by and hanging out here once in a while.

And I’d like to thank the Academy …

Sheesh! Anyone else feel like we’re at the Oscars with this speech? Didn’t mean to get all mushy. Just constantly feeling blessed for being surrounded by so many truly terrific people.

…..

One last note: Since I posted the video about digital Project Life ideas, you have raised some great questions about “particulars”. I plan to address those next week. And therefore … we’re extending the current 25% off sale that’s going on right now so that you’ll have more time to play after I answer those questions. The sale will now go through April 3rd!

Here is the Project Life transcript for the video, for those who are not able to hear it.

I just finished watching yesterdays post and commented there too! I was thinking, yesterday’s video would be an awesome addition to the Project Life Kits, I know a few people I gave them too would have liked seeing your perspective first hand!

As a P. Lifer since Jan 1, I believe in you!! Loved the video…very heartfelt.
However, I am SHOCKED that a public area (airport) has a designated space for smoking!?? What?!!
We in New England have not allowed public smoking for years and years!

  3. Tracy Lee says:

LOVE the video and the ideas to include a DVD of it in the kits. That would be really helpful especially when giving it as a gift to someone that might not be familiar with the concept.

I have a product idea/suggestion. I LOVE how others are making custom page protectors for their albums to hold additional pix, ephemera, and other memorabilia. I don’t own a sewing machine nor do I have the time to make custom page protectors – so how about carrying some? I’d love to see multiple sizes in a multipack!! I’d be all over buying them from you.

  4. Gloria H says:

You look like each of your brothers, but when looking at both of them, they don’t look alike. You are the mesh of both.

I have a “fashion” question for you. I notice that you often wear tanks and camis under your cute tshirts. I have also noticed that your tanks and camis come up higher than most on the market. Do you order yours from a company that specializes in “modest” clothing? I ask because one of my biggest problems is finding tanks and camis that come high enough. Just thought I’d ask.

Just received my PL kit via Amazon last Saturday. Already feel the freedom this kit has provided. Gone is the guilt and the fear of not knowing how to begin! You guys nailed it with this latest video. Thanks a gazillion, Becky! Thank you so much!

  7. Alicia says:

Since it looks like you will be answering questions. Where did you get your kitchen / office chairs – white with the scolly backs. Love them!

  8. Dinah says:

Wow Becky… this video inspired and touched me with 1000 nods of agreement for all you were saying. Your Mum and Dad did a great job with you kids… all so ‘pretty’ and talented too!!

Keep the vids coming… as I for one, love them!

I have decided -today- that I am going to make my own Project Life kit, as in South Africa, we are not able to order them and none of the Scrapbooking shops here, stock them :-( So….I am going to make the pages in advance, that I can then just stick my photos onto. I am also going to theme it, like you have. Very excited now!! And when PL finally gets to SA, I will be one of the first to buy it :-)

Hi Becky – I have a question about your camera. I notice that you have a nikon and it has video capability, which means it is one of the newer models. I am looking to upgrade my Nickon d40x. What model do you have, and do you like it?
PS. I love your work. You are such an inspiration. I have both your creative sketches books and would LOVE to see another one…..

  13. Carrie Lou says:

Does your brother websites for anyone else? I would be interested.
