{ you’re super }
Let me first say … you guys rock. We love our customers. Asking you yesterday to tell me what you want to see in the next round of Project Life? Inspiring. Part of that is due to the fact that most of what you shared and suggested? It’s already in the bag. We’re already down that road and making changes & improvements in those directions. Score. Love when minds seem to be in sync. Thank you for confirming what we felt were good ideas.
And then of course, there were several wonderful suggestions that we hadn’t thought about. There you go again — inspiring us. I care a lot about simplifying the process of documenting life for anyone & everyone who has an interest. You already know that. But after reading every single comment and poring over your feedback, I am even more aware of how Project Life is helping you. And we’re even more committed to continually improving the product that we offer. Thank you for your input. And your support. And your awesomeness.
……..
{ moving forward }
Guess what we’re going to do for the 2012 round of Project Life? We’re opening this up to other designers! We invite you (or a designer friend of yours) to enter our Design Contest! How fun is that!? If you know Illustrator and you think you’ve got the next greatest idea for how Project Life should look … and you think $1,000 sounds like a fun prize … well, get to work my friend. You’ve got a couple weeks to submit your design ideas. All the details are outlined in this page.
*** UPDATE ***
The deadline has been extended and you now have until Friday 5/13 to submit your designs.
*** Click HERE to download the Illustrator template. ***
Anyone can enter, as long as you know what you’re doing in Illustrator and follow the rules. This is open to designers in any country. This is open to people I know (even personal friends & family) and people I’ve never heard of. This is open to seasoned designers and those still studying the subject. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live, or what your style … we want to see what you’ll come up with.
The winner(s) will be chosen based on which designs we like best and think mass amounts of people will like best. Period.
PS – If you’re new to my site/brand/product and you want to familiarize yourself with the 2011 Project Life, you can check out those designs here.

OMG OMG OMG… this is gonna rock, I can feel it!! I just hope the final outcome will have more than 2 design options!!! I love options!
How cool is that? I hope some of my favorite designers will get in on this—I’m sure it’s going to be exciting to see what comes in! I don’t do Illustrator, so I’m out, but I do look forward to seeing what they do!
omg omg omg can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask Ali Edwards to do this?!!! That is my all time wanna have, the dream team of Becky and Ali working together on Project Life!! Oh Ali, please please please do this!!!
I just posted the link on Ali’s FB page, saying the same thing. I think it would rock if they teamed up together.
It would be awesome to see a Stacy Julian design for Project Life too…
My thoughts exactly!!! IMAGINE if they both designed one…how would you ever decide!!
I think Ali might require more than $1k for that….
Is it too late to add a suggestion? It was probably already suggested, but my biggest wish is that the journaling pockets be on the front and the back of the page. I love using the larger journaling cards with the tabs but I feel like I can only do it when the picture falls on the right hand side of the page. I will say though that I love the fact that you made the additional journaling cards available. Now, I don’t have to be so worried if I mess up a card or two.
I sort of get what you mean… I think? As in you mean have opening slits on both front and back sides of the page protector for the journaling cards to slot into… so the tabs (on the bi-fold journaling cards) fall on the “correct” side?
It would make it heaps easier when you were putting the album together also… I am always flipping back and forth.
Sounds like fun! Choices are nice. Can you have the option for us to customize the binder?
Can’t wait to see what people come up with.
I am not a designer but I have thought multiple times how cool a “baby” project life would be! I don’t have kids but when I do it would be so nice to have a simplified way of documenting each day of their first year…maybe pastel colors?
I was just thinking the same thing. I envisioned pink and blue and yellow and green and purple…It would make a great shower gift!
My sil is using the Amber for a baby book…it is going to be beautiful!
any chance the template can be provided for PC too and not just MAC?
Awesome Becky! I think Cathy Zielske should design one. She is amazing. I love her clean and simple style.
oh designers only…..mmmm i dont know how to use that programme even if i did want a go!!!
but i have LOTS of ideas!!! oh well!!!
maybe you will open to your readers too (no prize needed)…..especially since we use the product!!
and i agree….ali edwards have the BEST ideas!!! ask her!!!
Great idea. I can’t wait to see what people come up with. Hopefully we get a couple of sneak peaks!
Becky, I LOVE that you are looking for feedback and willing to take it on your product! but this is SO cool!!! wish i had illustrator and any ability to design – i have a ton of “you should” ideas. easy for me to say, i know.
did you see ali’s blog today? the freebie on happy spring and easter? i think those types of things would be perfect for project life. good luck to everyone submitting and to becky, who has to choose :O)
How I’d love someone to come up with a travel album! (in 8×8 with maybe less pages!) Anyone?
Thanks for the opportunity. Just sent emails to my favorite designers, too. Blessings.
I’m thrilled you’ve opened this up to ALL designers. I am definitely going to be submitting ideas for the next PL and I am so excited to do so!!!! Illustrator and I are BFFs
Becky – LOVE That you are opening this up…but I LOVE the designs you have done so I know whatever final decision(s) you make the product is going to be AWESOME!

Now that is a dream team..
I can only draw stick people.. they are really really good stick people though
Awesome idea, can’t wait to see the end results
Cheers,
Jan

Hi Becky
Could you please tell us what version of Illustrator you would prefer the projects be submitted in? I don’t want to chance sending it in CS5 if you have CS4 or CS3 because you wont be able to open it and that wouldn’t be any fun!
Thanks so much for the opportunity!
Maureen
I’m not a designer either, but would love some pages for extra photos / journalling. Sometimes I want / need to tell a bigger story for special events / birthdays etc and to add more than one photo. I know Ali Edwards adds extra pages and that is what I need / am thinking of.
I submitted my design concept, but I am just concerned that it makes it to you! I didn’t receive a confirmation email. Could you let me know if it was received or send a confirmation? Thank you.
That would be an AWESOME Mother’s Day gift to receive.
Darn, I found out about this too late. It’s not a lot of pay for 17+ pieces, but it would sure look good in a portfolio. Wish the deadline was more than 2 days away.
I would looove for Project Life to be available in South Africa. I want to start “project lifing” but can’t get the kit here in South Africa. Amazon won’t ship it either
(
Oh how exciting! Sad I missed this! Can’t wait to see the winning designs.
Just wondering when a winner will be posted!!!! I submitted my designs, but never received a confirmation
I realllllly hope you got my concept!
Can’t wait to hear!
