what you can expect from me this summer.

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Expectations have so much to do with our life experience, wouldn’t you agree? If you expect that your husband will be home in time for dinner but things run long at the office, you are likely disappointed that he is late getting home. If you know that your child struggles with her swimming strokes but then she gets 2nd place in the swim meet you feel like throwing a party because you didn’t expect that.

Most of you have expectations of me … even if you haven’t thought of it that way. I’m totally generalizing here and I know it’s not exactly like this for every single one of you because you’re each very unique. That said, I think it’s safe to say that most of you expect that I will have 4-5 blog posts each week. You expect that I will post several ideas, finds, and anecdotes on facebook + twitter every weekday. You expect that I’m pretty quiet on the weekends. You expect that I will share a { POTD Idea } every weekday as well. Some of you expect that if you post a question on facebook or twitter or in the comments of a blog post that there’s a pretty good chance I will answer your question.

You’ve developed these expectations because … it’s pretty accurate. That’s all pretty much how I’ve been rolling.

Now it is Summer. Summer is unique because the kiddos are not in school, we travel more, and while I still maintain routines as best as I can in the Summer, there is a considerable amount of inconsistency. This is what you can expect from me this Summer:

Inconsistent blogging. I will continue sharing thoughtful ideas, projects, updates, and inspiration on my blog. Some weeks I may have just 1-2 posts. Some weeks there may be 4-5. Overall, there will probably be a little less blogging than you’re used to.

Inconsistency with facebook + twitter. Same thing. Some days I’ll be on fire. Maybe 6-8 updates. And some days you’ll be lucky to see me post a { POTD Idea }.

Product updates. I have always believed that being upfront, honest, and transparent with my customers is important. That’s why I give more product updates than most companies would dare consider. You want to know stuff. So I’m going to share. And nothing is changing about that. As soon as I have more information about what’s coming and when it’s coming, I’ll share as much information and as many sneak peeks as I can.

Your general/random questions. I receive more questions on facebook + twitter + here on my blog + via email than I can keep up with. Let’s put it this way: The more time I take to answer questions, the less time I am working on product design for items that are coming out this year. Which means the process will be delayed and ultimately, you’ll be frustrated if products aren’t being released when you’re expecting that they’ll be released. So … I want to answer your questions. I really do. I love to help. But I have to stay focused, especially for the next little while, on some hard-core design work. Trust me, this will benefit you.

Your customer service questions. Christy is our Customer Service champion and is wonderful with questions regarding your orders. She does a great job keeping up with customerservice@beckyhiggins.com emails. If you don’t hear back within an hour or a day, please know that she too has Summer Inconsistency. Your questions are important and it’s a priority to help our customers as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Please know that we will do our very best.

…..

On a final note for today, I know I might sound like a broken record when I say this (most recently in my 1,000th blog post video) but … thank you. I am grateful you are here. I am grateful for your trust. I am grateful for your enthusiasm about my work, my blog, and my products. You are why I do what I do.

Happy Summer! And Happy Winter to those of you south of the equator.  ; )
