I love you because …

Congrats to the winner of Thursday’s giveaway: Karen in St. John’s, Arizona! She said “I would love to do t-shirts for family and friends to support my sister in Paralympic competition!” What a great idea, Karen. Shoot an email to Ricky@tamboink.com and they’ll hook you up with $50 toward your custom t-shirt order.

……….

Remember the Kiki Creates giveaway I did back in March? I said, “Check out this print. It’s fill-in-the-blank style and you write on the glass with dry-erase marker and change it as often as you want. I’m so getting this for each of my kids.”

Well I so did. I got 3 prints, put them in these frames from Target, attached them to the wall (with our favorite velcro) — the wall we see as we come in from the garage. And there is a dry-erase marker resting on top of the top frame for our convenience. Our little messages can change within a matter of seconds. Any time we feel like it.

I love that this is now the first thing the kids see as they walk in the door each day. Just another fun way to help our kids feel loved and special. And I love that this little project helps us to focus on the specifics of what we love about them. Sometimes it’s silly and light-hearted. Other times it’s more thoughtful and sincere. That’s the fun in rotating the sentiments frequently.

You can find Kiki’s latest designs in her super cute etsy shop. Plus, she has a wonderfully patriotic (and free) downloadable print here.

I really like this idea. I want one for myself to help remind myself why I am special and loved, that daily reminder as Mumford & Sons sing “Where you invest your love, you invest your life”

I know this might be a weird question, but I was wondering if you could tell me the paint color on your walls. We are painting our basement and have been looking for a while for the “right” color. I really love yours. Thank you!

From a previous post… the neutral grey paint on our walls is called Castle Path by Behr brand at Home Depot

Pinned it!! Totally going to get these at some point. I love that you put them by the door so it’s the first thing your children see. It’s so important to make them feel loved. Thanks for the idea!

    Becky,

Thank you so much for posting these again : )

I fell in love the last time you mentioned them, but life got busy, and to be totally honest I forgot about them. I just left kiki’s etsy site where I ordered four of these lovelies. Thanks for the reminder. I love using positive reinforcement to let the family know how much I (heart) them, and this is the perfect reminder for them every day. There is something so “permanent” when you use your words and put these attributes in writing, and I truly believe it helps those littles gain the self confidence we all desire and need.

    Hugs to you Becky,

    Jen

Off the subject.. but looking at your Wall photos on facebook and also saw a while back on one of your posts… can you tell me the manufacturer of the white chairs in your office and kitchen? Love them… Thanks so much

These are so gorgeous, I just wish they said something a little different. I think it could send the wrong message: that we only love our kids because of some task, etc. Really, we love our kids unconditionally, with or without a new haircut, with or without them clearing their own dishes. We love them because they are our kids. We don’t ever want our children to think they have to perform to earn our love.

Not that we shouldn’t take every opportunity to heap affection on our kids.

Not trying to be a downer, they are beautiful and I love the concept! Again, just wishing it was worded a little differently. I can’t be the only one thinking this. :)

    • Jennifer says:

I guess you just need a disclaimer at the end of yours saying “that’s not the only reason I love you”, but I would hope that your children already know that.

I think the point of this is not to tell kids the only reason that they are loved, but to give them daily reminders of why they are so special.

      Just my opinion.

    • Sheryll, I was thinking the same thing. I made one for my husband last year to hang in our bedroom that says, “I love When you/How you…” and this has inspired me to make one for each of my kids. I love how bright and cheery these look.

Here’s the one made. Scroll to about 1/2 way down the page.

I had the exact same thought when I saw this on Pinterest, so I came to the website to see if anyone thought the same thing. If it said something like, “I’m proud of you today because…” or “I love you you…” I think it would be perfect. Children are very impressionable and they might not understand that you don’t need a reason to love them.

    I give you a 10 for execution. : ) So perfect.

And THANK YOU Kiki for that perfect 4th printable for my mini frame!

  23. HEBERT LOGERIE says:

    I Love You Because…

    I love you because
    Of your long frog toes,
    Your strong and gentle body,
    Your great personality,
    Your angelic smile,
    Your classic style,
    Your determination to succeed,
    Your ability to lead,
    Your soft and spongy mouth
    And your contagious laugh.
The attributes that I don’t like
    About you are not important
I only focus on what’s relevant
And not on the petty peas that I dislike.
I recognize that you are not perfect
However, I can attest that you are correct.

I love you for other unbeknown reasons,
    For being all year long
    My spring and summer seasons,
    And for playing my song,
When I am not too happy,
    About the ups and downs
    Of the daily peripeties.
    I purchased two crowns
To revere two of your best qualities:
    Your modesty and your honesty.
Thank you for being my flashlight,
I hope that you are at peace tonight.
