tortilla love

I know. Random topic. But food comes up on my blog once in a while, and most of you know that.

We have a thing for uncooked tortillas, and have been using them for as long as I can remember. We don’t even buy regular tortillas, like … ever. Side note: Tortilla Land just had a recent facelift and I think it looks great. It’s always fun when a company goes through a re-design. Look for these at your local grocery store or Costco or Sam’s Club (in the refrigerated section) because I don’t think the store locator on their website is up-to-date.

If you’ve never tried uncooked tortillas, it’s so different than the package of already-cooked tortillas in a bag. The taste is more fresh because you’re … well, cooking them fresh. And by “cooking” I mean … putting them in a pan and flipping it over for a couple minutes. That’s it. No need to add anything else.

Wanna know the ingredients for these little beauties? Wheat Flour, Water, Canola Oil, Salt, Sugar. That’s all.

This is the warmer/container we use for our tortillas, as we cook them in preparation for a meal. Just keep the lid on and the tortillas stay warm.

We use the tortillas mostly for Breakfast Burritos – our favorite, easy, go-to weekend breakfast.

Load each tortilla with eggs, sausage, and cheese.

Oh, for the love of yum. Very simple. Very good.

  2. Becky….but even better is to make your own, from scratch FRESH, Baked tortillas! :) Should come over and have some sometime. I would even make you some to take home!

I’ve never even heard of uncooked tortillas, but I will be looking for them at Costco! They sound delicious.

These are a favorite at our house, too! My boys love them cooked and then we add a tiny bit of butter, honey and cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top. Roll it up and enjoy!

We love raw tortillas at our home too! Served with chicken salsa (just dice some frozen chicken and cook in the salsa), cheese, and sour cream, we also like to broil them until golden brown and bubbly. Flip and repeat. The kids love poking the bubbles if they get too big :)

Thanks for sharing some quick and yummy meals!

Sounds great! I would love to try them, especially since our youngest has a soy allergy and finding tortillas that are safe for him is just about impossible. No where around here sells them though. Maybe one day they’ll come to our market.

  7. OMG! That looks sooooo good right now!

Then don’t have those in these here parts…nothing within in 500 miles. Sounds fantastic though.

I love your watermarks placements, I feel like it’s a where is Waldo thing.

oh, these are FABULOUS! I used to make mine from scratch, but as soon as I would make them they would be gone! LOVE these because you get two packages in one! we eat them straight, we make bean burritos, we make taquitos, wish everyone would LOVE breakfast burritos like I do! :)

  10. I LOVE those uncooked tortillas — that’s the brand I get too. I buy them in huge packs at Costco. Being born and raised in Phoenix I’ve eaten my fair share of tortillas, but as I got older I realized that the only tortillas I really like are the uncooked kind that you cook fresh. If anyone hasn’t tasted them, you’ve got to give them a try — they are really SO good!

We love these too! I never buy cooked anymore either.

Oh my goodness Becky I just tried these last weekend and I can honestly say that I love them and don’t even want to ones we use to buy any more LOL.

  13. Salsa Mama says:

Oh, these are the BEST! Walmart also carries them. In mine they are by the mexican cheeses. They are cheaper at Costco, but in a pinch I get them there. Still totally worth it! :)

  14. Laura Leppke says:

Once you’ve had those tortillas it totally ruins you on any others. Our Costco went for a few months without them and we had to use the cooked ones — it was hard to go back. Now we always keep a couple in the freezer — they freeze great!

  15. Rebecca Y. says:

I LOVE these…but have the hardest time not grabbing one out of the fridge every 20 minutes, heating it in a pan, and drizzling honey all over it! SO GOOD….but really too tempting for me! ; )

We love them too! Since our closest Costco is 45 minutes away, I just picked some up at WalMart. They’re a bit more expensive there but it works in a pinch.

I am having fun finding your logo on the photos you post! Love the block party shoe photo – the logo tag on the wall, and the photo above with it on the salt shaker!
