This morning I woke up to temperatures in the 70s. The 70s! Since this is still technically Summer … and I technically live in Arizona (a.k.a. the desert) … these temperatures are a little glimpse of heaven. It’s actually dipping below 100 degrees during the peak of the day here. People: There is potential for gloriousness right around the corner.
Do you know what this means?? Fall is really coming! I know I’m not alone when I say: Fall is my FAVORITE.
The best part ever, is that this “Fall Fever” I seem to be catching right now is coming at just the right time. You see, I’m headed to St. Paul, Minnesota this week for The Creative Connection where the high temps are in the 50s and 60s. Are you kidding me? I’m so giddy. Must pack cardigans. And perhaps a scarf?
TCC is a gathering of women with passion and creative talent and ambition and entrepreneurial spirits. I’ve never been, but I love the idea. And since I was invited to participate, I will soon be mingling with these fine people … in cool, Fall weather! I will address about 500 attendees on Thursday during a keynote luncheon panel, along side Stacy Julian of Big Picture Classes and Nora Abousteit of BurdaStyle.
Because of this commitment – and what seems to be a million other things swirling around right now – I will be taking a short “blog break” and you may not see a new post here for several days. So … I’m going to leave you with lots of pretty pictures. Claire (nearly 6 now) urged me to bust out the Fall decorations and she eagerly helped me decorate the other day.
No time for new projects right now. No interest in buying any additional items. Just using what we already have. A little dash of Fall has now been sprinkled over the Higgins home. ; )
The picture of that adorable purple dragon is Porter six years ago – when we lived in Ohio. Makes me smile every time I see it.
This is one of the many free downloads I have in my Free Stuff section. Look for “Home is Comfort” in the sidebar (available in four colors).
Check out the details of making over my little pumpkins in THIS POST.
Last year I blogged the how-to on this pumpkin frame project HERE.
I am a fan of having “older” pictures around the house and incorporated into decor. This picture is 6 years old and still a favorite … plus perfectly fitting for Fall. And these childhood pictures of me & David? They’re a year-round classic in our home. Isn’t David the cutest?
If you’re interested in seeing how we decorated last year (slightly different … always fun to change things up a bit, right?), HERE is that 2010 blog post.

Becky- Where did you get those yummy white dining rm. chairs, and the white frame in the framed piece on the easel that says “Ah, there is nothing…” (Did you spray that or did it come white?) If you sprayed it, I’d love info on how to get a nice gloss on your spray painted pieces? Or is your frame matte. (If you didn’t purchase it white.) I know that you are good at repurposing, but I’m afraid to spray paint. And is your double frame a digital frame (and was it built in or something for sale somewhr.) Love how you decorate. Thx for sharing.
Nah, you won’t need cardi’s or scarves for your trip to Minnesota this week. We’re still wearing our shorts, tees and flip flops. Now if it was January…….well, that’s a whole different story!
OK, I’m inspired to decorate. Now if only the clutter would make itself disappear so I could do so!
Serious cuteness!
I too, decorated for fall the first day of September….I just couldn’t help myself!I love having all of the beautiful vibrant fall colors and earth tones around the house. It makes us all smile, and we really need that lately!
Love Love Love it! Beautiful job. Just one question…. Can you PLEASE do a post on how you store, label, organize and remember all of the fabulous decorations you have??? Mine tend to end up in seasonal tubs in the basement storage room with little hope for seeing the light of day ever again. Please help!
I’m with Angie, please share how you organize and store your decorations. That adorable 3-dimensional pumpkin art piece, for instance… the one with all the little pumpkins glued to a board and displayed on an easel… how do you store that when you’re not displaying it? Thanks, Becky! Love your ideas.
I just got out my fall decorations yesterday!!! Now I’m in the mood to make chili and pumpkin pie!!!
I got my fall decorations out last weekend, too! Love the colors! Autumn is my fave, too. Can’t wait for hoodies and cardigans, either!
I love how you decorated your home and also interested on who makes those amazing, white dining chairs. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful! I especially love the white design on the gray wall. How’d you do that? Did you stencil it? I’m thinking of painting some room gray and I’d love to add a detail like that on top. So neat!
Ahh! Found it. Wallpaper, who would have thought!
maybe your blog break will give me the time to read through all the goodness you’ve been posting about P.L.!! I’m so behind!! as always, thanks for ALL the inspiration and love you pour into your posts!!
Very inspiring! Just recently discovered your site and fb page and love it! Where in Ohio did you live? I live in Cincinnati. Right not I’m wishing I lived near St. Paul MN for the Creative Connection!
Love, love, LOVE all the pumpkins on candlesticks and pedestals. Gorgeous. You’ve inspired me to try that this year. Thanks.
Absolutely gorgeous, your home is just so beautiful Becky! Thanks for sharing and hope you have a great trip!
Love it!! I wish I could go to St. Paul with you. I’m jealous!
Love how you used what you had. I made the pumpkin frame last year. My hectic schedule hasn’t allowed me time to think about fall decorating but now I am inspired. Going to take out the fall decor this weekend.
Where did you get the pilgrims?
Another vote – could you please share how you organize, store, and rotate stuff through without it taking over your life?
Ah Fall my favorite time of the year. I too live in MN and enjoy the change of the seasons with the fall color starting to show. Have fun here in MN -
I love the little snippets of your beautiful home and would LOVE a full tour…pretty please! thanks
Beautiful! Are those digital frames built into your wall? Please give a how to on that! I LOVE the idea!
Where did you get the big wreath?? Love all your home decor. Now I want to do it lol
I love your decorating. I would love to see pictures of your entire rooms (ie-the whole kitchen) as each picture just gives a small glimpse of what the room looks like. Would that be possible?
Everything is so beautiful and classy! Love love love!
I always love your fall decorations best!! I try to wait till Oct.1st to decorate but just seeing yours makes me want to start decorating NOW!! Love all the types of pumpkins you have. Too bad I have very limited space to decorate and now we have a new crawler in the family which makes it even more limited. Thanks so much for sharing and have a great trip.
p.s. FOR THOSE ASKING ABOUT BECKY’S ORGANIZING OF DECORATIONS. I’M PRETTY SURE SHE DID SOME KIND OF POST OR MAYBE IN HER Q/A POST THAT SHE STORES ALL HER STUFF IN THE GARAGE IN CLEAR BINS WITH THEM ALL MARKED. NOT POSITIVE BUT IT SEEMS SHE MENTIONED THIS BEFORE.
You always inspire me and I love Fall. I just received my autumn issue of where Women Create and love seeing more of your work space. Did you happen to get your white bookcase at Ikea or have it made? Also what are the items under your desk? They look a bit like hanging file carts. Your room rocks and is so bright and colorful. Thanks for being so willing to share with all of us. Thank you for being so generous.
We are building and I thought I would like wood floors but husband is afraid they might scratch with the chairs moving around so much….any problems with that?
Wondering where got the pumpkins for your craft project. I went to michels and could’t find them.
Becky, I saw a peek of your yellow frame with the 6 white frames within…please share the dimensions and what sizes the frames are! I have a wall that would be perfect for that:) Thanks so much!!
I love every spec of decorating in your house! I come back and just look from time to time and wish I could get my home to look like that. Where do you get those thick, chunky white ceramic frames?? I LOVE that look and can’t seem to find any.
I have seen the frames at Ross before
I missed the boat on the TCC – totally bummed that I didn’t sign up in time for Friday’s events.
DO pack a light scarf…and a hat if you plan to be outside after dark for any length of time. The weather IS glorious here and you SHOULD miss those pesky mosquitos. Have a grand time!! PS Just across the river there’s a great Sat/Sun breakfast place (not corporate) called Caps, which is also across from Minnehaha Falls park – both are great!!
Love it! Very festive!
I love the way that you have utilized the decorations that you already had to add a feeling of fall to your decor. Using frames with quotes is one of my favorite decorating tricks to add a sense of style and elegance to a room for very little cost. You have inspired me to get out my own fall decorations and accessorize my home for fall.
I just came across your blog today and love that someone else is gearing up for fall in their decor. You’re right that it has been hard to think about fall with the high temperatures that we have been experiencing. I love the blue ceramic items on the table. Are those actually intended to be vases or are they candle holders? Either way, they look beautiful.
Hi Becky! I just wanted to let you know that I used on of your free printables as part of my decorating for Fall. It looks fabulous! Here is the link:

Thank you so much for sharing lots of inspiration and wonderful things on your blog! Have a wonderful Monday! Angie xo
I like the clear glass pumpkin with the small ones inside
Where did you find those?
It frustrating, because I often see questions about those chairs and other things pictured time and time again–that never get answered
I would think it would take just a moment to come in and reply to some of these questions, even if with a link or a quick msg, like a lot of the other bloggers do. (Even if she posted just one reply at the bottom w/ answers.) It is a bummer and why I visit this site a lot less these days.
[...] pumpkin things, this is sadly pretty much the extent of fall decor in my home. I was inspired by Becky Higgins Fall Fest post and I realize I need to get out to the stores to get more [...]
