ScrapFest

For about 10 years of my life, I traveled around the United States (+ a half a dozen other countries) to teach. I have a lot of fond memories meeting thousands of like-minded people who have an interest in getting their pictures and memories preserved, and I am thankful for those experiences.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a scrapbooking convention of any kind. While we were in St. Paul, Minnesota for The Creative Connection two weeks ago (you can see the video here if you missed it), we heard that Archiver’s ScrapFest was going on right there in the next town over. At the Mall of America.

Scrapbookers? Mall of America? Sure!

David and I jumped in a cab and went to check it out, and say hello to some friends who were there. You may see some familiar faces here in the video (links to each of them are below).

Great video! Your hubby is THE. BEST! My hubs, while super supportive, would never in a million years go to A. Mall of America, and B. A scrapbooking convention…the two combined would push him over the top!! Looks like you had fun :-)

What was the name of the printer Amy used. I think I need to have that!! Awesome!!!!

  4. I got over there for a few hours while visiting for TCC. I was so torn because I wanted to be at both places at once! I stood in line at Archiver’s behind Tom Holtz and almost peed my pants. I was afraid he’d remember me as being the dork that shoved my business card in his hand at the Marketplace at TCC (since my business cards are “Tim Holtz inspired!”)

OMG! I’m such a small town girl. I got lost in Mall of America 3 times, and wished I’d dropped breadcrumbs!

  5. Oh my goodness! LOVED having lunch with you… and the hubs!

I have rewound the video a couple of times but I can’t quite catch the name of the printer. My daughter wants the instax camera. She has a good camera so this might be a good compromise. Please help.

Tricia – I haven’t gotten a chance to watch the video yet to see which one Amy mentions. However, on her blog at the beginning of the year, she used the Fujifilm Pivi MP-300 for a travel album.

Jacqueline is right. I think Amy mentioned that she got it off eBay which seems the only place to get it because I have been on the fence on getting this and have done some research. :)

Every time I see these videos and catch a sighting of your hubby, I always think…wow! What a guy to go to all of these events with Becky!! I have a great hubby, too, he just wouldn’t be too jazzed up to go to something like ScrapFest!

  8. Amy Bonner says:

So jealous! You get to hang out with the coolest people! :D

  9. Diana Lewis says:

Becky — Great video! I never thought in a million years that I would have gotten to chat with you, get your autograph, get my picture taken with you AND be in a video on your blog. Color me INSANELY HAPPY!!! After chatting with you, Liz and Amy Tan, I walked away and had to pinch myself… like, did that really just happen??? Of course, when I went to Archiver’s and talked to Kelly Purkey, that was like icing on the cake!

I’m happy to report that I had my Project Life done through May 2010 going into the weekend and after working on it during ScrapFest weekend, I am done through November!!! Woot!

    Becky..
Off the subject but quick question. I used to be able to see your Facebook/Twitter comments on the side of your blog but they have not been there the past few days. I was wondering if this my computer or a change to your blog?
    Thanks!

  16. Can I be your assistant and travel to all these fun places with you? :) You lucky duck!
