What exactly is a Core Kit?

I’m glad you asked!  : )

Okay, so if you’re following the news of what’s coming this Fall … you know we’re no longer offering a full Project Life kit (reasons outlined here). So you probably have heard of the Project Life CORE KIT, and possibly saw the first sneak peeks of the new little white box shown here.

Let’s have a closer look inside the Project Life Core Kit, shall we? Today’s post is loaded with pictures so you can really get a feel for what comes in the Core Kit. These images are of the Turquoise Edition and the Amber Edition. We don’t have samples of the Cobalt and Clementine Editions yet, which is why they’re not shown here. But the contents are the same. Just different designs.

Here is a list of the contents. This card comes in the kit so that when you receive it, you can easily and conveniently verify that you got everything you should be getting.

Project Life Core Kit: Turquoise Edition with the lid off:

You can set the box inside its own lid – or not – and place this on your desk, in a drawer, or on a shelf. It’s tidy and organized and compact. Yum.

Something we’ve added that used to NOT be a part of a kit, is a stack (60) of blank grid Journaling Cards. These little 3×4 gems will be sooo handy for extra notes, stories, lists, little photo mats, or however you end up needing them. Part of your Project Life album, or other scrapbooking, or other random projects!

And of course you get like a million (okay, so closer to 380) of the decorative journaling cards as well, that are compatible with the rest of your Core Kit components.

And those bi-fold cards are super handy when you have more to write on some occasions.

We aren’t leaving you hanging for that very first page of the album … or the last page! There are cards that are specifically designed to slip into the front and back pages of your Project Life album. This isn’t new; We have always included these in the kit.

What IS new … is that we now have printed on the back of each card, the suggested placement … so there is no confusion for those of you who want to follow the layout design exactly as we intended it to be.

……….

Alrighty. So do you get it? Do you feel like you know all about the innards of a Project Life Core Kit? The bottom line with the Core Kit is this: It’s all the core components of what you would need (besides your pictures) to complete an entire album … (and then some, because there’s so much stuff!). Obviously the other key component is the Photo Pocket Pages. You’ll want to get a Big Pack of 60 (Design A), or the Variety Pack of 60, or whatever packs of 12 that give you exactly what you want.

I won’t interject with more notes. Now I’ll just show you similar pictures of the AMBER Edition.

……….

Both the Turquoise Edition and the Amber Edition of the Project Life Core Kit will be available as early as October. The Cobalt Edition and Clementine Edition will be available as early as November.

I love the design of the box! (I love the design of the stuff inside the box as well…) One thing I struggle with in the current version is that I can’t keep my things as organized as I would like to leave them out all the time, but I find I’m not as focused on getting things IN my binder if it’s not out all the time. I think you’ve just solved my problem with this adorable little box!!

  2. Cheryl says:

Becky & Co. THANK YOU for making this sooooo simple. I loved the idea of making scrapbooks, but just got so overwhelmed by putting it all together. Now the only really hard choice to make is which kit? Maybe I’ll have to order one of each…

PS. Can’t wait ’til October & November!!!

  3. Bet says:

Thanks for another PL fix Becky, till tomorrow :-)

As a newbie, and yet to purchase PROJECT LIFE customer, can I just say that my head is literally SPINNING and my mouth is DROOLING over the Core kit and I just can NOT wait to start this project next year and get my sweaty palms on the new COBALT….LOL!! However, all of the designs look so so yummy that the more I think about it, the MORE I might need more than one Core kit!! UGH!!

  5. Lisa says:

I ♥ the new box design. I’m sad that the scrapbook dividers aren’t included in the Core Kit, but I guess there just isn’t room for them in the cute white box. Thank you for creating such a useful and easy to use product! I love mine and am waited with baited breath (but not holding my breath b/c that would be a bad idea) for the new editions in November.

  6. The new box is GREAT! That will help with the organization A LOT! Great job!

  7. Michelle says:

LOVE it!!! Do you know the cost?

  8. Rebecca says:

Love all the new products!! Thank you for a job extremely well done! BUT, I’m a little confused, because I have just pre-ordered a couple of kits (Canada) and thought I was ordering the full meal deal (ie., binder, cards, pages, etc.). Please clarify!! Thank you!!

    • Krista says:

      Rebecca,

Tammy, the distributor for Canada, has put together the full meal deal with everything. But also has the individual components so if you don’t want something you don’t have to get it. HTH!

  9. Niki Estes says:

I love the little storage box, Becky! I only made it through the first 3 months this year and am so disappointed that I fell behind. I really wish I had kept up better. I may try to go back and fill it in, but I am looking forward to starting again next year!

  10. Allison says:

LOVE it! Organization just makes me happy!

  11. Lyndee says:

This is so great! I can’t wait to start this is exactly what I needed! Is it horrible to ask if you have a price range yet? Something like this will take me a couple of weeks to save up for and I want to be sure to get it as soon as they are released.
Thank you for this it is the greatest thing!

  12. Lori says:

I agree with Lyndee. I need time to budget for my Amber edition and a price estimate would be very helpful.

  13. Karen W says:

Becky, I love the new Core Box! It will keep all the goodies orangized and right at hand! Thanks so much!

Looking forward to getting my 2012 box and pages

    I want it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Lisa Browning says:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the core kit. I just printed the catalog yesterday and I was wondering about the specifics of the core kit. Thanks for also including the white journaling cards. Love the box, too. You are the BEST at organizing and the 2012 designs are just wonderful. I got both designs this year and will probably get both new ones as well. I have done this since the beginning (with Project 365 via CK), and it has changed the way I scrapbook. I’m going to do my huge backlog of photos using Project Life materials, with occasional layouts inserted, and maybe mini-books for some occasions. I can see getting caught up now. Before, I really couldn’t. Thanks not only for your products but for keeping us advised, the previews, and being so organized. You are an inspiration, you really are.

  16. Erin McGlone says:

Looks great! I’m thrilled to have the little white box so that I can keep everything in it. I had a really hard time organizing my journaling cards to have on hand to grab easily – tried several different things that don’t work all that well – am currently using expandable utensil drawer organizers. And I’m glad that most things are still in one package!

  17. Chrystie DeSmet says:

Love the new box that holds it all!!

  18. Rebecca W says:

    looks good!

  19. Marcia Yochum says:

GIMMIE! GIMMIE! GIMMIE!!! I’m finishing my daughter’s scrapbooks (THANK YOU for introducing me to We R Memory Keepers 3 ring albums) before she graduates high school this year. I want to do an album of the candid shots she has taken since junior high. The Project Life Core Kit will be PERFECT. I can put the album together for her, and she can journal her memories later. I’m ordering a core kit (or both!) and a big pack of 60 A’s and a big pack of variety pages as soon as they are released.

  20. LOVE the box they come in so I can keep it right out on my table!!!

  21. Charity says:

Looks great! But what about the dividers? Will there be ones specific to each design or do we just use the plain ones?

  22. Sheri Thornton says:

    October and November!…impatiently waiting.

  23. Erin F. says:

I know that all of these products won’t be out until October/November, but do you have prices listed somewhere? I often see people posting things about being a “planner” and I’m totally that way, especially when it comes to our family budget. Since things are broken up a bit from the previous ‘kit’, I’m just curious about what each of the components will cost so that I can plan ahead and get what I really want!
    Thanks!
    ~Erin

  24. Jessica says:

So what is not in the Core Kit that was included in last year’s kit? Just the binder and photo pocket pages?
Love that box! I love how it is all organized and in one spot!!!!

  25. Sarah says:

I just had a look at the Australian pre order prices and almost died. Sorry, but charging $55 just for the binder is insane when they only cost $12.99 for USA customers. Same as all the other products. They are almost double for us Aussies. The new cobalt kit? Included is: the Cobalt Core Kit, a pack of 15 Scrapbook Dividers, a pack of 60 Design “A” Pocket Pages, the 24 pack of Cobalt Cardstock and the Cobalt Binder. Cost for us Aussies? $165.00.

    • Amity Knight says:

I think the box design is perfect. It means everything is in one place. I can’t wait to get mine in October and then the new lot in November. I’m so so excited. I have been stalking the blog for any snippet of new information or photos. I love it.
I think the price is pretty high too. $55 is in A$ for the binder. That is insane. Considering how well our dollar is doing in comparison to everyone elses you think our prices would be cheaper. Surely it doesn’t cost $25 to ship the binder. I’ve put my pre-order in but not for the binder. I couldn’t justify that. The Canadian get the whole kit for $84.99 and the core kit for $29.99 and we pay $45 for the core kit. There is something wrong with that.

      • Rowie says:

Hi Ladies just wanted to let you know the $55 is actually NZ dollars which is about $1.22 AU

Sorry not sure what that works out to be

    • Pilbara Pink says:

I have ordered my kit and was also surprised that it was so expensive in NZ/Aust. However, the price does include freight from NZ to Australia and the price is in $NZ, as others have mentioned, so we are on the right side of that. I decided it was value for money for what I want rather than comparing the US price. As I live in a really remote area (1200km north of Perth) most of my shopping is done online. Postage is a huge additional cost for almost anything you buy. Many times I have not purchased an item as the cost of getting it outweights the value of the item to me. If you have every bought books from Amazon you will know it is easy to pay as much for postage as you do for the books you are buying. (Thanks goodness for downloadable books!) I guess it comes down to how much you want something balanced against the price of it.

  26. Letty says:

Sarah….remember the prices on the craft house website are in NZ dollars and shipping costs to our part of the world are pretty high. I’m happy to pay the price for such a cool system.

  27. kim smart says:

wow!! this is just perfect! i have never attempted project life before. i am not organized at all and thought it would definitely get pushed to the side over time but now with this, i know i can do it and keep it up! thanks for making it so easy! cant wait to order mine!! now the only problem is, do i want clementine or cobalt, lol!

  28. jennifer says:

    jennifer olson

when can you buy the the core kits and other becky higgins for project life

  29. Leslie says:

LOVE your simple philosophy….please oh please consider adding a separate pack of 4×6 title cards in all the matching themes. I need more as fillers for times I don’t have enough photos to finish a spread. I would love to be able to just shove a matching card into the empty slot!! Your products are great. Keep them coming…loving my kit.

OMG, the anticipation is killing me! I am so excited to see this beautiful kit, well thought out!

  31. jenn says:

this is SO COOL! I was going through my 2009 (totally unfinished) project life and wanting to revive it. I’ll prob take out the 3 weeks of stuff that made it in there into something else. these new core kits are more my style. And I can keep the same album (maybe fancy it up a bit). This kit/project/album/wonderfantastic thing gets better each year!

  32. MaryStClair says:

I can’t wait!! I am documenting this year since my oldest graduates HS, my middle graduates MS, and my youngest graduates elementary…. We are looking at colleges, and the coming 12 months will hold many special memories and changes for our family!!

  33. Nanda says:

This is amazing. I really would like to do this project, but here, in Brasil has no album or something, do you beliave that? Poor me LOL

    Xoxo

  34. Meryn says:

This is really awesome, I am really excited, but I am kind of sad there wont be the cute monthly dividers, So your just making plan clear ones?

Becky… you are awesome. :) Thanks for making memory keeping so easy and so enjoyable again!
