product FAQs

I am grateful for your comments (your excitement is the best, thank you!) and questions. There were some excellent questions regarding the releasing of new products and I’m happy to address them.

 ……….

Q: I’m confused about what I should order. What exactly do I need to get?

A: If you want to stick with absolute basics, this is what you need: Project Life Core Kit + Photo Pocket Pages + Binder. That’s it. Those are the essentials to create a full album.

Note about Core Kits: Right now there are 2 editions of Project Life that are available (Amber + Turquoise) and 2 more editions that are coming in November (Cobalt + Clementine). No matter which edition you chose, it’s all the same contents, just different styles.

Note about Photo Pocket Pages: All of our new Photo Pocket Pages are still on their way and should arrive in the next few weeks-ish. The only Photo Pocket Pages in stock right now are Design B. The most ideal (and for sure the best value – price to be confirmed soon) way to buy the Photo Pocket Pages is to get the big pack of 60 when it becomes available in a few weeks-ish.

Note about Binders: We do have Amber + Turquoise Binders in stock but I want to be clear: These are the original binders with the black linen spine. The new & improved binders are coming in November. They are absolutely improved, manufactured by We R Memory Keepers, and will cost a bit more. I can’t confirm the price of the new binder just yet. But if you want to save a few dollars, then I would go for the binders that are in stock right now.

Back to the question – and now that I’ve clarified the essentials – everything else is just fun. The Cardstock, Scrapbook Dividers, Big Envelope Pages, and all the different Photo Pocket Pages that are coming. You certainly don’t have to have these items to complete a scrapbook if you’re trying to spend as little as possible. Remember: We love making scrapbooking affordable so more people will do it.

*** Everything – essential or extra – can be viewed on the Products page – always.

Q: What’s the difference between the Photo Pocket Pages still in stock and the new ones coming soon?

A: We have improved the quality, strengthened the seams … and kept the prices low, even though manufacturing costs went up.

Q: Why does the Cobalt edition have a title card with “2012″ on it?

A: Most of you will be using the kit for 2012 pictures + memories. It was a fun design that Kim came up with for the title page of the Cobalt edition that she designed. If that doesn’t work for your scrapbook (let’s say you’re using the products to create a scrapbook with pictures from a few years ago), simply don’t use that one card. There are plenty of extra cards in the Core Kit that you can choose from to replace that one.

Q: How fast are these new items going to move? Do I need to be worried about things selling out?

A: I am happy to keep you as updated as I can. I want you to be as informed as possible to make the best decision about what to buy, and when to buy it. Right now I can tell you that if you want to get the Amber or Turquoise Edition of Project Life, but you want to wait until the big pack of 60 Photo Pocket Pages and other plastics come in a few weeks, you should be okay to wait if you’d like. Of course there is risk in waiting. You never know if there will be a huge spike in sales randomly one day. But as of right now, those 2 editions are moving steadily, but not crazy-fast since they’re the 2011 designs that have already made their rounds this year.

There aren’t that many “original” binders left (see question above). Especially now that I’ve been clear about how the NEW binders will cost more, what’s left in inventory now will probably go fast. So if you think you want a black-linen spine binder, I wouldn’t wait. We will for sure not be making those binders again now that we’re spoiled with the fine manufacturing that is We R.

As for the other products that we just released, the situation is similar to the Project Life Core Kits. Sales are steady-but-not-crazy-fast on the Cardstock and Journaling Cards (box of 100), since most of our customers already have these from earlier this year.

The very best way to stay informed is to be sure you check my blog regularly or subscribe to my facebook or twitter updates. I will let you know if something is getting close to selling out. Most companies wouldn’t dream of doing that. I prioritize communicating well with my customers.

Q: I live outside the U.S. and I can’t view the video you just posted. Why?

A: It looks like some music is not “allowed” on YouTube videos in certain countries – probably a copyright issue or something? Bummer! Perhaps I’ll have to remove the music and re-post the video for international friends.

Q: Who is the artist of the “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” song in your video?

A: The version of that song that I used is actually by the Glee cast. I use Glee music in a lot of my videos.

Q: What about the binders – when will we see those?

A: We’re still on-track for November.

Q: Can I only use the Project Life binder with the Becky Higgins products?

A: Nope. You can use any binder you want. Our binders are the same standard sizing as just about any other 12×12 3-ring binder out there. Feel free to choose another binder. But really – ours are the best.  ; )

Q: What about the Signature Black Binder and Signature White Binder?

A: We are sampling and re-sampling and re-sampling again so that we make these signature binders positively perfect. I don’t have a release date on these until we nail it.

I have a question I don’t think you’ve addressed before (at least I don’t think so?), is the core kit enough product to do project life for 52 weeks in one year or do I need more than one kit? Thanks! Can’t wait til the new stuff comes out!

    • Yes, absolutely. If you wanted to document a full year with a picture every day, that would be 52+ layouts and a Core Kit includes everything you’d need for that full year, and even a little extra for potential journaling mistakes on the cards, etc.

  2. Purplejamie says:

Hi Becky, when you are announcing timescales it would be really helpful if you could let us know whether if these are universal dates, or if not what the various release dates are in different territories.
    Thanks

  3. Rosemarie says:

I ordered my core kit for the turquoise binder that I already had this morning at 7:30. I just got word that it has been shipped and will arrive tomorrow. Can’t wait.

  4. KristiG says:

Do you think you could show us pictures of some of the journaling cards themselves for the new cobalt and clementine editions? Thanks for all you do!

  5. Therese A says:

I haven’t noticed the date stamp in any of the videos. For your new customers, are you still selling the stamp or will they have to get their own?

  6. Sarah M says:

Will the new designs be avaliable in the digital kit soon?

  7. Yes – more details about our digital offerings coming soon.

  8. Kristan says:

Hi! So, just to be clear, there will definitely be a white/black, super fab, Becke Higgins album?

  9. Charity says:

    Hi, Becky!
Will there be coordinating scrapbook dividers (for the months) for the core kits or just the plain ones? Thanks so much!

  10. Kirsten says:

Is there someplace we can acquire a list of all the awesome ideas for the daily pictures? I’ve seen them on the blog but never thought to write them all down.

  11. Shayla says:

    Hey Becky,
Love your stuff! You said there are more details about the digita offeringsl coming soon…but I was wondering it there was any way to purchase a digital kit with the papers and elements and all the fun things that come with the paper kit. i love to digi scrapbook and would love to use some of those pages and things in my regular scrapbooking.
Thanks! Keep up the awesome work! You inspire me everyday!

  12. Kristy says:

    Hi Becky,

When we will the new designs be available for digital PL? Ready to start my new album, and would love to use a new design. I know it is hard to ‘change’ book designs once you have started. And I don’t want to get behind.

    Thank you,

    Kristy

  13. Joanna says:

    Hi Becky,

Wow. Your customer service is awesome. I can see why people love you and your products so much.

I have a fantasy of purchasing the clementine kit and then putting it in a black or white binder. Is that a possibility? To mix it up like that? I love the idea of having the outside of the book look really clean and simple, and then the inside being decorative.

    Many thanks,
    Joanna

    • Gypsy says:

Since the binder is purchased separately from the core kit, you can certainly achieve your idea.
As long as the kinks are finally worked out with the black and white binders!

  14. Danielle Geraty says:

Hi, I am new to project life am really interested in the kits and pages. Does anyone know if the journaling cards (3×4) fit in an 8.5×11 photo pocket page by We R? I already scrapbook in this size binder…

    • Gypsy says:

There are many different pocket pages from We R – so the answer is “It depends”. If there are 4″ h x 3″ w pockets in the pages you have – yes, the journal cards will fit. If all the pockets are 4 x 6, two journal cards will fit next to each other in one pocket.

To me, the big difference is that the letter-size format doesn’t have sufficient space on a two page spread for eight 4 x 6 photos and eight 4 x 3 cards. The 12 x 12 perfectly accommodates a full week plus one extra 4 x 6 and 4 x 3 slot. The core kit includes 4 x 6 cards with space for the week’s dates and 4 x 3 cards with designs – these fit in the eighth pocket for each size.

  16. Vicky says:

The version I know of that song is Hawaiian artist, Israel Kamakowiwo’ole “the IZ”.
He sings an amaziing version of that song, can be found on youtube.
I liked it so much I downloaded it on iTunes.
Jason Castro also sang this version on American Idol.

  17. Casey says:

I have pre-ordered my Clementine kit and I can’t wait, one bonus of living in Australia.

Love seeing different takes on project life coming up on the internet and I can’t wait to give it my own spin. With the main aim to stop fussing and get life documented!

  18. Sarah says:

Do you know when Project Life will be on Amazon.co.uk???? I’m checking EVERY day but it could get a bit tiresome!!
    Can’t wait..
Can I order from the US site if I can’t wait???
Love Love Love it and looking forward to my first EVER project life year!!

Becky- any idea of release dates for the school kit?:D

  20. Veronica says:

So so excited! Ordered an Amber core kit and scrapbook pages 2 days ago and FedEx just dropped it off!! I’m new to Project Life and can’t wait to get started! My baby is 7 months old so I have some catching up to do! :)

  21. Anna-Marie says:

So awesome that the core kit is available. I bought mine wednesday and it will arrive at my house today 10/7. I will spend a lot of time this weekend putting together pictures of my kids (6 and 3) from birth until now. I am going to have it run chronoligically (because I’m crazy). I have lots of extra photo’s that I had in my office and changed out as I brought in new ones. Plus you can’t use very picture you ever print of an event so I am going to put those extra photo’s to good use and probably print out a bunch more and get a baby album done of both of my girls along with my thoughts on those events. Hopefully I’ll keep going with this along with PL so they will each have a book for just them and then a family book. I can’t wait for sunday and monday!!!! Thanks Becky!!!!!

  22. Gayle says:

Love the new designs Becky!! Will the digital version of colbalt and clementine be ready by the end of the year?

  23. Patti says:

This will be my 2nd year to purchase Project Life. Both years, though, I love the color of one set of paper, etc., but really, really dislike the binder color it comes with! lol This year I wish I could buy the cobalt cover with the “insides” from the Clementine set! I know I could buy everything individually, but that’s a bit intimidating to me. Drat!

  24. Patti says:

I’m a bit confused. Someone in Australia was able to preorder, but I don’t see where those of us who live in the US can do that. Why not?

  25. Jacqueline R says:

Becky, I just thought of a question….can you tell us who is designing the school/childhoold products? Or is it top secret for now? I am just curious if we will get to see more from Lori Whitlock and Kerri Bradford since they didn’t design either of the 2012 kits.

  26. [...] And … several other product FAQs here. [...]

  27. Sarah H says:

I saw mention of a classic black and a white binder? Does anyone have a resource where I can see these binders?
I’m kinda not sure if I want all my binders to match or mix and match… OCD yeah I know, lol.
    Thank you so much!
    Sarah
