top FAQ about Project Life

First a quick note to say – congratulations Amy in Scottsbluff, Nebraska! You were randomly selected to win the Favorite Four giveaway from Big Picture Classes! Please email projectlife@beckyhiggins.com with your shipping address so we can send your goodies to you.

……….

I know a lot of you – especially those who are newer to Project Life – have a burning question:

WHAT SHOULD I BUY?

We now offer a lot of products, which is fantastic for having options so that you can hand-select exactly what you need. But sometimes you just want someone to tell you - Get this. This is what you need.

This image is going on the top of the Products page. We’ll keep it there for your convenience as you browse products. And when you send your friends over to check out Project Life, they can instantly understand that there are must-haves and everything else is “fun” to add. Although … let’s be honest. Some of you say ALL of this is essential!  : )

……….

If you have a question that I haven’t answered about all the new products, please ask it in the Comments below – and I will answer it in the Comments. In other words, be sure to check back for answers. With all of the plastics arriving in the next 1-2 weeks, it’s important to me that you feel like you understand everything you want to know as you prepare for purchases. You’re smart shoppers. I like that.

Just in case you missed some previous posts, here are a few questions I have already addressed:

Q: How much will everything cost? Oct. 18 blog post.

Q: Is that clearance sale still happening? Yes – but only the Amber binders remain now. It’s a crazy bargain, folks – $8.44 for a binder. Wowza.

Q: What exactly is a Project Life Core Kit? What comes in it? Sept. 7 blog post, which is loaded with pictures inside the little white box.

Q: I live outside the U.S. and can’t wait to get my hands on Project Life. Visit our Shop page so we can direct you to those that can help you.

Q: How will I know when the new items arrive on Amazon? My best advice is to check my blog daily. There are a lot of exciting things going on right now and I wouldn’t want you to miss a thing. Plus – I give even more behind-the-scenes kind of updates (+ POTD Ideas + thoughts on cultivating a good life, etc.) on facebook + twitter.

Q: I like freebies. Can I get my hands on any Project Life goodies that are free? Okay, so that’s not a real question that anyone’s asked. But I just wanted to remind you that these super cute cards are yours, if you’re interested. Easy. Quick. Free.

And … several other product FAQs here.

I have a question about the childhood/school products that you are working on- and not when are they coming out :) ha ha ha If this has already been asked/answered and I missed it, my apologies…. are those going to be add-on’s to use with a project life core kit or are they going to be stand alone kits of their own? Just trying to plan for what to buy when the next round of kits becomes available since my next project will be my son’s album. Thanks so much!

    • The school/childhood products (coming SOMEtime in 2012) … will be offered similarly to how we offer all Project Life products now. I highly recommend getting the Big Photo Pocket Pages (60 pack is best deal) now so that you can start working on the albums, even before the CARDS (4×6 and 3×4, etc.) come. I’ll be addressing all of this in more detail – with a video – in the coming month.

when will all the project life be on amzon to by

    • The anticipated timing is listed with each product on the Products page – it’s hard to miss. More specifically, the plastics are all arriving in the next 1-2 weeks (by early November). The new Cobalt + Clementine products are expected by the end of November. The Binders are also late November, possibly early December.

  3. KristiG says:

Thanks for all the concise info in one place!!
I loved your preview video of the new kits, but was wondering if we could see pics of the actual journaling cards for clementine & cobalt designs?

  4. Kelly says:

My question is similar to Amanda’s. Do I need to purchase the Photo Pocket Pages and/or Big Envelope Pages now (when they are available), in preparation for the School Kits? Or will the School Kits be their own thing? (I plan on buying Cobalt for our 2012 album and two school kits.)

I apologize if you’ve answered this before and I missed it.

Thank you for your time and dedication to these products – they are life changing!

    Kelly

    • It’s an excellent question and I don’t mind addressing it. Once I do a video (anyone have some time I could borrow?), it will all make more sense. But the Photo Pocket Pages, in all the designs that we offer, are fantastic for family scrapbooking or childhood scrapbooking or school scrapbooking or ANY kind of scrapbooking.

  5. lindsey says:

So I’m late to the PL party. I just ordered the turquoise core kit to get me started. But have fallen in love with both the clemetine and cobalt editions coming out.

Curious just as KristiG is, will we be able to see the entire kits before they go on sale and sell out in 10 minutes? I am sure they will both be delicious and I will still not be able to make up my mind, but I’m hoping so!

Thanks! Excited to join the party!

    • It’s NEVER too late to join the Project Life party! Welcome! Just jump in whenever you want. Yes – I have lots more to show you with details of each kit – BEFORE more products become available for purchase.

Oh – and I really don’t anticipate anything selling out in 10 minutes. We have ordered sooooo much. However, I can’t seem to find my crystal ball. It was going to tell me exactly how fast things will fly out the door. Bottom line: It’s too hard to predict, but we did our best with anticipated quantities … AND … we WILL RE-ORDER anything that needs to be re-ordered.

  6. marisa says:

Thanks for breaking it down. I bought my first one last year and even though I have been way too busy to fill it as much as I wanted to I cannot wait until the new designs come out! I wish I could buy one for each of my 5 kiddos as their own Project Life albums but for now one will have to do :)

Trying to keep the cost down, even though it’s a great price all together, but with all those fun extras it may get a little high. So I ended up buying the Amber binder while on sale and that will save me from buying a new full priced binder. I think it will go good with Clementine. Not too worried about binders matching. Now I can spend on the goodies!!

    • Exactly. Make it all work for you! You can save money in little ways and I’m glad you snatched up one of the clearance binders before those are gone. You don’t HAVE to have it all at once. I’m not one to say you have to get this and this and this and this and …

I want everyone to get what WORKS IN THEIR BUDGET. Be sensible. You know what you need and what can wait. And as long as you’re getting my facebook + twitter updates, or checking my blog often … I will keep you posted on where the inventory might be getting low.

  7. Sue Thornton says:

What about the digital version? When will we get to see that? Will the digital journaling cards be plain or decorated? So excited!

  8. Amanda says:

I too am new to PL and am super excited for the new styles to become available so I can get started.

My question is around the scrapbook dividers item? What is your recommendation for using them in completing project life?

    • However you want! There are lots of label stickers that come with the Scrapbook Dividers – months of the year, numbers, grades in school, blank labels for you to make your own titles …

Use them to quickly identify the contents of your scrapbook so if someone is looking for “that one time…” they can find it quickly with the dividers.

  9. Carol says:

How thick will the new binders be? I currently have 2011 in two of the old style binders but I am hoping to replace them with one of the new turquoise binders.

  10. Carla says:

I love how you respond to just about every single question that is asked Becky. I posted a suggestion on Facebook yesterday about having solid color binders in the future and was SOOO happy to not only see a reply from you, but an awesome surprise that you are coming out with solid binders soon too!! I just wanted to say thank you for both the reply AND for giving me the opportunity to soon become a Project Lifer too!!

  11. Sara Lovell says:

On a totally unrelated subject (sorry!) – will you be offering the wonderful free Christmas card templates you’ve done in the last few years? I’m just planning ahead, and it would be wonderful if you were. I’ve loved them every year!

    Thank you!

    • BUSTED. I said only product-related questions!

Kidding. : ) Yes, we are going to bring back the Holiday Card templates that we’ve offered the past couple of years and those will be on the website by next week, I hope. If I took time to arrange for NEW designs, that would mean that I’m putting off working on a lot of other stuff, like the childhood + school products. And we don’t want to put that off, do we? : )

  12. Julie says:

Just curious if the new school products will be at all similiar in style to the original School Kits you did with CK? LOVED those!

And I have to say the big envelope pockets (from the old school kits) are so awesome for storing kid stuff – so definitely buy the new ones, because it is wonderful to have one spot to put all the memorabilia for each grade!

    Thanks Becky!

    • All-new designs but super fun, super fresh, super delicious, super you’re-going-to-want them-once-you-see-the-designs.

Yes, the Big Envelope Pages are certainly a popular item. Great for sooo many reasons, so many uses. Snatch up plenty of those for school + childhood scrapbooks – not just your regular Project Life.

  13. CindyP says:

I’m super in love with the digital book b/c of the ease of keeping up with the project. I started project life in 2008 and don’t have a finished book yet but will have a finished digital album this year! When do the new digital designs come out?

    • I’m super in love with the digital verstion too, Cindy! We hope to release the new photo book designs by the end of the year … but there’s a twist! I will fill you in more as soon as I can. I’m DYING to share more, trust me. : )

      • Liz Sawyer says:

I sent a couple of questions via website contact link about digital version last week but never heard back. Trying to make decision on hands-on versus digital for 2012… just nervous about products selling out before digital information comes out??

  14. Stacey M. says:

I don’t even know of this is possible, but I have this dream of having digital journal cards so I can just type/copy text and print. I know you’ve shown a couple different ways that others are printing at home on their current cards, but I’d really like to be able to have digital journal cards that match my kit. My dream is to be able to print them on cardstock at home or even have Costco print them when I print my pictures in a matte 4×6 with 2 cards per 4×6. Becky, can you make my dreams come true? lol

  15. Debbie says:

    Hi Becky,

When you first announced the new binders by WRMK a couple of us had a question regarding how tall they will be. Here’s an abbreviated version of my initial post:

I just bought the Expedit bookcase from IKEA specifically to hold my WRMK albums, also thinking that they would hold my Project Life albums. Not the case. The WRMK albums go in fine, but just barely. Your original Project Life albums do not fit. We’re talking 1/8″ difference between the two. (WRMK are 13 1/8″; PL are 13 1/4″ tall.)

Will you please give us an exact measurement of how tall the new binders stand? I would be really bummed if I ordered these to find out they still don’t fit.

    Thanks Becky!

    • Dang, I love it when I have awesome news!

The NEW Project Life Binders are the EXACT same dimensions as the We R Memory Keepers binders – 13 1/8″ tall. They will fit in your bookcase – hooray! : )

      • Liz Sawyer says:

YIPPEE! This is great news because I ran into the same problem with my IKEA grid. May have to buy 2 albums to replace my other one.

      • Debbie says:

Thanks again Becky! I’m so excited about this and I know I’m not the only one. :) Lots of Expedit bookcases out there. At least in blogland there are. (I’m not surprised at Angela’s comment below though because as much as I love IKEA I see inconsistencies with their products all the time. My PL albums just barely don’t fit. Oh well =)

    • Angela says:

Interesting…My PL albums fit in my Expedit (with no room to spare, but they fit)

  16. Samantha says:

    Hi Becky!
In your video on your product page, about 3/4 of the way through, you show a spread with four square photos on each page, and two journal cards inserted vertically, one over the other, on the inside edge of each page. My question is, I don’t see any photo pocket pages in that layout – is that a new one not listed yet, or am I missing something? I love that layout! Thanks for any info. :)

    • Please let me know which video (I have several), then I can pin-point which layout you’re talking about. Or tell me the content (title, photos, anything) of the layout.

      • Samantha says:

The video is “Project Life by Becky Higgins” at the bottom of the “products” page on your web site. The layout I am referring to is at 4:05 in the video, and I now notice what I didn’t notice before: a footnote saying Digital Project Life. So I guess that is a digital-only layout? I have not gotten into digital yet, but am on the brink, and have played with some sites like shutterfly, snapfish and mixbook to put together some faux-digital scrapbooks. I say “faux” because I didn’t actually do any design, but dropped photos in. I liked it. I am now going to look at info you have for digital Project Life. :)

  17. skye says:

    Becky -

A while back you offered free cards in clementine and cobalt. I had a hard time finding them again and was wondering why they are not listed on your free stuff page. Or if they are why I cant find them there. Do you plan on adding them there?

    • Oh dear! Thank you for bringing that to my attention Skye. I didn’t realize that got left off the Free Stuff sidebar. Yes, we’ll get that on there ASAP so that you – and everyone – can easily find it any time.

Until then, the link was at the bottom of this blog post.

  18. I already asked this on your facebook page, but I figured I’d ask it here once more in hopes that you’ll realize how much I reaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyy want it :-)

Any chance you’ll be reprinting the original red version to be available again?! The kit is selling for $150 on eBay but I’d much rather give you my $$ ;-)

    Thanks, Becky!

    –Mandy

  19. Jessica Groatman says:

I was wondering about how people stamp the date of the week on the weekly card. That used to be included, right? Is that available for purchase somewhere else and if not, do you recommend a certain product?

    Jess

    • Danika says:

I was wondering the exact same thing. I recently saw a date stamp by SMASH and was wondering if there were any other recos.

      • We are not including the stamp anymore, but it was super generic and those generic type of date stamps are really easy to find online or at your local office supply store. I don’t have a specific one to recommend (no time to research the options), but trust me – they’re out there.

If anyone wants to recommend a good one (especially if it’s from a scrapbooking company!), by all means – share away. : )

  20. Danielle Beard says:

    Hi Becky–

I’m so excited to say that my little white box arrived today! I’m totally new to Project Life, but so enthused to get going on my albums! (I’m waiting for the new Turquoise Binder and new pages to be released). My question is about your Christmas card kits. Will you be offering those again or are previous kits available? My dear friend has used them in the past and said that she purchased them from you. They were so beautiful–I’d love to make some myself this year. (I’m not referring to the free templates, however.)
Thank you so much for your time and for the inspiration to get my pictures done quickly, beautifully, and meanigfully!

  21. Katherine says:

    Hi Becky:

Are there sufficient quantities of the plastics that will last throughout the year? I am planning my projects and want to know what I should purchase now and what I can defer until later. Last year you ran out of the photo pocket pages and journalling cards. Thanks for all that you do:) I do appreciate Project Life and how it has made my life easier.

    • As mentioned above, we don’t have that beloved crystal ball to tell us how many products will sell, and how fast. But we ordered a LOT of everything. We will order more of anything that needs to be replenished. So if something DOES run out, rest assured more of it is coming.

  22. Kristina says:

I was getting started on my next PL book, and I’m using the new Tourquoise core kit with “old” design A plastics and B. The new journal cards seem to peek up over the pocket. Are the new plastics a tad bigger than the old plastics?

    Thanks Becky!

    • We have fine-tuned sizes with all our new products. The newly revised sizes are JUST RIGHT for each other (Journaling Cards + Photo Pocket Pages). So yes – if you’re using the new cards with the old PPPs, you may notice the subtle difference.

  23. Ann T says:

Can I assume that the new plastics will have holes in the same place as the We R Memory Keeper plastics? Incase I want to add some other style photo sleeves to my book?

I can’t wait for the Clementine Kit. (I’m hoping for before Thanksgiving so I can take it to the cabin with me to start my big Disney project.

Thank you so much! This is such a get kit idea.

  24. Sarah Wilson says:

how true to life are the color representations of each design are the pics? some are brighter than others even for the same design.
    THANKS

    • Between my monitor and yours, I really don’t know what to tell you. I hope that between my videos and pictures, you’ll get a pretty good idea of the colors. I don’t think it’s possible to make all colors show 100% consistency across the board, I’m sorry.

  25. Cathy A says:

Please disregard if you have answered this as I have not had time to read all the questions and answers yet. Just wondered if there will be a sneak peak at the journaling cards that are in the core kit for the new PL designs? Cannot wait for the announcement that things are in stock on Amazon. I am ready!!

  26. Kelley says:

I hope this question does not come across as rude, but since I can’t see these in person before buying…what makes the PL pocket pages better/more appealing than regular photo pocket pages? Thanks for the info! I love the new styles that are coming out!

    • It’s not rude at all. You’re a smart consumer – good for you! This is how I answered the question in some Q+A on my blog August 10:

We are more picky than ever. Quality control. The search for perfection. You name it, we have been working very hard to make these staples as close to perfect as possible, so that you are happier than happy with our products. So if quality is a big deal to you, that would be a reason.

Secondly, the way we’ve set up our business for U.S. customers is that we sell directly to you by way of Amazon. This is how we’re able to keep our prices down. So if affordable is a big deal to you, that would be a reason.

Thirdly, a few of the basic designs are obviously “what’s out there” already. We know that (refer to the first two points in this response). But we added them to the line-up for a simple reason — it’s nice to have the same quality and affordability across the board. So if consistency and convenience are a big deal to you, that would be a reason.

Most of our designs, however, are unique to our brand and are very much inline with our philosophy of taking the guesswork out of scrapbooking for those who want to simplify the process. Our pockets are 4×6 for the standard photos and 3×4 for the Journaling Cards (and “half-size” photos and memorabilia and whatever else you use the 3×4 pockets for). This is key in helping us to be better about journaling little notes, stories, and anecdotes to go along with our pictures.

  27. DonnaD says:

So do we have to buy everything separately or will you have a Complete Project Life Kit to purchase just like the past few years? I guess I am a little confused, sorry!

    Thanks a bunch,
    DonnaD

    • I was hoping to clear up the confusion with the big graphic in today’s blog post. The components are broken apart as seen on the Products page.

THERE IS NO MORE FULL KIT WITH EVERYTHING IN IT.

(PS – I’m totally not “yelling” … just trying to make sure that part stands out in case anyone else missed that announcement.)

Here is how I addressed the same question on my blog on August 10:

I’m happy to explain what led to the change. We used to offer full kits. Everything-in-a-box. Simple, right? Well … not so much. Most everything was A-OK but manufacturing defects are inevitable, period. So in a huge box with lots of contents, if any one piece was wrong, there was a lot of time/work/stress/money spent on replacing little pieces here + there. Now, if there are any problems at all, it’s a simple return/exchange with Amazon (U.S. customers) or with your international distributor, for those of you outside the U.S.

Another reason for breaking apart the kit: We love making scrapbooking affordable. Even though the price for one kit was incredible (and, quite frankly, far less money than you’d ever spend on that much stuff anywhere else), it’s still money. And money can be tight, especially these days. The way we’re moving forward with our products now, folks are able to get only what they feel like they need to get the job done, and skip the fun extras if it’s not the right time to be spending extra money.

Bottom line: There are several reasons why we decided to do this, and what you need to know is that David and I have put a lot of time, thought, and money into this business. We don’t make decisions lightly. Please trust that we are very thoughtful and very intentional about our choices with what and when and how we do things so that you – our customers – have a good experience, while also maintaining that our family life is our #1 priority.

  28. Kimberly says:

    Hi Becky.

Love PL and everything that you do. Why such a big price difference between the US and Australia. It is almost twice the price?

    Thanks!

    • I do not determine any of the international pricing but I completely trust our wonderful international distributors and know they’re doing their best. You will probably want to check in directly with Craft House if you have questions regarding their pricing. I am sure they would be happy to explain.

  29. Julie A says:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKY!! Hope you have a fabulous day doing the things you love with the people you love xx (It’s already Friday here in NZ!)

  30. I am getting slight teasers that perhaps you will be offering not only the Digital Project Life photobooks but perhaps digital papers, elements, templates even?? I’m a digital scrapbooker and LOVE that you offer your photobook but I design most of my photobooks in Adobe InDesign for full creative freedom….so question is…. (without giving away your secret project)….

Might we soon see digital supplies for the Product Life brand??? (just wink ;) if that is a yes haha)

  31. Connie says:

My nephew just left on his Mission to Boston. We want to do a Project Life kit for his mission photos and letters. Besides sending him a set of journaling cards for him to write on and send back with his camera’s memory card, do you have any other suggestions to adapt PL to a Missionary? Have you seen any other Missionary Project Life pages?

    • I have not seen a complete missionary album – Project Life style. But in my opinion, it’s a NO-BRAINER. So simple for the missionary and for the family … and such an awesome end product, right?? I think what you’re doing with the Journaling Cards + printing pictures for him is perfect! Just choose the edition that best suits his style and you’re all set! We do hope to bring an edition to the table that is ultra classic and perfect for missionaries and other non-frilly themes.

      • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo… ooooooooooooooooooooooooo…. oooooooooooooooooooooooo… I LIKE THE SOUND OF THIS… ultra classic… no frills… a BLANK CANVAS???? Sounds PERFECT! Ease of operation + room for my own personal touch = the best of both worlds = PERFECTION!!!!

  32. Megan says:

I was wondering if you had plans to create another baby set. I liked the original one you made with CK but didn’t buy it because I didn’t have a baby. I’m worried that I missed my baby kit opportunity.

    • Angela Hidlebaugh says:

I am also wondering if there is a possible baby version. I am expecting my 8th kiddo at the beginning of December. I need to simplify my scrapbooking in this area as well. (I wonder why?!?! :) ) I would be totally THRILLED if you came out with a baby kit along with the childhood kit. :)

      • Amanda says:

Ooo thanks for the tip Shirlee I just ordered two sets one to go back and re-do my daughter’s and one for our new baby. I had been think of making my own set but never seem to have enough time.

    • Yes, creating baby-specific products is definitely on my list. But not any time too soon. At this early stage of our little company, we can only crank out so much at a time.

In the meantime – choose a Project Life edition that suits your needs for style and totally document that baby’s life!

      • Mandy says:

Or get your bare bones protectors and journaling cards and get a 6×6 paper pad that screams “Baby!” I am transitioning into PL for my kids albums, but find there is much more customizing to personality if I go with a paper pack. So easy to make the 4×6 and 3×4 graphic cards out of. I let them pick their papers for the year. I’ve also had much success with the 4.5×6.5 pads. HAVE to HAVE the Core kits for my family albums though! LOVE them too much!

        • Courtney says:

Mandy- I LOVE this idea!!!! I don’t have kids yet, but will likely in the next few years, and wanted some way to make PL kits more “baby” like- at least for the first year! Great Idea, thanks!

      • Hope says:

        I’ve done exactly that, Becky-
I’ve used PL the last two years to create my own baby kit/book. I’ve taken a photo a day for her first 2 years and documented her life this way! It’s SO fun to look back over her photos and, though the binders are not all completed yet (I’m SO behind on journaling!) they will be an awesome record once they are done! My daughter LOVES looking at them as well! It’s worked out really great and the elements of PL are PERFECT for this, even if they aren’t specifically geared towards a baby book!!
I don’t have examples of what my spreads look like, but you can see the photos here to get an idea. http://www.flickr.com/photos/justplainhope/sets/72157623150454998/
I can’t wait to get started on her 3rd year with the Clementine Edition! Thanks Becky for such an amazing product!

  33. DaniW says:

Hi Becky, I have another Australian product question – do you know if the Craft House suppliers will be reordering products once they sell out like you have said you will on Amazon? They sold out so quickly last year and didn’t reorder, I am worried that that will happen again this year. Is that something you have discussed with them? Thanks!

    • Craft House makes those decisions on how much they want to order. The reason they didn’t/couldn’t re-order last time is because we didn’t have more available so it wasn’t an option for them. You could certainly express your concern with them directly, but they should be ordering plenty. And if they run out, they will be able to order more because we’re now in the mode of re-printing as needed on anything that needs more.

  34. Alison says:

Happy Birthday Becky, hope you have a fantastic day. I was wondering if your childhood/school products will be coming downunder to us here in NZ? I know that our kindgeraten and grades for school years are different but it would be nice to have school elements to add to albums since I have dont a school album for each of my boys, thanks.

  35. Megan S says:

along the lines of digital PL I know you can’t say much yet..but I thought I would put it out there so when you can talk about it maybe you will address it.
I’ve been debating about going digital and I am wondering if there will ever be an option to mix and match the different designs or will you always have to stick with just one per book? Thought that might be kinds cool! :)
    Thanks Love PL

  36. Shirlee says:

Okay, so not a Project Life Question, but still a product question. I use your old KOTM School and Baby kits. STILL LOVE THEM. Is there any type of online gallery out there that showcases what others are doing with these kits for inspiration? I’d also love to post photos of my pages using that product.

    • Great question. I’m not sure, actually – sorry!

Anyone have a lead to share with Shirlee?

      • Andrea says:

I haven’t found anything really, but I’ve used the Baby Kit for both my kids albums (I bought an extra when I was was trying to get pregnant with my son, so I had it for awhile. But I LOVE it!) If you find something, let me know!

    • Brenda says:

Perhaps you could create a few more communities over at Big Picture Classes for your School and Baby kits once you have them launched. Or even before that – as a source of ideas and inspiration to include within your kits in the future. I think the PL community at BPC is going along just fine.

  37. Kristan says:

    Becky,

I love your products and you! I have gotten several people “addicted” to PL! We text, okay when are we getting together to PL….code for vino and project life.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned. I am a true reader of your blog, but I have not read all the questions yet.

Do you anticipate doing PL indefinitely? or something similar?

In reference to the school kits, is it going to be a one-time purchase (like your previous) or something I will need to buy yearly?

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR PRODUCT! YOURS IS THE ONLY BLOG I FOLLOW.

    Wish we were real friends.

    Kristan

    • I love that you’re getting your friends tuned in to Project Life. Thank you for introducing them!

Yes, we anticipate continuing with this concept – this solution-based system – indefinitely. I’m always open to evolution in this process of memory keeping but really … what we’re doing makes SO much sense and helps so many people (myself included) so it’s going to stick around a while, I hope.

The school products would be a one-time purchase, not a buy-it-every-year deal. I try to simplify.

    Becky,

With your old page protectors, the holes were all the same size and on other brands the top and bottom holes are slightly longer so they turn real well in the binder. Do the new page protectors have the holes a bit longer to do the same? I only ask because my old version page protectors sometimes don’t want to turn real well because it’s a bit tight between them all. Does that make sense?

    Thanks so much!
    Kate

Oh and PS…I would LOVE the red kit to come back as well!!

My question for you Becky is… are you getting any sleep at all? You rock!

    Thanks,

    Hello,

I am about to pre order from craft house NZ. Does the clemetine kit come with the monthly deviders?

    Janine

    • Julie A says:

Janine – I wouldn’t delay if I was you – apparently their pre-orders close today! Yes the new full kits come with the new-style dividers. Hope this helps!

    • You should direct these questions to Craft House since you’re ordering from them. The Scrapbook Dividers are sold separately … HOWEVER – I’m not sure if they’re bundling them with the other components, etc. So ask them. Happy pre-ordering!

  42. Denise says:

Because I trust your opinion & creative eye, Becky…

Do you think the Cobalt & Clementine kits coordinate nicely… For instance, do you think the Clementine Binder will look nice with the Cobalt core kit or vice versa?

    -Denise

    • I don’t think it would be horrible, but if you were to ask me what would I do … I would keep the Binder and the Core Kit the same edition because that’s how they’re designed.

But there is no “wrong” and this is all about YOUR taste. It’s your life, your pictures, your personality.

  43. Joanne says:

Hi Becky, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions :)

What I would like to know is: do the new Clementine and Cobalt kits have rounded or square corners? In the product photos you have shown so far they are square but I cant tell for sure in your video you posted recently.

I super hope they are square!! I really dont like the rounded ones and if they are square people can decide what they like the most and round them themselves if they wanted.

    Thanks!

    • All corners are rounded as they have been. That is the stronger preference for the majority of customers, so this saves a LOT of corner-punching for a lot of people. I’m sorry that’s not your favorite though. : (

      • Joanne says:

Thanks for the reply Becky, Ive just seen the new photos (thanks for those, Ive been dying for a closer look) and can clearly see they are rounded.

Ive already pre-ordered both editions thru CraftHouse and will keep both :) Ill get over it eventually lol I (and a couple of others) were so excited when the first images came out and they were square.

i have a question that is not related to project life, but maybe you can still answer?
when will the 2011 christmas card downloads be available on your blog? :)

    • Hopefully next week – but they’re not new designs for 2011. We’re resurrecting 2009 and 2010 so that I can stay focused on actual product development (and a million other things). ; )

  45. Nic says:

    Hi Becky,

I don’t have a question that I can think of right now, I just wanted to say, Thank you! The concept of making sure I have my picture for the day has proved to be precious in so many more ways than originally intended. We have had soooo many losses this year and I’m especially reeling from my Dad’s sudden death in April : ( and thanks to you, and your product, I’ve captured so many priceless memories that I ordinarily wouldn’t have thought of. Those ‘in the moment, everyday times.’

    God Bless,

    Nicole

Hello from Honduras, Central America ! Becky, I am in the process of making a long time dream of mine come true and venturing into the handmade card making adventure. I need to know, please, if it is possible to purchase only the title and jornaling cards for all 4 designs of PL ? These would be perfect to use !!
    Look forward to your reply.
last but not least, thanks for all the inspiration who always deliver so well !

    • Very exciting, Ingrid – I wish you the best!

It is not possible to purchase the cards individually. They all come together in the Core Kit. You may want to get the Core Kit and I’m SURE you’ll find a use for the rest of the items that are included.

  47. Kathy Talazac says:

Your comment on the “I like free stuff” with the super cute cards downloads should go on your free stuff section on your website! Very nice!

  48. LOVE this idea… being able to add a digital page here and there to my “real” PL album… hybrid / a la Ali Edwards’ type scrapping… would be fabulous! ;)

  49. Alli says:

Just some extra info for those in Aus/NZ and ordering through Craft House:

    - They will not be ordering more stock so what they have on the way is all they will be getting (I emailed them to ask)
    - They have already sold on pre-order their entire consignment of Amber Core Kits (I was a little devastated! But LOVE Clementine also so looking forward to that arriving!)
    - They are selling through everything else quite fast so if you are from Aus/NZ I would recommend getting in quick.

Also, for those in Aus, prices aren’t too bad – especially when you consider the price difference we pay for other scrapbooking products compared to the US anyway. Also, all of Craft Houses prices are in NZ dollars and include all shipping costs. Also once the product has been delivered to them it will only take 1-3 days or so to be delivered to customers so it is quick shipping also. So although not quite as cheap as the US prices we are seeing they aren’t too hefty – especially considering the amount and quality of product we are getting.

    • Joanne says:

Thank you Alli- Ive just ordered more page protectors that I had been putting off :) Its a shame that they wont be reordering after things sell out.

      • Alison says:

IM glad I have done my preorder and just got what i wanted so that I had it for through out the year. I know they didnt re order last year and didnt think they would this year so wanted to be safe rather than sorry that I missed out. Cant wiat for things to arrive here in NZ and delivered, very exciting. And we are coming to the end of October so not long now

  50. Jacqueline R says:

Becky, can you tell us who is designing the school/childhoold products? Or is it top secret for now? I am just curious if we will get to see more from Lori Whitlock and Kerri Bradford since they didn’t design either of the 2012 kits.

  51. Rebecca Foxworth says:

One thing I’ve seen here and there around the web is the desire for a smaller album that fit the cards in the core kit. I’m thinking of something such as a two-up album where a picture pocket is on top of another picture pocket, with two journaling pockets (one right on top of the other) beside them). Or…a 3-up style album where the top and bottom pockets fit pictures and the middle is two journaling pockets. I know this would be way, way out in long-range planning after school albums and baby albums, and perhaps a Christmas or Celebrations core kit…but for those of us who wish to have a small album that is easily hand-held by children or the elderly, or for a trip or small theme album…this would be ideal.
Not really a question, just something I’ve seen commented on by more than one person around the web, myself included. Those 12 x 12 albums are just so huge and heavy!

  52. ileana says:

How about some life stuff – like how you’re decorating this fall, or a new recipe, or what you’re doing for Relief Society?

  53. Traci says:

I can’t wait for the big pocket pages!! Thanks for bringing those to us!! :)

  54. Amelia says:

I sent this question in on the products page, but haven’t heard back. I pre-purchased a digital album for my new daughter, but haven’t gotten very far yet. I like the new Clementine design better for a baby girl. So, I was wondering if I can switch to that design when it is released. I want to stop working on it if this will be possible. Thanks, for the new beautiful products. I plan to get the Cobalt for our family album.

  55. Samantha says:

I know this is past the date that you were answering questions for, but I have an idea to leave, and am not sure where to leave it: I LOVE the concept of PL, I love the designs for the cards (Amber and Cobalt are my favorites!) I love the layout and design of the plastic sleeves, I love the look of the outside of the album, basically everything, except the three ring part. I feel it looks messy and does not lend to the nice look of the pages inside. Would you, or have you considered making the album so that pages can be added, but not see rings. A post-bound album, a threaded album, the like? I’d love that. Thanks for listening and being open to new ideas!

    My best,
    Samantha

  56. Janine Rutherford says:

Oh that’s wonderful Becky. I was just about to ask if the School kits will be suitable for NZ school years. Thanks for the time you have/are putting into these products so that everyone around the world can enjoy them and use them xxx :-)
