did i ever tell you what i did on my birthday?

……….

This has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. To be able to experience a hot air balloon ride with my very favorite people – my little family – was the best part of all. We also spent some time with dear friends. Oh, and we did hit IKEA for a little creative field trip too. Just being there makes the wheels in my head spin. In a good, creative way.

Being back on the ground meant getting back to real life again.

Awesome.

Oh that looks fantastic. I would love to have a birthday like yours. I have not done any of those things and would love to – Hot air ballooning, ikea and even the wet pants. I can’t wait to have kids!
Thanks for sharing and fantastic photos too!

I was very fortunate to live in Albuquerque, New Mexico the very first year that they had the hot air balloon festival there. What a tremendous adventure you must have had. and throw in IKEA, yea…that is all about sparking the creative juices flow….. I think many of us in all of our “adultness” still secretly love those few moments in our lives, where we can still get so tickled we can “wet our pants”. Sweet memories of joy.

So glad you and your family got to go up!

Oh my Gosh! How exciting. Would love to do that – but not alone and no-one else will come with me… :-( And Ikea – family joke is that we daren’t travel down the M1 because the car automatically turns off at Junction 25. :-D
And then wet pants! Poor little fella; but funny at his expense.
What a lovely day you had.

  25. Mrs. V says:

Wow! That looks like it would have been amazing!

I just received my first ever Project Life supplies in the mail (Amber core kit, white grid cards, and page protectors). I am excited to start scrapbooking in a new way. I am debating whether I want to get started now or if I want to wait until January so that I could start at a new year. Either way, I am most excited about paying special attention to saving artifacts from our everyday life to include.

  26. Verity says:

I went to a hot air balloon festival when I was in my late teens and vowed then that I would go up one day. Fast forward to about 20 years (or so) and I was up at the crack of dawn and fulfilling that dream over beautiful Melbourne, Australia. Strike another item off that bucket list in a big way. Amazing

  27. hydeeann says:

happy bday, lady! that’s a great way to celebrate.

i’m so excited to have all my plastics ordered now! just waiting for the clementine kit to come in. hopefully before my baby girl arrives, which is what i will be using it for. and that got me thinking that it would be so very awesome if you designed a baby girls & baby boys kit for all the proud new parents who will be using project life for their new little ones. i’m actually tackling two right out of the gate: the baby, due before christmas, and our entire family of 9 for 2012. next year i might even get brave and try to get the kids to do their own books. we’ll see – my plate’s a bit full already! thanks so much for the great inspiration and products to go with it.

  28. Eva says:

Happy belated Birthday! Hot Air Ballooning is on my bucket list also and being that I am afraid of heights I am not sure how that is going to work. But I am still determined to overcome and go for it. I have never been to IKEA, maybe I should put that on the list too? LOL!

  29. Tiffany H. says:

Oh how fun your birthday must have been for you (sans the accident). Love how you document the REAL everyday!

  30. Ainslie says:

Great photos Becky!! My husband is desperate to know the exact location of that road, as he wants to put that location on his bucket list! He is a civil engineer in Perth, Western Australia and has been in charge of road building projects for the last 20 years and any new road looks exciting to him :) Could you please tell me where it is? Thanks!

    Ainslie

  31. Stephanie S. says:

Awesome! A hot air balloon ride is definitely on my bucket list too. Ikea is so exciting for me that sometimes I wet my pants when I get their too, haha.

  32. Brooke says:

We once had 4 generations up in a hot air balloon. We made the newspaper for it!

Love your “reality” shot! I always pack a change of underwear and pants but am never sure what to do about the sock and shoe issue!!

  33. Patti says:

Happy belated birthday! I went up in a balloon during the Albuquerque Balloon Festival 1987 — gorgeous views!! Unfortunately, I didn’t take my camera up with me. As I climbed in, someone held my camera for me, and I didn’t get it back until we landed. :(

On a side note, is there any word which day in November the new PL kit will be available? I feel like a stalker, checking the page and hitting refresh multiple times a day, whenever I get a chance! lol

  34. Amy JOohnson says:

I love, love, love your last picture!!!! I am in the process of potty training! LOVE IT!

  35. Gypsy says:

LOL! I thought your balloon landed at Ikea! Then I read the caption…..

Were you surprised at how quiet the ride was? Other than when the jets are running to heat the air in the balloon, that is. And they’re LOUD. The other thing that surprised me was all the HVAC units on top of commercial buildings.
….Were you able to touch leaves on any trees? I don’t think that’s a normal opportunity; my first balloon ride was with a coworker who owned a balloon.

Ikea! Who doesn’t love a wander through Ikea? I think that’s a trip I need to make in the near future.

All in all, your birthday celebration sounds wonderful. Well deserved!
