Somerset Memories is a publication devoted to the artistic display of memories. I’m kind of blown away by the artistic talent that is featured in the pages of this magazine. I never thought I’d see Project Life in such a publication, only because Project Life is so simple. Sure enough, the editors at Somerset Memories saw what Ali Edwards was doing with her own personal Project Life and they invited her to write a feature story on the project.
I know I’ve said it before but I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Ali. I am so thankful that she has – without solicitation – adopted Project Life as one of the key ways she collects, organizes, displays, and celebrates the everyday in her own family’s life. She willingly shares her weekly layouts on her blog. She is a huge supporter and I love her for that. If you are new to Project Life or are seeking inspiration on how you want to preserve your pictures + memories, I would definitely suggest this: Curl up with your laptop and your favorite blanket and check out Ali’s series of Project Life blog posts.
Far more importantly, I love Ali for the woman that she is. Like most of us, she works hard to maintain a healthy balance in life. She struggles through difficult times like everyone else. And yet – she carves out time to offer inspiration. She shares so much of herself which in turn has been a huge blessing to so many people in so many ways – including myself and many of you.
So thank you Ali. For being you. For being amazing. We all love you.

I would love to have this issue. Ali has inspired me more than she will ever know, just by being who she is and sharing that with us. I am physically challenged and don’t travel much. She posted about a trip she and her family made to Chicago and posted a photo of her husband and son on the swing ride at Navy Pier. When I saw it, I knew I needed to go there and ride it with my son. And we did. And it is in part thanks to Ali that I found the brave part of me to undertake that trip. Thank you Ali.

Ali is definitely one of the main reasons I’ve been drawn to this project. I attempted a digital version in January, but figured out I should have stuck with my normal and done it with paper. Bought the Somerset Memories issue just to see Ali’s article. Have met Ali several times, the first in 2005 (or maybe early 2006) when I took a class in which we made a 5 page highlights album for 2005. 2005 was particularly difficult but thanks to Ali’s inspiration, I found six photos from a wonderful trip. The album is the one album I’ve made that never gets rotated. It’s been “on display” since I made it to remind me that even the worst year of my life includes happy memories.

What a great article article this must be, because it brings together 2 of my favorite women in the industry (Lisa and Stacy are the other). I love Project Life and how it can simplify my life, and the way that Ali has adjusted it is even better, because you combine my tendency to collect memorabilia here and there, and have found a way to take the stress out of my concern when I have debated about what I was going to do with the copy of the menu, or the schedule, or the class schedule…you get the idea. And now because of Ali I am starting to branch into some digital scrapbooking with my toes at first, but am looking forward to how I can use it to compliment the process even more.

Becky, I am truly amazed by you and Ali and have been a fan for many years. Scrapbooking has been part of my life for nearly 14 years now and while scrapping babies, toddlers & small children is absolutely a must (and I enjoyed every minute of it); they do grow up and I think Project Life will fit well with the life of a teenager. I finally convinced myself that I should get on board with Project Life in February this year (too late to buy any stock downunder – I’m in Australia) so have been waiting very patiently all year for the new stock, it should be here any day now (courtesy of CraftHouse New Zealand). I am VERY excited to start next year. I have even bought one for my sister, who with twin girls, age 2+half and new baby boy, wants to scrap but is time-poor – enter Project Life, a simple and easy system for her to record those special memories. Hi Ali, thank you for inspiring me. It took me a while but I finally got to do our Week In The Life in October. A little late I know but I’m just finishing off the layout now. Ali, I have been a daily follower of your blog for the last three years or so. You inspire me to document and celebrate daily life. You made me want to scrapbook again because of your simple philosophy of photos + words (with some embellishment here and there for kicks) and are the one who introduced me to Becky and Project Life. I’ve always been a huge Ali fan but never one to follow through on long-term projects. I started my own project life in July 2011 and love everything about it. I love that all the little pieces of paper that would normally get stored away in one of 10 different places around our home and then lost, are now there for the kids to see. Their favourite thing to do is look at the “scrapbook”.
I want to start incorporating more journalling into mine and plan on tackling that as a goal in January. But whatever it looks like now, it is one of the most precious things my family has.

I’m so grateful to both Ali and you, Becky, for teaching so many of us the importance of documenting the every day parts of our lives! I look up to you both for so many reasons. One is that you’re both moms with real lives, dinner to fix, laundry to do, and occasionally sick children, yet, you make time to share your lives with all of us. You teach us and inspire us. I’m incredibly grateful to each of you for showing me how to scrapbook in a whole new way. I’m actually doing something with all those pictures now!
I’m also so thankful for all the video tutorials that Ali takes the time to create. I’ve spent countless hours on her site learning something new about working with some “new to me” digital elements. I love that I have Ali’s site as a constant resource and a wealth of inspiration.
It really is difficult to put into words what a difference you two gals have made in my life this past year or so. Even my husband knows who you are! He knows the things I’m working on at home are almost always a direct result of something you have taught and shown us how to do. And when a tweet comes through on my phone, he’ll ask, “Was that Ali or Becky?” Haha.

I just have to say I love Ali’s way of scrapbooking! LOVE! I met her and had her sign a book at Portland Scrap expo a few years back. Funny story two of my sisters and I drove many hrs Vancouver to Eugene to go to a garage sale where Ali’s friend was selling lots Ali’s supplies. We didn’t quite know the distance but knew we wanted to be some the 1st ones at the sale. O WE WERE, as in getting there at like 4 am! WOW we felt like stalkers!! It was so fun tho, and I bought SO MUCH of Ali’s stuff;) And she remembered the story when I introduced myself – too funny:)

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE all the little bits and pieces she adds to her albums. I never thought of adding my shopping lists and receipts- but what a great “time capsule” it makes. Now I’m thinking about annually including a list of the costs of things at the beginning and end of the year (milk, bread, eggs, gas, average cost of a car, etc) which might be fun to look back on. I really want to thank Ali (and Becky for that matter) for inspiring me to preserve my family memories!!

Many others have said similar things, but I agree with them all. You and Ali are both real. You are busy working moms and have shown throughout the years how to make scrapbooking fit into your lives. It gives the rest of us the inspiration we need to fit scrapbooking into our lives.

I follow Ali’s blog and am in awe of all the gorgeous yet seemingly simple things that she does (and I’m getting Project life as a birthdaypresent – yay!).
I was not sold on project life until I watched Ali show her progress throughout 2010. Between Ali and Dedra Long (1 weekend, 2 shots), I began keeping 2 pics from each weekend that tells the story about what my family did and will be using project life to showcase them.
