I’m really glad we turned this into a video contest this year because if we hadn’t, I would likely never seen this video. And oh, how I love this video.
Kris Murray of Three Hills, Alberta, Canada nailed it. She totally captured the whole day-in-the-life theme. She makes me want to take all those family video clips that I’ve been collecting and put them to music and make some family movies, which is something I would love to spend more time doing. I absolutely adore this look into her daily routine – her real life – which is something that I know a lot of us can relate to with kids + housework. Even if that’s not your life at all, hopefully you will be inspired to document your everyday.
Kris used a Panasonic Lumix FZ35 to film, and edited the video with iMovie on her Mac computer.
Her comments: I’m always searching the Internet for fun, catchy songs that I can use along with my home videos and I was ecstatic when I came across Joy Williams! I’ve never heard tell of her but fell in love with her quirky, upbeat, real-life lyrics and have actually put together a few videos using her songs.
When I heard “One Of Those Days”, I immediately thought of the craziness that is piled into a 24-hour time period in the Murray household and knew what had to be done. So, I committed to carrying around my camera for the WHOLE day and record EVERYTHING, from my family waking up on the wrong side of the bed, to morning coffee, tantrums, play/crafts, nap time, lunch/supper, laundry, right up until bedtime when my son conveniently falls out his bed. The day I chose to record our life couldn’t have been more fitting for the song.
Kris, you have utterly inspired me. Thank you for sharing!

That was an AWESOME documentation!!
Thanks for sharing!!
nailed it…even the ikea kids dishes…only thing not there was the new puppy….great video
LIKE
So much goodness! The best: swaddling the baby and reinserting the binky during the process.
Made me smile! I love the gift of an ordinary day!
Love it! I’ve been inspired too, I want to make one of our family!
Loved it! That was precious and real.
This is great! Put a smile on face!
Great video! Loved her daughter dancing around, totally cute! I need to make one of these of my family. Mine might not be so cute with a 15 yr old, lots of evil eye I’m sure;) Thanks for the inspiration!
Kris, thank you. That was a great video and thanks for going to all of the trouble so we could watch it.
Oh I love it! I also have a question for Becky, I wasn’t sure where to leave it, I tried to find a “contact us” email but wasn’t successful.
So, I’m leaving it here…maybe this could be a question for feedback Friday!
This has been my first year using Project Life and I just want to say right off the bat, I LOVE IT! I have raved (and raved) about it so much on my blog that I am sure people think I’m selling it or getting a cut of the sales.
ha!! So, when I ask this question, it is not so much to be critical, but just to see if it has been addressed before. My album plastic pages come out of my album when I turn the pages…usually just 1 of the holes comes loose from the album and it bugs me to death! It makes me not want to let my children look at the album because I’m afraid they will tear it up. Also, I have noticed that some of the edges of the plastic pages have come apart where they hold the photos. I have not used this album TOO much, I just put in my pictures every few weeks…I don’t think I have overused it to make it to this. But, my question is: has anyone else mentioned this before? Have others had this happen or is my book just a mishap? If this problem has been mentioned, do you feel that it has been addressed and corrected in next year’s pages? I am ready to make my purchases for next year’s project life album, but I really want my plastic pages to be perfect.
THANK YOU!! I love your products AND your blog!! You are such an inspiration to me!!
You can email customerservice@beckyhiggins.com with product related issues. ;o)
Candace, I’m sorry about those issues you are having. It sounds like you have old product – not the new stuff? Either way, like Brandi said, we’ll certainly be happy to help you if you email customer service directly. I’m not sure what happen to your first attempt with the web form. : (
We’ll get you taken care of.
Thank you so much for your personal reply, Becky!!
I will use that email address listed for customer service that Brandi gave.
This video is great, but the one on her YouTube called Daddy’s Cinderella has made me bawl like a baby this morning. SHe has a major gift for conveying everything family…thanks to her, and to you, for sharing that gift and reminding me why I memory keep!
Yes, she has sooooo many wonderful videos!
So incredibly awesome!!!
Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Becky, what a wonderful pick for your 12 days of Christmas videos!
Kris, thank you for recording your life in all it’s details. As a parent of two little ones, our days are very similar. I can fully relate to the constant clothes changings, the piles of dirty dishes and laundry and the tantrums. You’ve inspired me to try and show our life, all of the details, not just the flowery and fun ones. Thanks again for your wonderful video!
This was amazing! Such a part of everyday life that most of us with children can relate to. Wonderful job…and the song fits it perfectly.
Of course she rocked it, she is CANADIAN
I admire you Kris and all of the other mom’s out there that work hard each and every day to keep our housholds up and running. (whatever the contribution channel may be) I love your video and there was a LOT of Project Life material in there. Your kids will certainly appreciate this – especially when they have kids of their own. Ha!
LOVE it! Thanks for sharing this with us!
What an incredible way to start my day! Thank you for sharing! I LOVED it and am inspired to video a day in the life for our family!
That was just awesome! Way to go Kris!
That was so awesome! I have iMovie but have never figured out how to use it. I love that video! And now I’m sad because my Ring Around the Rosies days are over.
Love this!!! I am TERRIBLE at getting video of the family so this has really inspired me!! Super cute and love the music. I am now watching all of her videos
Kris, can you tell me what the dinner recipe was please!!?? It looked really yummy
that was SO clever! Loved it–my kids even watched it with me!
That was great! What a treasure!
great! The scratched-up Ikea plates are soooo familiar!!!!
Oh my gosh, this is my life!! AWESOME video! Loved it!
I was actually wondering if anyone was brave enough to say – sorry but not really that funny! This truly was not what I was hoping for – especially to be third out of the blocks. Surely with the response I am certain you got for this Becky we could have had something more pleasant to begin Decmeber with.
I am confused and don’t think you meant that comment to be for Kris’ fantastic video, right?
Just a reminder to everyone that each + every video that I am doing/choosing for this year’s 12 Videos of Christmas has its own flavor. Some are really fun. Some are very touching. Some are informative + instructional. I love to mix it up and hope that you’ll enjoy the series. I certainly don’t expect that every reader will love every video with all of their heart. That’s not real life, as we all have different tastes.
If you don’t enjoy a video, I’m not sure it’s necessary to be negative towards those who worked hard on what they created – know what I mean?
May the spirit of Christmas stay strong in all of our hearts. Let’s leave criticism to the side.
I did not post that comment at all on Dec. 5th on Kris’s video. I did post a similar comment about Cleetus’s video but this is certainly not it. I have been hacked and I would LOVE to know how and by whom. Makes me very scared and very sad because I am not a negative critical person!
first of all….its DECEMBER! and second of all….the RULES for the contest were that it had to Teach, inspire, or entertain….nothing was ever said that it had to be funny! Besides Becky is in charge…no one needs to be “brave enough” to say anything because bottom line is everyone else loves her ENtertaining, Inspiring, and Teaching Video….It is truly the best pick for video number 3…Merry Christmas!!
carmel is NOT like this……this is NOT her comment!!!!
someone has hacked her!!!
becky this is NOT her commenting here!!!
Hi Carol and Becky,
I can vouch that this comment above that we are replying to is not from Carmel – while she did leave an opinion similar to this about the Cleetus video (which a few of us perhaps just don’t get *smile* ), Kris’ video above, is nothing like Cleetus and it is something heart-warming… and something that I just know Carmel would enjoy watching.
I don’t know how her comments have been hacked, but please do not think that she is dissing this day 3 video – Carmel is such a warm, generous, family oriented woman. Please don’t judge her harshly from a weird comment that has popped up.
Thanks,
Now this is a great video! What I was expecting. A day in the real life that I can relate to. And it is even entertaining!
Hey, I live somewhat close to her (within a couple hours drive)! When I saw Three Hills (Alberta, Canada) it immediately piqued my interest. I enjoyed how wonderfully ‘everyday’ her video was! What a great job.
Another Alberta girl here
Northwest a few hours. What a cool video Kris. That pretty much sums it all up doesn’t it. The good, the bad and the ugly!
What a GREAT video!! Thank you so much for sharing…I loved it!
Theresa
Loved it!
awesome. That is SO what we do.
This is awesome! Such a wonderful day in the life! Do you know if Kris has a blog we can read?
Loved it!
Another Canadian here! Her video made me cry and laugh at the same time… that could be my life… diapers, swaddling, soothers, tears, scratched up IKEA plates, laundry… on and on and on…my life seems more interesting suddenly, wierdly enough!
I shall now go do laundry and smile brightly… all the while pretending there is a camera focused on me! Haha!
Way to go Kris! and thanks Becky!
OH.MY.FREAKING.HECK!
Best video… Seriously… I LOVE IT! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it Becky!
fab.fab.fabbbbbbb!
-Jess
That was wonderful! I loved it!!!
Awesome! Loved it! Can’t wait to see your next pick, Becky!
This is the BEST video!!! I LOVED IT!! So totally inspiring thanks SOOO much for sharing!!!
Albertans ROCK! Loved the video. YOur the best Murray family!
From one alberta fan to another.
This was awesome and so real. Thank you for sharing your family with us and the music was fun.
THis brought tears to my eyes….I worked on my video for a few days to submit to the contest…and the day I did my hair, make up, and picked out the cutest outfit to film my diy video….my sweet baby would not nap…needed his mommy and I chose to just “forget it”…enjoy the 12 days of Christmas videos by other people… and tend to the Important things in life….this video was a reminder of that moment….tears, tears…..truly brings to light the essence of project life…and its significance of what sometimes feels like the insignificant. SOOO glad you picked this video Becky!!!
Perfect
I don’t know why Carmel didn’t think this was appropriate…some parts were funny, some touching and most just “LIFE” in the day of a family. Even though I am long past that, I remember those days and even though I have no little ones at home anymore, somedays are like that for just 2 people. Thank you for showing all of life and I think she did a wonderful job with the video. Precious family…Isn’t this PROJECT LIFE??? I don’t know how to use my imovie either and this has inspired me to try harder to learn.
Merry Christmas everyone.
I never said that – I have been hacked!!!!!!!
I have only just watched the video now – check the time of this and my supposed negative, horrible comment
guys carmel has been hacked!!! she did NOT make this comment
Thank you for this uplifting video. Completely inspirational as it captures a day in your life. And No day will be exactly like that one again and you have it captured on film. What a gift. What I wouldn’t give to have a video of my mom playing on the floor with my sister and I 20 years ago.
And the music Kris is just perfect. Good for you and your precious family.
And I completely (respectfully) disagree with the one commenter above- this is EXACTLY what I needed this beautiful December morning. Thank you Becky for sharing Kris with us.
Wow. Did she ever nail it!
Sometimes the days can become so overwhelming with all that is on our list to do, be it a work day or a home day (I work 4 on, 3 off). It is so easy to take for granted all of the little moments and though it is probably a cliche, the time passes by so very quickly it is truly frightening. I will turn 40 in 2012 and it is scaring me – big time!
With 4 young children, 7, 3, and 21 month old twins, to say life is hectic is an understatement. But, it was so nice to just see a video of a home which looks like so many of ours out here in Becky-blog-land. Sometimes I can get very discouraged that I can’t keep it all together all of the time. I have this idea that somehow everyone else out there is dancing around in their perfectly clean and organized homes, with their coordinated children (sans tantrums), etc., etc.
Kris has truly captured everyday life. And, isn’t it weird that I can see the beauty in every single thing, simple as they were in the video…a good reminder to just stop, look and listen to the sights and sounds around my own home and to just stop and breathe and take it all in because it is the same. Ordinarily beautiful!
Awesome!
Now, I’m off to iTunes to find that cool song!
What a wonderful video and great job Kris!! So many of us can relate to the “everyday-ness” of grumpy mornings & crying kids & 3 meals a day, but your video also showed that those days are filled with hugs & kisses & wonderfully silly kids.
There is something so reassuring and encouraging knowing that moms & families all over are going through the same crazy busy time and just slugging it out, day after day, but realizing the importance of appreciating every precious moment.
Thank you Kris for sharing your life, and thank you Becky for choosing it!
From a BC girl.
First of all … yahoo for Alberta!! LOL! (Becky, tiny typo in your description … Alberta, not Albert!) Kris, BRILLIANT video! I applaud you for putting yourself in there!!! Your kids will treasure that for their whole lives! You’ve inspired me to do something similar, thank you!!
Oops! Thank you for catching that Tracey. I fixed it, thanks to you.
Also a fellow Albertan, I used to live in Three Hills, too so I was very excited to see where she was from! Great video, Kris!
I am in awe of this video, I think she really captured the everyday so well. I loved the parts where she showed the clock, to show the time passing.
I hope she will be back to read this, and if so I have to ask Kris… any tips for how you accomplished this day-in-the-life video in terms of set-up of the camera, etc?
This is life in it’s truest form and so many of us can relate to this! Kris did an awesome job of documenting the day of her family (yay! that dad & mom were included). Thanks, Becky for selecting this & sharing it!
Loved it! It definitely reminded me to be grateful for every one of “those” days I get!
Truly AWESOME – Kris, you nailed it
Thanks to you you both for sharing!
Kris, can you tutor me on how to create a similar home video? This one was perfect!! From your husband’s sleepy eyes, making coffee, climbing back into bed to falling out of sleeptime.
haha, glad you liked it
if you have imovie, just watch the tutorials on how to make a movie. It explains it step by step and it’s really easy
I love it!
That was awsome!!! Thanks for sharing.
What an awesome idea! Thanks for sharing, Kris! I just made this a bonus challenge on my blog!
oh wow! glad you liked it that much
Love this video so much! My kids are a bit older now and it is easy to forget how completely busy and crazy life is with young kids and babies. I am all teary eyed remembering these days. It is easy to say that this phase in your life will go by so quickly but when you are living them day to day, it may not seem that way! Thanks for sharing your amazing video with us Kris!
So cute! Definitely want to make one of those videos! Thanks for sharing real life with us!
Kristal is my cousin and best friend since grade three
She did an awesome job on this video!! I don’t know where she finds the time to video, edit, and not sacrifice being a great mom and wife!! This video is totally entertaining, inspiring and reminds us all to embrace the craziness of our lives!!
Thats awesome! and it’s great to see someone from Alberta too! It’s so rare to see things (especially in this huge blog world) from people close to me!

Cute video and so true! Thanks for sharing!
this was fabulous and we can all relate in some way shape or form! thank yo so much for your snip-it of life Kris and for sharing that with us! I definitely do not take enough video of my kids or our life!! maybe i should try this more often… thank you Becky for letting this happen!
Loved that! Thank you for sharing!
OMG!! I absolutely LOVE this video!! Thank you, Kris for sharing your day with us!!!
LOVE it! Awesome job Kris. So nice to see someone from Alberta featured on Becky’s blog.
Loved it. So real and everyday. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, totally crying. Thanks so much for the peek into your life! It’s great to get perspective on my own life through observing others. Thanks to illness, I don’t get much of a chance to observe other people lives so this is much appreciated!
I cried! What an awesome video – you will cherish this forever!
Loved it, reminds me of the days when my boys were babies and toddlers.
Becky!! I could still do this and my boys are 18 and 21! I don’t want to tell Kris that even at that age, there are still dishes all over the counter during the day. I’m so inspired. This was awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Leslie
Love LOVE Love
Wow… best idea since PL
thanks for taking the time to document this part of your life Kris……,
and LOVE that song!!!!
as for the HACKED negative comment from someone using my friends name carmel!!!
IT ISNT HER……we are just seeing the video now….the time difference is shown in the time….
she is a kind and generous woman who ALWAYS helps others and has the heart of gold….so dont judge her people!!! lets find out who the SCUM is that is pretending to be her with a hurtful and NOT TRUE comment!!!!
This brings back so many memories of earlier times when my Mr’s 7 and 10 were much younger and I was a stay at home mum…. somehow I think Kris has it more under control than I ever did, even on “one of those days”! Loved your video Kris
Wow! That video was great and the song PERFECT for it! It made me tired though. LOL! Glad I have one, “finally-able-to-care-for-herself-mostly” 11 year old and my house is calm and peaceful. My heart kind of aches that I didn’t take more video of mine when she was little after watching this!
Awesome! I kept saying- that is so true!! LOL Loved it!
Thanks for all the love people…. someone asked if I have a blog they could read….I have a blog but it’s only a place where I post the videos I make. http://www.kpamproductions.wordpress.com.
The only thing to say is LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. Love, love, love. Priceless.
That was too cute & what a fantastic way to preserve daily memories. I always wondered what a day in the life of a mom is like (we have no children), and I’m happy that I now have a glimpse of that. I’m also happy with my life choices! LOL! Kristal, your kids are adorable. Thanks for sharing!
OMG is about all I can say. I love the videos and how the days roll by. It is so true as to what we really miss in life. Thanks so much for posting these!!!
I loved this video! Thanks for doing this.
Awesome video! Sure wish I had one like this documenting my years as a young mom. Thanks for sharing!

You captured the “life” in project life
Happy Holidays!!

I loved it! I can totally relate and it was fascinating to see a day in the life of someone else and immediately understand where they are coming from. Loved the song choice too! Thanks for sharing!
This is my life!! Thanks so much for sharing. It makes me feel like I’m not alone. Sometimes being a stay at home mom us lonely. Loved this. Thank you!
Made my day – this is wonderful. Thanks for sharing. I am truly inspired to get in my own videos!!
So inspiring. Thanks for sharing Kris. I love that your day isn’t too different from mine.
Absolutely ADORE this! This is something every parent should capture on video!
THank you sOooooo much for sharing. I love how she captures the time from difference sources. Looks like it was such a full day. I’d hate to record mine because on my rest days from work, there’d be too much sleeping. hehe.
Totally could have been a day in my life too. Thanks for sharing!!! N
What a special gift to your family to capture one of those days!
LOVE, love, love this!!
Wow I was tired out by just watching.. your beautiful day take shape
thanks for sharing & for keeping it real
xx Merry Christmas xx
THIS was a fantastic video! You have inspired me as well to make my own… my kids are older now, so life is sooo much easier… but boy, that video reminded me of days not long ago! I wish I had a video like this from a day in my life when my little guys were just all babies/toddlers. Thanks for sharing.
Totally love this. One of those days will one day be the best memories of your life! I smiled all the way through this one.
That is utterly awesome and inspiring, thanks for sharing Kris!!!

Can I simply just say what a comfort to discover someone who
really understands what they’re talking about on the internet. You definitely realize how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More people need to look at this and understand this side of the story. I can’t believe you’re not more popular because you certainly possess the gift.
