There seems to be an explosion of interest in Project Life this year and I’m not sure I have the words to articulate how I feel about this. Seriously. I am truly happy that so many people “get” this method of memory-keeping. I see how Project Life is helping those who weren’t doing much with their pictures actually do something and enjoy it. I see how it is bringing many who set scrapbooking aside, back into this wonderful hobby.
(Obviously this explosion of interest caused us to sell out of some items rather quickly but as I’ve mentioned – we expect those items to be back in stock on Amazon mid-February. Thank you for your patience.)
I want to extend a very special WELCOME to all who are new to this concept and our brand. We have created a GETTING STARTED slide show for anyone who wants to understand the Project Life approach to memory-keeping. This slide show is useful for those who want to really get to know Project Life and how it “works”. Even though it’s designed to be insanely simple, we totally get that actually seeing it work, step-by-step, really is so helpful. These are just a few of the slides:
For any of you who already have the product, but perhaps you haven’t actually opened the box yet … our GETTING STARTED slide show is for you, too. No need to feel guilty or “behind” (no such thing!). Just sit back, flip through the slides, and my hope is that it all just starts “clicking” for you and that you’ll want to rip the plastic off the products and get started!
I love what this newbie to Project Life recently told us. Elisa says, Until now, I had always felt overwhelmed by what I expected the final product (scrapbook) to look like, versus what my skill level was. My enthusiasm for Project Life stems from knowing that I can’t mess this up – no matter what I do, it will be beautiful.
Know someone who could use some help in the memory-keeping department? Send them HERE. Oh – and be sure they see the main Project Life video that shares more of the philosophy behind the product.

I am thrilled to find such a simple, beautiful way to scrap my photos. Even though I have everything except the pages I want, I find it very easy to take a few minutes every day (or every few days) to fill out my journaling cards so everything will be ready when the pages do finally arrive. I’ve decided to do a photo a day album to document the last year of my 20′s! (An idea a friend of mine had.) So excited to see what the final product looks like
Started this year and it has already brought great joy and happiness in so many ways!!…So Simple, fun, creative and a great way to relax a few minutes a a day…fill out the card,…take a pic…and pretty soon you have an amazing album all about your life!!!…It’s wonderful and I recommend it to everyone!
Do you still sell a complete kit ? I am wanting it in Turquoise, I will be starting my first project!! I’m very excited to get going. Thanks
Hi Barb,
Becky no longer offers a complete kit. All items are now sold ala carte. All you need to get started though are a binder, core kit & photo page protectors.
I started this year and have nearly finished scrapping all of 2011. It only took me a few weeks. I have really found it to be a great product. I tell anyone who will listen about it : ) I have my second binder ready to go…still trying to decide which photos to do next!
I can’t tell you how excited I am about Project Life. I have been a daily visitor to your blog for years now watching from the sidelines and dreaming as I haven’t been able to afford PL. Well- that’s what I thought. I was recently given a financial gift from a very special bunch of older women who wanted to give me a personal present to encourage me. (How cool is that??!!) I wanted to spend their gift wisely as I know it was given sacrificially and I am thrilled to say I have decided to use it to invest in Project Life.
I calculated that by doing a month by month approach I should be able to use one core kit to catch up on 6 years of pictures!! Yup, I am aiming for 6 years!! (Then when that is done I will try for more lol). Just the thought of it more than thrills me!! Can barely wait to begin.
I think this is a great fit for several reasons. When our son joined us through the miracle of adoption 5 years ago I began scrapbooking his story of joining our family. Believe it or not I am still going on his first year!! This has been such a priceless investment of time and I love how much he loves the progress I have made and eagerly anticipates more- but it has also been discouraging because I have fallen soooo far behind in my memory keeping. Enter Project Life. I just received my first ever PL Core Kit this week and I am soo excited by the possibilities
I have an ongoing illness that means I am restricted to home a lot and tend to use any spare energy I have doing household chores. But I am also a person who needs organisation to feel sane. So I feel stressed with so much disorganisation and that’s another reason why I am so thankful for the possibilities PL provides of helping me make sense of the chaos that is several boxes of photo packets, and having all those memories in albums, without an overwhelming amount of effort.
And finally, my precious boy is off to preschool this year and I am not going to find the adjustment to him not being around very easy. So I am finding having my “Project Life project” to look forward to when he goes a real help as that time fast approaches.
Just a few reasons why I am happy to be one of the many “Newbies” to getting started with Project Life. Oh, and I do “get” that it is a very straightforward approach with potential to do your own thing so thanks for making it so easy Becky!!
Alison, Australia
P.S Are you able to please let me know what the spacing between holes are on your page protectors. I have pre ordered mine from NZ but want to make sure they will fit the binder I already have. I tried emailing you and several others but don’t think it worked – Thanks!!
Alison – I have the Design A and they are about 10.5cm between holes. Hope that it works for you.
Love your story and that you are going for a 6 year plan with your album. My son is also starting Kindy this year (today infact) and I used the time to catch up on PL too. I love reading fellow Aussie PL stories and yours is pretty awesome.
Ah- you are sweet Brooke! thanks so much for your encouragement. And I am sooo grateful for the measurements as I have spent hours scouring the web trying to find an answer to that simple qu
You’re a star! Hope your son enjoyed his first day and you survived with PL
Hello fellow Aussie girls! My name is Jodie and I am so excited that there are others out there in Australia participating in Project Life. Let’s get together?! I have a Facebook page called Polka Dot Creative where I am sharing my PL journey. Please pop in! Wouldn’t it be great to start a Project Life Down Under group where we could share + inspire? I’m developing a website which will be active as of this Friday and would be thrilled to invite one and all to share their journey with me. Email me at jodie@polkadotcreative.com.au Let’s do it!!!!! xxx
Jodie! Fantastic idea. I’m an Aussie also doing pl! And I love it! Can’t wait to see your site x
[...] If you’ve never heard of Project Life I’ve included this little video by Project Life designer Becky Higgins and Beck has done a quick beginner’s guide. [...]
I’m new this year and I absolutely LOVE the idea for it’s ease and discipline without guilt. There is a rhythm to it. I started working on my layouts over my lunches at work and I absolutely love that I can do that! It’s the best part of my work day! I was so disappointed when I saw that you were already sold out of design A of the sheet protectors, but how exciting is it that Project Life has grown so much! Can’t wait to order those in February so that I can finally put the pieces I’ve been collecting together!
This slideshow was great thank you for demonstrating our easy it can be. Loved the piece on “keeping your eyes on your own paper” helps balance the different approaches.
Great story Alison – don’t feel bad on being 6 years behind – my son started year 7 yesterday and I still haven’t finished his first year album !! That is going to be one of the core kits (I think the Clemetine?)…
The beauty i feel of Project Life is how flexible and individual it can be. You can keep it simple or make it as embellished as you like….
Anyhow yep another Aussie here and Jodie you read my mind – what an awesome idea it would be to get all of us Aussie Project Lifers together through Facebook or the like – I will drop over to your page now
And lastly to Becky – thank you for your vision, passion, creativity and your generous spirit to bring Project Life to us…:)) Beth
This is my second year of using Project Life. I am so excited that I actually completed the 2011 Album (well almost – just a bit of last minute tweaking required). I’ve gone from being a guilt-ridden “I don’t have time to scrapbook mother” to a “I CAN do this / Project Lifer”. It’s wonderful seeing my kids (13, 11 & 7) sitting and flipping through the album saying “remember when we did this, went there…” and also they get a chance to write in the journal cards and make it their story. I have plans to make each of them their own album with a few pages each year of favourite photos/memories and I have a number of years to go back and catch up on. But Project Life means I feel like I CAN do it!
Thank you for an awesome product Becky, and for making scrapbooking achievable for so many. I have recommended Project Life to many friends who are ordering it for the first time this year.
I started PL this year for the first time and at first was a little nervous about it after searching blogs and seeing what everyone was doing. I kind of backed away from it to rethink my approach. I ended going back and doing it for me and not for what I was seeing posted. I am loving PL and have already thought about next year. I am not to the point where I want to share my pages, but maybe down the road a little bit more.
I’m getting ready to start my second year of Project Life and I have to say it has been the best experience for me and my busy schedule. I’m actually scrapbooking documenting our lives in an album, instead of stacks of paper and pics on my desk with list of pages to do. For anyone who is new to Project Life and unintentionally feels overwhelmed or rushed to ‘keep up’ – don’t! This past year I was regularly ‘behind’ because I would intentionally wait for sales on Shutterfly to order my pics. As I ordered my pics – sometimes 8 or 12 weeks at a time – I would decide if I needed extra page protectors, what size, and kept a list of each weeks organization so that once the pics came in it was just a matter of sitting down and inserting pics and journaling. I’m a busy mom – I’m a full time student, a substitute teacher, a Girl Scout leader, I work at a local theme park during the summer and I don’t let ‘getting behind’ bother me, so don’t let it bother you!
“Project Life is helping those who weren’t doing much with their pictures actually do something and enjoy it. I see how it is bringing many who set scrapbooking aside, back into this wonderful hobby.”
This is me, to a T! I really can’t even express the joy I feel to be back to srapbooking. I have four children and gave up scrapbooking when my oldest ones were 3 and 2. The strain of guilt and sadness I had over not recording their young lives was a big weight on me. I feel lighter than air now getting our photos and stories documented. This is the best thing that’s happened to me. I am so grateful to you and Project Life!
So when looking, it looks like the Design A Photo Pockets are all out? Is this correct?
I have been familiar with Project Life for a few years although this is the first year I am dedicated to doing it. It was a gift to my husband for Christmas. (He told my I couldn’t tell any of his friends that, but you don’t know him so this is okay.) Last year he wrote down something to remember everyday. So I thought Project Life would be perfect for us- he could be the writer and I would illustrate it with my pictures. So far, so good. I have had to adjust my expectations for the project and for our contributions. He does write down something everyday. I like journaling to reflect the photos. But what we are ending up with is a great mix of our personalities and talents. I can’t wait until the end of the year to look back on what we’ve done!
Love it. How about a day with posts designated for teenagers and project life. Its much easier to get the shots for PL when they are younger. Lets see some inspiration for teens and tweens!
I can’t wait to get started and get all these pictures off my phone and cameras!! Already have my core kit and binder just need the plastics.
Been telling all my friends about it since we all want to capture those quick, sweet moments with our little ones and can’t think of a better way to do it than PL! Thanks! Becky
Superbe! merci pour le partage. Voici mon project life à moi: http://titesnoop.blogspot.com/
A bientôt;

Becky,
I love Project Life but I don’t want to use it for documenting every week of my life for my whole life. I don’t want a 2011 album a 2012 album etc. Is there anyone doing this that has used the project for documenting life in other ways??? How could I use this to complete Evelyn’s album, Henry’s album, Grant’s album and Ella’s album (my children)? Versus one big yearly album?
Thanks,
Tawnda
I’m using it as my daughters’ childhood albums, and it works great!! I just put the pictures in chronological order (using mainly Design A) and fill in the journaling cards to go along with the pictures. I love it, and I’m quickly getting caught up on my girls’ albums.
I have been doing full sized 12 x 12 pages for my daughter, but I felt like we (the parents) were really missing in most of the pages. I wanted to do more of a “family” book of us all together. So, instead of doing strict weekly pages I am doing one month on two pages that are side by side. If one month gets extra exciting I can always add a 12×6 page in the middle to add extra real estate.
I will still be 12 x 12 scrapping in my daughters books as well. We are Americans living in Germany and she just started German Kindergarten. We snap quick shots of the town, the places we go, things we see, all that time and Project life will allow me to document the little things that would probably stay on my phone forever and one day be lost. Now I have a way to share all that, but I still want to continue her story in her books, I’ll just be scrapping them a little differently.
My husband got me this for Christmas . I put the pictures in the pages but have not written or make it cute yet. I put them in there to keep them safe and out of the way for right now.
We are moving next week and i can not wait to get settled and get on to working on my book.
I have never written or posted here before finally just wanted to say i love this.
I love seeing ideas and pages of what others do also so please keep posting pictures.
Thank you
Terri
Welcom Terri…and goodluck with your move. I KNOW that can be so overwelming!!! Take Care:)
{{{{{{Hangs head in shame}}}}}}} Haven’t opened the box yet. And I’ve had it since last summer. That’s right. Last summer.
Wow, Becky, this system is wonderful!!!! I stumbled across it today – saw your name somewhere and thought, “It’s THAT Becky from CK!” I’ve been digiscrapping for years now, which I don’t plan to quit, but I’ve never gotten around to scanning all the pre-2005 photos. They’ve been sitting in boxes, unseen for a long time. Not much longer! I’m ordering whatever color and pages are in stock, and we’re going to start looking at our kids’ baby photos again. Thank you so much for this!
Love it. I’ve been having so much fun with my first PL. I’ve never scrapped before, and have been intimidated to try. Really, this method fits me perfectly in so many ways. Thank you!
Thanks for this Becky. Being a PL newbie, every post, video, article that addresses our concerns is very encouraging and inspiring. I’ve discovered PL about May last year and I have been a constant visitor on your blog since then. I got my kit before Christmas and I look forward to documenting the everyday now that I started on my 2012 album. Thank you so much and God bless you and your family!
OK silly I know…I am a project lifer… only have purchased thus far the kit ALL together. Was unsure if I was going to do it this year 2012…YEP think I am. I have chosen my color BUT why am I having such a hard time finding the original pocket pages that go to project life. EVERY one I click on is different. You know I want the two 4×6 at top and bottom …then the 4 smaller (wallet) size kinda sorta …LOL in the middle. I can’t seem to find them…can anybody help??? Thanks ahead of time if you can:)
Lisa
Lisa – the page protectors you are looking for are “Design A”. They are unavailable on Amazon because they are out of stock:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005TYRHIA?ie=UTF8&tag=beckhigg-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=B005TYRHIA . Becky has posted that they are expected back in mid-Feb.
If you go onto the Products tab on Becky’s blog, it shows all the Project Life products, including those that are sold out and not showing up on Amazon. The sold out items typically have a note of when they will be expected back in stock. Hope that helps!
Perfect…and thank you. That explains WHY I could not find them:) Thanks again…and Happy Weekend!
Hi Becky! This is my first year doing a Project Life album and I’m so excited. I’ve got my Clemetine core kit and can’t wait for the Design A pages to come out so that I can use my core kit. BUT I’m not letting that hold me back from working on my album…I’m simply using what I have on hand and getting it done. Better done than perfect…has always been my motto…my kids hated hearing it…lol But seriously I hate to see people think that they have to have the “perfect” supplies or spend a lot of money on supplies to get started. Thanks so much for the inspiration to scrapbook once again…something I haven’t enjoyed since my father passed away over 7 years ago. Fondly, Roberta
Oh yeah…forgot my recent blog post ;}

Hi Becky… I wondered if you could help?
I finally got my PL page protectors (I live in Europe) only to discover that they were the wrong size! What I thought was a 3×4 journaling card pocket turned out to be a 4×4 pocket. At the moment I am stuck with what I have… 50 page protectos with 6×8 and 4×4 slots; whole bunch of 3×4 journaling cards and 10-15 12×12 papers…
I was planning to create a hybrid PL this year…
Becky, do you have any ideas how I can use the 4×4 pockets? how to journal? how to change the whole layout concept of a PL album to accommodate 4×4 sized pockets? I am so so so angry and disappointed and frustrated… I so was waiting for the protectors to arrive!:-(
This is my second year using Project Life and yes my 2011 book is complete. Last year I used the day by day format, but this year it will be weekly. Thank you Becky for all the videos, inspiration and photo ideas. I also love to check out the blogs of all the creative team.
hope you don’t mind that I posted about PROJECT LIFE on my blog. I’m in awe! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! You’ll have my order soon!
Hi Becky,
. Thanks a lot!!!!
I’m not sure if this question was answered before, but I’d like to know if you have any updates about Design A page protectors when they will be available or if you need to pre-order them to make sure you get them. Looking forward to start the project…just waiting for those page protectors
this might be answered on here somewhere but there is a lot here! and i love everything i’ve read so far! i’m getting ready to start my first baby’s scrapbook. I’ve taken a picture (almost) everyday and really wanted to do a 365 day scrapbook for his first year. Being totally overwhelmed by the idea of a traditional scrapbook, (365 different layouts) I was looking for alternatives, and came across this concept! My question is, how do you incorporate objects other than pictures and journal cards. For example, his sheet of foot prints from the hospital, his hospital bracelet, “stat” sheets from the dr every other month. I want that to all be included but not sure how to do it with this concept.
Thanks!
